With all due respect, I do not see the difference between having to start over due to a bullet through the head or because of a server wipe.

Nice roadmap with some interesting things to look out to this year. Not sure why some people expected more from this roadmap as this is exactly the same as last year. They could have touched upon the desync issues, cars and fan favourite the bow. But they already mentioned that desync and the cars unstability was going to be looked at this year in the 2020 year review. Pretty sure that they also already mentioned that the bow is coming back this year. Especially looking forward to the improvements on the infected. Hopefully this also includes better pathfinding as this is one of the more ugly parts of the infected as also ties in with the difficulties in combatting them. Making weapons more unique is something I look forward to as well. They are all too similar right now. I do hope that we see further additions such as notes, books and more crafting possibilities. Also further texture improvements are welcome to assets around the map. Lastly, I don't play on official servers, but I can imagine that people don't like a wipe that often. Perhaps do it once or twice a year max.

True, they fulfilled everything from the 2020 roadmap. Except the amount of patches of course, but that was due to COVID. I found the 2020 roadmap pretty bare-bones though, but I honestly miss that since now we did not got anything. I mean some vision for this year would be nice. Just gives an idea to where we a heading.

I think the fireplace bug only started to happen with 1.10 right? At least I experienced it three times during 1.10. Thankfully not so far with 1.11. Should be fixable if this bug only recently appeared. But yeah, sad to see that it is still not 100% fixed.

The servers got wiped with the 1.11 patch. -
This is basically the reason why we have these issues with vehicles. A combination between a new engine, moving from client to server-side and BI cutting down the DayZ team by 2/3. Imo, they probably should have stayed with client side. Anyway, this is all in the past. Now we can just hope they fix/improve it

Ah fair enough! I usually play on the runningmanz or Karmakrew Livonia server. They are pretty good, so if you ever want to give it another try I would recommend those. -
This. @THEGordonFreeman You act as if they could just casually include a fix for cars in a patch. If that would have been the case, it would have been fixed a long time ago. Lets hope they fix it rather sooner than later.

Even though it is far from being realistic, I do think that nutrition is decently balanced. You need to eat insane amounts but there is also enough food to be found. Basically it is kill an animal, skin it, cook it's meat and then you can walk around for hours. If you do some casual looting on the side you can easily maintain the full nutrition icon. They could make it more realistic, but I think it would require a complete overhaul of the system and CLE

Feel the same. Spawning fresh in and build up your character is one of the most fun parts of the game. When I am all geared I found myself to wander around aimlessly from time to time. But to each their own of course.

If you are unlucky you get a cold when you just spawn in. As most of the time your character is in light blue temperature. -

Totally forgot about that. Back then they mentioned it needed some further development. Was is not patch 1.6? I do have the feeling we see some improvements on the physics department this year. -

Well it is almost certain we get the bow back, other weapons and car(s). However, what I wish is that they put some effort into adding the final bits of content that we still miss from 0.62 and before. We just miss a handful of weapons, animals and vehicles and some other content (notes, books etc.). it seems doable if they just put a bit more effort into this department. Just feels odd that we still miss the bow for example after more then two years of 0.63+. I mean, I enjoyed them giving cooking a big overhaul last year, adding the flagpole etc. but somewhere I just feel that they should now focus on getting the old stuff back in first. Especially weapons and animals. I simply cannot imagine that it will take that long to do if they just focus a bit on it. Looking at features, we only miss ragdolls as a major feature from the 0.62 era. However, I do not see it coming this year sadly. Nonetheless I do see them expanding on existing features this year. More crafting from animal hides and poisoning/infected wounds I think are first to come. Perhaps writing notes. Anyway lots of speculation. By the way, where is that roadmap? Perhaps on Tuesday with 1.11 release? -

We had a big update back at the end of November with the holidays soon after. This update was always meant to be a bug fix/stability patch, so I don't see why you are so bothered by the lack of content. Sure, I was disappointed that we initially did not get a new gun (as every patch so far had one), but here we are and we got something to shoot with. Regarding the guns, I think most people do not care about the RPG and SAW at all. An LMG would be nice but this game needs better weapon progression. Meaning bow/xbow, PM73 RAK, MP-133 or perhaps the Bizon. Steyr AUG is nice, but we have quite some endgame weapons already. Anyhow, I am sure the devs are doing whatever they can by pleasing all kinds of peeps. It is not their fault that the team got cut by 3/4 halfway through 2019. -
Honestly, I think the temperature system that got introduced with 1.10 is kinda bugged from time to times. I had multiple moments (especially on Namalsk) where it seems that I did not get have the right temperature indication. A week ago, for example, my friend was all white while I was balancing between dark blue and light blue. He did not have any better gear or what.

I vaguely can remember that there was this Status Report back in 2018 that mentioned different maps (civilian, military etc.) being added to the game and that you could put marks on that. Wondering what ever happened to that plan... -
Yesterday I came across this video from PsiSyn and I was surprised it has not been posted yet. In short, a guy (ex BI) on twitter released several screenshots from a new Arma game, a scrapped DLC for Arma3 and also DayZ2. He mentioned that DayZ was in production in 2019 but was cancelled after the Bratislava studio closed down. This is pretty interesting since when the studio closed there were rumours that mentioned that further development of DayZ got scrapped. Perhaps this was actually DayZ2. The guy also mentions that no new future content is planed for DayZ, only bug fixing and finishing up stuff that is still missing. Obviously take this with a grain of salt.

Guess it should not be difficult, but with an immense backlog of things to implement with just a team of around 15 devs (Including devs that have nothing to do with bows. Map designers for example) I can imagine it taking this long. The dev team made their share of mistakes back in the days, but for the fiasco that was DayZ 1.0 and us now being two years later and we still miss things I mostly blame BI management. I think that the current team is doing a fine job with the resources they have. -
DayZ experimental is not a demo or something like that. It is an environment in which the developers can test a new patch before pushing it to the regular servers. People can join experimental to help the devs finds issues.
