    ROLE PLAY DAY ANYONE ??

I’m with you there. I’ll either talk through prox or party chat, and just use Xbox to message if need be. All these newfangled concoctions!

    ROLE PLAY DAY ANYONE ??

Great idea! Im in the US, otherwise I’d be up for that. Good luck finding some good RP’ers.

    Server Owner ?

Yeah, that’s the thing with private servers. Much like in Ark, you really have to know the owner, and understand the rule set for their server for it to work.
  4. Awesome to see threads and experiences like this! Good on you op for helping to crate a more dynamic and positive experience within DayZ. Surely, you will receive that same kindness in return.
  5. Greetings Survivors, I’d like to start by expressing how grateful I am that we finally have DayZ on console! I, as I’m sure many of you, have been waiting years for this. So thank you Bohemia and Microsoft for making this happen! As I’m sure many of you have watched Frankie play, and may have heard him talk about the progression of play style within DayZ. He mentioned how some start out friendly, become kos bandits, then may eventually start holding people up, or even helping them in some capacity. My question to you all is, what play style do you see yourselves as? Considering we have yet to have a game like DayZ on console, most console gamers are used to kos games like cod, PUBG, and so on. These games seemed to have created the mindset to shoot first. Doing so, seems in my opinion, to take away from the potential experiences we could have if we were to try and establish communication. My hope, is that we evolve as gamers, at least in DayZ, to try and create a more dynamic experience. As some who may wish to be friendly, could easily be swayed to the dark side by being constantly kos. What are your thoughts?

    Hero vs Bandit Play Style

I’ve recently ran into a couple of geared players. Once with a team member, and once solo. When I was with my friend, he spotted the guy as we were leaving the police station at Novo. Of course, he didn’t have a mic, but used the hello emote. I noticed his pistol out and ordered he holster it, which he did. His hands were bloody, and other than putting is pistol away, he did t react to any other cues. We told him to take off since he didn’t have a mic, we watched him work his way up into the woods. Then, my friend noticed he was lingering in the tree line with his Mosin aimed toward us. We had a couple of zombies fighting a wolf right next to the police station, so I shot the wolf and zombies, then went out to skin the wolf. Wouldn’t you know it, the guy is back next to the slain wolf with his hand up. This time, I aimed my m4 at his head and told him he better lay prone if he can hear us, which he did. Now knowing he was able to hear us fine, I told him he really needs to take off since he has no mic, and for acting so suspicious. He seemed all too happy to comply.. My second encounter when I was solo was at the northern military base. I briefly caught a glimpse of a guy as he ran into a tent. I repositioned around a barrier to get better cover and sights on him. I said hello, and asked if he was friendly. I then see him walk out of the tent with his hand up, m4 in the other. After telling him to holster his m4, he just drops it to the ground..even better. I approached him and asked if he had a mic, shaking his head no, of course.. I could tell, even without talking, that this person was somewhat trustworthy. I told god m to go ahead and pick his rifle back up. After a few more words and a thumbs up, we headed our separate ways. These stories are perhaps a bit long winded, though I feel they are important glimpses into the types of experiences one can have when they use their head, instead of listening to their itchy trigger finger. Encounters like this could have rippling affects upon other survivors. Maybe one of those guys starts to use their mic, and decides not to kos, but be more diplomatic in their approach.

    Locked Character Database

Please extend server times as soon as possible, even if it’s the only patch. This is ruining the experience. I’ve logged into too many servers to remeber which were resetting within 30 minutes or so. I’d rather play with server hoppers, than have this happen so often.
  8. Similar issue here as well. I join lower population servers, and tend to get hit with server resets, sometimes within 30 minutes. Had the proximity chat bug, logged out to fix it. Trying to log back into the same server got me locked out. I really can’t wait until server reset times are dialed way back.. Please Bohemia, sooner than later!

    Missions

So mods on console are something you guys are considering? I’m wondering if it will be a private server only option, or perhaps certain official servers will have such an option? Very excited to see what’s to come!

    What's being worked on

This It’s very similar to most games developed on pc, then ported to console. Think Ark and PUBG. Perhaps not everything will be identical, though it’s a great way to get a general idea of what’s down the pipeline for Xbox.

