Why would a non passworded private be any safer then a non passworded public? Hackers will come, if there are no password or whitelist, thats just a fact tbh. Sure you can "admin" more on a private, but its still the same general layer of security. BE only does so much, so password or whitelist is the ONLY way forward, out of this hacker infested hellhole we ended in my friends. You should create a nice thread, take your time with the details and advertise. People will come to passworded or whitelisted servers to play, because of this simple fact:

Its gonna be very difficult to find a server with expert & 3rd on :) it doesnt fit hehe. but come look at our community mate. we got 4 servers, 2 difficulties and 2 hives running. click my signature banner and see :)

they dont fill up completely yet, we just launched to more servers, 2 days ago, so we need more people really. and since we got opposite day/night cycle, some people tend to move to the daylight servers when it gets dark heh. but we are a good bunch so far, so its only a matter of time bfore the servers are full again :) hopefully hehe feel free to bring friends or even a whole clan to mix thigs up :) all are welcome in our hacker free paradise of death :)

Hmm as far as i know, the actual server doesnt have anything to do with cdkey. Its the people joining the server, that gets checked. Ive ran a server and played from the same computer, if your theory is correct, that would have "dupped" my cd-key and kicked either the server or my cleint. Seing as 2 of the same cant be online :) I believe it can be done, as you dont even need to have steam running, once its downloaded. Steam is just a fancy download program for arma really. Try it mate, im sure its possible. The only problem you might run into, is steam not allowing 2x same user to be connected, but again, its only need for download and then a first time run of all arma games. After that its, bye bye steam hehe

Take a look at my signature :) We got a gaming communty going and are currently working on expanding to more servers.

Because its a community and not a random public shoot-em-up server. If you dont like it, dont write in it. Insted use the intell written in it to screw people over :) Think of it as you having a radio and listening in on other peoples transmissions, theres some immersion ;) Its impossible to run a community with the same people, if they dont have the option to talk. Spammers and people who abuse the chat are stopped ofc. Its not ment for that at all. I can see it breaks the immersion for the ultra hardcore, but community is more important for us then immersion. No community would be the same as going back to public hives.
