Have to admit im loving the reddit screenshot of the full statistic page. :) But having global leaderboards could, and most likely will, have a negative impact on the game. Yes there might be many different ones, but we all know where the focus will be, Player and Zombie kills basicly. This could then encourage even more KOS and take this game down a dirty arcade road, which we will never come back from :) Keep it local only, no realtime tracking (obviously) and give us the option to save our statistic upon death. Perhaps you can have a maximum of 3-5 different statistics saved. Just my 2 cents :)

Ok let me clarify what i ment. If you have multible characters, you have a higher chance of retrieving your items with an already geared character, if your previous one dies. You arent forced to start over, hence permadeath isnt as scary anymore, because you simple boot a new char, which already have gear and "keep on trucking" :) And im sorry but having different characters with different loadouts, kinda defeats the entire purpose of this game. You have to choose carefully what gear you want, coz it will have consequences later on, if you are simply able to have different loadouts on different chars, the consequences becomes significantly smaller. Not to mention this will get exploited like a mofo, look at WarZ. People tend to have several characters in one area, so if one get killed, you log onto another and go for revenge, and again permadeath is not what it should be. I honestly love this "1 life" feature of the game, i hope they never change it, it would have a negative impact on the game in my opinion :) You get one life, treasure it like hell and keep him/her safe at all costs.

Seems To Be Tons of Friendlies On Low pop Servers
byrgesen replied to King of kong's topic in General Discussion
Low pop servers are the perfect place for "fresh meat" to get to know the game :) Basicly explains the friendly people, they are just getting started or perhaps they choose a low pop server to chill abit, instead of stressing out on a high pop server. -
what are these beans we can give to others for?
byrgesen replied to DADDY_OF_5's topic in New Player Discussion
The innocence in this post is almost poetic :D Jokes aside, its a "i like your post" button basicly. Give someone beans if you agree with them :)- 25 replies

We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.
byrgesen replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
Could you at least provide a link for some of us lazy bastards? :) -
Ok lets try to write a small scenario :) Imagine you are jogging along the Chernarussian forest's, minding your own business and searching for loot. Far off in the distance you see, what appears to be camo nets, sandbags and vehicles in the forest *sneak mode activated* So you finally make your way up and you see its abandoned, not a single living souls is anywhere around, so you start looking for something usefull. But all you find are pictures of what looks like a bandit, standing over dead survivors like a hunter showcasing his trophy, after a succesful kill :) What do you do?

ANYTHING visual that will "force flag" you as a certain kind of player, will make you stand out like a flaming beacon, dont be naive lol. People catch onto it and look for it instantly. It does not matter how you make it look, people will look for it intensly. But i have to admit im having a really hard time understanding how this will "help you play the way you wanted" when we have numorous examples, in this thread, that it doesnt matter how the humanity system is made, people still shoot you. Doesnt that prove, it does not work? That we need to go in another direction, instead of visual flagging of people, based on they're actions? I believe so. And dont even get me started on the "flame wars" from our heroes in the mod, who got seriously headhunted because of the blue shirt, an unintended side effect, which then lead to more people killing on sight and even less trying to be the hero. I hold onto my oppinion here, no visual flag system, based on points are ever gonna do justice to the game, we need something different, something new and creative. See this guy could be onto something, nothing is forced, you get options. Thats what we need in the game, tons and tons of options :) No forcing mechanic of any kind (except hunger thirst etc. ofc) -

The "flaw" is the system it self. Thats what ive been trying to say all the way through this thread. No pointbased system, which changes cosmetics, will EVER fix this, developers tryed for almost 2 years in sooooo many different ways and yet, nothing is even close to perfect. Thats gotta mean something. -
Player interaction and the consequences of your choices. This is, for me, the most important thing about this game and is why i play it. You can run into players all day, every day, but it will be different encounters with different outcomes, truly amazing. You can almost count, on one hand, how many games has accomplished this like DayZ has :)

Would like to add its even worse if you are an entire clan and still dont have the upper hand. We need them to help with some kind of "solution" to KOS, yes, but not a arcadish point system, which we saw fail over and over again in the mod for almost 2 years. Get creative and come up with a better solution, this is tryed and tested and has failed multible times, in several mods, why keep using it then? -

byrgesen replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
My point exactly, he is contradicting himself lol. Its a very good example of "this game is to hard to play, because we cant see if people are good or bad".... DayZ is not easy-mode, it was never ment to be a walk in the park and it sure as hell wasnt ment as an arcadish MMORPG, with forced systems like this. I have to admit ive been KOS'd a couple of times, but it has always been because of my own stupidity, running the wrong place, not paying attention to my surroundings, etc. BUT ive never been forced to KOS somebody yet, always found another way to either loose them or make them someone elses problem. Just as OP says slightly higher on the page, he actually doesnt want to play it like this, well news flash, stop doing it lol. It would be the same as saying "i need my car to NOT go faster then 80 km/h, because i cant control my self and i will go faster if it can"..... Grow some balls and change the way you play, if you really want to :) We dont need the devs to make up some EZmode indicator system, simply because people dont know how to not kill other people. -

