No man, private servers have there own character databases, so every new private server you join will have a new character that can only be played on that server. But on public servers you can move your character from server to server, but will most likely log in near the coast but with all your gear after switching, new server hopping mitigation has been added to stop hopping. Ghosting. Duping etc. Hope this helps

I've also had occasions where I've joined the same server after going to sleep (9+ hrs) & it's respawns me far south. I dot mind as I'm sure this server hopping system will be tweaked over time but frustrating when you play only one server & log out

Somebodies a salty little soldier, dude I'm streamin on mixer to like twenty people. Man up & suck it up. And Frankie didn't use cheat codes, he made semi staged videos on private hive modded servers in order to make YouTube content. With a lot of help from other big DayZ modders, script builders & content creators, you don't have a clue what your talking about, if you throw your toys out the pram at some dude sayin youve killed freshies on DayZ then god help ya, that was like five months ago lmao And I've never told a anyone how to play, if everyone llayed dayz the same way td be pretty damn boring, not that I've touched it in three months -

Realise warfare where rounds travel at the 10th the actual speed, you can take 10 or more rounds form an MP5 and keep on trucking, a trained soldier would never set up FOB in a one stair well one doorway building like every camper in DayZ. Also not seen many soldiers who have weapon sway like there trying to shoot of the deck of a ship at sea In The middle of the storm of the century. Oh yeah and almost forget the magical TPP shoulder mounted invisible drone that enables you to see round corners without peeking..........super realistic mil sim dude. I bet the military would love warfare to being DayZ , if you run out of ammo you can just dupe some more or combat log. -

Dude, most people play TPP and camp on door or one stairway buildings for forty minutes and log out. Dayz is an interaction game not a solid shooter. The combats slow & clunky, even good ol Frankie on PC thought it was a cr*p shooter. Unbalanced, slow, massive pings & latency, stagger mechanics & randomised FPP gun sway. Look at the concurrent figures for rainbow six siege and tournament payouts and then tell me the concurrent playing figures for dayz and how much tourney money they make. Zero, nobodies getting any prizes for kills in DayZ & I've sunk more hours into than most and won pretty much every gun fight I've got into but not through skill, it's just a camping and flanking match or carrying an OP gun like LAR or shotty. Plus a response of essentially Get Good is prett rude, I can see why your on you're second forum account at least. -

Xbox certification only checks for crashes to system and network predominantly, they in all honesty wouldn't give two f*cks at Microsoft if the actual update contents is completely broke, sony on the other hand actual play test game updates & if they deem them to buggy or game breaking have been known to send the devs back to the drawing board. Just for clarifications sake, also Vigor hasn't gone free to play yet & for a game with in game currency system it's actually better than say COD or most EA Games. There's no pay to win as money spent on better in game loot or airdrops effects every player, so if someone spends cash & dies the loot/airdrop remain a better quality. Not sure how that equates to gambling, but the gunplay in Vigor is admitedely very similar to DayZ so therefore sucks a little bit, random weapon sway, stagger mechanics when hit as well as aim punch, janky non competitive based randomness. Love both games but decent shooters they aint -
I agree wholeheartedly, hopefully we will get it Vigor Bohemia other xbox exclusive game preview game has all this option and more so fingers crossed.

I too wish the double tap would return, it definitely made it less KOS as people could feel safer whilst taking to a random stranger as they could aim, shoot & move whilst talking. now the new hold system just promote KOS. But lets be real, were talking about a game based around a central loot economy that hasnt worked in over three months out of game preview. So you have more chance finding unicorn sh*t than double tap being added back in.

Great post dude, but I can see you are new here. If DayZ implements any mechanic and it shares similarities with mechanics added in other games that have been tried & tested to perfection. They instead implement a completely different system that is completely unique & always far worse for the sake of originality over functionality. Like the lean system being added to LB/RB instead of thumbstick push like on PUBG or R6Siege where its been proven over time by users to be superior. Also the community has asked for the ability to Map there own keys for a year now to no avail. they've also asked for sensitivity sliders for free look, general movement, TPP, FPP & all scope sizes to no avail. I could go on but i think you get the picture by now, basically everything you've written is 100% correct & forward thinking, in fact I'd argue its all very simple modern console gaming standards that most games companies would automatically follow & aspire to for there products. But you are preaching to the deaf my friend, much respect anyway.

DayZ tweeted that the update wouldn't come this week, so either it's been resubmitted as soon as it was denied by PS4 in which case the earliest you'll see it would be the 5th of august which is estimating a very fast verification process, it would usually take longer or it hasn't been submitted yet and it'll be later. ImpulZ confirmed that it cannot be released on xbox alone as both consoles share the same server databases making this option untenable but didn't confirm whether the update has been resubmitted yet, only that more stability & crash fixes have been added since the update denial. I got the game in game preview so it was significantly cheaper & I haven't really played it in over two months. I used to stream in 8+ hours a day 5 days a week for 5 months solid and built a great community playing it. But as soon as the controls were changed & the duping began, I was out. It feels bad as my viewers loved to see the game but I won't play a game I don't find fun or simply doesn't work anymore. I respect how hard it is to develop a game but rushing it out of game preview hiking the price up and making it 1.0 was only ever going to enable more criticism, warranted or not. If I had paid full price for the game I would most definitely be livid after 3 months of over half the weapons not spawning. But tbh I'm just sad that I have zero urge to play the one game I've wanted to play on console for many years & know inside & out. I really hope the update fulfils everyone's expectations when it drops & brings the game to where it should be, but I fear without the will to make big changes to the game in order to stem exploits it'll all be for nothing anyway. I hope I'm wrong, if tent cities appear a few days after the update eventually drops then I'm afraid it'll be an uninstall from me. Good luck Bohemia

How will you enorce rules with no way to ban profile names? Only way to keep people out is with password protection & they could sign in with one of there hundred accounts & break rules as they see fit. No ability to turn on a kill feed to help report rule breakers to server owner & no ability to assign admin abilities on server either unless you want to give out your user name and password to your server management account that is

Most people renting the servers want to create open servers for RP or specific play styles or simply just clean vanilla DayZ, Like the majority of all private hive servers on PC. I dont see many people forking out £60 a month so a few friends can run around doing PvE on a gigantic map. That'd get very boring very fast.

