Stuck on "Please Wait" and how to get around it

I find it is only certain servers i get this with, no idea why. Yesterday i jumped on two servers which got me stuck at the "please wait" screen, but the third server let me right in. Needless to say, its not added to favorites hehe. Perhaps some servers are having issue with the HIVE connection again? Best advice i can give is keep trying until you find a server that works and then add it to favorite, stick to a low amount of "trusted" servers and everything will be a whole lot easier tbh.
  2. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/186148-forum-suggestion-required-posts-to-start-a-new-topic/ Theres already a capcha in place, but obviously it isnt working as intended :)
  3. Friendly reminder, that this suggestion is still around. As far as i can see the spam bots are getting worse, something has to be done soon imho.

    Map Making Tools

Im pretty sure if you find guides aimed towards Arma II and III, you will get tons of usefull tips. It might not be 100% the same way, but it cant be far off tbh. As for map size, i suggest starting with something small/medium. Dont jump to anything huge, because you you will find yourself drowning in tasks, especially when it comes to "filling" the island with stuff. A lot of people would much rather have a 5x5km map with attention to detail, then having a 15x15km barren wasteland with nothing it it imho.

The football field requires a football

Im thinking something along the lines of: "Throw, grab'n'run ball"?? Handball is already taken, for obvious reason ofc, and they arent really dribling the ball in american football, basicly just throwing, grabbing and running with it.

The football field requires a football

See, i just dont understand this.... Everywhere in the world its football, but nooooo, not in 'Murica! Same as pine apple, wtf is up with you people? I guess you just want to watch the world burn.... :P EDIT: Ohh yes the topic... Awsome idea, i cant wait to assemble the cheerleaders!!

DayZ is a paradox game - Random thoughts

Thats a nice read and you point out alot of the strange stuff, that is DayZ. I agree with you, on all your points basicly, but i do think some of them will change, during the development of the game :) Especially when we get working zombies, hunting, cooking, vehicles and barricading in the game. Could potentially be a game changer for many people, but we can only speculate on the impact it will have on the "Average JoeZ" at this point. I think people are really scared of stepping out of they're comfort zone, they are used to play games where its full on coop or clusterfuck deathmatch, which is not a bad thing, but with the amount of fredom we get in DayZ, i think the average player will rather "play it safe" then trying to do something they wont normally do, which then leads to the odities you point out in your post :) Have some beans hehe. :beans: :beans: :beans: *I dont normally give 3 cans, but your post is special!
  9. We have a timeline, its called the roadmap :) It may not be specific down to the very date, but it clearly outlines the intentions of the developers and clearly states when they believe they can deliver the features. Setting a "fixed" date for any kind of game is a bad idea, there numorous games on the market, showing exactly this, and a few games who "overshot" the delivery date, but delivered a much more polished and finished product, because of this. Rushing development to "satisfy" the masses, will backfire on the developer. IMHO giving a date for something very specific, is a very bad idea, especially when they are trying to create a game like nothing they have ever done before, on an engine which was NOT originally designed for this use. I would rather they pospone features for months, instead of giving us "half-assed" crap, like most other developers tend to do now a days. As for professionalism, im not quite sure i understand. Theres no "one way" to do things in this industry, developers are free to do what they want, and BI have been very clear about this game from the beginning. Just look at the devblog on Tumblr, theres no "cloak and dagger" applied there, they have been honest and told people why it was delayed and what they are working on now. Just because you dont get every little detail, doesnt mean they arent professional. And just because a feature is delayed, for what ever reason, doesnt mean they are lying to you, as some imply. As long as they keep adding features and the game isnt "feature complete" we can call it an alpha, according to most gaming industry standards. As soon as its feature complete, we go into beta, where the bug fixing comes into place, unless its a perpetual beta development ofc, and we dont know that yet.

