    Down on D-pad ??

Guess I’m not the only one who prefers game chat over party. My friends are sometimes puzzled when I tell them I’d rather stay in game chat and just use a two way to communicate long distances. Sure, there could be bandits eavesdropping, though that makes it more fun. M1NDR has a great video where he met a couple of survivors on the radio. Those types of interactions (even if scripted in that case) leave a lasting impression. Here’s the video for anyone interested: It’s all about the immersion..

    Xbox Update 04/02/2019

The devs have stated that they’re looking into implementing separate K&M servers for Xbox. Controllers while limited, have the option to have multiple functions of the same button. It may make it convoluted for some, while being great for others. An example being push to talk. Holding down on the d-pad to use for that time, or double tapping to keep it on indefinitely. Of course, we’ll ever have the amount of options and mapping to the level of PC on a controller, though it’s not too bad given what we got.

    Buried loot disappeared

I’m always looking for some fellow friendly survivors. Feel free to add me. My tag is the same as my name here.

    Board??? RP Anyone?

I agree with you, and 95% of the time I play the friendly survivor or “hero” as it’s referred to. The trouble is, lots of players simply don’t care if you’re being nice. They are out to kill regardless. I can’t tell you how many players were caught wayyy off guard when I approached in a friendly manner. Of course, I had the drop on all of them, as it may have turned out differently otherwise. I actually had one guy I spoke to in a house, who flat out said if I didn’t talk to him he would’ve just shot me. That’s debatable as I had him dead to rights, watching his movements for several minutes before making my move. The best thing you can do to better the DayZ experience is to keep playing the hero survivor. Even if it only changes the mind of a few players, those few could do the same to a few, and so on.. As I’m sure you’re aware.. be ready to die, a ton. The hero play style is going to test your will, more so than any other approach. If I could play the devils advocate for a minute as well. While the kos mentality may be aggravating, it’s yet another style of play which makes things more interesting. You just never know who you’ll encounter.

    Board??? RP Anyone?

I’d have to agree that private servers would be our best bet for some serious RP, which I’d love to partake in. Alternatively, you could try gathering up a bunch of people who are interested, then try finding a low pop server to test it. Who knows, you might slowly turn an official into a makeshift RP server.
  6. Thanks for all that. It definitely makes sense. I haven’t really had the opportunity to test these things out on official servers. I just thought clothes offered no protection, other than from weather conditions. I was talking to a friend the other day about the possible protection offered by ballistic vests and tac helmets. Although, neither of us wanted to be guinea pigs..

crafting wish list!!! ok here goes!!!

