  6. If only the KOS kiddies could learn to rob or actually play the game the way its ment to be played. Player interaction is the focus, not Player versus player combat. Yes its sandbox, yes you do what you want, but that also gives you a big responsibility. Remember with great powers comes great responsibility ;) Running around and shooting people on sight, because you can doesnt give you a big penis or a hairy chest.... Im sorry but you have been misinformed!!!

    I would say less, as SA is not build on arma III engine alone. It will most likely be somewhere between arma II and III when it comes to minimum requirements. I still think SA will use less "internet" then arma, as arma is running a shit load of scripts client side, and thats not really gonna happen in SA. All they need is an Input and Output, but nothing is gonna run client side, except the actual application it self. Just like other MMO's, where you dont really do anyting other then displaying content client side, 99% of all scripts are gonna be server side, to give the best possible protection. At least thats how i understand "MMO Architecture" :) But basicly if you can run arma III, theres no way in hell you arent gonna be able to run SA.
  9. Right, totally forgot that. That pretty much nails it :) So they will eat us to stay alive, a basic survival instinct. Could it then be possible the virus knows it cant survive on tainted flesh? They should prob attack animals to then :)

    Yes for god sakes yes, remove the big ass rifles pls :) A weapon with that kind of dmg doesnt belong in the mod tbh, its to powerfull.
  11. True, i hope they do. The current animals are to dumb lol. As for our Z's eating us, i am not sure, tbh. We can only speculate about that, as the animations ingame is to poor to make any kind of judjement and Rocket has never said anything about them actually eating us. If its infected and not zombies, then i dont see the point to make them eat us really. It doesnt fit the 28 Days Later infected style he is going for.
  12. Awsome articel mate, it really paints a good picture of the 28 Days Later infected :) Well, do the virus have to be based on something we already know? It could possibly be a "new" designer virus, not seen the likes of before. But in general i think the 28 days later virus is proberly the one closest to the DayZ virus. I really like how they explain the zombies disregard for food or any kind of nourisment. The virus simply makes them forget it :) As for animals and z's, i dont really know. If the Z's were starting to attack animals, all the animals would have left tbh. They arent staying where they are hunted, thats basic prey instincts. For that to be believeble, we would need a complete mehcanic for animals, kinda like zombies now. So they need to check range and who is near them and what not, or else it would seem like the animals arent noticing they are being killed :) Which would be very bad hehe.
  13. The idea of zeds attacking zeds seems wrong to me tbh. I think its very possible we are dealing with the most advanced virus the world has ever seen, so we could talk about the fact that the virus can use your memories and uses them to target theyre rage. Maybe it knows by "instinct" that the other guys are infected, kinda like "the faculty" (even though thats parasites), and it would know not to harm others of the same kind. Its abit out there, but i think its a better explanation then zombies just attacking uncontrolled towards everything. I mean, its very likely the virus takes actual control of the nerve centres in the brain, rather then just making them incredibly aggressive. Theres actually a fungus which is targeting ants and infesting the brain and makes the ant do things they dont normally do, to help the fungus reproduce and survive. Just imagine an engineered virus doing that.

    dayz 2017 question

    On open dayz forums they said "Beginning of March" so i would assume the next 2017 update to be right around the corner and with some big additions :) http://opendayz.net/...ing-out-d.7516/ As for what should and should not be in the mod, theres pretty much a mod for every kind of player now. If 2017 doesnt fit your taste, try 1 of the other mods, theres so many with different weapons, vehicles and mechanisms. Its pretty clear to see each DayZ mod's general direction and what the devs want in it. But you can always come with suggestions to the dev team, by using open dayz forums. I do know for a fact that theres alot comming for he next 2017 update. Its gonna be HUGE :D

Finally, lets try and narrow down what kind of infected we are dealing with :) 1: Could simulate the level of decay the brain is in, forgetting more and more fundamental stuff, like walking or even "bunny jumping", causing them to finally crawl around. 2: TBH if they are gonna have the skill to open doors, they should only do it whe chasing a player. It doesnt make much sense they open doors just to open doors :) And they should be able to open doors based on the "lvl of decay", so old infected cant remember it, but fresh ones would. 3: Well, it would depend on what area of the brain gets stimulated by the virus. They might have extra activity in the visual part, or hearing part of the brain because they are instincly looking for something to feed on. One could assume only the primal funtions work, like sight, hearing and smell, but no higher funtion like reasoning or "thinking". So they would see "unusual" movement and just react to it no matter what. As for fire im going with the "moths drawn to a flame" theory :) Something instinctive must be causing them to go towards fire, maybe the virus works better if the body is warm, thus forcing the mind to go towards fire. 4: Same as above, the virus must force them to pay attention to noise and sight, since thats the primary way of finding food for humans. We dont really use our other senses much tbh. "if it looks good it usually tastes good" theory. They might also retain some kind of memory, as suggested by many games and movies, which would help the virus determine the best way of finding "food", we can only assume its a very very complicated and effective virus. 5: Well, its possible the virus "knows" that feeding on infected flesh wont keep you alive. Basicly it could be "hardcoding" new instints into the brain, when its taking over control. It might need a special mix of vitamins and minerals only found in human flesh. We have to consider the fact that the virus evolves and learns aswell. 6: I would say survival combined with insane amount of agression. But again, do we actually get eaten or do they just beat us up like in 28 Days Later? We dont know, but it kinda looks like its beating and killing by brute force. Wild movements and hitting and scrathcing, They dont really bite tbh. (based on ingame animations) This also questions all of the above answers, as it could all be due to a rabies like virus causing huge amount of aggression and destructive behavior and maybe have nothing to do with survival. A kinda "search and destroy" virus, which backfired on the military. 7: Right now, nothing seems to happen with them. This would support the idea that they are eating us to stay alive. We deff need some kind of "zombie decay" system, to figure out how they get nutrients, or if thats even a concern of theyres. It might be like 28 Days Later, where they die after an amount of time, because they dont feed. Wow a long answer :) This is a big subject and theres so much to figure out tbh. But it all comes down to what kind of infected/zombie are we actually dealing with and what does the virus do? Only Rocket could answer that tbh. Hopefully he has time (doubt it lol), if not we can talk forever heh. Perhaps someone from the dev team or a mod would know?

