Humble Bundle: Arma Ii With Dayz - Few Problems
byrgesen replied to RobZombie99's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Well, you need to get the Arma II Operation Arrowhead Beta on steam aswell, thats the x.62.xx version :) And DayZ Mod should update it self, if not, right click on it, go to properties, go to Betas and find the version you want on the list, it should start to update. If it doesnt update, try starting it and that should force the update to begin :) Other then that, theres the good old "verify cache integrity" :) -
For those complaining about development pace
byrgesen replied to Mdogg2005's topic in General Discussion
6 days? Is that long? If they spit out a patch, with decent content, once every other week, we cant ask for more mate. I would rather they did this, then make small crappy patches every other day, seen to many games fail this way by now. I also want to add, they seem to be doing it exactly the same way as they did Arma 3 :) Experimental gets updates almost daily, and when they have been tested abit, they get pushed to stabile, once every 1-2 weeks. Im having trouble seeing how this is a bad thing :) EDIT: Apology, its more then 6 days, last stabile branch update was 17th of January :) -
Locked Cabinets, Gun Safes, And Drawers...hidden Key To Open...lock-Picking?
byrgesen replied to TEST_SUBJECT_83's topic in Suggestions
Not bad at all :) I actually like the idea of having to look closely for keys in a house. -
Honestly, im having trouble understanding why people think its random :) Ive yet to experience something happen, i didnt want to happen, when it comes to walk-over/vaulting.
-
I want to, very clearly emphasize, im talking about changing this in the current version of the game, not down the road, as we simply dont know what features and mechanics we will get, to encourage teamwork yet. Apoligy for not mentioning this :) I will admit, if we get some other features, better features, to improve the teamwork side of the game, this is nto the worst idea :) I just cant see it happening in the next couple of months at least.
-
Correct, its two seperate databases :) So you can safely swap between them, although theres a high chance of no room in experimental, theres a very very limited amount of servers.
-
Yes, we are ready but the world isnt yet, what a shame :D
-
Are you seriously complaining about this? I can almost promise you this is far easier to write and implement then making loot spawns work properly :) So you are just gonna have to wait an extra 30 secs, when server hopping. Rocket posted this on Reddit: Source: http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/1whk6p/dayz_changelog_033114782_pending/cf20nss?context=1 I think this is an awsome move, but its mainly target against combat loggers and ghosters :) You can still server hop, it just takes some ekstra seconds. They fixed this with signature verification mate Patch 0.32.114557
-
Ahh as in "You where killed by XXXX"??
-
Im quite sure i read an official statement somewhere, claiming something like this would never get into the game, because it would make it illegal in half the world :) But it does make me think of games like Postal haha
-
No, i dont think so :) Exactly like you can see your attackers name IRL, it should simply not be visible ingame, unless the attacker wants you to know who it is.

Dont go full retard :D I believe its the little things, which in the long run, will have a giant impact on the KOS behavior we see now, simple as that. It was the exact same thing when i hosted a server back in the mod, we introduced small changes, every other week, to try and "combat" the KOS problem and it progressivly got alot better :) I could be way off here ofc, but i truly believe things like this, will help us in the end. Thats why i really dont want it removed :)
-
So basicly you are saying because its happening now, due to lack of content and people getting bored, we might aswell remove all the "teamplay" mechanics, while we are at it? Cmon mate, even you gotta admit that doesnt make much sense :)
-
As far as i know we will never get nameplates or name tags, to identify people ingame. The only way to identify someone, will be if they want you to :) Havent heard anythig else.
