game doesn't feel like anything bad happened in chenarus
byrgesen replied to gannon46's topic in General Discussion
One of the reasons theres not a whole lot of blood and gore around, is because they want the blood and gore on the map to be player created. Basicly they want you to walk into a house, see tons and tons of blood and go "ohh someone died here recently", so the blood and gore actually have an impact on gameplay. I realize you are talking about much more then blood and gore, but i feel like it needed to be said :) Heres a quote from one of the early devblogs from last year: http://dayzdev.tumblr.com/post/33906503689/work-in-progress-interiors-continued-i-was-a -
I cant wait for tents :D And i think its a good idea to both give us regular tents and craftable tents, much like we see with the backpacks. We should also be able to move it around, with a small chance og damaging the tent, when we pack and unpack it.

I was all excited about the patch going stable, then...
byrgesen replied to jubeidok's topic in General Discussion
Soooo..... How about joining a server which apeals to you, and forget about the rest? Is it that hard to simply not give a fuck? no its not. Right now you are acting like the old lady living next door, complaining because the tree in your garden is dropping leaves on her garden furniture.... Grow up mate, its a serverlist, jeeez... -
Ahh i see :) Ive never actually clicked that button yet lol, so had no idea. I always just assumed it threw you into a random server, so ive never used it hehe.

Theres no time to sleep, when you are a mod of such an important forum :D Yeh i remember him saying that, still got my fingers crossed hehe. And even if they "only" manage to keep it running for x hours or days, a auto-reconnect feature would be awsome.
-
He is like an all-knowing, never-sleeping german "wünderwaffe"..... Like a shadow, he is not always visible, but he is always around somewhere. :D On Topic: I would be a damn nice to get an auto-reconnect feature going, at some point.
-
The answer is pretty obvious, isnt it? Virtual fire is so much more important then any "real life" stuff.... Whats next, your gonna tell us to go outside and get sun!!! *hisses from the corner of the room*

Rofl yeh, it would be a bitch to attach helis to everything ;)

Why we should embrace "R" to chamber. [Take your time to read please.]
byrgesen replied to Pliskinki's topic in Suggestions
Because a weapon is almost worthless without a magazine or clip, unless it already is a single shot weapon, which had manual round loading in mind when it was designed tbh. Sure you can chamber one round manually, but the system we have now simulates this very well, its time consuming and a giant hassle. I find it satisfying, the way it is and it find it awsome that a magazine brings such an advantage to the player. If all you had to do was spam R to reload, magazines/clips would drasticly decrease in value, especially in weapons such as the mosin. Theres absolutely no reason to make it "easier" to reload weapons. EDIT: Thought abit more. The only acceptable change, using the R key to reload single rounds, is to do it this way: It takes 7-10 seconds, you cant move at all and it plays an animation, which "locks" your free-look, simulating your full concentration to chamber the bullet. -
Per Hicks: BattleEye now issuing bans for those who delete/alter PBO files
byrgesen replied to haknslash's topic in General Discussion
Wall glitching and PBO modification isnt the same thing mate. You can wall glitch with a perfectly legal copy of the game. -
Why we should embrace "R" to chamber. [Take your time to read please.]
byrgesen replied to Pliskinki's topic in Suggestions
Naah, there should be a very significant benefit to finding magazines and clips, and the way it works now, is a perfect solution IMHO :) As long as you dont have a magazine or clip, you are severely "handicapped" and gets punished for it, i find this very fitting. -
Well the entire reason to create a standalone game, was to overcome the limitations of the RV engine in Arma, thus creating a new engine specificly for this purpose :) That was always the plan, but i think with the giant sale they had in early acces, they realise now that they can create much more then they ever thought possible. Thats basicly why they called it the "Arma 2.5 engine" in the beginning. But let get back on topic, so Kic doesnt lock up this thread :) Hopefully we will get a major stabile update tomorrow, if all goes as planned. It should include almost all the stuff we see on experimental right now, so that is very exciting hehe. But you havent really missed much, as far as stabile updates goes, its been a loooooong time since the last update hehe. No, he uses the word Enfusion ;)
-
And the whole "new engine" isnt actually news. We have known they wanted to create a custom engine for this game ever since it was announced last year. Thats why they have been using bits a pieces from Arma II and III, to create what they wanted, along with new code. Not news at all, but they are simply putting a name on it now, Enfusion. So we wont see an "engine switch", we wont see a complete export and import of assests to a completely different engine. What we get is what we have now, plus 1-2 years of further development. Rocket should really have thought this through before he used the hype words "new engine", or perhaps he wanted this commotion all along? who knows...