    dif server dif inv ?

    In the begginning there were only official servers. They were all joined together on 1 database and the hackers loved it, this means you had your gear on ALL servers. Then came the private servers, where most databases only have 1 server connected to the it, meaning your gear is only on that server. Its really difficult to figure out whats official and whats not, by server names. You need to join most of the time, but a good reminder is Official cannot be passworded or whitelisted, they are ALWAYS public or they will get blacklisted and loose acces to the DB. As for dying, if the servers doesnt have the same character saved, they are in NO WAY connected and nothing you do on #1 will affect #2, meaning you end up with 10+ different chars if you move around alot. Thats both good and bad tbh. A good advice, find a private server with whitelist and stay there. Its the best gaming experience you can get in DayZ, as theres so much more control, less hacking and generally good support from admins. As for standard starter gear: bandage, painkiller, flashlight and backack. thats it. Back in the day you had a gun, but they removed it :)

    You should go to the commander forums mate: http://forums.dayzcommander.com/ Write your problem and if an error is popping up, link to a screen with it. As far as i know theres isnt really any support here for commander.

    How do I find a servers IP address?

    Go here and type in the server name: http://arma2.swec.se/server/list It will show you all the information you could ever want on ALL arma servers :) As for joining by IP, go into the arma multiplayer screen (ingame) and use remote connect, jsut type in IP and viola :) It is possible to add favorites to Commander by IP only, but i dont know what kind of launcher (if any) you are using.

    Since its based on MMO architeture, its most likely gonna be similar to many other MMO's out there tbh. But that is something we havent heard anything about yet, maybe because Internet usage is never an issue in MMO games, they dont really use much tbh. But i cant tell for sure tbh, we havent got info on it, as far as i remember.

    Dayz for Laptops

    Lenovo g780 works fine for me. I figured out if you set everything to low and off, and then change the 3D resolution to 125-200% it looks amazing (compared to before) and uses nowhere near what it uses with AA and PPE. Its really difficult to find a spot where you are happy with looks vs performance, when you dont have a super rig to run all on max XD But i found that AA, PPE and Object Detail is what sucks the life out of the CPU and GPU, everything else didnt have a big impact on performance, so i think thoose would be the ones to get performance on. But try setting 3D resolution higher then Interface Resolution, it might give you more FPS and still look good, even though all other settings are on "ive got a crap rig" ;)

    Toilet Paper & First Aid

    Even the smallest scratch can turn into a nasty staph infection that can kill you, when you dont live in a somewhat steril enviorement. Small cuts in an apocalypse are deff not to be taken lightly, they need to be kept clean and clear of dirt untill its healed, which takes a couple of days even for the smallest scratch :) We are just used to not getting infected because we have become upsessed with cleaning everything in our world :) That would stop instant at an apocalypse. Just think about your clothes in an apocalypse. It would be a mix of your blood, coagulated, zombie blood, also coagulated and then a various mix of mud and what not, combined with weeks of swet. All of this equals a massive amount of bacteria, directly into your fresh little cut, thats could kill you if not taken care of. Even if you washed your clothes it would still hold bacteria, because theres no soap rofl.

    Toilet Paper & First Aid

    Well, even in a normal home today, toilet paper is incredibly more steril then a towel or anything hanging around. The fact that its rolled in so many layers, preserve the layers further in, if its treated well ofc, thus making it more steril then a towel, which have been hanging for who knows how long :) A good example of this is if you get a piercing, you always get advised to use toiletpaper to dry it after a shower, as towels simply holds so much more bacteria. So just think about a sheet or a rag on the floor in an apocalypse :) But i like the idea of a "make-shift" bandage of toiletpaper, it should have a chance of failing on apply and it should not be as "good" as a bandage, maybe only works for a certain amount of time, to simulate the blood bleeding through it, or have a chance of lowering the amount of blood lost insted of actually stopping it right away? And ofc chance of infection on use heh And this ofc: At least some kind of tape or "glue" to stick it to the arm after rolling it on.
