I can imagine it being a weird space between wanting to just go PC, yet not taking the plunge for one reason or another..

Ghilies In The Box And A Criticism Of The Current State Of DayZ
Nayte replied to PEACE_543's topic in Xbox
Wow, very intriguing read! I always wondered what the detailed lore of DayZ was, and where the hero term came from. I’m going to have to read some more into it. Is the wiki the best place to gather “official” backstory? -
Thanks ImpulZ, are you able to confirm if taking multivitamins actually counteracts a weak immune system?
-
I wonder if even coming into contact with an infected body would’ve still gotten you sick, regardless of drinking the canteen?
-
It really depends on how you want to play. I find those who use the hand helds (myself included) tend to want to communicate with not only their group, but others using prox chat without having to switch to game chat from the party. It just gives one a more immersive experience. Not to mention most people in party chat likely won’t switch to game chat to talk to randoms, as they’re likely to just kos anyway.
-
Trouble is the party chat privacy is controlled by Xbox, so BI wouldn’t be able to set something like that up without working with Microsoft. Usually, if I’m in a party and spot another player close by I’ll quickly switch to game chat. It’s a tad risky, as it takes about 5 seconds, so hopefully you can find some nearby cover if they haven’t seen you.

I think the idea to blend games sounds good, though ends up causing the original game to lose it’s identity. Dayz has always had (and has) a very special appeal. Something different from all the mindless kill kill, respawn, “what now...? Oh yeah..” kill kill. Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoy PUBG. However, it should continue to do its own thing, while DayZ does theirs. That’s not to say certain modes or features couldn’t be added to private servers (custom games?), though it shouldn’t detract from its original mode.
-
Heh, I believe it. Not surprised the devs had the foresight to separate them.
-
Yeah, I really hope if BI supports K&M on Xbox, they at least have dedicated servers for them...
-
Switch to PC then? I can’t tell someone what they should do if a particular feature isn’t implemented..
-
I’m guessing towards the end of January to early February.
-
This 100% I enjoyed that analogy.

The insatiable digital age having patience?! I’m with you anyway..

I agree I think 30 minutes to an hour would be a nice balance for night time. The 4 or 5 hours it used to be was way too much.

How To Escape Psychological Suffering While Playing DayZ
Nayte replied to Survivor1431's topic in New Player Discussion
This cannot be overstated enough. All too often people are pursuing the “next best thing”, instead of taking a moment to slow down and appreciate the little things. -
If you double click the analog stick in you will switch to FPP. A mic will absolutely give you a more dynamic experience, pending the disposition of those you encounter..
-
The only issue I foresee with locked servers is the possibility of the devs removing/changing them as they have in the past. I think once private servers are implemented, those who don’t like server hoppers will have a dedicated PS to fall back to.
-
Ah, the possibilities for a hold up conversation there would have been amazing. ”Hey there, nice base you’ve got going. Why don’t you go ahead and put your hands up for me and show us what goodies you’ve got.” Ect ect.
-
Yeah, give it a few months and you’ll see why a lot of us enjoy lower pop servers, particularly when trying to loot up after being kos time after time in full pop servers. Then spawning only to be killed two steps in (this has legitimately happened to me). Some people play this game as a pure PvP experience. This, imo, is only a fraction of what DayZ has to offer. The fun comes in trying to talk with others, forming groups, helping new spawns, role playing, etc. I’m looking forward to private servers, if/when they come.

Yeah, raging chimps would terrify me far more than wolves.
-
I’m still half expecting to run into a Bigfoot at some point.
-
Ok but, if it doesn’t have micro-transactions I’m not interested!
-
Zombie bears.. man bears.. man bear pigs!
-
Maybe someone poisoned the canteen?
-
Is there anyway to disarm a mine if you find one armed?
