  1. I was hugh fan of the mod, it was so awsome because i had never played anything quite like it when it came. The mod was by no means perfect and standalone certainly has improved some things. But the mod atleast had Zombies that could be a threat. The mod system where zombies spawn near players was a bit weird and far from perfect but atleast it ment you could face lots of undead. Currently Zombies are just such meh...they have little or no impact in the game. If Zombies actaully where a threat it would mean weapons actually would have more use then just for PVP. Why not go back to the old system until you have found a better solution. Currently in the game the only threats is A, Other players, B, bugs or C, your unlucky and you don't find any food/water. Its called DayZ. No wonder its KoS, people want to use their weapon on something. But if zombies actually was a factor, who knows, people might be more careful at spending their ammo. Does anyone have any idea on how they plan to solve the issues. I heard they talked about Hordes, etc... but will it ever be possible?

    #DayZ Logic

    - You can be drenched but also Hypertermic at the same time. Chernarus must be worse then a rainforest. - If i try to chamber the wrong round into my gun DayZ think its a good idea put down my gun and put the ammo to my hand -.- -There is tones of guns but for some reason there is barely any magazines. -Zombies seem to have longer range on their attacks then my Fireaxe. -You get random info about the guns you have, but not the important thing like what ammo they need. -People complain about bandits, yet without them the game would have no other threats besides bugs.
  3. Its really weird because i can be drenched at the same time as im Hyperthermic. Must be some crazy rainforest climate in Chernarus.
  4. Im mostly playing Arma and the DayZ mod. Its nice to see that the DayZ SA is actually playable now with the new patch. But after having playing a couple of hours im already starting to feel like going PVP mode. Because there really isn't that much more to do. Yeah I can run around and scavange but its getting kinda dull to run around in empty towns. It feels like there is a long way to go...No Zombies, the Inventory is kinda shitty and confusing, horrible melee combat, weird loot balance, loads of weapons for some reason but almost no magazines. Im guessing 1 or 2 years more before DayZ maybe will feel complete. But who knows it could take longer, I wouldn't be surprised if it would.

So whats the deal with the Zombies?

What difference does it make? Both are temporary solutions and neither requires more work then the other because both already exist. They had the mod system, then moved over to this system, which currently doesn't work...BECAUSE THERE ARE LIKE NO ZOMBIES! Then they might aswell have kept the old system and implemented the new system when its possible.
  6. It would be easier to name a game that is worse. but can't think of any atm.

So whats the deal with the Zombies?

Well that is a special case not something that happens often in 0.6. I have at most come across like 3 zombies at the same time in 0.6. Yes I know devs talked about it like 2 years ago, but when its taking so long why not keep the old until they fix stuff. Dunno how long that wait will be though, stuff isn't exacly happening fast in DayZ. I try to appereciate DayZ for what they have fixed, still the game is kinda boring because it lacks other threats then players.

    No loot in .60

I have died twice from thirst, seems very random, sometimes i visit several small towns with no food/water at all. At one point i couldn't even drink from the pond and ironically died in the pond from thirst. Kinda summs up DayZ.
  9. The system is really weird at times, I died of thirst today even though i was standing in a pond trying to drink...but nope ofc that didn't work.
  10. Actually both me and him did use axes in the battle, yeah i have pretty much not played any Standalone DayZ since forever. So my technique was no doubt shitty. Still if i got a axe and im swinging it right through someone and it only hit sometimes then i call it BS. Its not ment to be rocket science, any FPS out there that i know of does this better then DayZ. Im sure Veterans have learned all how to avoid worst of the glitchiness in melee, but it doesn't change the fact that it sucks. It looks shitty, it feels shitty and just so embarrasing to have something like this in game that has been in Alpha for like several years now.

Who wants to see bears is SA?

