Very true :) But most of the time in DayZ you dont see a fireplace burn for more then a couple of mins tbh, its just to dangerous to keep it lit hehe. With all the "track left behind" Rocket wants in the SA, this could very well be one of them. Maybe one would be able to tell from the look of the fireplace when it was put out and for how long it aprox burned? would be awsome :)
-
Its plausible, but do you think a human would keep holding an item when beaten to death by infected? I mean everybody was pretty much beaten to "death" by the infected in a very vicious way. Dunno tbh :)

I couldnt see it mentioned anywhere here, but Arma doesnt really use your RAM. It reads 80-90% of all files directly from HDD so an SSD would make a huge difference in performance. Thats also why the RAM specifications for Arma II is so low (minimum 1gb), compared to the rest of the hardware :) But if you have a huge bunch of ram you can use it for RAMDISK and it should give you alot of performance, because RAM is much faster then any HDD, even SSD. I dont think a whole lot of people know this and realize one of the best ways to improve performance is changing HDD to SSD or using RAMDISK if you have 16+gb of ram.

So you are saying that a fireplace you started 2 mins ago will be as hard to put out as the one you started 15 mins ago? wrong.... Newly started fireplaces are fragile, compared to fireplaces thats been burning and creating embers for a longer time. Its the embers that are hard to put out, not the fire it self, a simple bucket of water will kill the flames but it wont kill the embers and theres no embers in a newly started fireplace. Thats also why you use dirt to cover a fireplace in the nature, it cuts off oxygen and sufficates the embers, thoose are also what is keeping the fire alive, not fire it self..

Theres some good onse but i feel like most of it doesnt really fit in any way. First, we (players) are immune to the virus, so vaccines and everything like that is not important, because we simply cant get the virus :) Second, why would you suggest a pregnacy test? just dont get it hehe. Its not like the virus pumps us full of estrogen XD Third, i only feel like the lead pipe would be a good addition, the rest is realy redundant tbh. If you could explain what exactly we are to use the stuff for, since we cant get the virus, i think people would have an easier time understanding :)

Well, when i ran servers my ban list was HUGE!!!!! Like to the extreme and it didnt have any affect at all on performance. If theres a limit as to what BE can handle its extremly high and you properly dont have to worry about it :)
-
Well it really depends on the amount of time it has been burning before it start raining tbh :) Rain can most deff make a fireplace go out, ive had it happen to me numerous times lol. But sure, if its been burning for a long time it will not go out unless its really heavy downpour, but it can indeed happen.

Lol the slandering in this thread is pathetic....... You are a team, working together to improve DayZ. Act like it.... Ohh and just because someone desides to spend theyre free-time on this "project" doesnt make them any better then anyone else.... You need to work together to make a great game, not pointing fingers like this. It really is pathetic...

Well lets take an example. Did you at any point in either "28 Days Later" or "28 Weeks Later" see any infected using any kind of weapons? I didnt, but i might be wrong here, cant remember it that well. What i mean with "choosing to use it" is, if the Infected is driven by pure instincts, what in the world would cause them to grab something around them insted of simply running straight for the human and beating him up? Im having a hard time seeing how an Infected would actually think about weapons and how to use them, when they just want to kill you as fast and as brute as possible. You do need somekind of thoughts when using a weapon, sure humans do it almost automaticly, but they still need to actually think to do it. Im my world an Infected doesnt think about anything tbh. They are empty shells, using nothing but pure destruction instincts to kill anything that looks remotely human around them. EDIT: Ok i take it back, found this: Source: http://28dayslater.w...ki/The_Infected So i guess it is possible tbh, it kinda depends on how close Rocket want to keep it to "28 Days Later".

