Im pretty sure it will come with mods and private servers tbh. Theres alot of scripts that does exactly what you want, for Arma, so chances are they will be converted to work with DayZ, after release. I doubt BI wants to create a "Cinematics Toolkit", they havent done it for any other game, so they will most likely leave it to the community, which is more then capable of pulling something like that off :)

Forum Suggestion: Required posts to start a new topic
byrgesen replied to byrgesen's topic in Suggestions
Agreed, it will take up to much time. How many "#1 posts" do you get a day, from brand new users, roughly? Perhaps have the very first post/topic moderated, and then allow free posting after this. Unless we are talking hundreds of new users, signing up every day and making they're first post, it might work, but it would still require more work from the moderators. You cant compare forum security, in the sense im suggesting, to forcing people to not use a software, which is perfectly acceptable in the rest of the world of gaming tbh. It basicly boils down to, something has to be done soon, because it wont go away by it self and the increasing activity is definitely showing us, they know its easy to spam here. Other forums i frequent are using this "x amount of posts allows you to make a thread" concept, and it is far less spammed then these forums are. I understand you moderators and administrators dont wanna take on more work, managing a forum as large as this, is not an easy task tbh. Im gonne take a guess and say that nothing like this will be implemented, until the workload generated by the spambots, can outweigh the workload it would require to initiate something like im suggesting :) -
i m not concerned bout dayz's developement anymore!

When i walk around in the forest with my headtorch, i can see at least 12 meters in front of me, and i never have it point in the ground directly in front of me, i wanna see whats 5-10m in front of me :) But i get what you are saying, i just hope we will get a chance to adjust the headtorch, tilting it up and down, so you can look directly in front of you, but also have it shine like a flashlight.

What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?
byrgesen replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
its hard to prevent something that hasnt been written yet. Thats how hacks works, they write a code, get caught and then improve or re-write the code. As far as steam account goes, its not that easy to steal and its not BE or BI's issue tbh, its Valve's issue and you would be naive, if you think they arent working on improvement, in all areas of steam, all the time. You dont understand that deleting your own BE.dll does not affect the servers BE software, or the logging of events. The only thing you will accomplish with this removal is getting brief acces to BE protected servers, if you are banned, or the ability to run a hack, which will be detected and logged by the servers BE filters. I doubt the filters have changed much from Arma II and Arma III, its still the same general concept, which means the filters are being tailored for DayZ, so in the end you will only be allowed to do exactly what the server tells you, or you will get automaticly kicked and logged by BE. I worked alot with BE in both of the Arma games i mention, and its really effective, once you get the filters setup for a very specific purpose. So basicly you start with loggin all events, then you start to "ban" the use of certain items, functions and what ever you like, and in the end you have a perfectly tailored filter, which wont allow the client's to do anything you dont want. That was the problem in the mod, "stupid" admins who didnt update the filters and didnt understand the log outputs, so it was impossible to ensure complete safety of all servers. We dont have that problem in the SA, as the server files are under complete control, so both BI and BE will have a lot better chance of making it near perfect, in the end. Battleye is not garbage, its proved its worth many many times. Have some patience, it will take time to identify all the hacks and ban the suckers, but you have to admit the amount of hacking in DayZ standalone, is quite low.I have yet to meet a hacker ingame, and based on the amount of hacker posts, on the forums, they are quite rare. -
I really liked it, until you said: "we know of only one method to killing the creatures, detroying the brain". Unfortunatly thats not the kind of "zombie" we have in DayZ, so it kinda ruined the credibility. Good job none the less :)

Which can be more harmful than unlimited ammo?
byrgesen replied to msy's topic in General Discussion
The problem with it is that you can fire off 50.000 rounds without ever reloading, so you have a giant advantage over any player, who doesnt "exploit this bug". Basicly you can lay down supressive fire for 10 mins straight, and the opponent has no change of surviving such an encounter tbh. So imagine if theres 2 or perhaps even 3 people, running around together, with this "setup". It would be impossible to kill all of them unless you are in a much larger group. Now if only it worked exactly like the regular ammunition, but it doesnt. I will agree, we saw much worse hacks/exploits in the mod, but running into a guy who can spray at you for several minutes, without ever reloading, is game breaking, in some way. Hopefully they will find a fix for it soon, but i have no idea how difficult that might be :) -
The headtorch works with free-look, but the distance it shines is awfull. It aims almost directly at the ground in front of you and ive yet to find a way to adjust it, so basicly its still impossible to see anything beyond 5 meters, unless you lean back so much you can only use the bottom of the screen to see in front of you. Hopefully it will get fixed and we will have the option to adjust it, like a real headtorch. Perhaps PageUP and PageDOWN will be used to adjust it it the future, i sure hope so, because atm its almost useless.

