That's a good tactic that I've tried to implement, but I tend to be a bit jittery and expend far too many shots trying to blast them in the chest and head as they close the distance. My favorite tactic for them is to run a straight line while keeping them in view, wait for one to engage in a sprint attack, side-step to avoid it and fire two to three shots into it's broadside as it recovers from it's missed pounce. Rinse, wash and repeat until the surviving wolves retreat. I've had great success with this tactic, but keep in mind larger packs usually mean multiple rushing attacks at once and in that case, you're more than likely going to take a hit or two. In the case that you don't have a firearm, hopefully you're close enough to some infected to have them pull aggro on, otherwise I've never survived a wolf pack without a firearm...

So far, anyone I've befriended on DayZ hasn't turned on me, they've all been classy. But, I've heard the horror stories and I know my trust will be ill-misplaced at some point, but hey... it's DayZ right? ;)

I really hope we end up getting bayonets, they would really help save on ammo and probably be pretty decent for keeping rushing wolves at bay.

Indeed I have. Saw what appeared to be a single infected in a mostly open field, so I decided to make my way towards it to see if it was lured out by someone or perhaps an animal. As I closed the distance, I noticed more and more zeds... Ultimately ended up seeing around 14 of them staggering into the field and around the treeline West of it. This took place shortly Southeast of Dobroe and left me utterly confused.

Someone else reported this under the "where's my loot" topic. So far you're the only two I've heard of this happening to here in the forum, but the game is still Alpha and some updates might be erasing newly acquired gear is my take on this. The servers do get taken down for maintenance and some smaller updates, depending on what time your were playing may have played a role in what you experienced.

It truly does and will help! That's what I use with my 1st gen Xbox One and have had no frame rate or lag issues other than playing on servers in other regions. :)

Good call my friend! I'm just extremely thrilled to have DayZ on Xbox... I spent years watching other people play it on PC and was so tempted to buy a new PC just to play this game! I'm not worried about the bugs or character wipes from updates, this is an Alpha after all and everything will get ironed out and added in due time. I love the warm scenery of Chernarus during the clear sunny days and the ominous looks of the deep woods during foggy rainstorms! The ambient sounds are fantastic and the general freedom of exploration is highly appealing to me. When I first heard Dayz would be coming to consoles I felt my heart flutter, then I heard it wasn't so likely and my soul sank... But it's here now and will only get better with time. Thank you team DayZ!

This probably isn't new, but it's the first time I've seen it happen. I had an infected woman climb up and leap off of a wall taller than the character models to get to me! That completely caught me off guard as I expected her to have to run to the nearest opening of the enclosure to pursue me into the streets... The infected are quite acrobatic!

I have yet to find any military grade weapons that are anything above "worn" condition (M4's, UMP45's, AKM's or MP5's), so I can't really answer this regarding the effectiveness of their condition. I can say that firing any of the previously mentioned firearms using iron sights or optics from first person view has made the trajectory of the rounds fired (semi-auto) true or zeroed using "worn" weapons however. I hope this helps!

Military barracks, tents and lookout towers have the best chance of spawning 7.62x54R ammo. Believe it or not, I've also found that loose bullets have a decent chance of being found in hunter and military clothing as well, so make sure to check the pockets on that clothing laying around! This ammo can also spawn in police stations and police car wrecks as the gentlemen above have stated. The ammo can also spawn (albeit very rarely) in generic homes, barns and deer stands as well.

Purely cosmetic my friend. Eventually we Xbox players should be able to customize our avatar's appearance, but that may not be for a while.

When I first started playing, I was on high pop servers. After getting a baptism by fire and dying of hunger / thirst or being killed by players far more geared than myself shortly after spawning, I started going to lower pop servers just to get somewhat familiarized with the map and mechanics without the fear of dying immediately. Since becoming far more comfortable with my ability to survive, I've been back to mid and high pop servers. Remember that many people are using lower pop servers for squad based training, looting, gearing or just getting orientated with mapping, directions or generally just used to surviving the game. It's a huge map to explore and I imagine there are others who would just like to get the feel of an area without being sniped or stalked.

Dolina? It has a water pump, natural food and water sources near the village store. Also, it's within decent range of many spawn points and out of the way enough that you shouldn't get too much bandit traffic.

... That sounds absolutely terrifying! I haven't come across this yet and I certainly hope not to. Anyone have a screenshot of this? I just peeked around and can't find anything.

Too bad we got dodged last night. I hunted that huge hill we came across for nearly an hour and found nothing other than some nice scenery... We'll get some game next time my friend, the herds and packs can't avoid us forever! xD
