  1. Why would we ask for permission? Server and mod files are publicly available, you don't need anyone's permission to run an ArmA2 server.
  2. Frostbite engine with realistic damage system and big maps.
  3. Thousands of people run FRAPS everyday, you won't get banned for it. Those who were banned were running "something else" and made a pretty story on how they got banned because of harmless FRAPS. Once you get the FRAPS, or any other screenshot taking toll for that matter, just make screenshots of conversations together with visible server name (I button).

    Heli Crash Sites?

All weapons have a chance of spawning together with 0-3 magazines of ammo. So it is perfectly normal.

    Battleye Initialization failed

Use search? This has been discussed before many times, for example http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/33477-battleye-failed-to-initialize/
  6. +1 Adron Your rules are allowing hackers and exploiters to destroy the experience of the game for other players and they are allowed to roam servers without any consequences. If you won't do anything about it I guess it's up to us admins to take things into our own hands.
  7. You can still use BattleEye and create a global GUID ban list for the unofficial HIVE. I like the idea of creating a community around single server - so private database is the way to go IMO. I hate being restricted by other people and their silly rules on my own server. +1 for OP.

Please stop getting mad a DayZ devs

I'm not mad, It's an alpha, it's NOT supposed to be working. What I am frustrated about is not the mod but how disorganized the DayZ team is, but that's a completely different story.
  9. You got banhammer'd. Contact the server admin.

    Server Hosting quick FAQ

Are these new server requirements approved by rocket? Is there an official statement? The requirements are so unnecessarily high that I find it hard to believe that someone with server hosting experience would write this. Is DayZ team trying to get rid of non-commercial hosters? I'm getting Battlefield/Call of Duty vibes. Yes, it works best with a fast quad core cpu, but it shouldn't be a requirement. You can easily run a 40 slot server with a > 3.5GHz dual core, especially now with improved server performance. I tested a 3.8GHz Core2Duo with 1.7.5, so if anything it is even more viable now. 8GB RAM? Never seen ArmA2 server exceed 2GB RAM usage. 500 IOPS drive. Seriously? After the server has started and the mission file loaded there is barely any HDD activity. This one is completely ridiculous. 100Mbit connection is pretty useful, although my test show that with 50 players online there were no bandwidth spikes over 40Mbit. I would say 50Mbit is the minimum to be safe.

    8GB ram required now?

Then it seems like the admin that handled your request has no idea about hosting ArmA2 servers. The requirements from the support portal are gibberish. My server never used more than 2GB RAM, and that after 16 hour uptime.

    Battleye initialization failed.

It worked for me, I guess your problem must be something else. Have you updated to the latest beta patch 94945?

    Battleye initialization failed.

Had the same problem, downloaded the latest 1.61 BattleEye files from http://www.battleye.com/download.html and replaced both BEClient.dll and BEServer.dll in Expansion/BattleEye on my server. You need to do the same for the client - people who haven't updated their .dll's won't be able to connect.
  14. When you carefully open all doors afraid of breaking your legs and falling unconscious.
  15. As much as I respect your opinion I think that discussing voice servers in a thread about a voice server is pretty on topic. That being said I'll leave this thread to rest now. ;)
  16. Fanboy discussion? I just expressed my personal opinion on how Mumble is a better choice than TS3. That's what the forums are for - to comment on things, right? And where do you see anyone arguing? What's with the bold red text anyway?
  17. TeamSpeak is free up to 500 slots, but you still have to obtain the non-profit licence which is a hassle. Mumble has no restrictions, no licenses - it's open source. TeamSpeak3 is a huge improvement to TeamSpeak2, but it's still not at the same level of latency and quality of Mumble. Although they seem to use the same codec - Speex - the TS3 doesn't sound as good. Compare here: I like the administration interface of TS3 though. It is much more easier to administer and manage :)
  18. 1. Fix the Zombie aggro 2. Add more vehicles like helicopters 3. Prevent player disconnecting 4. Do a complete database reset 5. ??? 6. Profit!
  19. Duh, Mumble is way better in terms of audio quality and latency. And it's open source / free.

New Server Signup and Ticket System

Why the need of full name and address? What does it have to do with hosting a DayZ server? Where do I find information how my personal data will be stored?
  21. ElRolle

    How to Uninstall?

Just disable the DayZ under Expansions in main menu or delete the folder @DayZ in ArmA2:OA directory.

    no message received

It depends if it is the ArmA2 server/client or your Internet connection. Try running ping in background while you play, if it starts dropping at the same time when you get DC from server then it is your Internet connection. If it doesn't then something is wrong with your client and/or the servers you are playing on. To run ping: Start -> Run... -> type "cmd" without quotes -> type "ping google.com -t" without quotes -> Let it run and go play -> Cancel with CTRL+C when you're finished.

    Bandwidth usage

With 40 players online on my server the server process is using between 9-15Mbit with spikes up to 25Mbit. Hope that helps.
