Devs Have Been Spoiling Us Lately

Agreed :) Its easy to see the team they have thrown together, by getting more programmers, designers and buying the other studio, is paying off now. I never doubted it would happen, but the general player seemed to have a hard time understanding the workload it takes to get 100+ people to work together, on one project, when most of them have no idea how the engine works. That "slow progression" is paying off now, as we can clearly see content being thrown left and right :) I think the next 6-12 months are gonna be really exciting, cant wait to see what BI have up theyre sleave. Hopefully the people who doomed DayZ a few months back, are willing to admit they might have been wrong now. Its hard to have anything but full confidence in Bohemia, when you look at theyre track record and have been playing theyre games for so many years, best developer EVER :D

    Brains the New Meta food

That has always been the "lore" in DayZ, the few survivors left (us players) are the only ones immune to the infection, and thats why we are still humans and not infected raging monsters. In reality theres always a small percentage of the population, which is immune to a certain bacteria/virus, and that was the original explanation from Dean when he created the mod. Thats also why you can kill the "zombies" in DayZ, by shooting at theyre body, destroying vital organs. The only ones who knows if this will ever chance is Dean and BI tbh. I hope it wont change, theres plenty of games out there with undead zombies in it.

    No fog?

Im hoping for fog, and if you look at Arma III, you will see the fog is perfectly within the engine capabilities. If they can make the rain look and feel better then the one in Arma III (people on BI forums are truly jealous) then why shouldnt they be able to make an awsome fog. I think the problem is making dynamic fog, they just have to figure out how to do it the best way possible :) I have my hopes hehe.
  4. Ok, so make it an option, simple :) It doesnt give any kind of advantage and people prefer to play with or without. Its kinda like deadzone tbh. I have to admit ive used it for Arma III for a long time and been quite happy with it, it very rarely lowered the weapon when i didnt want to.

Cinematic Trailer- The Northwest: 4k Quality

Im sorry to bring this to your attention, but..... alpha! :D Theres been no kind of real loot balance done yet, because theres no actual respawn mechanic, so what we have right now is ONLY the way it is because its missing key components and we are in early development mate. Right now, the #1 priority is obviously to add as much to the game as possible, fine tuning it comes afterwards, and its usually called beta ;) So yes, RIGHT NOW its way to easy to find food, water and general supplies, but i seriously doubt the end product is anywhere near that, and isnt that what would be best to reflect? The vision of the finished game? Even the official trailers show more then just gunfights between clans, so i am gonna assume so. @OP This is in no way ment as a attack on your video, its great and well made, but i would really like to see a cinematic with a survivor fighting off zombies, finding food, hunting animals and being attaked by bandits. Basicly ALL of the aspects of the game. Thats what DayZ is for me at least hehe.
  6. Thats true, but hopefully its things like that they will want to fix in DayZ. It makes sense to walk sideways through a door with either no weapon or a lowered one imho. I have my hopes hehe. ;)
  7. Im not sure i want it either, im just pointing out its possible within the engine :)

sawn off .22 sporter poll ...should we be able to

Im not gonna complain if they create it after the more important stuff ofc :)
  9. Yes, it allows exactly the same as lowering the riffle manually :) But like i said, it still has bugs and glithces, because its a mod. If this was added on an engine basis, it would be a whole different story, since they could tailor it to what they want.

Cinematic Trailer- The Northwest: 4k Quality

I think what he wants, is a video showing MORE then just shooting people, because this game is about so much more then killing everything that moves. Show the survival aspects, show the "struggle" to find food and water, show the zombies, show people killing each other over resources. Basicly that video shows nothing but "clan" pvp, and thats just one small aspect of this game.
  11. Far from the truth, there a mod that does exactly that for Arma III :) Automaticly lower and raise your weapon, based on the distance from a wall and the direction you are looking in. So it is very possible within the RV engine. BUT like many other features, it comes with downsides and bugs, which makes it difficult to ensure it works 100% of the time, no matter what, at least when we are talking about modding. I wonder how that would look if the devs implemented it on an engine basis.

