I wouldnt mind having a longer name space available. Hopefully its easy to change and doesnt require much work, but if it does its not worth it imho. As far as going with the same name, it doesnt matter. This is DayZ, people will try to trick you and fool you. Having a "fake ID" is a part of this, if one chooses to do so :)

They did the same thing for Take On Mars, with dev information/messages in the left corner, and a changelog button in the right corner. Its a great idea, and shouldnt be to hard to create, the question is, is it worth creating, when theres so much other stuff to pay attention to atm? Perhaps they can even "borrow" some code, because its the same company haha.

A temporary rage stopper. Increase fall required to die.
byrgesen replied to KiskilleAcronym's topic in Suggestions
First off, the engine is what we have, it will not change, theres no "new engine" coming, they are developing the engine as we play. Second, while i agree, sometimes the fall damage is abit to retarded, its easy to avoid imho. Untill we get some kind of weight system into the game, theres no reason to touch the falling damage what so ever. But fyi, you can easily break your leg, when falling 4 meters, in fact you can die from falling 4 meters. It depends entirely on the weight you are carring and how you land. -
Very true, im just used to aiming at the head with everything, because i often run around with other melee weapons :D
-
Then you are doing it wrong mate. One punch to the head of the zombie and it will drop to the ground, its so easy. And once it goes down, just keep hitting it in the head and it will drop over and over until it dies, 15 secs later :) As far as axes goes, its just take one step to either side and swing at the head, boom its dead.

Imho theres so much other stuff to spend precious development time on, even after 1.0, because we can all agree the game wont be "finished" when it hits 1.0. Just look at Arma III, it was released as a final version but was far from done and is still being worked on and improved. I think the same will happen to DayZ. As others have mentioned, having the ability to fully costumize the face of a character, isnt that important, because the only time you will be close to people, are if you know them or if you find that extremly rare friendly stranger. And when you run around with your friends, you pay a lot more attention to what they are wearing, not how they're eyes look like. If they got nothing else to do after release, sure, but this is at the very buttom of the priority list in my world, because it adds nothing to the game and the time and effort could be spend on much more valuable mechanics/features in game.

Are you using Vsync? If not, try to enable it, it might be tearing/artifacts caused because the game is trying to render the image faster then your screen will allow.

The new location of the balota camp screams "sniper bait!"
byrgesen replied to TheWizard14's topic in General Discussion
Tbh i dont see this as a bad thing. Going to the military camps should be one of the most dangerous things to do ingame, and going alone should be a certain death sentence. I am glad they moved it away from the shore, it was to easy to go to balota and gear up, in less them an hours after spawn. -
Ok haha, i will explain better :D I would love for him to give his opinions on the topics in the status report. So if he could read it, talk about it, maybe try and find pictures or other graphical information relevant, to the topics, i think it would be a really good source of information and oppinions :) I know what i think about the status report, but i would also like to know what Septic thinks, based on his experience. But yeh, it might just be an excuse to hear his voice haha.
-
Again, im talking entirely about the status report, not the patch...... Everything you just said doesnt apply at all mate, the status report is final, for this week, and it wont change. We are talking about to very different things, and the video isnt about any patch, its about the weekly status report :)
-
Yeh i know he makes patch videos, and i love them :) But there arent gonna be added any more "features" to the weekly report. I just missed a more indepth analasys of the stuff in the report and i think it will be a big help for people who are having trouble reading that much english at once. I dont mind reading it, but i would love to hear it instead, its much easier to understand in my world :) I only say this because i like Septic's videos and i want more haha. Constructive critisism is always a good idea.
-
I liked it, but instead of a 3 min highlight, why not make a 5-10 min detailed summary, for people who are either having trouble reading or to lazy to read it all? :) Put some lists and pictures, in there and summarize everything into a nice video.

Experimental Branch: 0.49 Discussion
byrgesen replied to haknslash's topic in PC Experimental Updates
Although reddit is very good at throwing unofficial patch notes together. If you go one page back in this thread, theres a link to one for 0.49 exp, on reddit :) Its all we got to work with, im afraid. -
Experimental Branch: 0.49 Discussion

Then do us all a favor and uninstall the game, instead of crying like a little girl here. Or even better, provide constructive critisism and feedback, instead of a rant..... Experimental doesnt have patch notes. -
SERVER MAINTENANCE is upon us! what will you do with yourself
byrgesen replied to R0B3RTF1SH3R's topic in General Discussion
No stable update today http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?%2Ftopic%2F210584-reddit-eugenharton-on-stable-servers-are-down-for-scheduled-maintenance-this-period-usually-lasts-3-hours%2F -
That would be so awsome, if it is possible :) Imagine breaking into a barricaded house and finding 100's of pictures all over the walls lol.
-
Think of it more as a testing ground for the Alpha, not a Beta at all. Its just Steam's wierd choice of words imho. Experimental is nothing but the first iteration of content BI pushes to the public for testing, once it somewhat works it get pushed to stable, and the cycle continues. Its a great place to catch bugs and gamebreaking issues, before 2.5 million people get the patch downloaded on stable. If you think its stupid, its obviously because you have no idea how game development works and what public alpha/beta testing means mate, no offense, but this is a great way to test out new builds.

When i think of the Apple Livestream, this is all i can think about lol http://www.theladbible.com/articles/apple-live-went-down-and-twitter-reacted-in-a-hilarious-way

Well internet humor and sarcasm is not easy for me hah :D Apologies mate.
-
So that would be me and my friend or?? Lets keep the personal attacks to a minimum shall we mate.....
-
I know several people who do actually :) One of my friends played the new diablo expansion for almost 30 hours straight at release (yes he has no life, but thats beside the point) Im sorry mate, but all i see is a bad idea and another bad idea imho, and i asure you im not doing this to be a dick :)

Theres such a thing as "to realistic" for a video game :) And basicly what you are suggesting punishes people for not logging off. Let the player behind the screen, suffer and deal with the consequences, we dont need the video game telling us we are tired and need sleep tbh. This goes into the same box as having to take a piss, a dump, cleaning your nails, brushing teeth, washing your hair and so on, its just to realistic and without a point in this game imho. Instead of using the word realistic, use the word authentic. Its much more suited for video games. Nobody wants a "Real Life Simulator", we play that game every day hehe. People want authenticity in games.
-
So when people get together to do a weekend lan, they can only play for x hours before they are forced to log off and play something else. Some people dont sleep for an entire weekend, and do nothing but play games you know. I would call it punishment tbh.
-
So you want to punish people for playing to much? Cmon mate. Its just as bad as the OP's suggestion imho.
-
Was just about to mention state of decay :) But no, this is not a good feature to have in a video game, it does nothing but punish people who doesnt have time to play every day imho.
