DayZ is far more optimized than you think tbh...
byrgesen replied to Esccapee's topic in General Discussion
Ive never seen Max write a post without underlying sex-jokes, or at least some reference to something sexy.... -
It takes some getting used to, thats for sure. But i wont go as far as calling 3rd a cheat, more of a easily exploited view, which i really dont like. I want people to expose them selves, if they are to look out windows, over rooftops and over walls :)

Downgrading Arma 2 OA 1.63 --> 1.62
byrgesen replied to Dragon_Slayer7's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Next time, theres no reason to make giant letters, people here can actually read normal size letters. But its where you installed it mate. If you have them through steam its: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead If you have the dics version of Arma, which i doubt but who knows, its properly in programs, inside a Bohemia Interactive folder :) -
Slowly back up, close the door and burn the f***ing house down!!!!

I prefer hardcore, because 3rd person view has always been a bad idea imho. The immersion and tension you get in 1st person view, is unlike anything else, and its just not there in regular. Im not gonna tell you what to do, but you should at least try it :)

Loot quantity and type seems all over the place.
byrgesen replied to Acher0n's topic in General Discussion
Theres no reason at all to start to "balance" loot spawns before we have an actual working loot respawning mechanic :) What we have right now, is only the way it is, because nothing respawns, unless you restart the server. Chances are the places you looked, was already visited by someone looking for the same, or you just got an "unlucky" spawn. -
DayZ is far more optimized than you think tbh...
byrgesen replied to Esccapee's topic in General Discussion
In Arma III (or any of the Arma games for that matter) your client FPS depends entirely on the server setup, server FPS and the mission running. Thats why people get so different results when they play online. Two servers running the same mission can vary greatly in FPS, because as soon as the server FPS start dropping, every single client connected will feel it. @OP DayZ has yet to recieve some actual optimization and comparing it to Arma III, is a bad comparison tbh. One of the reasons you cant compare it, is that people are hosting Arma III server from home, from rented server boxes and from "server instances" (what we have in DayZ) so you never know the hardware behind the server and your experience will vary greatly. One of the other reasons its a bad comparison, is the many changes they have made to DayZ, to force it to handle "in-game updates" in a very different way. In Arma, everything is transmitted to every single player on the server, no matter where you are. This means you will recieve information from the server about a person shooting another person, up to 20km away, regardless of you wanting it or not. This does not happen in DayZ, because they created the network bubble. This is the reason you can get 100+ FPS in singleplayer and a completely random FPS in multiplayer, in Arma III. Thats also the reason they dont want to call the engine powering DayZ, Real Virtuality, because it has become a whole other beast, workinig in a very different way. BI has been trying to fix the online FPS in Arma III for some time, but with the latest server.exe it has actually gotten worse with big missions. I know this because ive been playing Arma in milsim communities for some years now and ive created alot of different missions for Arma over the years. As mentioned in the thread by Powerhouse, we have yet to see actual client side optimization for DayZ, they have been focussing completely on the server architecture, so in a way the server is better optimized, but the client is about the same. EDIT: Lol OP got banned XD -
Why? It will give other people a slim chance of finding it, plus it takes so much longer then pressing hide body and i dont want the filthy dupped/glitches items anywhere near my inventory. Imho, hiding the body is needed to eliminate these items. And i want to add i use it every single time i come across a body, just so the next guy wont get what ever was left on it. Survival of the fittest :)

For now we need the option to remove dupped/glitches gear from the game tbh. I use it EVERYTIME i find someone with a "bottomless mag" or with other suspicious items. I know some people doesnt use it like this, but its the only way atm, to remove the items people acquire "illegally". Eventually it would be best to get an animation and the ability to burry people, but i dont mind this feature ingame atm.