Cinematic Trailer- The Northwest: 4k Quality

I agree, but perhaps this is what the game is to the OP? Some people play it as nothing but a shooter, others play it for RP reasons, to each theyre own :)
  13. It was never unpredictable, but some of the mods did have custom buildings, which wasnt made properly, so some of the doorways wasnt wide enough and you would get stuck :) Like Alsmir says, a simple double-tap of Ctrl, would either lower or raise your weapon instantly. I agree, some of the buildings was abit to small and narrow, but it looks like they are adressing that problem in DayZ now, so theres a chance we will get it again, especially with the improved handling of your char, compared to Arma II. It would be lovely to get the feature back.
  14. I have to disagree, ive played many many MANY hours of Arma II and III, and it has become second nature for me to lower my weapon when i need to. Just because its difficult in the beginning, does not mean its terrible, it is a great feature and its very immersive. But you kinda proved my point here ;) so thanks for that hehe.

sawn off .22 sporter poll ...should we be able to

Sure thats one thing, but basicly every single piece of new item, object, building or whatever, that they want in the game, is more important then creating models and configs to saw off the weapons we have now :) IMHO its nothing but a waste of valuable resources, especially when we consider the amount of work thats "behind schedule" already (looking at the roadmap).
  16. byrgesen

sawn off .22 sporter poll ...should we be able to

Agreed, if one gets the option, they should all have it. But this is something they can spend time and resources on developing, after release tbh... Theres much more important things to develop right now, then the ability to saw off each and every weapon ingame.
  17. I agree, but at least 90% of the player base doesnt, and from the looks of it, the devs might not agree with us either. Thats clear from seeing how people have modded it out of the mod's mod, and its now no longer a part of the SA (cant remember if it was there in the beginning) :) Damn what a sentence lol....
  18. I guess its a design choice, as this was part of both Arma II and III. Im hoping we will get it back, but i think theres to many people complaining about it in the mod.

    Did FPS increase at all?

No big improvement yet, but they are working on 64-bit server (almost done) and disconnecting the renderer from the simulation. Once that is done, and either a update or complete replacement of the renderer has taken place, we should see some big improvements. But that is most likely to happen in Beta, where most of the game optimization usually takes place :) One of the big issues atm, is that the game is rendering EVERYTHING within view distance. This means your computer is using resources on rendering every single piece of loot, all objects, and all terrain, in, behind and outside all buildings in almost 2km radius, which is very ineffecient and demanding. Once they find a way to only render what they need to render, we will see a big CPU "loadoff" so to speak, and the game should run a whole lot better.

sawn off .22 sporter poll ...should we be able to

Unless its shooting buck shots, theres absolutely no reason to cut down any weapon tbh. I vote no, its really not needed, the manpower and time could be spend on other things, which is far more important, such as the tents, vehicles and new weapons :) I feel that if we where to start cutting down the .22, we need to be able to cut down EVERY single weapon, for no other reason, then just to cut it down.... Im sorry, but its a complete waste of resources imho.

    Now I am getting angry...

*sigh* The current engine isnt going anywhere, its being upgraded and will be known as Enfusion in the future, do your research. @OP It can be tough to alpha test a game, especially a game such as DayZ. The amount of freedom in this game, means theres a ton of bugs that needs to be fixed. Now im hoping you at least upvoted all the bugs/glithces you have encountered, on the bug tracker? Perhaps reported the issues you could not find on the tracker? Because if you arent doing anything other then writting this essay on the forums, you are wasting your own time mate. Reporting these errors, with clear steps on how to reproduce them, is essential for this game to evolve. Yes it can be a true pain in the a**, yes you feel like throwing your PC out the window, almost daily and yes it seems like somethings gets worse before they get better. But this is all part of early development, when you bought the game you agreed to help them find the bugs, you agreed to "not play the game yet". Its all there on steam, and by buying the game, you basicly said, i dont mind the bugs and glithces because i want to be part of this early development and help shape the game. So either "man up" and report the issues you encounter, or leave the game alone for a year or two, and come back when its been released, its your choice :)

The sun... so OTT, needs toning down.

