Both Xbox and PS4 run on the 1.02 version.

Don't count on it. They are testing 80 players on pc now. Maybe they will push it to 100 in the long run, but this depends a lot on the server performance and how it will handle future features as well such as ragdoll, helicopters etc.

Ignoring the console specific issues, yes the game simply becomes better with each patch. They fixed numerous of bugs. For example these biggies: infected glitching through player and tents/barrels being almost impossible to place... Then again, I almost never come across game breaking bugs or even simple bugs during my usual gameplay loop. Are there still lots of issues, sure. With cars and basebuilding for example. Infected could use some work etc... Yes it took BI 5 years because they worked on a new engine... Was it a good choice to do that mid-development? No. Was it good for the game's potential? Yes.

To just throw in my two cents. Yes the game is unfinished and you will face issues when playing the game. Not sure what you mean with going downhill (game is only getting better and better). Besides, I don't know any game similar to DayZ that will be coming anytime soon to the consoles. If you don't like live-action and prefer a gameplay trailer, then watch the Xbox launch trailer. It is the same game anyway. It also shows you did not do much searching if you think that making a live-action trailer is probably a reason for being a bad game while there are enough gameplay vids out there. It is expensive though, I will give you that. In doubt, wait for a sale. Perhaps a Christmas sale at the end of 2019. The game will definitely be in a much better shape then anyway.

For a PC player the stream was pretty disappointing. Was hoping to hear a bit on the general development and what to generally expect in the next 1.04 patch. The live action trailer was cool though, really liked that one.

On the 23th of May BI revealed the latest expansion for Arma 3, coming with an all new terrain which supposedly is located somewhere in Eastern-Europe. On the dev-branch of Arma 3 people can already check-out the new map and its assets. On streams I already noticed the similarity to DayZ and the re-use of a lot of DayZ assets. So I became curious and dived into the map myself. As mentioned earlier, the map used a lot of DayZ assets. However, I found some new or even re-worked assets, which I hope would make their way to DayZ. For example DayZ has some pretty ugly looking props here and there from the old Arma 2 age. One such prop is the garbage bin: DayZ: https://imgshare.io/image/gbbin.w54P6 A3: https://imgshare.io/image/binnew.w5Buc The difference in quality is pretty big as can be seen on both screenshots. Another thing that I noticed fairly quick were the interiors of houses. The map has the same houses as DayZ with the same model quality, available rooms etc. The difference is in the lightning though. The houses used in the Arma 3 map are significantly darker than the bright DayZ interiors. The bright interiors were always killer for immersion and using the more darker interiors as seen in the Arma 3 map would definitely help. DayZ: https://imgshare.io/image/housedayz.w5zrZ A3: https://imgshare.io/image/housea3.wC6i4 The last thing that I wanted to mention were the pretty ruined house assets that (I think) are freshly made. DayZ has a few locations that make use of ruined structures, but those ruined structures are mostly some walls being left over from an house. The ruined town of Kumyrna is an example: https://dayz.gamepedia.com/File:Kumyrna_8b.jpg See the new A3 ruined houses in the link below: A3: https://imgshare.io/image/hh.wC2x9 Kumyrna could especially make very good use of these new assets. But adding these destroyed houses to regular towns, would be nice for the sake of diversity. The A3 map offers some other nice elements such as fields full of wheat and corn, something that could fit nicely in the agricultural areas of ChernarusPlus. Anyway, there is a video that goes around the map and also shows smaller props that have been added with this new expansion: DayZ currently still has quite some old models that could use some better textures such as the garbage bin and the house interior lightning definitely has to get darker. Will the DayZ devs use these, and more, new/re-worked assets/models for ChernarusPlus? @ImpulZ

Odd that this was not found/happening on the experimental servers...
-
Agree, it is too noisy. Maybe keep it noisy when it is in your hands, but not when you strap it on your backpack.

Agreed. I wholeheartedly understand that complex survival mechanics, more stable servers and a whole bunch of things are more important. However, I think that world design/graphics are of great importance for immersion. Adam, the map designer of the DayZ dev-team, did an outstanding job so far. But I simply can't ignore the ugly low-res props/assets that are still there since the days of the mod. And I really do hope that we can still expect some nice additions to the world DayZ in terms of world design and graphics. To just sum up a few: - More various props around the world. Now you find a lot of similar stuff everywhere (such as the same furniture in each house) - More detailed props that replace the old ones (such as the garbage bin) - Replace some old buildings/shacks (Especially those small sheds and farm buildings) - Open up more rooms in larger houses (DayZ lacks indoor pvp. You got some buildings that offer that, but those are only in larger settlements. The two floor houses could open so much more indoor pvp in small towns as well) - Indoor lightning must become darker during the day

Not sure if I really would want to hear his voice after I just got backstabbed...

