Honestly, I think the temperature system that got introduced with 1.10 is kinda bugged from time to times. I had multiple moments (especially on Namalsk) where it seems that I did not get have the right temperature indication. A week ago, for example, my friend was all white while I was balancing between dark blue and light blue. He did not have any better gear or what.

Could you tell me how? I just jumped into offline mode but with no luck in adding marks on the map. -
Experimental Update 1.11 (Changelog)

I vaguely can remember that there was this Status Report back in 2018 that mentioned different maps (civilian, military etc.) being added to the game and that you could put marks on that. Wondering what ever happened to that plan... -
Yesterday I came across this video from PsiSyn and I was surprised it has not been posted yet. In short, a guy (ex BI) on twitter released several screenshots from a new Arma game, a scrapped DLC for Arma3 and also DayZ2. He mentioned that DayZ was in production in 2019 but was cancelled after the Bratislava studio closed down. This is pretty interesting since when the studio closed there were rumours that mentioned that further development of DayZ got scrapped. Perhaps this was actually DayZ2. The guy also mentions that no new future content is planed for DayZ, only bug fixing and finishing up stuff that is still missing. Obviously take this with a grain of salt.

Experimental Update 1.11 (Changelog)
amadieus replied to Tom_48_97's topic in PC Experimental Updates
Guess it should not be difficult, but with an immense backlog of things to implement with just a team of around 15 devs (Including devs that have nothing to do with bows. Map designers for example) I can imagine it taking this long. The dev team made their share of mistakes back in the days, but for the fiasco that was DayZ 1.0 and us now being two years later and we still miss things I mostly blame BI management. I think that the current team is doing a fine job with the resources they have. -
DayZ experimental is not a demo or something like that. It is an environment in which the developers can test a new patch before pushing it to the regular servers. People can join experimental to help the devs finds issues.

As if placing some new assets on a map will make any difference towards fixing the game -
I can has DayZ Roadmap 2021 for Birthday!?!

Last year it came on the 31st of January, with 1.07 patch already on experimental. I would not be surprised if we have a similar situation this year -
I would like the Mediterranean as well. Would even be down for US countryside. Anyhow, as some mentioned already they do not want to build hundreds of assets. So if there would be a new map coming up it will make use of assets from BI games. So Mediterranean or Middle-East would be a possibility. Nonetheless, would they really add another map that cost money? I don't think they will.

Honestly I would not like this one bit. It is one of the turn-offs that I got with Scum. That pvp is being affected by a character skill progression. I love character skill progression and I think DayZ should do much more with it, but not when it gives one player a significant advantage in pvp. I mean, I could live with a faster bandaging or so but not that player 1 sees an other player hiding while player 2 cannot see him due to lower skill.

Does the Dayz mod for Arma3 have broken bones, diseases and a similar cooking system? Just asking as I do not know for 100%, but I thought that it did not and that it was way simpler than SA.
-
in my experience this happens on certain servers. I have played on 60-80 pop servers with no problems, but for some reason Therunningmanz servers always have infected that are stuck and that do not aggro properly.

I think that the parts of DayZ that already run on Enfusion have a good chance of being improved due to further development on the Enfusion Engine. I cannot remember entirely which parts of DayZ run on Enfusion, but it surely are the player controller and physics. Perhaps the network part is Enfusion too. So I would not be surprised that we see further improvements for physics and network stability. Stuff related to the map/world is still RV though. That's why I do not expect huge improvements on lighting and other kind of flashy graphical improvements. I do however, hope for further texture improvements as we have seen in 2020. Furniture in houses really need a texture upgrade. I also thought about DayZ mod for Arma4. When Arma4 will be steps ahead of DayZ in terms of graphics, physics, AI, etc... then I do see a lot of people moving towards the mod again. Problem is that the mod will no way be close to the features of DayZ SA. So it either will be a way better looking game or way better fleshed out features. So I do think that there will be still room for DayZ SA. And the rumours had mentioned that Arma4 is still years away. But again, they are rumours.

It is way better than what we used to have though. Melee combat was atrocious in 0.62 and before. Agree with the dying animations though... We need ragdolls. It would add so much more immersion to a game such as DayZ.
-
Good point, I already forgot about that DLC. But it does show some similarities with the screenshots shown in the video. There was supposed to be an announcement on a new game running on Enfusion somewhere at the end of 2020. Obviously that did not happen, but it is safe to say that this likely will happen this year. So still curious to see what that will be. Perhaps some parts of those rumours will be true. Yeah I do think that further development of Enfusion will be beneficial to DayZ, but only for the things that are running on Enfusion already. I do not expect new shaders or lightning effects to happen on DayZ. That means converting parts of the game that are RV to Enfusion. That would probably be too much for the small dev team. But yeah we will see, I do not expect DayZ 2 to be happening anytime soon. So I was kinda surprised to see rumours that it was supposed to be in development for a short while.

You misunderstood me. Of course I know that technology wise it should be possible to build a concrete and brick building in a game that takes place in the 21st century. However, game-wise it would look misplaced. For example, you walk through the dense woods and then suddenly stumble on some sort of thick concrete Fort Knox. It looks fake and gamey. So I rather opt for fake overpowered wooden walls that do fit the world instead of random brick houses everywhere in the world like Rust.
-
While difficult to break wooden walls would not be realistic, it is the best way to go in my opinion. I'm afraid that adding materials such as concrete or bricks would look too misplaced in the world of Dayz. As far as I know nobody wants impregnable bases, but even after the changes in 108 bases are still too easy to break in.
-
Back in 1.09 I had a base that got raided two times in five days. A few walls were destroyed, so they didn't climb it or anything. Not sure what tools they used, I think guns or melee, but if base raiding is difficult and time consuming it surely wouldn't be raided twice in five days.

I'm pretty sure that the Enfusion Engine will support it, any modern engine does. Point is that the Chernarus map is still on the RV Engine, and the devs will never undertake all the work of converting it to Enfusion. What is interesting though, are the underground areas/tunnels of Namalsk. When you enter those the game becomes darker immediately. Sure it is not the best option, as when you step over a invisible border the game just turns darker. Still I think this is worthwhile exploring for buildings in Chernarus and Livonia. Even if the difference is only subtle. I think a subtle darker interior already adds massively to the ambiance and looks. It even masks the outdated furniture textures more (still should be replaced by higher res though).
-
Agree, but I'm very happy that the devs put work in updating textures of a various items! I hope they continue doing this in 2021 for things such as the furniture in buildings and some outdated industrial buildings.

Happened to me as well. Stepped on a fireplace by accident. Directly stepped away, but still got killed while being meters away.

Walked around and saw this guy bleeding. He ignored my comments about bandaging up and came in my personal space. I smacked him with a heavy attack and a few light attacks. Then we got into an exchange of fits fighting. Suprsingly he won this, even though we smacked each other at the same time. How is this possible? I was sure I was hitting him. Maybe I wasn't actually hitting him? In that case fix this shit and show some proper feedback when giving out punches.
