    PC 1.0 Release Date Announcement

    Most people do not complain about the game itself though. I agree that the devs did some great work this year and I wholly support the fact that they focus on bug fixing now to create a stable platform for future content. However, what annoys the most people is that releasing a 1.0 is the best marketing tool available to any developer. The game will get lots of attention and will be reviewed by most game websites. Now what do you think will happen when the game releases in a pretty buggy state? Low review scores on Steam and elsewhere, new people dumping the game and returning players will be disappointed. I and most others want to game to succeed and releasing a buggy version, even though we know they will fix it eventually, will scare away lots of potential new players.

    There is a difference between a broken release or when a game releases with just some bugs. This game is just pretty buggy right now. Look what happened with Fallout 76.

    Like IMT already said, they are spawning literally right next to me. I ran into a military tent and they spawned inside that same tent with me. Same happened when I ran through the military camp. They spawned right behind me, 2 meters or so. This only happens when you have alerted the infected to your presence.

    I am sorry but what?! If I play for like 30 minutes I already encounter 5-10 bugs or balancing issues........ So you are going to tell me that all the main issues will be fixed, diseases will actually work, we can build bases without being afraid of it dissapearing all together over night, balanced temperature system etc........ Man, I hope you guys are going have a huge weekend crunch session. PS: Don't take it the wrong way, but I hope that the launch trailer will look a bit more professional. It doesn't look bad, but I would expect something more from a large studio as Bohemia.

    Some things that I just noticed: - My AKM still sounds like a silenced weapon, even with the crafted silencer ruined - Infected were spawning right next to me, out of nowhere in the military camp at the western border (pretty sure this is because of this patch) - Server (UK 0-7) crashed after 10-15 min of playing - My combat pants were ruined but looked pristine on my character - Had a infected teleport to me again - I could not see the slots for nails and planks for building a fence. Also, I had 20 planks, bunch of nails and two logs but I could not build the wall with the sledgehammer. Maybe I forgot something, but I thought I had everything. - On multiple occasions I could not move something in my backpack. This would only happen with one time. I could always move something else after encountering the stuck item. Thanks for the patch though. Hope to see some more improvement before the holidays.

    BI Needs to Postpone 1.0

    A game does not necessarily have to be feature complete to be released. Look at Arma 3 for example. Also, lets see what happens in the next week before calling it a buggy mess. With that being said, it would not surprise me that there will be quite some bugs at launch with just a few weeks to go. Personally I also don't think that the version we have now, feature and content wise, is ready for a 1.0 release. The game will be reviewed and judged and it will be it's last huge PR moment. It would be better to postpone 1.0, get some more content and features in and then release it.

    There are similar games to Dayz that don't have persistence problems or roll backs. So it should be possible and need to be achieved before 1.0

    Mmmh I think that procedural snow should be possible (if they choose to code it in) but that they are just not aiming for that. I could be wrong but that's the idea I get from the devs. Same with the map border, I think they just don't care that much about it. I myself am not bothered by it as well but if they really wanted to do something about it, they could easily create a mountain range that blocks the side of the map. Besides, to add trees at the border and some tree billboards behind it doesn't sound that difficult for an engine to do. But yeah the lightning.... I do hope some improvements can be made. Like the lighting effects of the sun when it comes up and goes down. It is pretty average right now. Indoor lightning is sadly something that probably will never see much improvement due to the old code. I still think that Dayz can look gorgeous for the most part. If they can replace some old hideous textures like on some houses, furniture, car wrecks etc. then I an a happy man.

    BI Needs to Postpone 1.0

    I completely agree with the majority in this topic. The dev team made some huge steps this year and the game got so much improvement, and I totally understand their reasoning to focus on bugfixing now instead of content. But why call it 1.0?! Even beta was already a bit premature with the lack of balancing and too much game breaking bugs. And still we saw a huge increase in players. 1.0 will do the same. It will increase the player count, has the potential to increase steam ratings, but in its current state I fear the game has too many bugs. I'm fine with Bohemia's style of game releasing, with much more content and features post 1.0, but even Arma 3 had much more stuff at release. Point is that this game will also be reviewed by all kinds of gaming websites. And I'm afraid that the review scores won't be high with the minimum amount of content and probably buggyness. I really hope that they can fix the majority of bugs though! We will see. But we really need some more patches this week, otherwise I'm afraid for the 1.0 release.

