  2. i wish rocket was leading arma 3 development aswell. he is fully aware and taking care of all the things that are most annoying/game breaking in the arma engine. and has the balls to extend development to fix them.

    custom gear, server side AI (zombies spawn with the server), custom zombie models, custom zombie animations, custom buildings. it is an stand alone after all and not a new game from scratch. client sided scripting blocked so that will take care of a lot of hackers. lots of goodies imho, just those make the game worthwhile. as long as the minimum fps is acceptable on mid-high end machines. if they are able to fix the bottleneck the game engine has on the first cpu core that plague arma 2 and 3 for now (which i would guess they did with the serverside stuff) and get decent minimum framerates, then ill be very happy with dayz.

    I would buy it like i did arma 3 if it where released as an alpha on steam, no doubt about it. The biggest issue and complain with arma 3 is the low fps caused by most of the game being handled by 1 thread and 1 core, and never using more than the equivalent of 2 cores overall on any given cpu no matter how many cores you have. just like arma 2 has ever been, so it has nothing to do with being aplha or not. People expected arma 3 to be able to use at least 4 cores since it gets 10fps with 30-50% cpu/gpu usage and i believe thats reasonable. (please dont argue with me on this, if you want to argue about this issue go to the 30+ pages thread on the arma 3 forum or the highly voted bug report on the matter). Im just stating this to show the difference between arma 3 and dayz SA. BUT, since dayz stand alone changed a lot of stuff and went server side, i doubt stand alone would suffer from the same ia/cpu limitations inherent to the arma 2 engine. so again, i would love to see stand alone on steam, even as an alpha. why? because i want to play dayz and the mod is fully riddled with scripters/adm griefers and low fps from the same previously stated issue, i played hundreds of hours of it but since it became too popular the amount of hackers rendered it unplayable for me, imho. anyway, Stand Alone is looking good.

    this patch was great but dayz is unplayable right now every single day theres a hacker no matter the server, battle eye is useless, im gone till stand alone comes out. good luck all. and like i said in another topic, bohemia shoudl watch out, theyre selling arma 2 collection using dayz mod as its driving force (the press release for arma 2 colletion mentions dayz 4 times while not saying a single word about arma 2 features), all while not mentioning a single time that the stand alone is suposed to come out soon. that is gonna disappoint a lot of people.

    the issue here has nothing to do with having or not money to pay for it, which i have to spare on my steam wallet already. is misleading people into buying a game to play dayz while the same company will launch a whole another dayz in a couple of months, and charge for it again. as you can notice, the press release mentions nothing like "play dayz mod while the stand alone isnt out yet" or something like that, which mislead most of the consumers which also arent well informed. and it would be fair to do so, after all its the same company behind both games. its a matter of being clear to costumers and not misleading them into having to pay twice. it was either a very poorly made press release or a clear engagement of milking the mod prior to the stand alone launch while withholding more information that could help ill-informed costumers. and i believe your estimated price is wrong, ive read it would be something like 28 euro.

    well just saw bohemias press release on the arma 2 complete collection it kind of negates the argument of arma being a game for itself to render the argument of buing dayz twice invalid when they mention dayz 3 times while trying to market arma. Perfect choice for all new DayZ devotees!     people get used to the way most people play, and third person became the "default" for dayz. but its easier gameplay, and you can perceive a lot more than your character would be able to. if people find that the game gives you an not frowned upon way to get advantage they will not only use it, but get used to it. personally, a war simulator with the option to play the game like lara croft´s tomb raider or spongebob squarepants, or even mario, is a joke, and to my knowledge the option was just left there because it has always been there, and people just got used to it. ive played a lot on first person only servers, last few times i tried there were always people talking in sidechannel which bothered me a lot and made me give up, and to consider playing in first person on third person enabled servers is a joke, you will have no awareness of your surroundings compared to third person players, you might aswell play blindfolded when engaging on pvps. i give an example, i spawned next to cherno, when in, found an axe, heard a pvp inside firestation, both had aks ,one died. i sneaked near the firestation and to my luck started to rain, i crouch sneaked next to its wall and using third person camera i looked inside and saw a player, when he looked the other way i rushed inside and axed him. he had no chance whatsoever and the only reason is that i could see what my character could not. i understand how most people prefer the easier tomb raider arcade style gameplay, simply because its easier to be aware, easier to not get ambushed, easier to spot treats if you are carefull enough. but if you only had first person, now you would have a real challenge and a whole new set of tactics on dealing with other players, since they no longer would be able to use the 4 meter camera pole to easily scout everything without putting yourself at risk. i also understand that probably a lot of people would stop playing if they took third person off, since most are used to it, and to me its because the game would become a lot harder.

