Not surprised by negativity about upcoming 1.0
TheYetiBum replied to Mantasisg's topic in General Discussion
Experienced players can get end game loot in an hour or less then it becomes COD deathmatch but with a 100square mile map. If your relying on player interactions to make a game enjoyable then you're game is lacking content. The end game ATM is too easy and basic base building and ground vehicles are basically tools to allow experienced player too harvest and keep end game weapons faster and easier, which in turn will increase there ability to deathmatch. Don't get me wrong I love PvP in dayz and also love player interaction but once you've killed 100+ players with every gun and combination of clothing and items etc , there's just not enough things to do, no depth or nuance. Just my two cents, many enjoy the rinse and repeat nature of the current build but once you know the map Inside and out it feels lack lustre to me. I prefered playing a less optimised version with a lot more items, vehicles, heli etc, it was the vast amount of variables, items and weapons etc that I loved the mod for, I couldn't have cared less about it's jankyness -
Oh and you've already used the act your age comment before on the forum and it garnered zero high fives then but gg

Love your reasoning or lack of it. A products values is based on it's users need and perception, if a users perception of a products ability to fulfil it's desired function is lower than it's value of necessity then said product falls into obscurity. It's simple supply and demand consolidated with good business practise and sound product development. None of which has been applied to SA DayZ. and bro I'm drunk and give zero F*cks about DayZ but you have personally made my night, I used to sit in meetings all day with studio execs discussing how to hype games pre sale with total disregard for product viability or functionality so please keep having blind faith and keep those dollars rolling in, my replacements will be happy atleast, just a shame the majority of consumers wont be :D
-
@Vernon_Price Just looked at your previous comments, wow dude, do you live in a cupboard at BI head office? Cos you seem to do a lot of defending & seem to know a lot of internal processes at the studio. Weird huh? you also seem to have the same amount of people skills as the BI team do.
-
And I'm 36 years old so "kiddo" is a little bit short of the mark
-
Lmao at you defending a game that even forum members at over level 3000 are disgusted at ATM. and as I stated before I no longer work for said company and aren't stupid enough to post under my own name, why would I trust anything on your profile, if you were a BI Employee you hopefully wouldn't be dumb enough to write that in your account info whilst pretending to be a random user. Hey I'm glad you love the game in it's current state and feel that it's 1.0 release is fair and ethical business practice, that's great for you. maybe try using empathy for the overwhelming Amount of people, especially PC users who feel the complete opposite to you. Maybe try reading the status report comments or reading steam reviews. Your opinion is the minority
-
You couldn't sound more like a dev or BI employee pretending to be a normal poster if you tried lmao, your even surfing the console section at a low poster level when you obviously have PC Knowledge. If I hear fire features used as an excuse I more time lol, a game is a game , if the 1.0 doesn't have everything the mod has it doesn't deserve to be a 1.0 . Plus on console 1.0 means full release to most people, the average consumer is far younger on console and abusing people perceptions by using the terminology 1.0 is pretty gross. But hey go look at the steam rating and player figures , I think you'll find most consumers agree with me by a long long ways.
-
I work for a playstation affiliated company or did I should say. 100% cash grab, and where exactly would you know that all these bugs and stability issues are working now on some magical internal build for 1.0?
-
Only time will tell buddy, let's see if hit reg, dwarfing glitch etc are fixed by 1.0 release. and guess what ps4 release is slated q2 2019 so yeah PC release is slated for around Xmas 2017 so dunno why you'd call me a liar. I'm not a BI dev whose promised numerous content/update releases that never materialised am I? For over five years. plus more people play Arma 2/3 dayz mods than SA version so pretty much everything you've said is moronic BS
-
Lol most people moan about lack of content because 0.62 had ten times more content then the new engine took 6mnths to come and we have bugs and stability issue on console that had existed for over half a year on PC. People are generally just p*ssed off as they know by now that you could give the game a year of stability fixes and next to nothing would change. The games going full release before Xmas on PC in the state it's in now! That tells you all you need to know right there. I love the idea of the game but it's nothing like 0.62 or the Dayz mod so it's pretty fair that people would be asking for more. If there gonna go full release with this laggy, buggy mess they may aswell put some content back in if were gonna be zorping about without touching controller or being beat to death by invisible zombies who take no damage, or putting a full clip into someone's head with no hit reg, if rather be playing that god awful experience with some sick clothes and weapons rather than the basic selection we've got now.

