  1. Not a game for me so i dont know how it works there :) But if its done right it could be an amazing feature really.

    Campfire damage

Rain should put it out and you should catch fire if you stand in it for more then a couple of secs. :) It should also dmg you, especially when you think about the crazy blast range and dmg of explosives, it doesnt make sense fire wont hurt you hehe. Great idea :)
  3. Great idea, although your scope has to be very shaky and almost impossible to aim, if the vehicle is moving. But being able to park a car on a hill and use the door as a aiming support, to steady the aim, is a very very good idea. Especially with the new mechanism to open and close vehicle doors, they talk about in the devblog. Would love to see this if its done right, no GTA style shooting pls hehe.

    climbing tall walls for standalone

Well, unlike Arma, players in DayZ doesnt have 50kg gear with them, unless your über pro or cheating, so its actually not a bad idea. It should take 5-10 secs though and you should be totally defensless in that time, so you have to think about the possible consequenses. And maybe the players will only be able to climb walls with next to nothing on them. With 2 guns and some vehicle part on you, you should not be able to do this. But in a post-apocalyptic world people would deff try to climb a wall, if its possible, to get to resources. The problem however is the amount of time thats needed to make this happen. New animations and all that takes a HUGE amount of time, so it might not be a priority at all. EDIT: Forgot to add you should not be able to climb a wall higher then you can reach with your hands. No jumping 1m and climbing over a 3-4m wall pls :) And your character should get very tired and start breathing heavily when you climb over things. Remember you are a surviver, starved and dehydrated looking for food and other resources. You wouldnt have the "power" to constant climb walls over and over again.
  5. You just explained how theese forums work XD Over half of all answers are exactly like that, but its the internet so people just doesnt give a rats ass. @gummy52 Try having a convo i real life like that and see how you fail, ohh wait, maybe the problem is you arent having convos in real life so you are used to answer everything in one line sentences, that doesnt make sense and doesnt help anyone... And i also agree with alot of the posts about the Devblogs not being used properly, it is disapointing really.

(FIXED) Micro Stuttering - Please help

Nice one mate. Zonealarm might be the biggest culprit, theres major issues with it and Arma III, so it might be the same with Arma II :) But ive never heard about Catalyst or RadeonPRO slowing a system like that. Nice you got it fixed though :)
  7. Orlok i need to see it to believe it heh. Havent been able to find anything BI has released for consle in the past. I will weep in silence and hope it never happens XD I feel this is as much a console game as Need For Speed is a PC game to use keyboard with :) EDIT: Np i found it my self  A 2005 release of OFP: Elite and Carrier Command ofc lol.
  8. I guess i just settled my mind on the first sentence ;) But i see your point. This pretty much ruins your argument though. Just because it was v1.x doesnt mean its not Beta, according to minecraft Wiki. The last beta was 1.8.1 as far as i can read. Althought the final release started at v.1.0. It also clearly states the feature freeze in the end beta stage, so again, the "old" definition about Perpetual Beta applies just fine here. And the added content after v.1.0 release is nothing major, just smaller additions of mobs, blocks and items, but nothing major which would require game engine changes, again fitting for the definition on Wikipedia :) You can also look at the "Table Of Features" on minecraft WIKI and see the Beta and the Full client has the same features, except for "Premium Account Features". I understand what you are trying to say, but the thing is, people are sticking to the definitions for a reason, they still apply and are used on an everyday basis in software development :) But i dont think the SA will be released as a perpetual beta at all.

(FIXED) Micro Stuttering - Please help

Yeh it could be corrupt files, but i really doubt it. Are you using Beta drivers for your hardware? It could possible be your hardware working temp? If you say it started some months ago and before that it was fine. Is your CPU or GPU fan full of crap? Is it the correct working temp or to hot/cold? Perhaps it got overheated at some point is is partially damages now? It has happened to me before, on GTX 560 TI.
  10. Well actionman did write 100 million, not 100k and i believe he is talking about actual development, not advertisement and PR exspenses and so on, so its plausible tbh. I cant say for sure, but i did find an articel saying COD: Modern Warfare 2 costed around 200m $ to make, with all expenses. And here some on COD: 4: Still BI is nowhere near that amount of money and resources, so they cant spit out a game every other year like the other "giants" on the playing field. Thats a good thing though, a small dev team usually means money isnt the primary objectve. Usually ;) EDIT: Found another articel about average gaming development expenses: But do remember BI is only making single platform games :) They dont have to spend money on PS3 or XBOX launches, so they have even fewer money to work with, because theres only 1 platform to earn them on.