This one is perfectly natural and acceptable tbh. Thats how i see the sun most of the time, but i will agree the rays are abit crazy at times, especially if you cant see the sun directly. Agreed, it need some fine tuning, but as far as a sunny fall day, its spot on atm.Just need to tweak it for the rain, overcast and thunderstorms (hopefully lol) All i ever see you post is these one liner "i was right all along" bullshit posts dude. So what if you posted it on day one? Its not like you will get an award or a medal or anything. Grow a pair, write something contructive and usefull and join the discussion, because this is just sad to look at.

    Gender Discrimination and Prejudice

Compared to alot of other contries around the world, theres a very small percentage of people with guns here, and you wont ever find any assault rifles in a danish home, unless he is in the military and has a special permit. Shoguns and hunting rifles is pretty much what we got :) Ohh and when i say against weapons, i mean owning weapons for other things then hunting and owning very large caliber weapons, assault rifles or other weapons along those lines, but you couldnt have known that hehe. Theres a huge difference between owning weapons for hunting, which you can only own after extensive training, and giving people acces to weapons of all types, at least in my opinion and most other danes. But we are socialists, and parties like Venstre and DFP are socialists aswell. Especially DFP. All our parties wants healthcare, take care of the sick and injured, the old and the young. It doesnt matter what you vote, nobody here wants to leave people on theyre own. Venstre is more about capitalism then the other parties though. Socialism is just a democratic version of communism tbh, so you arent completely off anyway hehe :) But yeh, that could not be more off topic :) Lets just leave it at that hehe.

The sun... so OTT, needs toning down.

I dont find it to bright. I live in Denmark (which is further north then Chernarus's fictional position) and during the summer/late summer time the sun here is sooo bright, its impossible to look at it, even with sunglasses on, so for me it seems alot more realistic then the mod ever was. I find it very satisfying that i can use the ingame sun, like IRL, to my tactical advantage, when approaching certain areas or cities. And as for the rays, nobody should get the option to disable it, it would give you nothing but a tactical advantage, over anyone who doesnt disable it. Things like view distance, object distance, player rendering, sun rays and all other important visual factors, needs to be locked down to the same value for EVERYONE, or people will abuse it. Perhaps they can tone it down abit, but no matter what it should blind you when looking at it, and it should force you to think twice about your approach, if you have the sun in your eyes. Well, low temperature does not mean the sun light is weak tbh, it just means it looses its warmth, because it has to travel further, but the glare and UV factor does not get lowered. Have you ever been to green land? Its cold, full of snow, but you can get a sunburn in a matter of hours, if you arent carefull :) This is happening every single day where i live, so i cant help but find it authentic and realistic.

    Gender Discrimination and Prejudice

Dont forget we are fierce socialists in Denmark and most of us are against weapons, so we dont really want to either fight or kill others, which seems to carry over into the game aswell :) All we want is healthcare, jobs for everyone and tons of bacon :D Its difficult to be anything other then a KOS-prick in this game tbh. Most people are very fond of trolling and fucking with other people, just because they can. And i would assume, with the amount of 12 year old pre-teens we have here, it is in no way an advantage to be female IRL. In fact it might actually be a disadvantage, because some people are more likely to troll you. The video on page 1 is a prime example of people hiding behind an anonymous video character, acting like 16th century catholics on a witch hunt. The only thing you can be sure of in this game, is that people are gonna treat you like an idiot and use offensive language. Personally i dont care, its really hard for me to care about some random dude, from the other side of the world, trying to show his penis size in a video game :) But that is the nature of the game. So the best advice i can give you, Caitlin, is to "not give a fuck" :) The less you take it personal, the more you will enjoy the game imho.