byrgesen replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
Well...... How about you stop killing everything you come across? Would that not be a start to "stop the KOS"? You even said it yourself... So play the game how you want to................... Listen mate, its all about the aproach. Aproach someone directly, you are sure to be killed, aproach them from a safe position and talk to them and something magical could happen :) Basicly what you want is a system, so people get forced into specific roles, based on how they play. How is that sandbox? How is that "My Story"? Its not. I understand you want to deal with KOS, but you know what? Forcing cosmetic changes onto people, based on a point system, is not the way to do it. It wont change a thing, bandits will be bandits, murderers will be murderer and heros will be heros, regardless of how they look, the only thing you will accomplish here is taking away the tension in player interactions, because you already know the outcome, based on this wierd cosmetic change. Humanity have been played with for almost 2 years in all of the DayZ mods, and nobody got it right, that must be a sign that the mechanic doesnt belong in the game. Let people play the way they want, without forcing anything on to them, we need the tension, we need to "Ohh shit who the fuck is this guy and what does he want" mindset, not "ahh ok, he has a Hero wrist band, he must be friendly" or "FUUUU a bandit, he has the famous red bandana"..... I truly hope the devs will stay away from anything like this, it does not belong in a sandbox game, where the game slogan is "your story" tbh. -
Spot on there gregor, definitely something along thoose lines :)
-
Yes both leaving them or running around with them on you hehe, thats the idea :) But this does not fit the post-soviet theme of Chernarus very well tbh :) Needs to be older hehe

byrgesen replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
My point exactly, a system like this isnt gonna chance anything, other then break immersion in a game where its suppose to be "Your story" and not "Your Story, except if you do this or this or this" :) DayZ should never have any kind of forced mechanic like this. We had a system like this in the mod and it didnt work, so why implement it again? Just dont understand. -

byrgesen replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
I just dont see the need to force a certain look onto somebody, based on they're actions :) However subtle it may be. Whats to stop the "Hero" from killing you anyway or the "Bandit" from helping you? People play how they play, but dont force them into a role because of they're actions. You are talking about removing almost all of the tension there is in player interactions, by doing this. Its the insecurity we need to make the game scary and tense, not putting people in boxes so you can "act accordingly" :) -
True, im just thinking there must be a damn good reason nothing like this has ever been in any kind of RV engine game. :) I dont think the engine can support this well.

byrgesen replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
And you are very free to do this :) But how would you feel if you basicly had a giant sign hovering over your char that said "IM BANDIT!!! I KILLZ PEPS!!"?? No thanks, people should have to figure it out on they're own, not some "flag" mechanic ingame. -
We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.
byrgesen replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
Well thats your choice, thats the beauty about this game, you can do what ever you want :) But forcing a certain look on some people based on they're actions, makes it to arcadish tbh. People should be able to look and act exactly as it pleases them. So if you choose to kill a new spawned guy, so be it, but you should not be forced to anything because of it. -

byrgesen replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
Not true, people are what they choose. So you can be the first to break this circle and stop killing everything on sight :) If you take 5 mins to observe somebody from afar, you can quickly get an idea of they're intentions. But just like real life, NOBODY should be forced to a certain look or "sign" based on they're actions, it would remove the tension in player interactions, because then you would know the intention before you even speak to someone. 90% of the fun in DayZ is running into another player and not knowing what to expect. People KOS because they are scared and its easier then trying to interact with another player, its simple as that. -
Do you have an official source for this statement? Would very much like to read more about it.
-
No thanks. Everybody should be the same and have equal skills in everything. That way "player skills" will actually determine how good you are at the game, and not class superiority. Just think about the balancing issues they could run into, if they started making something like this. This is your story, so you should be able to do what ever you want, with no restrains, like a class system.
-
Even if people started doing racist remarks, it should not take much to implement a profanity filter :) If BI took it out, i must be because something was broken or unintentionally happened to the game.

record length of time alive for hall of fame type achievements?
byrgesen replied to jellypawn's topic in Suggestions
Simply put, this will turn it into a arcade game and people will stop playing in different ways and focus in theese values, nothing else. DayZ is so much more then this, and nobody can be "#1 in the world!" at this game, hence leaderboards will not do anything good. If we start doing leaderboards, it becomes a game about killing most people, not doing what you want.
