Molotov cocktails would be fun, especially if they were to be craftable as well!

I believe the general consensus is worry about ghosting, as the tactic is rather cheap and detracting from regular game play during firefights. I don't mind server hoppers plugging low populated servers for quick kitting, even though I prefer grinding the old fashioned way myself.
-
I'll gladly make some loot runs for you! I'll try to find you during the week. Keep it up sir, you're providing a fantastic service! :)

I love the fact that the PC version has that in place and I absolutely agree with you on having an even longer timer if / when this is implemented on Xbox! I know the database was trapping characters who switched servers too quickly in the beginning, but that has softened considerably (probably due to the instability of the servers at the start) and just from experimenting, I know players can currently server hop quickly approximately three times in succession before getting a 5 minute or more lockout. I'm sure the penalties will get hashed out as the developers work their magic and I certainly look forward to future updates! As a newer player, I appreciate the information you've provided and I always enjoy your insightful posts. Cheers! :)

Thanks for the care package !!

Geez... How low do they go these days? I'm terribly sorry to hear that and I was actually recently invited to a party mid-game on a Netherlands server and found the invite to be suspicious, so I ignored it... Kind of glad I did after hearing what happened to you. :( -
Ghosting is a very childish tactic, but unfortunately one that the game mechanics allow to happen. I've never taken part in it, nor would I. Currently, like many others have said, there is no way to stop it... If the developers decide to implement a "cool down" period between logs, that will hinder it, but that will also affect players who do not ghost and maybe were disconnected or logged off to complete a quick chore, so it's very much a double edged sword there. I can only stress to keep patient as I believe the ghosting population is relatively small and will only continue to shrink over time as "kids" go back to COD.

Oh snap! Sorry my friend, I misunderstood your post then.

I'm not sure, but it'll be fun! I'm hoping they implement throwing items as well... How funny would it be to throw a teddy bear at a bandit who points a gun at you? xD

How to minimise the risk of betrayal?

I love these techniques, well said! -
Spent a fair amount of time on the outskirts of Zelenogorsk last night on a loaded server, didn't hear one gunshot or see a single player... Going to push further East next session.

There are just a few diseases present in the game already, but nothing keeping your character healthy and drinking plenty of clean water cannot cure. The more extreme diseases are yet to come and I'm not looking forward to that as I have yet to buckle down and start getting used to cooking food and purifying water...

That explains why my last female character was always bleeding without taking damage... They sure do make these games realistic these days! xD

Yes sir, bullets do pass through doors, windows and some thin surfaces but the ballistics aren't quite fine tuned as of yet and the trajectory of the bullets tend to be very erratic after collision. For example, I shot at an infected who was literally up against a window pane on the outside of a building I was in and the first shot shattered the glass but no apparent hit on the zombie, the second and third connected no problem. Another time I had been engaged in a firefight with an unknown number of hostile players, locked myself into a small pump station (single door entry) and was killed after a volley of bullets were fired into the door itself from the other side...

I notice the more inventory I carry, the larger the delay when opening the inventory screen or transferring items to and from hands, etc. I've only had one crash thankfully and that was before the last update. I highly recommend using an external SSD to save the game onto and play from however, as the delays that I experience using this with an original Xbox are mere seconds compared to what you and others are reporting. I currently have a full load out of goods stashed within an Alice pack, UK assault vest, TTsKO pants and jacket, so much so that I can't even switch weapons without dropping or eating something and my longest delay dealing with inventory has been no more than 4 seconds.

So I found and watched a herd of cattle for about an hour last night from a perfect treeline which contained a small stream and some apple trees nearby (slightly Northwest of Veresnik). Perhaps deer or elk may behave differently, but the cattle didn't wander around much from where I found them... They would move perhaps 25-50 yards in any given direction and take turns lying down on the ground, but they did seem to stick together with any single cow wandering too far from the herd redirecting itself to keep within perhaps a scripted zone of the others. It wasn't the most exciting thing to watch, but an interesting find inside the animal mechanics nonetheless. For science indeed!
-
I've been noticing the animal spawns changing rapidly as of late, as where there would usually be a group of game during one session, it isn't there the next. Of course the hunting game may have been killed or chased off by other players or NPCs (Wolves and infected will chase game animals as well), but I also wonder if the herds will migrate out of their spawn areas as well over time... I think I've got a long night ahead of me watching herds and seeing how they act over the course of a session. *Adorns safari gear and readies journal*

Night lurking is going to be sooo much fun!!! It'll probably be the safest time to loot cities and when / if NVG comes...

I must be lucky... I've only ever been killed twice with one shot and one of those times was from a M4 within eight feet and the player who killed me shot me in the face. The other time I was jogging across a farm field and received a sudden death screen with no gunshot heard. Both times I was a mostly fresh spawn and had no weapons, headgear or any clothing other than what I spawned in with. All other deaths from firearms have taken 2 to 6 hits and in every one of those cases I was pretty well geared with at least an assault or flak vest on. As far as taking down other players, it's been the same 2 to 6 hits depending on the caliber used and what the player was wearing.
-
Wolves freak me out a bit... They're quick, scripted to perform flanking attacks and are NOT fun trying to dispatch with melee weapons. Firearms obviously make short work of them, but I certainly try not to fire shots unless absolutely necessary to not only conserve ammo, but to also not to attract other players to the sound of gunfire (unless using suppressed guns of course). I do enjoy the added threat however, as the infected aren't a terrible threat on their own, unless of course you aggro three or more at one time. I'm both intimidated and excited for the addition of bears, if they're still to be implemented into the game as well!

Giving life to Teddy bears
Molecular Drift 1.0 replied to Andyyypandyyy's topic in New Player Discussion
That's a fun idea! Maybe worms? Might be spooky, but also something to chew on if they're hungry and not to mention very easy to come across with a shovel! -
I've had a lot of luck finding both deer and elk between Black Mountain and Black Lake. Black Lake also seems to spawn quite a few around the shoreline as well.
-
Very good to know and that makes perfect sense as I noticed elk seem to keep to a constant distance from me when hunting. Thank you!

Now I don't spend a whole lot of time in cities, but I've been to nearly all of them. Is it just me, or is the amount of infected drastically higher in villages than in cities? I've seen upwards of 15-25 infected roaming around small villages, but maybe 5-15 in larger towns and cities... Could it be that many were cleared out by other players and the bodies were scrubbed before I arrived? Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this or if it's just the timing of my arrival, because I have yet to see large numbers of infected in any city and I never seem to find any bodies laying around. By no means am I complaining, simply just curious.

That makes sense! Just kinda figured there'd be more mobs in the cities. :) -