-
Honestly i cant see this happening, they would get in trouble for "forcing" people to use this. And it would require some kind of "voice protocol" which recognizes every single 3rd party VOIP software on the planet and channels that into the game :) I see tons of trouble coming from that lol And this is most likely the worst idea hehe. We need PTT, this is the exact reason i hate skype lol, people coughing and yelling and all kinds of crap, i dont have to listen to this :) No game developer, in they're right mind, would ever force an open mic during the entire gameplay, its just silly mate :)
-
I will try, but it seems like my effort is hitting a brick wall, as ive been trying to explain it to you for some posts now :) I dont believe it will have a positive impact on the game, if we keep making people more self effecient, and removing teamplay mechanics, it will cause nothing but more KOS and less coorperation, simply because why should you coorperate if its not needed? nobody will do it any more. We saw clear evidence of this in some of the mod variations, why should it be different in the SA? Its the same people playing it. I would like to add that at least 75% of the bandits ive knows in the mod, who are now in the SA, are lone wolves, they do not work together, heck they wont even be near other players. But im not talking about fairness here, im talking about surviving alone vs surviving in a group and how stuff like this will affect the core game. We need some team mechanics like this, to make the game function, if everybody can do anything alone, why would anyone hesitate shooting everything that moves, all the time? Is that the kind of game you want? I sure dont. Would it be fair for new players to be thrown into a frenzy FFA deathmatch, where they have no reason what so ever to interact with other players? I dont think so. Alone is suppose to be difficult, humans arent ment to survive alone, we are pack animals, we need other people around us, most of our lives. That is what this "2 to blood bag" system is trying to simulate, because we need mechanics like this in the game. I also want to add, the "vague speculations on Deans motives and your feelings about it" is based on almost 2 years of playing, hosting and reading every single thing about the game, i possibly could, thats why i "feel the way i feel" basicly. Ive studied this "experiement" from the beginning, intensly, because i love the concept. As far as authenticity goes, exactly like you said, is difficult in a game like this. Not everyone can repair a vehicle, not everyone can collect blood properly, etc. I too want this game to be as authentic as possible, but some things simply needs to be more "gamey" tbh. This is one of the things i believe cannot be authentic, heck, if everyone knew how to collect and give blood, on they're own body, it would be far from authentic tbh :) I can see to many bad things coming with suggestions like this, removing pretty much all the coop and teamwork from the game and leaving nothing but a clusterfuck DM left, exactly like we saw in some of the DayZ mods. Now i understand you really really really want this to happen mate, and you are more then entitled to your opinnion. But this is my oppinion, and im not sure i can explain it in any more detail to you really.
-
True, but that is something you can never avoid tbh, clans will always use it, most communities will always use it :) It cannot be prevented hehe
-
Because i thought, you thought a jumping animation was actually in the game mate, no need to go all defensive, but you used the word jumping.. Was merely correcting you, because i thought you thought something else hehe. Easy now tiger :)
-
Ok, let me be abit blunt here mate. This isnt about what you want tbh, its about what Dean and BI wants. Bottom line. They are making this game, based on hes vision of it, and im 100% confident this suggestions is, as far from hes vision, as it could possibly be. You need to understand, Bohemia doesnt give a crap about how much money they make or how many people wants to play they're games, its never been like this in any of the BI games. They make the games they want to make, Arma 3 is a clear example of this. Thousands and thousands of suggestions where made, but not a single one, which they didnt like, made it into the game, to please people. So you can keep telling people how you are right and they are wrong, but it doesnt really matter. What matters is what Rocket and BI wants in the game, nothing else. Dont for a second think they put stuff into the game, simply to please the general population, thats not how BI works, and if you had any knowledge of the company and what they stand for, you would agree :) This is also the reason we have a small dev team, and the reason its gonna take a long time to make the game, heck Arma 2 took almost 5 years to "perfect" :)
-
I would love to see something like this in the game :) The question is, can the engine support it? I dunno, ive never seen something like this in a RV engine game hehe
-
Wasnt laughing at him, but his argument, although it doesnt matter. And the fact that the community made it possible in the mod, kinda brings my point up again, Dean never wanted it, so he never made it happen. Also mate, DayZ is about survival, but first and foremost its about player interactions and the consequenses of it. It never started as a pure survival game, it started as a human experiment, Dean wanted to see how people reacted, in a situation like this, when given "unlimited" choices. I still feel the argument "we can do IRL!" isnt a valid argument in this matter and in several others aswell :) It is still a game and something needs to be here to make it work as a game, this being one of them. Basicly im saying i hope this never happens, because of the negative impact it will have on the game, we need more mechanics to encourage teamplay and give people reason, beyond killing, to seek other people out tbh.
-
Perform an action on them or make them write in chat is the only ones, i know of atm :)
-
Lol i just gave you a perfectly valid reason, why this should not be possible. It will change the game completely, theres a reason this wasnt part of the mod either mate. And im also quite confident this will never change anyway, based on all the stuff Rocket has said about the mod/game over the past few years.