(FIXED) Micro Stuttering - Please help

I know Arma III has issue with Zone-Alarm, dunno about Arma II though. But you are saying you have stuttering even on low resolution and with no "special effects" on? So it doesnt matter if its 1600x900 or 800x600, it still stutteres? Even with everything on low/off? If thats the case, it can almost only be hardware related. Maybe you should get a program to show read/write to the HDD and see how much load its under? Try this: http://crystalmark.i...rk/index-e.html Another possible culprit could be a Beta patch, doing something weird o your Hardware. Its seen before with Beta patches making the game perform worse, but im really not sure about this.
  12. Try my best XD But seriously, people nowadays are uninformed demanding small children, with no sense of reality but still "all-knowing" somehow, because theyre entire life revolves around the phrases "fast" and "instant". Everything has to be created now, or even better yesterday, and it has to work out of the box with no bugs, and it has to do everything at the same time AND they want acces to it now. Nobody have the patience to wait for a good product anymore, and as soon as people use money on something we feel "obligated" to "enlighten" all others who bought the same product and the devs of the product. Patience is a long gone virtue in this globalised world we live in and people, in general, doesnt even bother to read up on things to get backgrond knowledge, they just assume they are right. Theres countless threads on this forum, showing prime examples of the impatient humanity and what we have degenerated to. :) Its the same world as always, but the "information age" have given everybody an easy way to vent frustrations without any kind of resposibility attached, (internet) so people will ofc do this without any thoughts. This is all general talk, not pointing at anypone specific, merely the entire human race as a whole. And i will gladly admit i was like this a couple of years back. Im not proud i was like that, but i did something about it. Ok, rant is done, back to topic XD -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Its gonna be nice to get hand os SA heh, but i dont mind waiting a long time for something awsome. A rushed game, in this genre, was already released and we all know how that went (WarZ) :D

(FIXED) Micro Stuttering - Please help

DayZ commander is know to "eat" resources like a mofo :) Just saying. This could also be caused by your HDD, as Arma reads directly from the HDD and doesnt really use RAM that much. So if you have a great CPU/GPU but an older HDD that will be your bottleneck and it will slow your entire game down, alot actually. SSD makes a world of difference in Arma. And unless you have 16+gb RAM, RAMDISK isnt an option really, as Arma II is 8gb+ in size and you would need to move most, if not all files, to the RAMDISK to get improvements. Also, dont ever expect Arma to utilize 6 cores, it just wont. Its only 32 bit exe so anything above 4gb RAM and 4 cores isnt gonna be used in Arma. Heck it even has trouble using 4 cores properly :) But you are deffinatly not the only one with this issue in Arma. Dont have a solid fix for it though :(

    Start DayZ or Arma2?

If you want to learn to fly the choppers the Boot Camp is the perfect place tbh. You dont need to do anything other then starting it and you can choose to fly Transport or Attack chopper. It really is great training :) The editor is abit more complex, so if you are new to arma i would stay away from it in the beginning, it might confuse you more then you want heh. Boot Camp ftw, thats what its there for anyway heh.
  15. Bla bla bla. Alpha and Beta and Final is still the same as it was 10 years ago.... You are talking abuot the very foundation of software development here. The release model changed yes, but the definition of Alha and Beta did not. Alpha: Beta: Release Candidate: Source: https://en.wikipedia...ease_life_cycle So basicly what you are saying is that "the old alpha and beta definition is invalid", but thats far from the case. They do indeed still apply and companies try theyre best to stick by them. The only reason people complain about this now is because 10 years ago, companies didnt do much open testing, they do now. But the rules of the game is the same, you are just part of it now. Ohh and btw, back in the older minecraft versions, there were tons of bugs and crappy code in the game, i would know i hosted servers back then, and Notch didnt clean anything untill the Beta. The open Alpha was unstabile, it crashed alot and had alot of gameplay bugs. Sound familiar? :D

    Start DayZ or Arma2?