I just really want the bow and arrow.. Then I can fulfill my desire to become a bushman, trying to live solely in the woods.
  8. Personally, I like the current reinforcement style of building. I don’t disagree that destroying bases should be more time consuming, though I’m not sure we really need another Rust style game, even though Xbox doesn’t support that game currently.
  9. Damn, I was getting used to not having to care about the state of clothes. Thanks for this info. I was wondering if there were any negatives aside from being unable to re-equip ruined gear, and it being a bit brighter.
  10. Uh, I have no idea. Says my profile is 100% complete. Feel free to PM me if you have any ideas.
  11. I think it really depends on what the developers initially thought about when planning out the base feature for the SA. Is what we have now what they had envisioned? Did the community have a swaying effect on that original idea? Regardless, the base function serves to add content to those who wish to partake. What players choose to do with them really depends on their style and mindset. However, we can all agree that when online bases and loot is concerned, raiders are right there. Unless it’s a private/RP server with rules against it, that loot is likely vanishing. So in that sense, it would seem to be a loot and hoard style of gameplay. One where we can certainly draw parallels. The watch tower style design to me seems to be more of a reinforcement style of building, rather than a Rust or Ark level of building. When I initially heard of building in DayZ, I had imagined more of a reinforcement of already existing buildings. Boarding up doors and windows, while stowing away some gear. To me, unless it’s a PvE style of play, which usually means I’m building it to look amazing, bases are used to: -Store loot -Gain a tactical advantage Since I only have official servers as an option on Xbox, I cannot speak to the varying experiences one can have while on private or hive servers on PC. (please don’t kick me out, I like it here) From my experience, I can’t really see myself building all too much on public servers, maybe once/if we get private servers I’d dabble in that and farming. Even an offline mode, as lame as that may sound to some, I find playing solo to be enjoyable. Personally, I do agree bases should take more to destroy. When you consider the time invested to build, compared to how quickly they’re destroyed. I’m not saying they should be invulnerable. The balance just feels off. Your ideas on costing x amount of axes, or needing a certain key/code to access locks is the right type of feedback. Feedback is what’ll help iron out the bumps we have now. Now we’ve come back to an earlier point. What was the developers original idea when implementing bases? Have we, and/or are we changing that original vision? Does it look like it’s creating a better DayZ experience? I’m sure we’d have as many different opinions as play styles in DayZ. As for my member name, I’m not sure why you can’t find me. Perhaps I’m supposed to reside in the space in between.
  12. There absolutely (as a newer community member) seems to be that cult like following you mentioned within this DayZ community. That was part of the allure for me. A company that sticks to its vision without some AAA publisher up their backside, has the freedom to take their time and bring it to fruition. It seems there’s always a cycle with games. Barring the history of the development on PCs side, games tend to go through the honeymoon phase. A new game comes out and masses flock to check it out. After a while the “casual” player moves on to the next new thing, leaving the core fan base left. It’s that balance where developers have to decide (and all too often many do) if they “need” to alter their game to bring in more players. They have to pay their bills, sure. However, if you try making a game for everyone, you end up making a game for no one. I can’t speak for other Xbox players, however I DO NOT want “DayZ Light”, some watered down experience that’s suppose to cater to the more casual player. I want the true gritty survival experience that PC players have had for years. The problem is, and this seems to transcend platforms, that a lot of people need to be drip fed new content constantly to stay active. It’s like, if there’s not any new flashing purple items to collect the game isn’t worth it. “It’s too boring” or “too hard”. It reminded me of quite a few game reviews I read and watched concerning KCD. All these established journalists condemning the game. Calling it boring, too hard, and buggy. Sure, it had (and still has in some cases) bugs, though it is easily one of my favorite RPG’s I’ve ever played. I know a lot of this is pure conjecture, though thought I’d add my $.02.

    Survival aspects

It was mentioned in an article months ago that the bow is no longer a priority. Maybe they’ll implement it again once the major issues have been ironed out, and we have better optimization.

    Why I quit Dayz

DayZ is the type of game (as I’m sure you know) that’s not if you die, but when and how. Most players who find exploits use them. Is it weak, yes. It’s about adapting and moving forward. The game has been littered with bugs since the beginning. Hopefully we’ll see those major ones patched soon. Others have stated some important factors. Mostly, from the clip alone, you took too long looting. Especially while at NWAF. It would’ve been better to just: Try and run away with one article. Try and talk to them. Or the option you chose. I understand hindsight is always 20/20, regardless, you have to be ready to die, often. At least we don’t have malicious hackers on Xbox. Not sure if you’ve followed DayZ since the SA, though there were hackers on PC who could essentially kill anyone on the map with pinpoint laser accuracy from what seemed like a 50 cal. chain gun. Our issues are frustrating yes, though it’s just part of the development process. Sometimes, a break from the game does wonders.

    Lack of HC players

I really like this idea. Not only would it add more server options, it would solve the server hopping issue some players have had. Personally, I don’t mind that feature. As with most things there’re positive and negative aspects. It’s too bad we don’t have an Xbox suggestion forum section.

Who actually build bases and repair cars?

    Thanks for the chuckle.

Who actually build bases and repair cars?

Ah, that very well could be it, as I’m still learning the limits of what the car can handle. I don’t recall hearing shots hitting the car, though who knows amongst all the chaos. Thanks for the info on how weak the car is. I enjoy browsing the PC side, as you guys absolutely have the knowledge.

Who actually build bases and repair cars?