Speculation on the upcoming ''survival focused'' patch.
amadieus replied to repzaj1234's topic in General Discussion
If they add fishing, more complex diseases and bone fracture, then I will be satisfied for a while. Needs to come with some CLE tweaking, too much ammo and food to be found right now. -
Yes, and it is fixed on experimental

Yep, happened to me pretty often during 1.02 and the patches before.

Anyone knows why I can't see the icons/stamina bar etc.? I can see them when in inventory. Tried using the ` button but it does not seem to work anymore. It only toggles the quickslots. EDIT: Pity nobody explained it me before I re-installed the game twice, but it seems that the show icon, or rather show hud option, has moved to the general game settings instead of holding `.

Thanks for communicating this to the community. Like others have mentioned, it is nice to hear what we generally can expect with the next one or two platform updates. So if you still could see a chance to communicate from time to time what we can generally expect in the next patch, then that would be great. Like many others I can't wait for more survival elements (or in other words, current survival elements to be much more fleshed out) and features such as fishing and vaulting. To get a general idea on when to expect it, would be very pleasant.

Experimental Update 1.03.151487
amadieus replied to Baty Alquawen's topic in PC Experimental Updates
Indeed, thanks to the change in this patch melee works better again. Still I do not like the forward movement and it should be toned down or just removed in my opinion. Noticed that I could not auto attack anymore, by holding the attack button. Not that I care though, was pretty neutral about it. -
Great to hear, but this was on high/full pop server?

On a first glance, fine update with some very neat additions. A new car, weapon and other items are always welcome! Some other good changes and additions, such beings able to add the radio and glowsticks to your backpack, more sound effects, inventory rotation, character stats etc.... However, looking a tad longer at these patch notes I simply cannot hide my dissapointment. First off, the new melee is pretty bad... Because of the forward movement when swinging (Why is this forward movement still in? Please remove it!), and because of the new target lock system. It locks my character on the targets location, but as soon as the target goes to my right or left (because of the stupid forward movement) my character stays locked in melee towards the same spot that the infected was at earlier... How is this good? Is it a bug or intended? I am sorry, but I simply can't see any gains with this target lock system. I would advise to remove together with the forward movement, that would improve melee by a ton. Secondly, where is the server performance improvements or any improvements regarding car stability? Granted, I have not been driving in a car on a 60 man server during this experimental patch. However, I got a huge feeling that a car is going to kill me sooner or later. So it is cool to have three different cars by now, but what is the point if we can't drive it? Moreover, where are the new features? We are almost in June, so on a half in 2019. And still no single feature has been added. Not even features that were in development since 2018 such as fishing and vaulting/climbing. I understand that helicopters take time, but where the heck are those features that were supposed to come in 2018? I sincerely hope that something will be added in the upcoming 1.03 experimentel patches of this month before it hits stable. Same goes for survival features... I sincerely hope that we will see some changes in experimental this month before 1.03 hits stable. We need diseases for eating raw meat, we need more complex diseases for drinking pond water, we need bone fractures and a temperature system that actually influences the game instead of 'just being there'. Like I said, on first glance the patch is fine as it clearly makes the game better. But there is still so much stuff missing that really should be coming around this time. The first half of 2019 is almost over... Please do not tell me that the content of this patch is everything that we can expect for 1.03 stable, or at least that some big additions to the game are coming soon after 1.03....

RP stands for Role-playing.

With the shovel you can make a field for horticulture. That's probably what you mean with 'position placement'. You can bury a Drybag, Cooking pot, protector case and probably a lot more items that hold loot. You drop it on the ground and aim at it with the shovel. Then use the action that appears.

Go to the woods in the north-western part of the map 😉 Bears will be added in the future.
-
Never said that the game was 'so good'. It simply has more players than it had before, making the statement of the other guy simply untrue. If the player count drops steady again in a few months, fair enough. But that's currently not the case. Not sure if using the 'game sold 4 million copies' argument really holds up. So many games sold large amount of copies while having a much smaller playerbase in comparison. Of course modding contributes to a larger playerbase. But modding is available thanks to the developers. Both parties deserve credits for that.

Have xbox edition but thinking of swapping onto PC

- Better performance - Private servers (for now) - Mods You can customize your character model and clothing. However it is not finished yet. You will have to re-select your character in the main menu after death. If you don't, you get a random upon respawning.