Like Dave_ says, start with Arma II. Theres an exellent bootcamp with missions for each and every thing in Arma, so you can learn it all. Its really worth it tbh. If you jump straight into DayZ, you will be lost and most likely have a hard time having fun, because theres nothing to help you :) Arma is so complex you need to spend some time learning it, it can be tough hehe.
  17. What a wonderful way to put it :D Have some beans heh.
  18. Very true, they will make alot of money on this, but if the main concern was money, we would have the alpha in our hands now (think WarZ and Hammerpoint Interactive -_-)
  19. You are right, they arent spending big bucks, but you obviously dont know what BI is all about, its never been about making big bucks, in any of the Arma games... It wasnt even popular before DayZ. (niche genre) And even with DayZ they still aint no where near EA, or other giants, on sales. BI is a very small company, trying to pull off something nobody else does, a complex shooter borderlining to pure simulation, with all battlefield elements (vehicles, artillery, etc.) and they are doing it like nodoby else tbh. For the SA they are on a completely new playing field. They havent done anything like this before, so one could assume theres more "trial and error" processes, then they have in TOH or Arma III. That could be one of the biggest reason as to why its not relesed yet. To much brand new code Yes yes, engine and all that, i know. But they are trying to make the Real Virtuality game engine do things it has never been able to do before. It takes alot more time then simply "adapting" the engine for the next gen game, like TOH and Arma III. And dont be fooled by the big companies out there, BI is not here to make big bucks like them. They "sacrifice" popularity and money for fantastic gameplay and content, you can call it theyre business model :) Even the BI devs have said multible time, they are implementing stuff into the game, because they want it in the game, not because it will earn them more money... Thats what i love about them, they have integrity compared to most others. Just because most companies rip you off and make you pay for every little thing, doesnt mean everybody does that.

*How to make DayZ use dedicated GPU?*

I am playing on a Lenovo G780 laptop and i can clearly feel a difference when i boot up the Nvidia card, compared to intel HD. But Arma in general isnt to happy with mobile CPU's, they have a hard time keeping up. That would be because Arma is primarily run on your CPU, so even with a killer GPU, you still need a massive CPU to run it fine. On the other hand it doesnt really care about your ram, because its reading directly from the HD, insted of filling the RAM like most other games, so SSD makes a huge difference. This becomes even more apperent when you go play Arma III :) Get a goooooood CPU, a sweet SSD and a AMD card, they seem to perform alot better then Nvidia in Arma, costs/perfomance wise.
  21. Hmm does he mean releasing keys in batches for the open alpha? Damn, one gotta be fast at the trigger to get a copy then :( You could end up waiting weeks to participate if your really unlucky perhaps. Im not much for the whole "tier goodies" on kickstarter, they should do it exactly like Arma III in my opinion. Ohh well, rather this then a "diablo III" look-a-like release -_-

Which should I use? DayZ commander or PlayZ withSIX

Well. :) Commander if you only play DayZ and never ever intend to try out other Arma content. It is also more simplified then SIX, and takes near no practice to master, but its DayZ only. SIX if you play DayZ but you are interested in other Arma content. You get access to a ton of mods for Arma II, Including DayZ and almost all the varieties of the mod. It takes abit more practice to master, but allows you to choose between mods by the flick of a button. Both have the ability to add start parameters, search for servers and join directly or just start the game normally. I personally started with commander, but like mentioned above, it eats a lot of resources. So now im using SIX and since Arma III also got added to it, its the right launcher for me. :) The real question is, do you play DayZ because you love DayZ or do you play it because you love the Arma engine? :)

DayZ in a way, has ruined gaming for me!

Just this weekend we had a LAN party with 7 friends. They all came with BF3, COD and a lot of other games like Planet Side 2, Guild Wars 2 and Rift. I sat there looking at them playing and for the first time in my life i was actually mad at my friends becase they are playing thoose games lol. Arma broke me. I spend the entire weekend playing DayZ and Arma 3, barely noticing my friends lol. I cant be arsed to go back to a "regular" gaming experience after i discovered Arma. Thx BI for showing me the light and FU for ruining my experience with all other games XD
  24. 2017 is already full at work with this :) http://opendayz.net/...ggestions.8546/ Its gonna be a new zombie survival mod, written from scratch for Arma III, it will also not be called anything DayZ. :)

    DayZ Standalone Requirements?

Im almost certain its gonna need more "juice" then Arma II. Simply because theres so many features from Arma III, including many textures and what not. But if you can run Arma III, you should be able to handle the SA without problems :) Basicly it all comes down to your CPU, thats the element doing all the calculations. The GPU doesnt do much other then add shadows and render better textures, But im running Arma III on an i3 @ 2.4Ghz and with 8gb RAM and Geforce GT635m @ 2gb, with no issues so i doubt oyour gonna run into issues with that setup mate :)
