    BattlEye Bans?

    This is for Arma 2, where you actually had a CD-key that matters. In DayZ we do not have keys, we have a steam account, where the game is bound to. I was under the impression they did this to prevent this exact issue and therefor its "impossible" to steal a key from DayZ SA. You actually have to steal an entire steam account. This is also the reason they want VAC, to be able to ban people from steam, if BE bans arent enough in the future. Back to the topic: You also have to understand BE in DayZ works in conjuction with BE for Arma 3, so if you do something stupid in A3 and get banned, a DayZ ban will be waiting around the corner. This is, at least, the way ive always understood it, and we have seen people getting baan in DayZ because of cheating in A3. But ive never heard about an actual cd-key for DayZ SA, its bound to your steam account/ID and it cannot be moved or deleted (like 99% other steam games btw) So your friend could be a false positive, or he could have been doing bad things in A3 perhaps. Perhaps the "FPS tool" is on some kind of list, like Warden in WOW, so if you run this program next to your game you get banned, simple as that. BE does check your running processes while you are playing, so keep that in mind BE should be able to give you a specific reason for it.

    This has been the official version ever since Rocket started the experiment back in the day with the mod and a single server, so chances of this changing now are very slim tbh. Just saying :)

    Im not saying its the worst idea or i hate it or anything, ive just read so much about Rocket's "vision" for this game, so i feel confident enough to say this will most likely never happen :)

    But the reason you arent a Z in the game is because we (players) are immune to the virus, so this is kinda misplaced mate :) We cannot become infected, we can only get sick and die from fever, food poisioning and what not. You have to realise theese arent "zombies", think more like 28 days later infected. Living humans with a rabies "look-a-like" virus, which forces them into this raging condition you see. But you can kill them like regular people, by stopping they're hearts :) So for me, this is far from the actual story of the game and would most likely never happen :)

    Deeper character creation

    Some of this would not be possible, such as height, since the skeleton in our "player" is locked to fit animations, items and to make future hitbox's fit on different areas and what not. Dont get me wrong, would love some more options, but im afraid we wont be seing anything that would actually alter the shape of our player, believe it will be only cosmetics.

    Very true, but they dont want to copy stuff from the mod. They want to develop something 10x more complex for the SA to make it stand out, coz if its the same whats the purpose? Dont you think if they just copied from the mod, we would have SO much more content by now? Thats the entire purpose of SA, to make it into the game the mod cannot be. Back on track: Dont expect any kind of huge content updates any time soon, work is still focussed on the "foundation" of the engine, so 9/10 things they make the next 1-2 months is something you arent gonna notice tbh. Once the foundation is sturdy and ready for big content upgrades, we will see alot of this come into the game, but untill then most of the pathces will be "under the hood stuff".

    Dayz view distance

    If its anything like Arma 2 and 3, that value will tell the game when to render objects in the distance, not the actual distance you can look. shadowZDistance=100; = Shadows, not really important tbh viewDistance=2000; = How far you can see terrain, not the object on the terrain. DayZ has a "kinda" Fog Of War, which is controlled by this setting. preferredObjectViewDistance=1600; = How far the object are being rendered. Stuff like houses, trees, barrels, rocks and what not. This is mine atm and it works great, i edited it my self.
  9. Wow wow wow.... Lets calm down abit here hehe. DayZ isnt even a game yet, its a broken "way-to-early" alpha build, and the devs have written this everywhere: So basicly you are comparing a game, which isnt even a game yet, to theese titles, which have been in development for a lot longer. Give DayZ a year to develop into an actual game and then start comparassing. The fact that they have sold over 900.000 copies of DayZ, is simply mind blowing, but it does not prove anything yet. This is still NOT A GAME yet, stop acting like its anything other then a huge stress test of the architecture atm.

    DayZ is just the name Rocket choose for an experiement with a mod for Arma 2 :) And it simply stuck, dont believe it has a deeper mening really, but if it does, it doesnt really matter hehe. But yeh the "zombies" are infected humans and the reason you cant become one, is that your simply immune to the virus. :) Therefor you can kill them by damaging they're body, just like regular humans. I have to agree we should not be able to kill them by shooting legs/arms, but the current Z's in the game are only really placeholders for whats to come later. Everything is far from done, so if i were you i would lean back and take a small break from the "game", 186 hours in a game with almost no content, which is basicly broken in the current state, is ALOT lol. :) Expect this game to be in development untill 2015 pretty much, theres so much to be done. I dont believe the Z's are to slow atm, the real problem is the lack of them. Rocket mentioned in a devblog, they can easily maintain 3-4k Z's on the map without loot in the current build, so imagine what they can do once they are done "making the foundation" and can start to actually build the content and game up. But thats some time away tbh, they are still working on "under the hood" stuff, so we will most likely not see any major content updates for some time.

