Well that is true, but that will be the case no matter how the loot is tbh, people will always seek the best place to find the loot they want.I do however believe people will scatter more, if they had chances of finding everything everywhere :)Ofc people will still run to the airfields and other military areas, becasue it would have the highest chance of giving them what they want, but others might try new places, simply because of the "i never know what i will find" gameplay style, it could bring to DayZ. I agree mate :) But with a % based spawn mechanic, theres still the best chance to find an M4 in military areas, because of the %. But you could also get lucky and find it elsewhere. I would like "surprises" like this, to find loot places you dodnt expect it to be. It will encourage more scavenging, all over the map, but at the same time keep the "high value loot" sites, pretty much the same as they are now :)

If you find ANY server that says "Join and be kicked" or something along thoose lines, get the IP and port and report it mate, simple as that :) Read more about reporting here: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/158966-dayz-standalone-server-hosting-rules-server-reporting/ As far as server that says "Join and your char will be deleted", stay away from thoose for now. Theres been some issues with the server connection to the HIVE on some specific servers, so theres a good chance your character will be deleted/reset, upon joining theese :) Now i also want to clarify, theres no Private Servers in the SA yet guys, we only have public, unless you find a pirated server somewhere, which i would advise not to join anyway:)

Not a bad concept, but i have to admit i hate the idea of having a "static" number of guns/food etc. This is where the % chance can make things fun tbh. So we keep the 1 hour check, you proposed, possibly based it on the lenght people have been absent from certain areas aswell, but instead of saying "We need 12 more rifles" it simply picks a loot table and starts spawning, based purely on percentage and chance. Example: Server does a check once in a while (would be best to base this on absence of player tbh), it might clean some of the loot and then jump to the loot table for civilian buildings. This loot table has a very long list, of all items with they're % chance and it simply starts "populating" the civilian buildings, in the choosen ares, based solely on % chance and total max item count. This way it will be alot more random and diverse loot you will find, and sometimes theres gonna be 50 rifles on the server, sometimes theres gonna be 3, its purely based on chance, and possibly with a "max type of item" roof, to ensure its not going crazy once in a while :) Its actually kinda what you said, but with small twists :)

I like theese small FAQ's they spit out, with the changelog :) That being said, it wont stop people anyway, what will stop them however, is a very active mod team on the forums. If this forum was like BI's own forum, we would have half the thread we have now tbh :) But thats a totally different talk hehe, hopefully we have seen the worst of the "thread tsunami", but i doubt it somehow :D -
I would like it, if you can find the source of this mate, because ive not heard it my self yet :) While i agree comlpetely with the "achievement hunting", giving us A LOT of different ones will also encourage people to try out other play styles and do things differently, instead of doing the same over and over :) I cant see it as a bad idea, especially if theres many different ones, leading the player in many different directions, gameplay wise :) I also agree, this is not what its about, but this is a "tool" to try and make people play the game in different ways. Some people might stick to killing people, because they never knew how fun other stuff could be, and vice versa :) Theres alot of games on Steam, which isnt about acheivements at all, but they still have them.

Private Servers - No Password ( /.-)

This is also a newly established rule, as it was kinda of a grey zone, two weeks ago :) But report theese servers mate, and they will get blacklisted soon enough. Remember, this is your weapon as a client, against theese pesky admin bastards, use it :) Im really happy to see the rules got updated with this guys, glad you are "putting your foot" down now. I think everything should be able to spawn everywhere basicly :) Now, give the items a % chance, say 0.5-1% chance a m4 will spawn in a civilian house and perhaps 5% it will spawn in a military barrack, or something along thoose lines. (just random numbers, calm your tits :D ) I think it will make it much more dynamic and unpredictable, becasue right now you go to specific places for specific loot. That mechanic could be changed, so you go to specific places, to get a higher chance of specific loot :) This would mean, people would spread out more, because they will still be able to find items everywhere, they can simply choose to go to specific places to have a higher chance of finding the exact item. My 2 cents :)

Yeh, like you said, it will take some time before we get this ofc. Just look at otehr Early Acces Games and the time it takes for them to get acheivements. Its not as important as the rest of the game hehe