    i really prefer zombies as they are now, they agro more but are easier to shoot. also they seem more predictable and ive found to be easy to avoid them while sneaking. the only thing is that since most towns have an open field around them its pretty easy for another player to spot you sneaking inside. also the thing with how the zombies spawn (that and no hackers is why i really want the stand alone, i see hackers on everyserver every single day). but i guess if third person was scrachted off would be harder for bandits to have vision across a huge area, like it is now. another thing, was the bug on elektro hospital fixed? ive been completely avoiding that since i saw a few people exploiting it a while ago. but overall i really liked the changes to the zombies in this latest patch, good work!

    i would say not to change anything and just focus on zombie behaviour, when thats dealt with then think of improvements. let them walk inside hospitals, let them not lose focus so easily inside churches and markets, and let them run inside big warehouses. but lower their sight range, they shouldnt be able to tell a human from an infected after 30 meters or so, even standing, its not like theyve mutated into half humans half hawks. and they shouldnt run faster than healthy humans. also could make zombies drop some guts that you can use to temporarily (for 5 mins) disguise yourself from them has long you dont run or shoot. and get rid of silenced weapons, afaik they dont exist, there are supressors but they are still loud and would attract zombies.

    speaking of cities, dayz stand alone could have 1 big metropolis (liek 3-4 times the size of elektro with glass skyscrapers righ in the middle of chernarus, and a highway next to it like taviana. i would love the contrast of open fields/small villages and a big city in which is hard to tell if people are coming in it or not. well one can dream.

    btw, forgot about something important, will there be proper melee animations and more melee weapons? dont recall reading about that. takedowns would be great for knifes.. but i guess they would only work if first person was locked and if there were a complete silent walk. (and to me i would like both)

    ive actually shot in ranges with lots of guns, up to 50m anyone can pretty much hit something (with any weapon and 10min training, and its harder on arma), up to 150m its not that hard (with assault guns or rifles, ive seen girls that held the gun for the first time do that), beyond that takes practice, except rifles with tripods, previously fine tuned scopes and no wind. 600 yards record with 45 pistol http://www.downrange...1-45-acp/17465/ wanna see someone do that in arma. no such thing as yards on my country, and someone that cant hit a body target at 20 feet is retarded and afraid of the gun, i could do hat when i was 13 with tin cans considering survivors after a while would have been separated by natural selection in such a harsh environment, most of them would be able to handle and have practiced with guns, so it would be realistic imho. but i say it should indeed be harder like on the ace mod with wind impacting rifles aswell. to me noone should be able to hit anything 300m+ so easily. but, since in arma everyones a soldier is understandable why it works like it does, so its dayz that must be tweaked.

    looking good. the game does need some graphical improvements, looking forward for the new zombie spawn system, clothing and inventory. not having hackers will be a relief (been playing everyday on dif servers, and every single day a wild hacker appears) would like vaulting/jumping over fences like in the smk mod, but would like 1 thing in particular a lot more: guns to go back to the damage they used to have, with a 45 pistol not requiring a buttload of shots to kill someone, when in reality would just take 1 to the chest for someone to fall to the ground. isnt cool to give that 1 hit advantage solely for high precision snipers. edit.: one more thing accually, i believe certain graphics settings should be stuck and not changeable, so all players see the same thing and are held to the same tactics. like on lower settings you pretty much can see ppl that try to hide on the grass rendering that tactic useless, and you can easily spot players far up the hills, whilst with high settings you cannot, especially if theyre using ghillie.

  24. if aiming gets even worse than running when jumping my opinion is that noone is gonna bunny jump. but he should be able to jump over small things quickly like one would be able in real world. i find this absolutely necessary. like this: just pay something to whoever made this and apply it to the stand alone already. another thing is third person and the ability to see above walls and corners without risking yourself. this tomb raider gameplay style is completely unrealistic and sucks, and unfortunately there are pratically no mercenary servers avaiable (that dont allow 3rd person), even less that have acceptable ping times.
  25. played in 3 different servers last few days, on all 3 there were hackers. who here also thinks that the mod will die once the stand alone comes out?