"Files are not signed by a key accepted by this server"-Issue
byrgesen replied to woof's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
This could be your problem, as theres no file called that in Arma II :) Extended Eventhandlers is part of the CBA addons, for Arma. BI never added that functionality to the game. You might have accidently added it on your own. If you delete the folders called "Arma 2/Addons" and "Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead/Common", and then verify the cache of both Arma II and Arma II OA, it should fix this issue. Basicly it loads every single addons, which is placed in these folders, so if you have anything thats not retail Arma in there, it wont let you join servers which doesnt have a key for it :) So a good rule is to NEVER ever place any addons in these folders, its much better to create addon folder like "@mod" in the Arma root directory and then load them through the command lines. -
DayZ SA still much more laggy than anything else I play
byrgesen replied to SomeCallMeNomad (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/27umee/before_everyone_loses_their_collective_shit_omg/ci4mpsj?context=1 Quote from Hicks, one of the developers: People need to realize theres no move, they always had a "new engine" in the scope, its been the plan ever since DayZ SA was announced.... Rocket just use the term "new engine" very loosely, because it is still the same engine, they are just making so many changes (and planing many many more) it cant be called RV anymore, so they found a new name for it. Stop expecting an "engine switch", its not gonna happen, they will work and improve on, what they spend the last 6-12 months working on. Ditching that work and starting from scratch, is insane and would do nothing but create a giant shit storm, because both players and developers would feel they have wasted almost a year, doing what they did. If you want to know more, read this entire thread, it explains alot more in detail and gives a ton of links to official statements. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/199306-dayz-moving-to-new-engine-enfusion/ Think of it like this: You buy a stock car, and then you modify the crap out of it, so its no longer like the stock car, but its not a "new car" either, its just hand tailored to what you want it to be. -
It seems they have grown fond of patching during maintenance, which also sound like the easiest way to do it. All servers are down anyway, and the DB isnt being used, so its the ideal time to patch. If we are lucky, we will have a stable patch next wednesday :) Im betting on maintenance day for patches aswell.

Possible 3rd person exploit "fix" suggestion
byrgesen replied to TEST_SUBJECT_83's topic in Suggestions
When i made missions for Arma III, i always put in a little script. It forced 1st person view as soon as you raised your gun. So basicly you could walk/run around with a lowered weapon, and use 3rd person view, but when ever it was time to engage, every single player in the mission got forced into 1st person view, by raising the gun. Dunno if such a thing could work here tbh, but it worked great in my old Arma III community :) -
Did i ever say that? Im saying what benefits can come from this. Look ar Arma III, you can render people and object at ridiculous distances, because you can change the settings your self. The only reason you can do that in DayZ, is because its "locked" to the same distance for everyone, which is around 1600m. EDIT: gibonez beat me to it heh
-
What Gibonez said and being able to see people at very long distances, opens up for higher value of high grounds, like green mountain for example. If you could see players 5-10km away, it would be an great spot for a clan to hold up, or even use as a base. If you can only see 500-1000m the importance of such a place drops rapidly, as well as the tactical advantage.
-
Im with you on this. + it would be banned in half the world, because it encourages to kill children.
-
*sigh* Im not talking about the start of the standalone development, im talking about the start of the giant dev team we have now, which means they have gottan several 100% more resources. They recently took in a huge chunk of people and bought another studio, so they need to learn to work together, before any kind content gets send our way, thats why the updates have been slow for the past 1-2 months. If you spend time on the forums and read the devblogs, you would know this mate. So yes, they just started working together, they need to figure out the best way to do this, and i bet alot of the new people need to learn exactly how to work with this engine, since its an engine only used by BI, which has "always" been a small development studio, if we arent talking about BI Simulations ofc.
-
Kinda like the pyramids right?!? I bet Rocket can use slave labour aswell.
-
http://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/27uf74/rgames_rdayz_ama_with_rocket_dayz_is_moving_to_a/ That is more the enough, to create a good game. Give them a chance to work together, they just started this giant project.

Alright, so basicly when hell freezes over :D Glad we got that sorted haha