I would love some Steam achievements :) And as many as possible, to encourage as much diverse gameplay as possible ofc. You got a good list started there mate, im sure more can be added, but its way to early for me atm, to try and help you hehe. Just wanted to give beans for the suggestion ;)

True, but i think, as with some of the items atm, we will se alot of multi use out of them :) I sure hope so, a screwdriver or knife has many many purposes IRL hehe Actually i keep to my axe ;) But i will rememebr it, just in case haha

You are right, some of the items in the game doesnt really have a funtion yet :) But i can promise you they will slowly get more and more functions, and it will all be good hehe. As mentioned, by Marc, we will be able to saw handcuffs soon :) One step in the right direction. I am not personally familiar with alot of the plans for tools, but im quite confident Rocket and the devs have a lot of ideas for them and the entire crafting system planned :)

Im quite sure the restarts will get automated :) At least untill its become obsolete (if it ever does hehe) Perhaps they will make new admin tool, working like BEC does? Perhaps they will allow us to use BEC? It doesnt make sense to not use the tools, which are already there, for our beloved admins hehe. As far as i know, theres no official statement about this anywhere, unfortunatly, but i doubt they have put much work into admin tools yet tbh. -
Thats a good idea, faces with camo is already a part of Arma 2, so it should not be difficult to make a GUI, to select between different face camos, based on some colors you might have picked up :) Love it hehe. Would like to see you being able to find colors for it, like black, green, tan, etc. around the world, should properly be most "common" in military areas. Then being able to right click one of them and go "Paint Face" and it opens a GUI, much like the character creation screen in most MMORPG's actually. When this is open, you should be able to choose between 10-20 different facepaints (for a start) based on the color you have available :) I dont think we will ever be able to "freely" paint our face the way we want it, because i think the work thats needs to be done to do this, far out weighs the result :( Thats why i suggest doing it "template" style, like we see in other games, such as GW2 and Skyrim. As long as we get alot of options and it varies, depending on the colors you have available :)

Because the devs have seen the clusterfuck, which came from the mod, because of to much freedom. Thats also one of the reason they want to keep EVERYTHING in the same DB, both public and private servers. And it will have an effect on me and on the entire community, excatly like the mods had a giant impact on the community and split it into several smaller groups. This is they're chance to make a game, which brings it all together again, instead of doing, what is already done with the mod, and divide it into 20 smaller "games" with different content.

He is right on target with the DB, as far as i know, nobody but the devs are ever gonna have acces to the DB. Thats why they are dividing it into "shards" guys :) You will be able to make a privates server, much like in the mod, but you still need to connect it to the official DayZ HIVE. Thats why we see things like "sub-hive" in the changelog and "shards" :) If they dont do it like this, theres no way of controlling the game, what so ever. Again, this is how i understand it, it might not be entirely true, it might be spot on, i cant say for sure tbh. But why would they implement "sub-hives for private servers" in the official DB, if this is not what they are going to do? Very true, it is possible, but you try and go outside, with half a milk carton, filled with water and make it work as a compas, which actually showes the currect bearing :) Its difficult mate, and most of the time it wont show the correct bearing, because of all the inteference from the wind and other factors. + in order to use a compas like this, you need to remain stationary for several minutes.

Well it is your story, but we all have to follow the same basic rules, which is the core game tbh. Removing PVP changes the entire game into something else, somehing not DayZ. It would be like removing the hunger/thirst system tbh. Its an essential core part of the game and it should be there at all times.

No no magnet, but you need some metal which is magnetic :) And the chances of you making a functional compas, is about as good as finding a functional compas tbh. Just getting the needle to point the right direction, in the half water bottle, would be a bitch, if you had nowhere to place it and there was wind around you, etc. Im just thinking about the time we did this in school, half the time it didnt work correctly, and that was inside, with proper materials and no wind :)

I have to admit i would truly hate, starting the same place over and over and over again :( Some of the fun in a fresh spawn, is not knowing exactly where you are for the first couple of mins. Also, the whole "cannot be killed for 5 mins" thing, is not a good idea tbh. People will find a way to abuse it, especially if everybody spawns the same place. I can already see trolls gathering barbed wire and fencing the place in, to wait 5 mins after spawn and simply kill people, who cant escape :)
