Keep in mind that mines currently ignore walls and floors, don't just hide around the corner of one you plant in or near a small structure unless you're wanting a quick ticket back to the coast.
-
Not yet. It might be possible down the road, but I don't think it's even possible for PC players yet.

Is the shooter firing in third person mode? I only ask because the trajectories from third person shots are not accurate from a distance of more than five yards. Also, I've set up kill zones in room corners and have still been killed (luring hostile players, NOT waiting to kos randoms... xP). As far as the tents go, I have not fired from or been fired at while in one.

How true! I've seen about eleven in the act over the last fifteen hours that I've played. Before the server numbers dropped, maybe four over the course of twenty hours of play...

On average, it takes me eighteen hours to get my character the way I want (I'm picky...). I don't need much to survive in the woods and can have a character ready to do so within an average of an hour (I usually don't hit military areas near the coast and I rarely hop unless I just can't find anything useful after a good hour of looking). Once I have a pack with a decent amount of food, maybe two PET bottles of water, a pistol with at least a mag, maybe 20 rounds of ammo and a melee weapon, I head deep inland and will spend a great deal of time putting the finishing touches on my character. By the time I'm done, I'm usually starting over due to a wipe... LoL! But I love the thrill of the grind and starting on the coast gives me a fun amount of anxiety, though maybe not as much as being near NWAF.

Adequate nights please... My burglar-looking mug stands out too much lurking in all this daylight. : /

Finally I have a base raid tale to tell.....
Molecular Drift 1.0 replied to john garcia's topic in New Player Discussion
I have yet to raid a base. I did spot a decent sized one near the Northern-edge, center of the map in a NL server... It had four large tents that I could see from where I was, some walls and such, along with a set of dirt tracks leading into it. I considered raiding it, but I was solo and that base looked as though it was managed by a decent sized crew and I figured they'd have a sentry or more guarding it, so I just continued my mushroom gathering westward and didn't get within 200 meters of it. I may go back and check it out if it still stands this weekend. -
Good choices! I like black jeans or black cargo pants, black backpack (any), black field vest, black field jacket or black quilted jacket, black balaclava, black working or tactical gloves, black hunter boots or black wellies, and black beret or black skater helmet. Crossing any open terrain during daylight gives me anxiety, but these things make me very happy as long as hair and noses don't clip through...

For new players: 7 tips to get over gear fear and boost your confidence
Molecular Drift 1.0 replied to nhow7108's topic in New Player Discussion
Speaking of cooking pots... if you have one in your inventory and find that items you pick up "go missing", check inside the cooking pot as it will begin to fill with items as your clothing / backpack slots get filled up. Even it it's filled with water, it will still fill itself with items you grab as well. ***Note: If this was corrected with the latest update, please ignore as I haven't played since then***. -
I'm truly loving this game, even though I'm taking a slight snooze from it for a bit. I understand the frustrations by many of you, I really do and I'm happy about it... I'm not happy that many of your are put off per se, but your frustrations tell me that you dig this game and are just anxious to have it complete. I too am anxious to have it complete, but keep in mind the PC players have had a much longer play-wait-rebuild-play-wait process. Heck, what was the last release by Bethesda that didn't require a multitude of patches and updates to make it playable? Look at what Fallout 76 is going through right now... It'll get better, wait and see! I'm off to play some FO4 which just had a rather large update after years of being released and I've got some new mods to try! :)

Going AFK in any structure is a no-no for me, especially one that spawns military grade loot... that's just asking for trouble. As a smoker who doesn't smoke in the house, this makes for crucial decisions. Typically, I'll just log out, or hide in a thick tree cluster if there's one close by. I've seen friends hide in sheds when AFK and normally you wouldn't think the chances of being found in one would be terribly high, but I search them all frequently as I tend to find some of my favorite cargo pants in them (and a fair share of track pants too...). If I happened across someone who was likely AFK in a shed, I probably wouldn't shoot, given I wasn't startled off the bat and fired first... xD

Haven't seen a nightfall yet since the wipe, so I'm hoping that the grain effect has been removed. If the grain is gone and the nights are along the line of how they were when they were first unleashed on XBox, then YES, make them longer again! :D

Servers are up! Character wipe! *end thread*
Molecular Drift 1.0 replied to Man Parts 241's topic in Xbox
Haven't been home to check yet, but based on the responses, it looks like I get a fresh start too! ;) -
So the cars are more brutal than the infected, diseases, wolves and roosters combined... I think I'll continue my travels on foot until this is rectified. ;)

What period of restart of the server?
Molecular Drift 1.0 replied to Dmitriy42's topic in New Player Discussion
I'm also interested in this, but I think we'll all have our answers on the 13th when DayZ goes 1.0. I've spent hours on a home server and never even saw a night cycle (but from what I've heard, I'm not sure that I'd want to with the grain filter and all...). -
I don't condone combat logging, especially if the logger fired the first shot or attempted to engage in combat. I do understand someone logging when under fire and all they intended to do is scavenge or role-play (keeping out of military zones and having their weapons holstered of course...). When I come across a military zone and there's someone already there looting, I'll leave them be as I have no proof of them hopping. If I see someone just appear out of thin air in a military zone that I wish to loot, then I'm going to try my best to kill them. Beyond that, I do not KOS unless the other player has their gun out and ready. That's my view and rules of engagement, though I understand everyone has their own views and rules as well.

Seriously, i'm living off the grid now. Zombies are insane.
Molecular Drift 1.0 replied to bent.toe's topic in Xbox
A friend of mine got swarmed and killed in Kamensk while I was roughly five to seven minutes from him. I made a beeline to the outskirts of Kamensk to find fifteen zombies somewhat clustered around where he died and no body / gear left. Even if his body were still present, it's doubtful I would have survived retrieving his gear for him... -
Some players report they're losing things to crashes and server resets, some servers are being reported to vanish completely and many bases / stashes are being raided or stolen... It's difficult to say right now.
-
Many players are either very skittish or just massively aggressive. There's SO many play styles and I think a lot of it boils down to trust issues, though there's those who are bandits or just shoot on sight because it's their preferred method. Although I tend to keep characters alive for very long periods of time, I know at any moment, I could get a "you are dead" screen in the blink of an eye and not know what even happened. To be honest, I haven't even tried the new additions to the emotes. The last emote I used was suicide with an AKM on the eve of the last wipe. xD
-
I'll play RPS with you, without any malice involved... :)
-
I agree fully as I prefer night over day, but I hope they revert the level of darkness to how it was when they first unleashed it. I totally get a moonless night being very dark, but even with moonlit nights lately, it's been overtly dark / grainy...
-
I do like the extra care needed when looting as a typical loot run even in a smaller hamlet when running solo now takes me approximately 15-20 minutes when before it would only take me approximately 5-10. That said, as many have reported, if you plan on just running in and out of a town or hamlet, especially with the infected being bugged, you can find yourself in a deadly situation very quickly... Be safe out there!

Xbox one dayz server not shwoing population
Molecular Drift 1.0 replied to Smoker34677's topic in Xbox
I was testing it last night and the servers weren't bumping... perhaps it's on my end, but after trying a few choices and refreshing, the servers were not moving after a few moments of waiting for population changes. *Shrug* -
I'm pretty sure you need a jerry can, but then I haven't even messed with vehicles yet, so don't quote me on this... : /

Xbox one dayz server not shwoing population
Molecular Drift 1.0 replied to Smoker34677's topic in Xbox
I'm digging the hidden server populations as it should hinder the hoppers. Now they have no clue if they're going to end up in a higher count server and end up with a face full of lead when jumping into a military zone! :D