Lots of the OG PC DayZ supporters and people running sites with dayz info etc are jumpin ship after the terrible latest status report. Which for obvious reasons doesn't get posted seperately here on the xbox section because they want as little people as possible knowing there dumping On there community. Go read it and the reactions, sad and gold at the same time
-
Lmao. Guy makes mod called DayZ, people play mod to death, love it & it's features. guy decides to make SA version of Mod as people seem to really really like those features, it takes a long time. It's takes even longer. It takes so long apparently most of those features and mechanics aren't actually features anymore.....there flavours now like strawberry and vanilla. Even the content, mechanics & features from previous iterations of SA become flavours also. Eventually even the players that started as features become flavours, heck they even just dissapear.
-
Nice thread, but you should read the latest status report . Full release is happening before Xmas and all it's gonna have oter than what it's got is maybe basic base building and two ground vehicles & that's only confirmed for PC lol. No guns, items or mechanics that have been tested over last five years. So you may be waitif about 3-5 years for achievements guys as vaulting, craftable bows, fishing, helicopter, the 20+ weapon , weapon attachments, broken bones, bikes, ghillie suit, item colouration etc etc etc all need merging back in bit by bit and all the bugs that'll arise from that will need fixing one by one . You get my point
-
I'll take you at your word & wish you and the team the best of luck. Just remember that you don't have to manage community expectation, they only expect what you tell them they'll get. and remember that base building is great but with the pervasive ghosting issue it'll only cause mass aggravation being implemented until there's fix or work around to stop players abusing it, but it's your teams baby though and you can raise it anyway you see fit. I personally would have focused on updating & adding in all legacy features from 0.62 & the original mod and getting that stable before anything else as a base model for 1.0 . ive played for only two months barely & already feel like I've had my fill, without much weapon choice, ghillies, spraypaints more craftables and what feels like half a health system the game feels empty and tbh spending a fifty hours building a base that someone's gonna ghost into and fighting over vehicles isn't going to make the game come alive. good luck with your endeavours and I guess I'll check back In a year from now, probably around when the new consoles arrive. thankfully the PC guys get modding to pass the time unfortunately us console chaps might get a hold breathe function if were polite.

@RaptorM60. Also my suggestion to you as a brand manager would be to get a detailed compete list of items, weapons and mechanics that will definately be in game on launch, I know the status report touched on these aspects but certainly a detailed extensive list of items & weapons that will be included would go a long way to restoring some faith/positivity amongst consumers , I'm sure you had more than a notion that this status report would not be taken well by consumers it just puzzles me why this list wasn't included to at least alleviate some negative response. I do not envy your job role right now & I certainly bear you no Ill will & wish the team the best of luck, I still have faith that the game will be worth playing in the future , it's just a shame that'll be even further away than expected.

Firstly thankyou for the response, I can imagine your all very agitated at the moment & it's generally not in my nature to be combative. I respect anyone who works hard and has passion for there work, but I do speak plainly My only point is that once you condense your response down removing business double speak it reads as this. we promised too much or hyped too much for too long and couldn't deliver on said promises/hype and therefore lost consumer trust. Subsequently a snowballing effect on development arose as new mechanics, features and items were being created faster than bugs could be fixed or stability raised which has interfered with merging new content. I understand all this and respect games development timelines are fluid, no one can fully ascertain how one added feature will effect core performance and other mechanics etc, I am a very patient consumer and can forgive almost any wait but that wait or setbacks of any kind need to be fully explained at the time not hidden away & not compounded with more hype and more promises. Simply stating that you can't deliver on a previously stated brand standard, already set by you the DayZ team for 1.0, not by the communities expectations but literally stated by the development team. What is puzzling me is how would you then make the logic leap to sticking to the original 1.0 release date instead of postponing, doing the bug/stability fixes necessary and adding in content previously stated as being in 1.0 before release, as your statement above doesn't explain that reasoning. my assumption is that it's to keep to a finance schedule and to capitalise on seasonal sales after being put Into full release marketplaces cross platform, do not get me wrong I do not mind why it's being done even if it's just because it needs to be done financially but some transparency would be nice
-
You see your unprofessional reply to a paying consumers post with an obvious sarcastic response as if this is a school yard spat tells me all I need to know, especially after the vast majority of all steam reviews are negative , the vast majority of all forum posts on latest status report are negative. Would you like to explain in detail why the game is being released with the vast majority or features that were previously stated as being in the game in 1.0 won't be in the game, rather than further postponing? if You went to a restaurant and ordered a 12oz steak and was delivered beans on toast but was still charged for a 12oz ........oh and it took the waiter 4 years to deliver. would you feel that you were treated fairly, honestly and ethically?
