I updated my game yesterday on the experimental servers and in the darkness I am no longer able to play the game. The night before last I was playing and during the night cycle I had no issues and was rather enjoying myself, I have only had the game on pc for a few days. Since the small update yesterday I have found it near enough impossible to play during the night cycle. I had a similar issue on the xbox during the night cycle and put that down to my capture card, however the same issue seems to have creeped into this version. I have been in numerous places generally in the UK and France, I am a fan of astrophotography and seek the places that are as far from light pollution as possible. There are a few places in Wales listed as dark sites for taking photos of the sky at night. I can't speak for the Northern parts of Europe, but I would compare the darkness in the video of an experience I had in a cave with no light sources and I couldn't see anything. It's a shame really as I have now resorted to playing daylight only servers, maybe I should request 50% if my money back for only being able to play half of the game

I see what you are saying about its dark and it is working as intented, if the intention is to make the game unplayable then yes it is working. But I have been in numerous situations of no street lighting and in the middle of nowhere, this is not true of being in the dark. I'm all for immersion in games and I think this is a bit over the top. I mean you can't see the back of the players head! I think all this will achieve is to push the players away from the game. What was wrong with the version before the update? They could have toned the darkness up a bit and still made it immersive and I don't think changing servers or playing servers without darkness is a viable solution to this issue.

This has probably already been covered but, everytime I try to update steam DayZ to the experimental servers my update says cancelled when it finishes. I've only had the game a couple of days on the PC and the Stable version works fine. I've tried the update like 5 times now and get the same result everytime.

I tried it again this morning and it worked this time. Not sure what is different this time around but it's working so that's good enough for me. Thanks for your suggestions

Yes over 1.8TB of space, also I am installing it in the same directory as the game install

OK so picture the scene, you are in an open high risk area but you need a drink. You run to the nearest tree and get inside it, your drink is in a cooking pot but your inventory and hands are full. You drop the drink on the floor, but, its gone from your inventory screen completely. You look around the tree and find your drink floating in the trees with no way to get it back, I actually lost a cooking pot full of stuff, an axe and some food all at once. I even tried to cut the tree down but although there was wood and the ground the tree was still there with the items still stuck in the branches. Moral of the story.....don't play drop inventory items in trees.

Not sure if this is an issue for anyone else.......but I can't see sh*t in the dark, litterally nothing. Its like waking around with 10% vision, I have tried adjusting my ASUS ROG Swift monitor settings but it makes no difference. Even with a flashlight it improves my view by about 5cm. The game is boarderline unplayable for me like this.

It would seem that I have issues with my display, an Xbox capture that clip I made shows a hell of a lot more when I watch it on a different display. I made a torch out of rags and sticks on the xbox

I play on a monitor via elgato game capture HD, maybe that has something to do with it. Changing the brightness, contrast and gamma had little effect :(

I've had to turn it off, it's unplayable. I've walked for around 45 minutes, I have no idea where I am or what is around me. how I havemt walked off a cliff I dont know and I can't even keep a stream viewer for longer than 5 minutes.

Yeah but I can't see a metre in front of me even with a torch. What's the challenge? See how long you can walk without being able to see anything before you get bored? Crafting a torch with a stick and rags helps a little but I didn't buy a game to not be able to see it.

I was entangled in a fire fighter yesterday, I noticed the player shooting back was aiming straight up to the sky. It caught me off guard and while wondering what he was doing he hit me and killed me. Don't trust what you see

That's pretty much what I did last night, sniping from a chimney stack with an suppredsed SVD, it was funny watching them run Ning around trying to see where I was.

I was in a US server at Electro last night and it was mayhem there, at one point I saw 7 kitted guys come running out of the church after a huge gunfight! They were hunting bambis, I managed to take down 6 of them with some slick sniping after 2 of my crew got taken out. I put a link to the video on this forum.

The best section of a stream I did last night, it's long but lots happens. Even taking down a squad of 6 or 7 bandits. My stream even got raided with almost 100 viewers near the end! Did anyone happen to catch my announcement on the NW Airfield PA System? NWA FM was in full effect, we were pumping out some Zombie Nation just before the server restarted. Shame really as I went through a lot to get a Car Battery there and when I rejoined to use the system on a more populated server there were 3 guys already there! Luckily the one who tried to shoot me gun was glitched, so it didn't fire, then I managed to talk them around and spent the rest of the session roaming the map with them.......good times!