    Adding the ability for a character to kick

    Well for starters, a precise, hard kick to the abdomen or chest would knock people over and most likely knock the air out of them, incapasitating them for some seconds. It would also be WAY more effecient at keeping zombies at bay, because of the increased strenght you can kick with and the increased range, compared to arms. Ive trained karate for about 9 years now and i promise you, one well placed kick can easily incapacitate an adult, trained man, for up to 30 secs. I like this idea alot, perhaps its hard to implement, but thats is not the discussion we are having :) Just imagine being able to run up to a guy and kick him in the back, knocking him out for say, 5-10 secs, thats enough time to either restrain him or maybe even steal a item from him hehe. Or what about being cornered in a house by 5 Z's, and all you can do is try to kick them, to knock them over and then run for your life. OR even just kicking people over so its easier to shoot them afterwards, if you want that. It would add more complexicity to both Z and player encounters, simply because it gives yet another option of handeling things.

    What a "stupid" thing to say....... This is not the mod and for that exact reason this could be an option.... Thats the entire purpose of making a Standalone, to do something else then what Arma can do. Back on track: Yes to bears and wolves pls... Wild life in a "russian-look-a-like" country, like Chernarus, should not be boars, deers and chickens lol, it does not make sense.. But for god sake, no to infected/zombie animals. Regular ones who would run after you and attack you would be sufficient. Lets see what they have in mind for the huting side of DayZ later this year, coz im pretty sure rocket wants dangerous wildlife, seem to remember it mentioned somewhere.

    Hello community. Its been quite a while since ive been here, i stopped playing DayZ some time ago, awaiting the SA. Now its here ive bought it and jumped into testing it :) So lets start with a small story first. I am currently mortally ill (men's flu, nuff said!!!) and ive just gotten home from a walk. Let me be honest, i was out smoking a joint hehe. Now, while i was out smoking i was walking and thinking about the game, what i like about it so far, what can be improved, etc. Being that im on the virge of dying (men's flu!) i was coughing alot and i started listening to the sounds i made. When i started smoking the spliff, i didnt cough alot, it was small, subtle and not very loud, but as i progressed down the road, smoking more and more, the cough got way more intense. Some times it was 1 cough, some times it was 3-6 directly after each other. Now, this is what i actually wanted to talk about :) I realize the whole infected system and coughing and what not, havent even left the development table yet, but thats no reason to not talk about it. I would very much like to see some differences in coughing, based on the sickness level of your char, and im talking both the way it sounds but also the volume it has. If you recently got ill, it should be small subtle couch's, nothing major and barely able to hear. Once your sickness progresses it should involve more volume, maybe even some kind of cough "cramps", slowing your char for a sec or two, like real life. Would be awsome if we had 10-20 different cough "sounds" in the game. I would also like to see the volume increase alot as you progress in the sickness. Just like real life, you should be able to hear a very sick man cough from quite far away, and so should the Z's. Now im not saying it should involve agro, but what if they started walking towards the source of the sound? Just my 2 cents on coughing :) What do you guys think?

    My point exactly, i realise this could make "lone wolfing" more difficult, but it would make the game more immersive overall tbh. I like the idea of direct agro if you are say, 10m from a Z, and theres direct line of sight, perhaps you are behind it or on your belly in a bush or something. It hears the sound, turns around and agro :)

Abusive Language/Racism - This Is probably one of the worst things you could do ingame and if done bad enough can result in insta lifetime ban Ghosting/Hopping - This is simply not tolerated in any way and could very easily earn you a ban, without warnings.     Oculus Rift support for stand alone DayZ

    It doesnt matter if they do that, they will still have to sacrifice core elements to ensure it can run at a solid 60 fps on every single rig out there. Correct me if im wrong, but i dont see that happening any time soon. Still would be awsome though.

    As far as i know the Rift needs a solid locked 60 fps to work the way it should. Thats also why we see it being tested on games that require next to nothing of your computer to hit 60 fps. Doubt that will ever happen in any BI game, but we can hope and prey :)

    Less military stuffs

    According to Rocket at PAX this will not happen. He said theres gonna be next to no guns in the alpha release, mainly melee weapons and such, they are even looking into punching aswell :) So dont worry, guns and especially bullets are gonna be extremly rare and chances are you wont find it for a long time after launch.

    At PAX Rocket said he wants to add it, but its gonna be very different then now and its far out in the future. Might not happen, kinda depends on the whole hacker situation and how it develops.