    Map Making Tools

Hopefully we will be able to use the Arma II tools, like people did for Arma III during development. Later on, we can cross our fingers, that we get DayZ specific tools released, but perhaps its not needed, it kinda depends on how much have changed, on a core level, regarding terrainsmodels and configs. Honestly i have no idea, but i would imagine Arma II tools will works just fine, for a starter, like most other people suggest in this thread.

This patch is littertly game breaking.

Theres no need to be a sarcastic asshole like that tbh. They are working on it and have been working on it from the beginning, what more can you demand? Its not like we are being lied to, they are honest about it and admit it needs work, but in order to remove the timer they need to upgrade other parts of the engine first. Again, early acces, dont buy it to play it yet, its an alpha.... Rome wasnt build in a day, have some patience or find something else to do, if this game isnt for you, but theres no reason to act like you are doing there.
  12. Cant stress enough, they are NOT trying to implement anything thats already in the mod, thats why its taking so long. The mechanics, such as hunting, cooking, vehicles and animal AI, is being written from scratch, theres no copy paste and its far more complex then anything in the mod, so you cant really compare it like this. It sounds like you need to read some of the devblogs and stop assuming its just a copy of the mod. Who said this? Dean sure as hell didnt, and since we all know its still the RV engine, and they started with the mod, its quite illogical to state something like that. The "problem" here is the same problem we where facing in the Arma III development phase. Mod content being broken several times a week, because of changes to the game and core elements the mods are using.Thats the primary reason you dont have mod support in the SA yet, things will change so much and the mods will break so much, before the game is done, that its simply not worth it yet, neither for the developers (listening to crying babies) or modders (wasting time, over and over trying to fix the mod after each update) That is very true, but the entire purpose if tha standalone is to bring the community back together, and create a game with the "best of both worlds" so to speak. If they didnt want this, they could just have "polished up the mod and released it" like you said earlier. Tha hacking/cheating in the standalone is already down to a minimum, if you read the forums theres not a whole lot of posts about this, compared to the mod in Arma II, so that kinda makes your argument invalid there mate. They need to establish "ground rules" for private hive admins and they need to create a system to punish the bad admins, like removing acces to the private DB, which will be handled by BI, exactly like the public server's DB is now. They cant just release it "as is", because it will create the clusterfuck they ran from in the mod, and nobody wants that. You obviously have no idea what the RV engine is capable of, theres no other engine like it in the world, and its BI's own engine, thats why it was choosen, they could have gone with far worse engines for this genre og game. BI have always had small development teams, are you implying small team = disaster game? So that would also mean everything Ubisoft and EA spits out is pure gold in the gaming world? It doesnt make sense mate. They didnt adopt anything, they saw how the alpha halped them develop Arma III, which was theyre first early acces game, they then used it for Take On Mars and now DayZ. If its a scam stop paying money for it and wait to see the result, but ive played BI games long enough to understand that quality takes a long time.
  13. It would not hurt the average forum user at all, in fact it would encourage using the search function for new members and post in already excisting topics :) Like you, i do far more reading then posting on these forums, but i still feel like this is the best way to counter the increasing amount of spambots and "oneline cry babies" + it will actually give the moderators and admin more time to moderate the forums, because they dont have to shut down as much spam all the time. Shamelss bump, as today was a really "bad" day when it comes to spambots tbh, and its not gonna go away by it self.
  14. I have no issues on Hardcore, could be a server related problem? Bad connection, lag and desync perhaps? This sounds like the "empty can bug", have you reported this to the bug tracker? If you had payed attention during the last 6-12 months, both on these forums, on reddit and on tumblr, you would know this is simply not true. A lot of work has gone into the core engine and the network code of this game, but its not like a magic switch they just turn on tbh. Thank god theres other things to test, while they fix the weapons in the game, then... Again, have you tried to figure out why its doing this and reported it to the bug tracker? This is not a finished product, nor should it be treated as one, you where warned of gamebreaking bugs upon purchase :) So report those bugs and try to find reproduction procedures, to help the development. Threads like this doesnt help anyone.