-
Dude I'm a console player and even I get why the diehard long term fans who have been on the forum forever would lose there minds over this blatant cash grab, push it to 1.0 so that it can go on the playstation network asap as they pretty much don't allow early access. So shove a finished sticker on it and take in that money lol. you don't promise or even insinuate key features, items and mechanics for nearly five years and then with a few months to go suddenly announce that 80% of previous builds and tested mechanics, items, etc won't be in the full 1.0 release. this isn't a little fan passion project between friends, we are consumers who bought a product expecting it to perform as advertised and it isn't going to deliver. Not only will this make a lot of long term players leave, it'll draw new players in who will play for a short period and leave due to lack of content. Jesus the games been out for only two months on xbox and there's literally only one full server at peak times, that's what happens when people realise they've been ripped off.
-
Doesn't matter anyway boys, haven't you heard the games gonna be full release by Xmas lol, oh but it'll only have basic base building (enjoy people server hopping into you base tho), and two ground vehicles added. No new guns or previously tested guns put back in, no fishing, no vaulting or climbing, no helicopter, no decaying bodies, no zombie hordes, no broken limbs or concussive damage, no throwable items including any form of grenade, no craftable bow or recurve bow etc etc etc etc. Basically everything the devs have shown off, tested or said would be in the game at 1.0 full release. But don't worry they gotta get that PS4 money's so it's definitely finished (minus 80% of what PC players have been waiting on for 5yrs), I doubt it'll even be more stable and rid of desync by next march never mind Xmas lmao. i wouldn't waste your time arguing over how long something has to be in game preview before Microsoft take over as nowadays games companies can promise you the all stars in the sky and then give you a small rock and say well it's close enough be thankful.
-
Hey, what geo location are you in & which servers do you typically play in? The new countdown timer won't let you reconnect until three minutes have passed so it should be impossible to be locked in database through server hopping now. I'd advise filing a bug report via the link on the main forum page, I personally haven't had any issues so far with this patch but I'm sure your not alone with the issues you're having, better full that form out and hope the devs fix ASAP, I'd put your gamertag in the bug report too Incase you get a prolonged database lock so they can release it server side for you
-
I'm keeping my fingers crossed it'll be the same across all platforms and all future content/updates will be free on console. Even if this is the case and it will be free it doesn't detract from the fact that 1.0 is most definately only gonna be 1.0 by name not by content.
-
Yep couldn't agree more, the obvious assumption from fans was that all removed mechanics, tested mechanics & items along development would be merged back in before 1.0 Why would anyone assume anything else, who knew all along PC players were testing DLC content for console lol. because that where I see this going, additional cost for 'flavour mechanic & content' to come after 1.0 release as DLC on console. As far as I'm concerned 1.0 as described in the status report is less than a quarter of what was previously alluded too. Im yet to here free additional post release content anywhere for console.
-
Yep the main issue with product development, any product that is. Is that you get tunnel visioned, especially in the game industry, you forget that what may be good news within the team is actually terrible news to the community, that's acceptable directly within the development team as there pulling long hours and spending numerous hours on mechanics, items etc under the direction of a leader who then may decide that those things aren't needed or necessary. It's a frustrating, tiring and demanding job. i am not here to take a steamin dump on devs or members of art teams, animators etc. but whoever the project leads is, the brand manager & finance manager as well as social media manager need a serious sit down to discuss public perception and long term product viability. But there playing the numbers, actuaries actually sit and work out perception/profit and after a nice fat xbone payout looks like the numbers are in & the numbers say no matter what we say or release, people will still buy the game on console
-
Also whoever the DayZ brand manager is definitely slept his way through this status report. Unless I was completely out of touch with reality and the general bad press surrounding this game there's no way in hell I'd have allowed this report to be released in this state. Even this lowly commenter knows that when you wanna give a gaming community a bag full of bad news you wrap it in nice shiny wrapping paper and tie a bloody bow on it, the 1.0 announcement should have stated somewhere exactly in detail every single item that's being added back in, none of this oh it'll be too long nonsense. Throw the community a frickin bone and learn some damage control. Mays aswell just said "we want more money so were gonna stamp DONE on it in big letters so PS4 will let us sell in on the playstation network" i get it, it's a product & the dev team most likely have zero say on product release etc, it's in the hands of the money men. But jeez soften the blow atleast