Gah i just can't bear all these lame puns....
  12. Zombies are a bigger joke now then what they where 10 months ago. you run a few meters and they stop chasing you basically. Overall not the much that has happend. Biggest change is that most people play on private servers. Which ususally involve less survival but more military loot and vehicles. Ohh and Day 24/7. Kinda dull really.
  13. Im sure these threads been made before, but what the hell.... I just recently had probably the most annoying death so far in DayZ and that says alot since i have died from alot of stuff. Rocks, falling from one meter heights, hackers, glitching zombies etc etc... Anyway the thing that happend for me today was that me and a friend had just recently repaired a truck (we played the Origins mod). We are driving around collecting spare parts for the truck at the docks. We collected a shitload of stuff, i had a Ghillie with M16 acog and this wasn't on a server with alot of military grade loot. Anyway im moving the truck a little bit further up the dock. I was driving in 15kmph then bam the truck drives into some kinda invisible obstacle causing both front tires to get destroyed. Before i get a chance to get out the entire truck exploades and my corpse is sent of too the sea. The Irony of it all is that the vehicle was a firetruck >.< Im starting to think im masochistic since i still play this game despite all the horrible all its flaws :D Whats the most annoying death you experianced?
  14. DayZ the Survival game! Thats what most players convince themselves it is. But right now, most of these private servers just completly goes against what DayZ was intended to be about. I have played quite alot of strategy games, Company of heroes, Men of War. The majority of players in these games prefered the most retarded maps with the most retarted settings. Which also resulted in the least amount of real stratagy. This kinda shows that the average players just don't have a clue what makes a game good. They just wanna find the easiest way to win and have all the flashy units and gear. Actual challange and stuff that forces them to think and adapt is something very few players play games for. Same goes for DayZ, people just want what is easy. Spawn with silenced pistols, rifles, spawn with map, no night, increased heli crashes by 1000% etc.. Its as if more is always better. But its not, because this is a survival game... On some of these private servers I almost never see any random players teaming up, there is really minimal need to scavange gear, zombies has a minimal impact on gameplay. Even the PvP sucks because it basically comes down which player is the biggest no-life camper. I can understand if people want to try out stuff on servers like this. But i really hope the standalone tries to encourage more survival. The customer isn't always right and many times don't understand what factors are need to make a great gameplay experiance. (PS. Not all private servers are bad)
  15. Thanks for the beans, seems like im not the only one that thinks this is a problem. I have been trying out the Origins mod recently and actually managed to find a server that had very limited military loot and it had a day/night cycle. There are some more vehicles on the server, but not to a extent that everyone has one. Actually been having some fun now even though the server doesn't have as many people on it as the crazy military loot servers.

    The "DayZ" Feel

To be completly fair i don't think DayZ will ever be able to offer the same feel we had the first time we tried the mod. The entire concept and gameplay was something we had never experianced before, everyone was a noob that had no idea what was out there. Thats also probably why we saw alot of randoms teaming up etc... Even with new features, improvements the impact for an old player won't be the first time as he played it.
  17. Not to sound gay or anything but i think ponies kick ass!
  18. I think sniper rifles should just be less common. Also if zombies where a larger threat assault rifles would come more in handy in PvE. Right now a Pistol can solve most zombie problems even if they are glitichy as fuck.

    Your most satisfying kill

Haha good one. Thats something i wanna try out.

