That was NOT an accuracy test. For one thing, speaking from experience, you don't have to directly hit the zombie to kill it. I think it's a measure to deal with bad zombie animation and glitching, but just hitting near the zombie will register as a hit. A proper accuracy (precision) test should be done professionally, in a prone position, bipod deployed, looking at a stationary wall with markings that you can set as reference. I would record the test if I could, but I have magpul stocks now. (And my gun has now turned into a 400+m sniper rifle.) P.S. "I kill survivors for fun" was my signiture when I got my hands on the barrett a year and a half ago on dayz mod. No need to flame over it.

Please refer to the following post I wrote above: Have you even reported bugs? I spent more time than you, giving feedback on this game and trying to improve it, compared to you flaming on a feedback post saying that players shouldn't complain because it's alpha. Blindingly saying everything is okay because it's alpha will make this game fail just like WarZ. The better way is criticising what's wrong, and working hard to let the devs know it needs fixing. P.S. I had posted this on the feedback tracker: http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=871 -
... I'm pretty sure the number of people who can shoot far exceeds the ones with medical training IRL. First of all, every male adult knows how to shoot where I come from, I enjoy an occasional clay shooting, but I don't know anyone who can set an IV entrance. Also, please just try shooting the M4 in a technical manner? I've wasted my precious ammo for this, I suggest you do the same.

1. To people screaming "IT'S ALPHA" -> Yes, exactly. That's why I'm reporting bugs, dumbass. And I made this thread because my voice was far from being heard. 2. To people screaming "YOUR CHARACTER IS A CIVILIAN" -> So... because he's a normal civilian, he's been alive all this time when shit hit the fan, can treat bullet wound and zombie bites, revive people with difibs, and perform a blood transfusion? 3. To anyone writing irrelevant replies: Please don't. ex) I understand you have awesome killing skills with your such amaze FOV settings. The problem here I'm discussing is first shot accuracy. If you really do hit consistently at 300M, you must have Magpul handguards or buttstock. It is said to increase accuracy like 1000~5000%. -
not hitting a man sized target at 70m is retarded. Here's something about Game Design 101: "Hey, your character is untrained. So you won't be able to hit that guy standing over there." -> This is bad. Introduce wind effect, weapon jamming and everything. But just don't screw up the accuracy so bad that you can't hit a target at 70m on prone with a pristine M4, and explain "oh, your character is untrained". In that matter, why the fuck is this 'untrained civilian' alive when every person is a zombie around here? Clearly, the character must have SOME skills. Oh right, then why is there blood transfusion? That's not a common skill. Oh, and bandaging? are you sure a normal person can treat a bullet wound or a zombie bite? Come on. Have some common sense.

Thanks for letting me know about the magpul! I now have a pristine magpul handguard with damaged magpul buttstock! magpul all the way. My whining is over. Enemies' M4s suck, and mine is laser precision killing weapon. I'm happy with that

I'm now searching for MAGPUL parts 24/7 now.... Didn't find any yet. I didn't have the time to test it without the bipod. If bipod worsens the accuracy, there's a serious coding problem. DayZ brought to you by....magpul?

I have been informed that Magpul handguard makes the gun basically a laser precision alien weapon, and without it, the gun becomes a Revolutionary War antique. -

Uh... Like I said, I did a single shot test. Do you even play this game? The M4 was inconsistent, not me. It's not like I couldn't hit a zigzagging moving target at 500m. I couldn't hit a stationary object at 200m. That does NOT require skills, it only takes a left mouse click. Please try out the M4 before accusing me of a bad player. -

Correction: 200m. It is impossible to hit a target at 200m. we were both in cover, so only half of the body was visible. because of the horrid accuracy and the distance, yeah. That was retarded. Kinda reminded me of the time when I was about 90m away from a bandit, went through a bunch of 100round mags, healed myself with a bandage and kept shooting until I ran out of ammo in WarZ. Good times. -

Thanks for replying multiple times, it's at least better than getting connected to an outsourced support chat company when trying to get support in EA. It's just that this is something really really easy to fix, but which is making gunfights really stupid. I've had a 5 minute gunfight with a bandit, using about 300 rounds of ammo (him too) at 180 meters. -

Yes, because Ctrl+F dispersion, and changing the float value to something reasonable would handicap current development schedule very much? -

In that case, we don't need a rifle. All we need is a mossberg. There won't be any end-game gear, there won't be cool features, it would just be a dumb deathmatch with range of engagements within 60 meters. For that, I would just play COD or No room in hell. I play this game to be afraid of snipers, to look at treelines, to peek at a building 800m away scared for snipers. That's DayZ. -

I single fired. Please try out the M4 and experiment it throughly before posting. I test fired my 600 round ammo earned hard by farming for days. and according to the config file, the accuracy in the code of the game itself has been worsened 10000%. (M4 has 0.1 dispersion compared to 0.00175 in ARMA2.) -
Sir, please stand still while I inject my blood into you. hopefully, the types won't match.

Differences of realism as IRL and game. (M4 Accuracy)
mark3236 (DayZ) posted a topic in General Discussion
For TL;DR: Don't be a douche and say that M4 inaccuracy is "Realistic". This game will go down like WarZ if they don't fix this. Shooting 400 rounds at 60m in a fight with other players because bullets go everywhere and don't hit where I'm aiming at GREATLY REDUCES THRILL, SUSPENSE AND FUN. It just becomes like a random mortar fight. Some people seem to have a hard time grasping the difference of realism in real life and games. When you press 'W', your character walks. Shit, that's not realistic? Shouldn't we make the movement like the QWOP game so that we can control every muscle? No. Absolutely not, it would be a nightmare. Likewise, let's talk about weapon handling for example. Sure, you need training to hit well. However, think about this: What if you had to control recoil with your mouse? It would be a fuckin' joke. The gun moves randomly - you can control that with your reflexes in real life. But if I had to control that with my mouse? That's impossible. That's why games have to remain as games. Now, to my main point: See BF4, for example. When you are 'suppressed', your shots go everywhere. As in, I am looking at the guy at 100 yards with a 8x scope, my scope is directly ON TARGET, and my shots just go to some random place. Sure, it tries to simulate 'being suppressed and getting stressed to the point my combat effectiveness is hindered', but here's the thing you learn in Game Design 101: When users feel that what they expect and the results are unmatched, they feel frustration. So therefore, looking at a 100m away target, and my holosight directly on target (free of parallax, btw) and not hitting it? That's bad game design. If you want it to be 'realistic', and not be able to shoot accurately, make scope veer extreme. However, at least make the round go where the reticle is at. M4 has 344 MOA right now. It's just a matter of 1 code line, devs. I even put up feedback for christ's sake. Just please fix this fast. I'm a dev too so I know. This is ONE CODE LINE. It will literally take you 3 seconds, no 1 second to fix this.
