I'm kinda happy that the new map will be 163km2, it creates more player interaction and exciting moments. Chernarus can sometimes feel pretty lonely, especially on servers with a pop limit of 50/60 (Chernarus needs minimum 80 to 100 players imo). Also with Namalsk coming and it being a 53km2 map, there will be different sizes for all 🙂

Didn't even think about that yet, but this surely might indicate that an experimental release is on the horizon. If Dayz follows the same system of A3, we should be able to play the dlc on the experimental branch, if it is purchased. Considering the 13 November release date (i know it is not yet 100%) is pretty much a hard deadline, they probably release experimental early to find bugs ASAP. So halfway October experimental release?

Simply the idea of being able to experience DayZ on a new map makes me kinda excited. I already have Livonia on A3 but I haven't played it that much that I consider myself experienced with the roads in this fictional Baltic state. I'm wondering about the price like so many others though. € 10 or maximum € 15 will be decent. But it also depends on how much work went into the map in comparison with the A3 version. Having the A3 Livonia in the back if my mind, it needs to have an decent overhaul to match the more apocalyptic style and also the forests felt more A3'ish than DayZ. Because it will be kinda shady to sell a map with barely any changes for a second time. Anyway we will see. What I mostly wonder about is what will accompany this dlc release in the terms of features and content. Knowing the style BI has with dlc for A3, I'm very confident that we pay for the map and get the content and features in Chernarus as well. I do sincerely hope that whatever improvements to interiors, ivy growth, ruined buildings and other assets will find its way to the Chernarus map as well. It will be a pity if Chernarus would be lacking in quality in comparison with the new Livonia. I can understand that some might feel like not purchasing it though. The 1.0 release was ridiculous and now almost one year later we still do not have a full functional game cycle with flying cars and unbalanced base building. But this is more of a problem on calling it a 'finished game' than development progress, as progress is coming around nicely in general. Anyhow, people can make up their own choice if they want the DLC or not. I for one will probably be buying it.

Seriously, why are people thinking it is Livonia. This is not just directed towards you OP, I see people everywhere that think it is Livonia without giving any solid arguments on why it is the case. If it is indeed Livonia, I would be very surprised.... and dissapointed. -
The map is desgined by different people than those fixing duping and whatever. As a PC player myself I can't wait to see where this new map will take place and what kind of new things this will bring (objects, assets) that might also be used in Chernarus.

My suggestion would be to make the red phase and red blinking phase of blood loss to take significantly longer. With blinking red being the phase where the player is unconscious.

Huh? They have supported each Arma game till its successor was released. Arma 3 has been already released since 2013 and still receives patches till this very day.

Patches have been coming on a decent and steady pace during 2019. Sure development used to be slower, but without any context that always seems bad while there are enough reasons to justify it to a certain extent

Don't know if he is an actual dev or just the admin. Nevertheless, he works with the dev team and thus knows if something is intended or not.

Look I am just talking about the official servers/vanilla community servers. So I cannot say anything about Xml files on your private server. In some cases it does correspond to reality. Why should police gear not spawn in the garage of the police station? Sure the houses next to the hospital might be a bit more far fetched, but perhaps thats where the medical personnel lived. The wire mesh barrier always used to spawn in industrial buildings. Nevertheless, the spawning of certain loot in different building is intended. In other words, garages at military bases offer military loot now as well. Garages near a police station contain police gear. Medical items spawn in buildings next to the hospital.

Somewhere I do agree, but I do think that the current situation is better than it was before. I tested around a bit and found it pretty difficult to even get 4 cuts. Infected usually just give one and by running around bare feet I got two more cuts. Admittedly, you do lose blood pretty fast and do need to bandage quick when having three bleed effects on your character, but I still had some spare time before my blood level would hit red. I do like the second suggestion with keeping the same blood-loss rate but expanding on medical items. Nevertheless, I can't say it is that OP as you can obtain rags with ease and usually stop a first bleeding effect the moment it happens. Maybe this will change when rags have a chance on giving an infected wound (If I am right this will be the difference between rags and bandages eventually) and you need a bandage or alcohol on rags for safe bandaging. And as I mentioned before, It is an achievement to get more than two bleed effects, so I can't see it being a problem most of the times. If I might add another suggestion. Perhaps increase the amount of blood for the red status state so a player would not fall unconscious as fast but the keep the blood-loss rate of the current earlier stages. This way players would still experience a black and white screen and no health regeneration by not bandaging soon after multiple cuts.

Adam the map designer mentioned in one of his personal DayZ streams that plant growth on buildings is still on the table, he was currently prototyping it. Also, on his Twitter he talked with some players about things he wished to change/add to the current interiors of structures. Can be an interesting read if you like. I really like Chernarus and I am pretty interested to see what he can do more with the map, Namalsk and the new terrain as well (if he makes the new terrain that is).

My idea is that the new map comes with new assets, props, models that will find its way to the Chernarus+ terrain as well. Replacing the old ugly stuff with fresh new models, maybe new structures or existing structures that received some attention (plant growth, new furniture models, more dirtier look). This way all DayZ players receive a 'platform update', as they call it with Arma, and also include an optional map for those willing to buy it. Just my theory.

Probably the conflict that happened in Arma 2. Timeline wise DayZ happens somewhere after that Arma story.

Is this current solution not a decent middle ground? I'm surprised that people who dislike the current method are rather in favor of private hives on public. I mean the current solution pushes players to remain on their server, but does give the possibility, if needed, to change server. Perfect middle ground for the private/public hives debate and solves a lot of issues as ThePugMan mentioned. I don't know which games you played previously, but I really can't see that much of a problem with it. I used to play Miscreated a lot with a friend of my. If a server was full you had to spam the join button to get in, no queue feature. But we also had no problem in joining a different server and continue on a different toon.

Odd, never read or heard anyone about this till now. Pretty sure that in 1.03 or earlier I ate raw meat without getting sick. Out or curiosity I will test it in offline mode.

Well it was put on resolved only on the 29th of July, so we can only know if it is actually fixed when it is actually deployed within a patch. I know it does not say 1.05 but from past experiences, when something is fixed it usually is part of the next patch, even though it says ''in the future''. Anyhow, just passing the message. 😉 -

I use the Assault boots too on my current character that is traversing the central land of south Zagoria. So mostly grass and woodland terrain, with some concrete here and there. The amount of kilometers that I traversed is easily similar to crossing the entire map. Currently my boots are worn.