What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?
byrgesen replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
Ohh so thats why they banned more then 150.000 cheaters? Because thats what crappy AC do, ban thousands of people for cheating.... Get your facts straight before posting such nonsense, BE is a good tool for the RV engine and its very effective. The reason it felt "crappy" in Arma II, is because of the "sloppy" job BI made on the cd-keys, which made them incredible easy to steal. That is not the case in either Arma III and DayZ, because there are no CD-keys, its all tyed to your steam information, and they share BE bans aswell. If you use BE the right way (set up the correct filters) it will log 100% of whats happening and catch almost all of the cheaters. -
In fact you can run 4k 3d resolution in Arma II and III aswell, its been a part of the engine for quite some time and its absolutely gorgeous. Its not a proper 4k resolution, the window resolution is still 1080p max, but you can render the 3d in 200%, which is equivalent to 4k, without having a 4k screen :) But to answer your question, nothing in this game is uptimized yet, especially when it comes to clients, they started work on the server now, but client optimization is way out in the future. Have a look below, its a thread with 4k 3d resolution pictures, the game is truly beautiful, if you can run it at those specs. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/186729-maxed-graphics-4k-resolution-screenshots/

Truly beautiful, can we get more screens? Perhaps some of some of the cities and some zombies? So damn pretty hehe.

Always have at least 3 snap loaders, when You Are using the Izh og Blaze, Or it Will be worthless in combat :-) If You don't have Any, You need to drag ammo into the gun, in the inventory. And if You cant hit your taget in 6 shots, You Are better off running hehe

Building art in DayZ Standalone not apocalyptic enough IMO
byrgesen replied to GriefSlicer (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I see, i guess thats why ive missed it, i havent watched ALL the interviews with Rocket, because its almost the same stuff mentioned everytime hehe. I was just curious, as i havent heard of it myself and this question has been an ongoing debate on these forums, for quite some time now :) Hopefully we will get a definite answer at some point, when they start to "flesh out" the lore of the game more. -
We do that everyday now. Its quite sad spambots have so free reigns here tbh, nothing is being done to combat it. I made a suggestion here, if you want to have a look mate.

Forum Suggestion: Required posts to start a new topic
byrgesen replied to byrgesen's topic in Suggestions
I dont want to sound like a nagging bitch, but this problem isnt gonna go away by it self. Today was a glorious day for the spammers, and eventually it will only get worse, something has to be done about it. I realize you mods have a life, outside of the forums, and thats exactly why something must be done, as you arent here 24/7 to get rid of the spambots, but thats is what we will need in a couple of weeks. They already know how easy it to get on these forums, so why should they stop or even do it less? Please mods and administrators, find a solution to this spam mess, it will get out of hand very soon. -

The "plan" was to minimize the default blood decals all over the place, and create then when ever players are hurt or killed, so the world would change visually. Imagine going into a house and finding a shit ton of blood on the stairs leading up to the second floor. You know something bad has happened, but you dont know what. Let me see if i can find the segment from the dev blog, mentioning this. It was in one of the early ones hehe. EDIT: Got it :D http://dayzdev.tumblr.com/post/33906503689/work-in-progress-interiors-continued-i-was-a -

Building art in DayZ Standalone not apocalyptic enough IMO
byrgesen replied to GriefSlicer (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
The reason the buildings arent plastered with blood, is because the original idea was for player events to leave behind traces of it. Rocket wanted the buildings to look kinda plain, unless someone was killed in it. Now it doesnt work like that in the SA atm, but it was a great idea "back in the day", which is why the interior isnt full of blood. Hopefully it will work like that, in the end, but only time will tell. You can read more about this in the early dev blogs on tumblr. Source for this? If its years later, why are fresh fruit lying all over the place? Anything but canned food would not survive, even one year like this. Never heard it was suppose to take place years after the apocalypse, so im very curious as to where you obtained this information :) -
Ive thought alot about giving rewards for doing something ingame. But surviving is not enough tbh. If we are to get "rewards" (using this words loosely) we should do more then just survive to earn it. For example, having the healthy status for a long period of time (24 ingame hours perhaps?) would grant you a higher chance of not getting infected with disease or bleeding as easily. Having the energized status for a long time, would increase your need for food, same goes for hydrated. If you are hungry or thirsty alot, you will eventually last longer without food and water. This is simple adaptation, our bodies are doing it on a daily basis IRL, so why not ingame aswell :) There was a post somewhere about this, just cant find i now :( EDIT: I want to add, it can be done easily by adding more status effects, like "Fit", "Tired", "Strong", "weak" and so on... At least i would like to see our actions have an impact on the type of survivor we evolve into. Overeat/drink = become slower, maybe run a smaller distance before a break is needed. Undereat/drink = become slower, and can run a smaller distance, before a break is needed. Balancing the diet just right, should give you the best possible chance to survive. Atm, the best thing you can do is to eat EVERYTHING you can find, even if your not hungry, because your body can store so much energy, which is the equivelant og overeating tbh. This should change omhi, what you put in your mouth should have a more direct impact on your character.