    Need more food spawns

Interesting, I was under the assumption that hurling would cause ones hunger and thirst to plummet afterward.

Your guy isn’t hurling after eating all that?!

    Controls for Xbox One

Yeah, that’s why that function with just the head moving is needed on Xbox. If you play PUBG in first person it’s pretty realistic how it allows you to free look. I’m pretty sure the panning function is a thing on pc. It would still be nice using it, in either third or first person with around 120 degrees left to right in first.

    Controls for Xbox One

I would love to see the leaning while ads function PUBG has. It feels very natural. Hopefully we get this function soon, as well as the ability to pan the camera around.

    Dying for no reason

Not sure how realistic the gunplay is in this game. If it is anything like real life, you won’t hear the shot from beyond a certain distance, as the round will travel quicker than the sound of the shot.
  16. Hehe, that’s awesome! I’m going to try that.

    Dont buy this game.

While I agree with the general consensus of game preview, we shouldn’t be content with the status quo. The whole point of preview is to test the game and provide constructive feedback, bug reporting, etc. The key word here is constructive.. A lot of us are very passionate about the games we play, as a result, we may at times not verbalize our gripes in a constructive manner. Personally, for the initial port to Xbox, I believe this game is heads above others. I’ve partaken in a number of early access titles, and DayZ takes the cake. Vigor is very close behind, of course since it’s Bohemia.. The servers do indeed need a fair bit of work. With the error messages received, and being locked out of the server, because you joined a few servers which were resetting within a few minutes is a bit ridiculous. All in all, patience is key..

Please can we have ... ?

I’ve not seen blood animations on my character when losing it. Blood splatters from shooting is visible. Hopefully they add it in at some point.

    Hero vs Bandit Play Style

I understand your point of view. You’re right that all the different play styles helps create a varied experience. So far, I’ve really only encountered kos style players. Aside from the one unarmed guy I held up. It’s definitely a risky approach to give people the benefit of the doubt, though the result, If positive, could create lasting experiences.

    Hero vs Bandit Play Style

I don’t necessarily agree that one needs to be a bandit in order to pursue the hero style. There’s a difference in holding someone up, taking all of their gear, and potentially killing them, as opposed to holding someone up, and having them briefly drop their gear to try and establish trust. The differing factor is the mindset of said player. As we have already discussed how console players have been tinged by these kos games, that play style, even when talking about being a bandit, no doubt bleeds through to this game. We should try our best to shape the game and this community to something more dynamic, as mentioned in my op. Although, it will undoubtedly test ones resolve. As we will expect to be killed more times than not. Dont get me wrong, I won’t hesitate to shoot if I get a whiff of hostility. That said, I’m currently fully geared up, but have no intention of killing innocent players, or robbing folks, as I don’t need anything. This is the point where that dynamic aspect can come in to really make the game interesting. Escorting Bambi’s through hostile locations, hunting kos bandits, ect. All the while keeping your eyes peeled, particularly on the Bambi.. You just never know. Time will certainly tell where the community takes this game. My hope is it just doesn’t turn into another GTA or PUBG mindless kill fest.

    Hero vs Bandit Play Style

That’s a good tactic to try and safely establish communication. Ive been playing with a friend who always uses party chat. I’m going to stay in game chat now. In the hopes of doing that and seeing if I can chat with anyone. I did have a one way conversation with a guy who wasn’t using a mic, but could hear me. I held him up, then asked if he needed food or water. He motioned no, and we were on our separate ways. Let me know if you’d like to team up. I’m always interested in playing with new people.

    DayZ just blew my mind

I think a lot of people don’t know about the push to talk function. I didn’t for a while either. There’s certainly no hand holding in this game, which is a good thing.
  23. Nayte

    Just a heads up.

I’ll keep that in mind. Also heard to holster your weapon before logging out. Supposedly, some folks are losing their equipped weapons when logging in.

    General Hints & Tips

Yes, try aiming all the way up and down in third person. This should fix that issue.
  25. Great idea! I’m going to try and talk my friend into doing this. It seems like you miss out on so many great opportunities when in party chat.