GZ on the most idiotic answer of the day..... The whole point of DayZ is, ohh thats right... YOUR STORY!!! So you can play it anyway you want. Pack that elitism away and dont write posts if you got nothing important or usefull to say..................................... Back on topic: You could use the Silent Warrior script or you could use AI, to protect it. BUT if you keep people away from bases like that, they might not wanna play on the server tbh.
-
And for that you deserve beans XD
-
You are right and ive got more then 150h clocked in Arma III already XD Love the clud system. But thats not what the subject is about, its the "blueness" behind the clouds :) Aaaaand you keep teasing... God dammit heh. have some beans.
-
Fragster you teasing mofo XD
-
Would only be unrealistic if its static Blue all day every day tbh :) Dont mind some days with clear blue skies, but deff not everyday hehe.
-
But you would drop it when you die tbh. Especially of your beaten to death by infected or shot by a player. I just cant see how people realisticly could hold on to a weapon, when they turn to infected.
-
Player are immune to the Virus, according to Rocket, so infected weapons wouldnt make you die faster. Unless we think about stuff like blood poisoning, tetanus, inflammation and gangrene, from getting hit with a dirty melee weapon. Which could introduce a whole new lvl of gameplay really. But the virus it self does nothing to the player, we are immune :) Im still gonna have to say no to any kind of infected wielding weapons. Just doesnt fit tbh :)
-
Cmon, i wanna go all Bear Grylls in Chernarus XD If i want to eat bugs to survive, i should have the option tbh. Just like carving a "beef" from a player should be possible. And picking fruits/vegetables up for food. This is the apocalypse, you dont know what you could be forced to do to survive tbh.
-
You are on to something there. Insted of infected with weapons in theyre hands, make the weapons "hang" on the body, like the infected doesnt even care about it. That way you could actually end up having to kill infected because of the weapon they have hanging on them :) Good idea tbh.
-
A not to mention they will be using volumetric clouds from Arma III in the SA. So half the time you might not even see the sky :) But you are right, some of the pictures are "to blue". Im confident smaller "details" like that is not configured properly yet tbh.

Shooting out of the passenger seats of vehicles
byrgesen replied to KA4LxTITANx's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
very true, but thats an entirely other issue, just like firing a weapon in a small room would ruin your ears. But i really hope the Dev team wants stuff like this, it will add a whole new gameplay element and make vehicles more valuable then they are now. -

True, but you are already exsposed in the URAL, just not able to do anything while sitting there :) That should deff change, as people arent static dummies in a car heh. -

byrgesen replied to KA4LxTITANx's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Exactly, you should be able to shoot from anywhere, but your aim should be affected by your position in the vehicle and the speed of the vehicle. If your in the backseat of a HMW, it should be way harder to hit, then shooting from the back of a URAL, because of the restricted movement and shooting stance. -

lol yeh from 5m distance and in the back of a pickup truck going max 10 km/h.... I was talking about shooting out of a vehicle, from a passenger seat at full speed, with your weapon hanging out the window. Ofc the difficulty should change based on weapon and speed of the vehicles, but thats a very very bad example, if you were to do that in DayZ you would die lol. Drive by with 5km/h at 5m distance is a bad idea hehe. Sure sitting in the back and shooting is easier, but thats not all the suggestion was about. Its just one of the possible possitions you can shoot from and not everybody wants a pickup in DayZ :) Try doing what he is doing in the video, at 50-100m range with 50+ km/h. Near impossible to hit anything. -

First of all, you dont have the mobility in a car seat you would have in the chopper. Theres just not room enough. Second, a car driving in Chernarus is not stabile lol, especially if your offroad. Third, you cant hit shit with 50 km/h and an automatic rifle leaning out the window, you have a very unstabile shooting stance so recoil would be inceased and because of the weight of the gun it would sway when ever the vehicle moves. Also remember what you are talking about is highly trained soldiers and military vehicles. A small civilian vehicle is not designed to do anything like this, and its much more unstabile then military vehicles. And you are just a survivor in Chernarus, chances are you arent a soldier, and even if you are you need alot of training to be able to do this without issues. -
Well Rocket has said numerous times he basicly based the Infected off of "28 Days Later" infected, so i would say no. They will kill you with brute force, not weapons. It just doesnt fit into the story at all tbh, coz using weapons = having the ability to actually think and make decisions. As far as im concerned the Virus makes them react on pure instinct and they dont think about anything really. So no from me :)