Tricks & Tips - Move without making sound

Have you reported this "bug" mate? I dont think its intentional.
  16. Did you do anything since yesterday? Anything at all to your computer? What beta of Arma II OA are you running? A re-install could be a solution, but i would at least try to verify the cache of both Arma and DayZ, and re-install the beta, perhaps even update it. But note your Arma version, its either 1.62.xxxx or 1.63.xxxx and you need to keep it that way, so make sure you either get the latest 1.62 or 1.63 beta, because they arent compatible with each other.
  17. I understand what you are saying, but it is still better then having spam bots on the forums several times a week tbh :) I find it wierd it isnt standard on a forum software like IP.Board tbh, its quite large. I also want to add, it takes no time away from development of the game, as it isnt the devs who are gonna implement anything here, the forum moderators could implement it quite easily. Ive worked with SimpelPortal and vBulletin forums, it was a simple plugin you needed to install and it was done, i would assume IP.Board has something similar. I guess i will just have to wait and see, but i doubt it will get implemented though. Still crossing my fingers hehe.

    "Clear screen" Bug abuse?

I doubt anything can be done about it, because it would involve forcing PP onto people and that would create a giant shitstorm :) Perhaps they can fix the menu bug, but you can still simply change PP and its gone, so im not sure they even want to bother with it tbh.
  19. I see your point, but it would not have hurt you to create 5 posts in other topics, before you where able to create your own topic tbh. My point with this suggestion is, this forum is making it to easy for spammers and theres a quick fix for it, used on countless other forums.

Would You Support A Gun Shop Loot Location?

True thats very possible :) We are gonna have to disagree here though, hopefully we will get some "lore" once the game is near completion, to wipe out all the doubts people have, regarding the infection. But i still stand by my statement. Anything that centralizes loot is wrong and a bad idea, but thats just my opinion hehe.

Would You Support A Gun Shop Loot Location?

Ok i will try. From Wikipedia: DayZ is a multiplayer open world survival horror video game in development by Bohemia Interactive and the stand-alone version of the award-winning mod of the same name Random website: Our collection of games like DayZ offers other zombie survival games that will leave you scared and struggling to survive. DayZ Reddit F.A.Q: DayZ is a zombie survival MMO currently being developed by Bohemia Interactive (BI). From Steam: Welcome to the world of DayZ, hit by a new and presently unknown infection which has wiped out most of the world's population. You are one of the few that have survived and now you must search this new wasteland in order to fight for your life against what is left of the indigenous population now infected with the disease. Go solo, team up with friends or take on the world, as you choose your path in this brutal and chilling landscape using whatever means you stumble upon to survive. Not to mention dean has said numorous times, that he wants this game to focus on survival. Believe ive made my point now.

    DayZ intro/Advertisement

If you made this, did you do so a long long time ago? Several people on youtube has this, or at least something very similar :) None the less, its awsome, but far from new.

Would You Support A Gun Shop Loot Location?

As far as im concerned, anything that centralized loot spawns is a bad idea and gives nothing but less reasons to search more for yout loot. This is a survival game, so the search for your food, weapons and utilities is one of the most important aspects. Imho places like supermarkets, gunshops, hospitals, police stations and others alike, where we tend to centralize our goods in our modern world, would have been wiped clean by now, unless the apocalypse happened yesterday. We dont know how long Chernarus has been infected, but if its more then a week or two, theres nothing to find in these former "goods paradices", it will be wiped clean and the goods will be distributed across the entire country, by other survivors who had the same idea as you mention. I completely understand what your point is, but unless the virus outbreak happened days and not weeks ago, i would not bet my money on finding anything usefull in these places, as hundreds otehrs have already been there and stripped the resources clean. My best bet for finding food and weapons, would be barricaded homes, makeshift shelters and otehr places where people fled to survive. And i honestly get the feeling ingame that the apocolypse didnt happen yersterday, it seems like it was at least some weeks ago, based on the scenery and the food we can find.
  25. What happens if you verify the game on steam?