    I don't understand why the icon change was necessary, I thought most people with the feedback round were neutral/happy with them. At least put hydration and energy (food) next to each other. So far I noticed that the bacteria logo is not going down when eating raw chicken meat. Not that it matters since you get barely sick anyway at the moment. Also, when walking (not sprinting) I already have three stripes pointing down. Is this intended? Because I guess it would mean that running/jogging would have no effect anymore on the energy depletion. Happy to see horticulture back. Works fine mostly. Just misses some animations and sounds effects I assume. Placing the field can be a bit problematic as on some even ground I could not place it but on another random spot I could. EDIT: - Through horticulture I made some pumpkins and some became rotten. When I sliced the rotten pumpkin into.. well slices, it became 'raw' again. - The number icon is too large in the inventory. It is hard to see what ammo type it is. What is the status of improving server performance before 1.0? When playing in offline mode the movement of infected and animals is much more smooth then when playing online.

    Creating a fence kit from a tree was just temporary back then. Now you need to combine 3 sticks with a rope to create a fence kit and 4 sticks with a rope for a watchtower kit. If I am correct, you can re-use these building kits.

    They re-balanced the location of all the waterpumps. In some places they added pumps and in other places they got removed.

    It surely will be exciting to see how the game will look in one month time, but I keep my judgements till that very day. Am I a bit worried? Yes I am! I encounter plenty of bugs in a few hours game time and the game still needs lots of balancing. I am pretty sure we will see enough noticeable differences when the 1.0 release will happen, but will it be enough? That's where I do have my doubts, especially with new bugs coming with each patch so far. I mean this game is going to be officially reviewed soon, it will be sad to see the game getting low scores because of possibly too many bugs, lack of content and the odd urge of the devs to call it 1.0.

    If I'm correct, diseases also make you throw up which increases the need to drink. Anyhow, diseases are pretty rare as I have are all kinds of raw meat and drinked from every pond and even disinfectant. Never got sick. There is some balancing coming in the upcoming weeks, according to the devs Hopefully it happens much more often and also that some diseases become even deadly.
  20. Played with a car a bit in the modded offline mode. One thing that is for sure is that you have much more control over the driving and no slippery moments when going above 50. Big improvement

    Maybe the removal of some water pumps is intended? I would not be against to remove some actually. There quite a lot around, especially when you know where to find them. On another note: I know it is game development, but it is pretty annoying to see new bugs every patch, especially with December coming closer and closer. Because, I do really hope we get a nice stable 1.0 release.

    Some more feedback after playing this Sunday morning: Infected sometimes do not aggro on some moments when I am right infront of them I could not light a fireplace in the woods with matches. It was not raining and the fireplace had sticks as fuel and rags as kindling The ghost mode of placing an item (such as the fireplace) is almost invisible during the night

    I found the effect to be pretty minimal at the moment. Was sprinting through the rain and never saw any yellow icon popping up. Sure it depends on what you do as well, as I was moving from town to town and was looting all the time. Maybe I would agree with you when I'm building a base deep in the forest, dunno haven't done that. But as a solo player, going from town to town, it was just too easy. I don't say it has to be the same as the earlier 0.63 versions but a good balance has to be found, especially when diseases and temperature actually start to work properly. Nevertheless, currently these features barley affected my character, resulting in me having a ton load of food and drinks

    Having played some on and off this Saturday after following the development closely each week and all the bunch of patches that arrived. Usually I play a bit, but this Saturday I finally found some time for some hourly long sessions. In short I see the progess in making the game less buggy but there are still lots of things to fix, pretty crucial ones as well. Two times my hands were bugged and thus could not put anything in my hands anymore. No idea what created this problem Sometimes during a melee fight with the infected, the infected will go through my body It is annoying when the infected make a hit sound each time that I hit them with my fists, knife or any other fast attack Little bit too much food/drinks around now. It used to be better but with beta there is simply too much. Within a short time my backpack was loaded with food The aggro tweaks to the infected are great but now it seems that their pathfinding took two steps back. They have a lot of problems reaching me and I can easily lose them. Plus they just seem to stop most of the times and then continue to chase me after standing still for a couple of seconds The damage output of infected got nerfed as well. Why? They finally were actually dangerous! Now I can take a load of hits before I even get the small limp animation From all the time bleeding to no bleeding from infected attacks? Just give it a certain percentage like 40% to get a bleed infect when hit Love the dark nights but they are simply too long on Stable servers. Even on Experimental you are pushing it. A server I played on today went from high to low pop when it became dark. Now I do not think that nerfing the darkness is the solution, instead you should make the nights shorter. 30min would be a sweetspot The footstep sounds of goats were not matching their actual movements When I was playing with a friend, I could barely hear his gun shots outside the house I was in There are probably some more that I forgot right now. Hope to see the crucial bugs fixed as well as improving/fixing important aspects of the game such as the infected. I also hope to see some balancing coming as well in the upcoming weeks, as December is coming near and thus 1.0. Currently temperature and diseases, two important survival elements, are worthless. I really hope to see those two features make a real impact on the game again soon.
