That is not true either. Provide constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement and the thread will stay. Provide a rant and demand stuff left and right, like a small child, and it will be "graveyarded". Theres plenty of evidence to show this. More then enough debates about crucial gameplay mechanics or functions, both involving critisism and constructive feedback. But as far as im concerned, the OP made a giant rant and demands left and right, with false facts spread all over the post. Much of what he has mentioned has already been adressed by the devs and explained why its like this atm. This post is pure evidence of "not following development, but still knowing everything".

I almost stopped reading after the first sentence mate. That is simply not true, VBS is created for military contracts, Arma is a game, ment as entertaintment. VBS is created by Bohemia Interactive Simulations (BISim), Arma/ToH/ToM/DayZ is created by Bohemia Interactive Studios (BIS), its not the same company and they most certaintly dont share alot of content. You already answered every question you made, by your own statement here, basicly mate.

Not to mention it would be a bitch to code, i believe :) It would be much easier to give us 3 different direct chats. One for whispers, one for normal (what we have now) and one for shouting. The ranges could be 5m, 20m and perhaps 50-100m :)

Its not a bad idea, but the things is, you need to be really close and it has to be really hot next to the fire and really cold weather, for steam to come off :) I do alot of hiking and i often dry my clothes with fires, but ive only seen steam coming off my clothes, when ive hung it right next to the fire place and when the weather was below zero degrees, celsius ofc. Ive never ever sat next to a fire place and seen steam coming off my wet clothes. Im gonna go with rags here, a dripping clothes feature would be much more usefull and realistic :)

DayZ won't start, not getting past the 'Early Access Game' Screen
byrgesen replied to sYdex's topic in Troubleshooting
Im very interested in how to solve this, as i havent really seen this "bug" before and it would truly classify as game breaking, in the sense that you cant play at all :) But yeh, try window mode like SmashT suggests. -
DayZ won't start, not getting past the 'Early Access Game' Screen
byrgesen replied to sYdex's topic in Troubleshooting
Hmm ok, then it gets tricky hehe. Did you try and run steam as administrator? Have you tried deleting the DayZ folder located in your documents, and resetting all the local settings to default? I havent seen this issue alot, but it might be worth checking out the feedback tracker, if anyone else is having the same issue :) -
DayZ won't start, not getting past the 'Early Access Game' Screen

I ALWAYS just click enter, on the keyboard, insted of using the mouse on the "I Understand" screen, have you tried this? -
Dayz doesn't feel like dayz and heres 2 reasons whyu

I enjoy the silence. Dont want it to change. And i deffinatly dont want changing music, based on what you are doing. Im gonna use TES: Oblivion as an example here, one of my all time favorite games, with some of the greatest RPG ambient music ever made (IMHO). But when you are going along your day, the music is playing in the background and some wolf jumps out of a bush, the music changes instantly to another track and break immersion completely for me. I would never want that for DayZ! Either let it be like now, or give us ambient music which doesnt change based on your actions. -
Removing a certain sound effect?
byrgesen replied to ianderson07@live.com's topic in New Player Discussion
It will most likely be in the game forever without giving you the option to remove it. Dean with it mate B) -
You are right. This is the best way to wear pants with boots, because it keeps them more dry, when walking in mud and watery areas :) Would love to have this option, or perhaps just do it by default on the military boots.
-
Same for me, i just bought the game because i loved it, never needed to try a demo tbh hehe. I was just under the impression that Arma II Free doesnt work any longer, but i cannot confirm, nor deny it :) But i can confirm DayZ mod works just fine on steam, its just a simple download and you are ready to play the mod, without any hassle. Assuming you Combined Operations ofc.

If you ever played the mod, you will know that persistance was an issue from the very beginning :) You could never be 100% sure items would stay and most of the time, when you dropped something in the mod, it simply vanished completely. We also never ever had real persistance, as in i drop a gun on the ground and it stays after a server restart. It was only vehicles, characters and tents, that had persistant inventory basicly, but that was only if you remembered to "save" the object before a server restart, or it would vanish hehe. Good old times lol, much have improved since then, theres no doubt. The persistance they are going for now, is way out of the mods league. I think thats why its causing trouble, combined with the global loot economy. Remember this is still an early prototype of the system, so we cant expect it to work yet. I also want to add, that i cant see anything wrong with adding it to the game. In fact Bohemia should add as much as possible to the game, as soon as possible, to collect as much data as possible, to correct as many bugs as possible. I have no issues with the game mechanics breaking over and over again, and frankly if you expect anything else but tons of bugs and half working functions, at this stage, you are truly naive :) To reach "perfection" one must build and destroy things, a 1000 times over, this is what is happening in DayZ atm. Trial and error is the way they work, most of the people working on DayZ (programming side) has never done anything like this before, let alone made the RV engine do it, so dont expect them to know exactly how to create and fix everything, in a flash :)
-
But what does this mean? I was under the impression that Arma II Free doesnt work any longer and cannot be used to play DayZ, like this, anymore? Am i wrong? :) Because of the whole gamespy thing.

millions of games are not in alpha stage of development. expect bugs and lots of them.