    Your most satisfying kill

Once I stalked two guys from like vybor up to NE airfield,They spotted me once and just dissapeared before i finnally found them at NE airfield and continued to stalk them. They ran around there for a long time but eventually came up close to where i was and I just unloaded a mag into both of em. I think the whole stalking part and tension made it so rewarding when i finally managed to get em. Once i Axed 2 guys to death when they where bussy looting items at a hospital. Felt pretty nice since they had pretty much end game gear.
  21. Problem right now is that zombies are such a tiny threat that you bearly need anything to deal with them. Lets face it alot of the games strengths is the whole search for better weapons. But how often do you actually need a good weapon vs Zeds? Unless its silenced it will almost always cause even more aggro then just running away. Key to surivive is to be quiet so killing zombies is something you really don't wanna do too often. Only time you need one is when your stuck with some zeds in a building. At that time all you want is a pistol or a axe...stuff you find everywhere. So all the other fancy weapons aren't really needed in PvE. But if a guy finds a assault rifle he want to make sure it comes to good use. So basically all military weapons becomes weapons for PVP. Which is kinda sad...it would be nice if big weapons was needed in certain areas for then PvP. Overall i wish there was more PvE so it atleast would give people more options.
  22. Kinda recently got back to DayZ after a few months away. Happy to see that there seems to be less hackers now. There are three main issues that kinda ruins things for me now. 1. Now when i try to find servers theres just so many servers with like "Spawn with sniper, extra loot, military loot everywhere blabla". It kinda takes the survival part away. Going from town to town with a new character trying to find a extra mag for the pistol, that to me was the fun part. Feeling that your working your towards something and know that alerting some zombies or a player could be really risky. Also if you spawn with no gear it encourage you to team up with other survivors, if you spawn with a m16 cco people just tend to become alot more trigger happy. 2. Ohh and the Zombies now...What the hell. They could basically be removed and it would barely be noticable. I mean you run for a few meters and then they just stop chasing you. I know it was insane before when they never gave up, but atleast that made em challanging. Now when they are so useless, getting weapons for dealing with zombies just feels less important. Many times i don't even try to stealth around them. I just run right past them knowing i will shake them off after like 10-30 sec. 3. Anyone more then me that miss the night time on servers? Yes they are dark as fuck, but the most memerable things for me has been happening during the night. So much more atmosphere and tension at night. I bet even the current shitty zombie would be scary on a night time server. Played maybe 20-30 servers and haven't been able to find a server with night on it. Seems like most players just became so competative and there for don't want night. I really hope the standalone fix these things. I hope they make sure there are mores stuff to do, more advantages of teaming up and most importantly more dangerous threats in the wild.

    More sandbox Pvp then survival?

I gave you my beans. Great post and nice to hear the zombies will improve. Yeah agreed when the zombies become too easy PvP gets easier and there really isn't much of a point to team up. So everyone just shoot on sight. If we get to see rougher survival elements this would change. Problem is there will always be people who don't like too much survival elements in a surivival game. People get relived when they start with a weapon, don't have to experiance night, won't have to worry about dangerous zombies, can find tones of weapons and vehicles. Sadly that usually leads to the survival and teamwork aspect becomes less important. Most people want the flashy shit, to them less isn't more. More is more even if it completly goes against what the game is about. Another problem is that once you got decent gear there really isn't that much to do.. The zombies can't offer anything, all you can do is go and pick up food and drink and then just keep on surviving i guess...So i can understand why more people once they get bored go look for players. Since only the pvp can offer tension and intressting battles.

    More sandbox Pvp then survival?

Yup I agree sadly they are pretty much only stupid and predictable right now.

    More sandbox Pvp then survival?

I don't agree ofc all zombies would not be in towns, especially long after the infection incident started when there aren't any people left in the towns. You also have to remember that people might have turned into zombies in the forest. Or zombies who maybe have chased survivors in there. There is nothing that would guarentee that a zombie would only hang around populated areas. I remember how scared i was of the forest at night in DayZ when i was new, but then i realized its the safest place in the game. I think it would be awsome if there was atleast some chance of encountering zombies outside towns. Well atm they aren't really respected, they are a minimal part of the game. Im not saying people should fight their way through hordes of em. But there should atleast be consquences if you run around like a retard alerting zombies. Atm there really isn't unless there is a player who notice you. I agree that they are a bit random. sometimes i run right past them and they don't notice anything other times they notice me miles away even though im not fully running. But at the same time they should react more approprieate. Atm they spot a player they go all crazy and run after you, then you run 10 meters behind a pinetree and they give up there search. That just isn't right, if they are so hungry for flesh they shouldn't give up that easily.