Yep, being a server admin or owner is a massive task, especially without modded admin tools. without the ability to TP to someone or enable God mode to investigate support cases its almost impossible to tell fact from fiction. Even with really detailed logs available to the Server owner & a dedicated team of Admins who are available 24/7 on a white listed server its a full time deal. Time will tell how effective these servers are & how good the way they've addressed exploits such as duplication are in the update, but i for one would definitely not be pre-ordering a server before even seeing the new server setting it'll be running with the next patch, you may just be throwing £60 quid down the toilet for a buggy exploit filled nightmare that could take months to be fixed (sound familiar lol). hopefully in the future the ability to turn on a global kill feed and server log-in/log-out feed will help Admins combat the use of toxic exploits. Even just running a normal vanilla DayZ experience with no RP rules would be a god damn nightmare if the Exploits are still just as prevalent.

Private Console Servers Pre-Order and FAQ

@ImpulZ Will there be a log for individuals logging into the server & out? in order to combat & detect people duplicating in groups? can server owners ban players? Also will there be the option to see peoples IP addresses in order to perma ban them from private servers completely so that they don't just change profile and log back in after a profile ban? -
thanks for the heads up dude, think ill pass lol. I'd rather not sit looking at connection logs 24/7 to see the endless chain of people logging in and out duping in order to spend the rest of my life banning folk lmao. Whoever actually hires these servers is going to have a full time job on there hands or end up wiping the server every day. basically paying £50+ a month in order to fix exploits for the dev team

@ImpulZ Thanks for reiterating the planned update release schedule, hopefully all goes well with the Xbox verification process. Any chance we could get some extra details on how Duping has been addressed in 1.03/1,04? its most definitely the biggest issue effecting console at the moment & i'm sure the DayZ team would like to put the communities mind at ease that significant fixes are in place. Thank you in advance for any details

If it's any help, I emailed ImpulZ who was kind enough to respond & asked about extra server details. He stated we would receive more info before the update is released. So don't expect the update till more official info is released. Doesn't help with info or a timescale but now you know.

I really hope they add custom controls, first they made it really awkward to free look & zoom by changing the controls for that. Now its the same button to free-look & zoom so you have to zoom then free look which is awful. then they mess up leaning by having to double tap to change from one direction to another, feels slow & clunky. I play a lot of Rainbow Six Siege & PUBG, the thumb-stick click for lean has been tried, tested & proven to be the best method for leaning in shooters on console. These random DayZ controller schemes seem like a needless attempt to reinvent the wheel. Plus in 2019 why isn't there a separate sensitivity slider for free-look, look, soft aim, ADS & for all scope magnifications? like every other shooter released in the last 5-10 years. I love DayZ or did before duping ruined it but these easy Quality of life changes make or break a game.

Great news about the full character & server wipe as well as private servers being introduced. But for me the best news is that fixes for duplication, server hopping & frame rate issues! Also the hint of future DLC which i'm guessing is Sumrak's re-mastered Namalsk map, i could be wrong but it would make total sense as hes a part of the map creation team already. what do you think the DLC could be?

Really depends on what the private server options are, if there's a kill feed or accessible admin kill log, with good 24/7 admins to report exploiting players too then I'm down to play. But without solid server admin functions like being able to perma ban gamer tags & see who killed who, when & where then it wont make a single difference. also being able to see who is logging in & out & how often to stop duplication & ban people accordingly. All of this needs to be functional as well as said private server having that 24/7 admin that can be contacted. I just wish they'd introduce instant deletion of all items held in the hands on logout or disconnection, itd suck if you get de-sycned but i'd rather that than have any form of duplication.

@RicKaTaNski thanks for the heads up , I really wish they'd just implement instant deletion of all items held in hands at logout, just put a warning on the log out screen that all items or weapons held in hand at log out will be deleted, unlucky if you have a power cut or quick switch profiles or whatever. Its a game & you can just loot again to get a gun or whatever. I'd personally be fine with this method of fixing duping. especially now character can carry a weapon on both shoulders & shouldn't be running with a gun in hand anyway. Its not a perfect solution but it'd completely stop duplication & make the game playable What does everybody think of this?

I'm more than happy for them to focus on Bug fixes & stability for the rest of the year tbh. I'm an Xbox one player & I'd rather they get the game to a place where I can walk/drive through large cities before more mechanics are added that'll bring even more bugs. The games not at a great place to be adding anymore content after this update in my opinion, I too have concerns about the future development cycle also, so don't go thinking i'm completely at ease. DLC wise im hoping its the re-mastered Namalsk map that Sumraks been working on in his own time, I know Chernarus like the back of my hand so It'd be well worth the cash to own a new map, anything less than a new map would be lack lustre for DLC I think. Also the BR mode is fine by me as it was there for the Arma Mods too & was a fan favourite that inspired PUBG so if people want to play it thats cool. All just my humble opinion though & if this update still doesn't wipe out duplication completely then I'll most likely be uninstalling anyway in all honesty.

I doubt it dude, they've previously stated that they'd need to find the right server provider & come up with a good way to control server settings for users before releasing. This would lead me to believe that you wont be able to run servers from a second Xbox & that it'll be a monthly payment deal of some kind.