Ive been on morphine for many years, because my back is completely broken. It takes time to build up an addiction, depending on the strenght of the morphine ofc, but its not like heroin, where you have a chance of becoming an addict after 1 or 2 tries. I like the idea, but i dont know how easy it would be to implement, as you would have to use morphin several times, for many people MANY times, before you have a serious addiction problem. I also want to add, that i stopped taking it, from day to day, after a 5 year intake of the pills. I did not feel pain, i did not get serious withdrawals, no shakes, no exsessive sweating. I had a headache for about a week and was very low on energy, and then everything was back to normal. Theres a huge difference, from person to person, how they react to morphine and how easy they become an addict. If we where talking heroin, opium or something of that magnitude, or if you werent taking it because of pain, it would be very different. Just for the record, i know morphine is an opiate, but opium in its pure form is much more addictive then morphine. A quick quote from the wiki:

Suggestion: the game does not tell you whether or not you are "Dead" or "Unconscious"
byrgesen replied to cheeseburger8's topic in Suggestions
If people have to wait several mins, to figure out if they get back up again, they will respawn. Most players in todays world have the attention span of a grasshopper on meth :P They do not want to wait hehe. -
Im at a complete loss here. How can anyone believe that an effective AC doesnt scan your computer for software processes, they wont allow? Did any of you play WOW? Because Warden has been doing this ever since the beginning. (I know because i was banned several times for "botting", where they could show me exactly when the software was running) How is this a bad thing? Its not like they have complete acces to your entire computer and is sucking the information out of you (like Facebook and Google!!!) If you arent running any of the software, thats not allowed, it wont affect you in any way, what so ever.

And this will get 9/10 people killed by zombies, before they even spawn into the game :) The only way this would work, is to make people invinsible for the first 10-20 secs after spawning, but i doubt that would happen tbh.

Servers with connection issues to central hive
byrgesen replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
Wrong thread for this. Use the bugtracker: http://feedback.dayzgame.com/my_view_page.php -
I to doubt they track individual items like this, but on the other hand, tracking items is the foundation of the global loot economy :) So who knows tbh, perhaps they track all items, perhaps they only track certain items.
-
If thats the case, im afraid nobody can answer what item has survived the longest :) But people might have stories to share about guns changing hands hehe.
-
Im not really sure i understand the question :) Might have to elaborate abit mate. But back in the mod, Mountain Dew and the Lee Enfield rifle, was some of the most iconic items. Mountain Dew was said to be cursed, and most people seemed to die, shortly after they picked it up :) The Lee Enfield rifle was known as "the dinner bell" because it didnt matter when you fired it, you would get a swarm of zombies. Sometimes even in the middle of a fucking field lol. As far as SA goes, i think its still to soon for any of this to arise :) Although the Mosin has already become somewhat of an icon, ingame hehe.
-
Rofl, im not gonna question your motives, in this specific situation mate :P Sound like you had a moment of brilliance (i know, i have them often aswell haha) You could always make up a cool story about the cellar. Still, i was refereing to doing it in a zombie apocalypse, not in the middle of the night, in our everyday lives haha :D

Correct me if im wrong mate, but isnt pulling the trigger 10 times and giving it a shoulder, "without much struggle? :) I never said it was easier then a sledge hammer, i just said pretty much every single firearm in this game can blow out a lock (provided its not a security lock, just a regular one ofc) within minutes. Ofc a slegde hammer is easier hehe, thats why the police have been using them and other breaching tools, like a battering ram, over the years. Im just saying that a firearm will destroy the lock quickly, letting you inside with little hassle and struggle, compared to kicking it in or using a knife/screwdriver. As far as im concerned, if they put in "unbreakable" items, we might aswell be playing H1Z1 or Epoch.... If it breaks IRL, it breaks ingame, or we might aswell throw immersion directly out the window :) Ofc, if they do something clever, like putting "security doors" into the game, it would be alot more interesting. Those bastards are near impossible to get in to, without an explosive breach of sorts :) But nothing should be unbreakable in this game, IMHO, Especially a door.
-
Honestly, give me a screwdriver and a hammer, and i will open 9/10 doors for you :) Especially if the doors look like the ones we have in Chernarus, they are almost all made of wood. Metal beats wood every time hehe.