I’ve been playing this game since it’s release on Xbox, and have followed the game from the SA on. The addition of cars and base building certainly adds some variety to the survival aspect. That’s not to say whether or not it’s needed, or one should partake in those activities, only that it’s there to dabble in. I agree that the buildings should be more difficult to destroy, given how much effort goes into creating them. Cars are another feature, while currently quite buggy, offers a change of pace. My friend and I spent around 5 hours finding all the parts for a car we found up north. https://xboxdvr.com/gamer/nayte/screenshot/11695623 After finishing the build, we fueled up and headed to an undisclosed location to try out the building. https://xboxdvr.com/gamer/nayte/screenshot/11695635 https://xboxdvr.com/gamer/nayte/screenshot/11695637 Once there my friend had to leave, so I spent another 4 hours collecting axes, nails, and all the other essentials to try out building. https://xboxdvr.com/gamer/nayte/screenshot/11695651 Another hour or two had passed by this point. I went back to the car where I stashed it to sort out my items. It was then that I heard a soft rusting close by. Quickly exiting the inventory I turned to see a fully geared player raising his M4 at me. I turn and run around the car pulling out my rifle as we exchange gunfire. He then runs off into the woods as I try to flank around, bandaging in between. As I made my way back to my base location I noticed it.. My beautiful car had been stolen. It would seem he had a spare plug. At first I was rather disappointed. All that time spent, gone. However, that feeling subsided, giving way to a feeling of relief. The burden of watching over the car was absent, and it felt good. We still had the satisfaction of finishing the job, and enjoying the car (when it wasn’t bugging out). Hell, we could decide to go looking for it if we want to. Although, it’s likely they’ll suffer the same fate as I, if they haven’t already. As is the way in DayZ.

Yeah uh, not sure where you quoted me saying that, as I don’t buy anything I don’t like..

DayZ will be on Xbox Inside at March 12th.

I’m curious to see what the update holds. Even if it’s mostly major bug fixes and optimization’s I’ll be happy. Any other new features will be a welcomed surprise.

    Non toxic thread (i hope)

No need to apologize for quoting if you wanted to reply. I didn’t notice any notification from you. Nice thread, it’s refreshing seeing something positive on the forums. I’d like to hear some of your DayZ encounters. Personally, I don’t find those things boring. Each experience is unique, and leaves an impression.
  23. All those threads do get repetitive, however most of those players are just looking for a means to vent their frustrations. I can’t imagine any of them are expecting true sympathy from the community. More of a direct message to the developers that they feel progress should be quicker. The best course of action is to not feed the flame, and let those threads drift off into the corners of cyber space.

    Dayz | PS4 | 2019 |

This. Xbox is essentially the bridging point between PC and PS4. Without our early access program, it’s likely we wouldn’t see these great games on console for a long time, if at all.. Very heartening to see this stated. Thank you guys for all your hard work!

    Non toxic thread (i hope)

Here’s a lengthy story which happened to my friends and I recently. We were on a low pop server looking for better gear for my friends, as they had just downloaded DayZ earlier that day. One of the guys was making his way towards us, while we looted around the Stary Mil base. I was on the other side of the base when I heard gun shots ringing out. My buddy tells me he was just killed by two guys on sight (shocking, I know). I wrap around towards his location and spot them. I light one up with my M4 which caused him to hit the deck to bandage. As I try to reload, it just puts the same empty mag back in... At this point I stand up and start sprinting to the long barn to bandage, as I sprung a leak, and also needed to sort out my mag issue. Heres a clip of what happens shortly after that: https://xboxdvr.com/gamer/nayte/video/70532874 Once they were dealt with, along with the couple dozen zombies that rushed in, I foolishly decided to loot them. Just as I double carried one of their USGs for my friend, a third one shoots me from 20ft with a mosin. Luckily, it was only another flesh wound, and I sprung up and put him down. Que another dozen zombies, then I back tracked out and wrapped back into the woods. By now, my other friend had made his way into the base location as I was clearing the last batch of zeds. I then hear several suppressed shots, and my friend tells me he’s dead too. Once I got back up along the wood line I noticed at least one up in the red barn sniping, while a fifth one pushed the long barn. They were all wearing black arm bands. I tried to find a way back in to flank them, however more zombies had spawned, making a stealth approach nearly impossible. We decided to call it a night by that point. What struck me was, my friend was still mentioning how much he really liked DayZ. He was not turned off too much by that kos squad. A testament to the truly unique experience DayZ has to offer.
