I just experienced the nights for some time. When I have a flare or a torch and am attacked by infected, it is really atmospheric. Though the nights really are too dark. They should be very dark on a cloudy or stormy night, but on clear nights there should be some degree of visibility to be realistic. Another thing, I wasn't able to light my torch with matches. I had to light a fire first and then light the torch using the fire. Am I missing something or is this not implemented currently?

The lowest ping full pop server I could find was around 90 ping. But the issue doesn't happen on low pop servers that have the same ping (90 - 140)

I spawned on the coast and my FPS was terrible despite a decent PC. I met a couple fresh spawns and learn that its a bug. One of them acts friendly then tries to kill me. I almost died due to the stun-lock despite him having a stick and me have a sledgehammer and a helmet. Eventually I kill him and eat to recover my health. An hour later the FPS issue is fixed. Then I explore and move North-West. I get to a city and notice the infected are moving in slow motion and stuttering heavily. I can outrun them by simply jogging away from them. It turns to night and the game is pitch black even on a clear night. Infected start attacking me and I manage to kill them despite being unable to see. A player hears me and approaches with a pistol and head torch, he kills the last infected. We part ways and I watch his headlight move through the city at night. Next, I get to some barracks and find an automatic weapon with ammunition and some military gear. I find more food and cook it with a fire. I move further north and hear wolves howling, however, they attack an infected some distance away from me instead. Both the wolves and the infected are moving in slow motion and stuttering, and glitching over a fence. I move in the opposite direction since they were still fighting each other after 5-10 minutes of spectating. I kill some more slow-motion infected with my axe and find a well where I fill up my water bottles. Then I see a vehicle, it is Lada 4x4 missing some wheels. I decide to get inside to see if the engine will start. Before I can do anything the car starts bouncing around uncontrollably and eventually launches 150 feet into the air while wildly spinning around in circles. At this point I knew it was over and wished goodbye to Chernarus. My car landed and I died on impact. The environment finally got the best of me: death by flying car.

My first life in DayZ 1.0, death by flying car

Another player made a video that depicts how I died perfectly. Just imagine I'm in the car... -
This is how I died...I never could have suspected how dangerous the environment really was.

Its happening for me on any full pop server I join. I've probably tried nearly 10 by now.

DAYZ BE 5137116 (Public) - Hosted by Multiplay.com The issue happens on this one.

I forget but I can find a new one. I just joined a low pop server with 130 ping, and the infected work normally.
-
I joined one as well and the problem persists. Persistence...
-
The servers I joined ranged from 90 - 130 ping. Most of the full servers have over 100 ping for me.
-
Dunno, they were smooth and fast on a low pop official server I joined.

Official, v1.0, 60 players

Here is what I mean by "slow-motion" and "stuttering" zombies: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/348933652

There are cars...but I died getting in one because it shot 150 feet into the air and I died on impact.

My first life in DayZ 1.0, death by flying car

Well, the wolves wouldn't have been a threat since they were moving in slow-motion. But I have confirmed this is some network issue with full pop servers. On low pop servers the infected (and presumably wolves too) work normally. Hopefully these issues get fixed soon as I am enjoying the overall atmosphere and experience on 1.0. But these bugs are game-breaking. -
I can confirm that the infected work normally when I join a low pop server. And they are quite threatening in swarms especially as a fresh spawn. So hopefully they fix this issue soon.
-
Yeah I have yet to see how dangerous they are when functioning correctly. Based on YouTube videos they seem pretty quick.
-
You're probably right, as I was joining full 60 player official servers. I encountered wolves later and they were moving slow-motion as well. I can escape the infected by simply jogging away. And fun fact, I just died for the first time when I got in a Lada 4x4. It started bouncing around uncontrollably and launched 150 feet into the air while spinning wildly. I died on impact... I believe this game has much potential but these game-breaking bugs need fixing. The game needs much more content so it doesn't feel like a walking simulator, and I would like a higher player count like 75-100 because I can travel for hours and never see another player. I wouldn't mind this if the environment was challenging, but it was boringly easy to survive on my own and I ended up dying to a bug after investing about 3 hours acquiring gear. I think infected should be significantly dangerous.

Are diseases in 1.0? Which ones? Can river water make you sick?
-
For me at first they seemed not to detect me unless I got really close in front. Then they were able to detect me from farther away, except when they aggro they would move very slowly. Like 1/3 the speed I see in YouTube videos, and their movement was very jittery instead of smooth.

There was a bug that has been fixed. Restart steam

Is there an official content/feature list for 1.0 release?
Survivor1431 posted a topic in General Discussion
Hello, I have briefly followed development over the last couple years but am looking forward to spending some more time experiencing the new 1.0 release and what it has to offer. The thing is I don't want to waste time in-game trying to find items or use features that have been excluded, since I understand that there is a backlog of features and content due to the technology changes. Is there a complete list of the features/content that will be released with the 1.0 update (as well as those features and content that are postponed)? A link to this would be much appreciated. Note: The most recent list I have found is the one below, but this was posted a month ago. I am looking for something more recent and/or official if available. Thanks! -
Is there an official content/feature list for 1.0 release?

Sounds good. What about cooking and growing food? -
I get your frustration, but the developers plan on continuing development for several years after 1.0, so I think the game will slowly come to life. Whether calling it 1.0 at this time is a good move is another issue. I thought the game would be in 'Beta' for quite some time, not just a month. But most likely the developers will add in content and features they have backlogged from the legacy version and it will continue to improve. They wouldn't invest 5 years into the game and completely revamping the engine to simply drop all development once it hits full release.

Hi, I'm having stuttering when I play Dayz in 0.62. My FPS is 90 - 120 in forests and 40 - 90 in cities. My CPU and GPU temps were below 60 degrees and neither were bottle-necking (usage often below 70 percent). Everything will be quite smooth but then as I approach a city I'll get a random 20 - 40 frame drop and the game will pause for half a second before becoming smooth again. Rarely my FPS drops to 20 or so but usually it is a playable frame-rate, which is why I don't understand what's causing this. In cities this stuttering happens every few seconds and makes it rather unplayable. I feel like I should at least have a playable game (no stuttering) on low video settings given my PC specs. On low video settings my average FPS is higher but the stuttering issue remains. Is this the result of a poor engine with bad optimization, or is there a solution?