What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?
byrgesen replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
Do the "final solution", DayZ style. Once a month, during development ofc, the ENTIRE database is reset. I would welcome this so much. -
So this explains why i never die as fast as when i put on my "Blue Carebear Gear" :D

Why would you leave the North-east corner? Ever?
byrgesen replied to maninthewall's topic in General Discussion
Why would anyone want to stay in the North-East corner?? Ever? Its nothing but a douche-infested deathtrap, full of insta action He-man's and theyr'e "no scope, one shot" troll friends.... When i started my first character, in December at launch, i ran directly west and i have not gone further east then electro, since then. Im living the dream in the South-West corner. Got everything i could ever dream about, theres no kids harassing me 24/7 and the people i run into there actually wants to play the game. By that i dont mean its a carebear heaven, where we sit around a camp fire all night, singing songs and sharing food, but ive run into all kinds of people out there. Survivors, REAL bandits, heroes and the occational screaming 14 year old. In the North-East theres only two kinds of people, and i was describing them, in the above paragraph ;) Seriously, i have no idea why people stick around there. -
True, if its gonna go down that road, the best solution would be a build in feature, auto-kicking people and telling them to change name. Admins should not be bothered with player names imho.
-
Was trying to make a joke, but it completely collapsed around me lol :D I agree somewhat, it would not be ideal to allow people to call them what ever they want, but on the other hand i just dont care about people's usernames in an online video game. They can call themselves what ever they want, it doesnt really matter to me.

What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?
byrgesen replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
If it doesnt breake the game and makes it unplayable, i doubt they will look into it atm :) And no, i dont condone dupping/glitching, but it doesnt make the game unplayable either, so its understandable why theres no focus on it, in this phase of development. -
So no, because your arrow points to Hamburg? @OP Yeh that would be the ideal "online dream", but tbh does it really matter? 9/10 times you wont see a players name ingame, unless he wants you to, and if its "pussyDestroyer#314" or "l33t_N00B_Sn1p3r", chances are you are better off leaving him alone anyway :) Its hard to start restricting things like this, if it wasnt done from the beginning, because now they need a really good reason to change it.

Ohh Irish, you are trying to hard now ;)

What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?
byrgesen replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
Im assuming the guy who said he was showed how to do it, knows hows its done. Did i ever mention everybody? The devs might be aware, they might not be aware, thats why we write up detailed bug reports. But i do remember them mentioning it being fixed, although if dupped gear and glitched magazines keeps popping up, we kinda have to assume its not fixed completely. And even if the devs are "well aware" it can never hurt to give them more information on how to re-produce said dupe/glitch tbh. See this guy knows what should be done aswell :) -
What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?
byrgesen replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
So im hoping you where the good guy here and wrote up a detailed bug report, with a full instruction set on re-producing the exploits? Thats what we have to do, in order for this to be fixed. Nothing will ever happen if they get no information on how to do these exploits. -
let people choose what item they want when they spawn
byrgesen replied to valtsuh's topic in Suggestions
Orlok gave the reason why this would never work in a game like this. Even if its "crappy items" there will still be a "best item" and, like orlok said, people will suicide until they get said item. That being said, i dont think we should spawn with a flashlight, this should be something we have to find, as i dont see why someone waking up on the beach, in the middle of an apocalypse, ALWAYS remembers nothing but a flashlight. :) It would be better if we start with "regular items" like wallets, keys, maybe a pack of cigarettes or something else completely useless, with 0 impact on gameplay. It would only have affectionate value to the player, if he wants it to. -
It could be a simple thing, like the option to start with a polo instead of s t-shirt? Perhaps give them other shoes, pants, a hat of sorts, something cosmetic with a 0% possibility for changing the gameplay. I could see this work, it wouldnt create an advantage for anyone who participated in the development, and it could be the start of "legacy" items in the game?? You know, items which is only available for a limited amount of time :)
-
Eventually i would like these messages to go away aswell, but do you (OP) really belive it will help your cause to write your feedback in such a manner? This could have been a good suggestion with a good discussion, but you kinda ruined it yourself, by starting out that way. But i agree, text like that should not be present in the full version of the game, but for testing purposes, its alright to have some "debug information" like that, It can help narrow down certain bugs.

The problem is, you cant create any RP rules as of yet, because theres no private servers yet :) You arent allowed to kick or ban people, if they do something you dont want them to do, so creating an RP server atm in standalone is pointless. When we get private servers, we will see alot more RP servers, alot more different kinds of servers in general imho, but right now, it does not make sense to try and create a RP servers. Im a sucker for RP aswell, always RP'ed det mod hehe and im doing the same in standalone, when i play. But it will be a while before we get proper RP servers tbh.
