For those complaining about the development time of DayZ
Guy Smiley replied to Guy Smiley's topic in General Discussion
What's the difference between getting to see the growth of the game they are working on(early access) or just reading about the game they are working on(not an early access)? Absolutely nothing. Would you guys still be complaining if DayZ never entered early access at all? -

Let me be perfectly clear. This thread is about development time and not early access, absolutely nothing. I don't care if it's early access alpha, regular alpha, or not even a released game. This thread was to point out basic facts that game companies don't shit out games on a daily basis. Companies that re-hash their same old generic games every year, BF, CoD, NHL, NFL, NBA are using pre-existing assets with a few tweaks here and there. Other companies buy the licenses to game engines such as Unreal, Cryengine, Frostbite and Unity which makes it easier to develop with. Other companies who design their games from the ground up usual take multiple years to create. I will reiterate that DayZ is on par for standard game development. -

My OP isn't about the "early access". You're the one who brought up that argument and i'm telling you it doesn't fucking matter. It's about the fact that the game is on course for regular development. Get that through your head -

Congratulations on wasting your life playing a video. Want a cookie for it? Again, that last post of mine was to show how stupid yourself and anyone who keeps bitching and moaning about the game and it's development because it told you not to "buy" it unless you want to actively support it's development. Plain and fucking simple. Throwing your arms in the air and screaming about how much the developers suck because it's been in alpha for 4+ years is not supporting them and again, they are right on track as far as it comes to game development. -

WARNING: THIS GAME IS EARLY ACCESS ALPHA. PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO ACTIVELY SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT OF THE GAME AND ARE PREPARED TO HANDLE WITH SERIOUS ISSUES AND POSSIBLE INTERRUPTIONS OF GAME The only stupid people are the ones who don't know how to read -
They're not DayZ fans

Instead, companies sell you a game on pre-order for $60-$80 plus another $60 season pass which means you're paying for a game that you don't even get to play for up to a month lol. Or companies release a game which they call "full version" for $60-$80 and their a buggy mess beta. So, yes the bitching and moaning is extremely childish and unwarranted when you have zero knowledge of game development. So the fact that this "project" has been on going for almost 4 years and is in the process of going into beta soon shows that they are right on track with normal development times. -

Uh, you do realize that those games had an alpha stage at one point, right? SMH -

Explain how it's a stupid topic? Is it because you can't fathom the fact that game development doesn't happen overnight and actually can take multiple years? -
Just fired up the game recently to hear this loud wind, nothing out of the ordinary. When the wind picked up, it blew and was loud, when it wasn't too windy, I could barely hear it blowing.

Because games don't get created in a few days. Can you not comprehend that? Also, this is not a game, it's a development project which we were advised not to buy if we're not capable of handling the development and bugs that come with it. -

I see a lot not being able comprehend the difference between an "early access" titles compared to games where most of us never even see the alpha stage. What we've got from DayZ's early access is seeing the creation of the game at it's basic level and actually getting to see it develop and change as the game gets created. Most companies you would need to fill out an application at the very least to even gain access to alpha testing and most of those are usually nearing the end of the alpha moving forward into the beta stage. -
While we're at it, let's get rid of the cold, night, rain, infected, diseases, broken limbs, having to loot, having to eat, drink, anything that's not fun and just give us a smaller map with starting gear....... SMH

How would this work in third person?

My plea regarding modding and the release of server files
Guy Smiley replied to billyangstadt's topic in General Discussion
There's a huge difference between modding a game that adds to the main core of it than modding a game that detracts from the core of it. If you look back at the mods for DayZ mod, the majority of them detracted from what the core gameplay was about and turned it into a generic run of the mill shooter. -
But if you can't find those items within the first 5 minutes the game sucks and I may as well log off (sarcasm)

Well the sad truth is, it's going to happen whether you like it or not. While the small group of us will play on dead servers that will test our survival skills, the rest will be CoD'ing it up on, as you put, 24/7day servers, starting gear and vehicles galore. Who cares, they will get bored of it and move on to the next big twitch game. -
Hey Broski, guess what? Rust and 7 Days to Die are still in Alpha and they came out around the exact same time as DayZ so quit crying like a little kid and bugger off until the game is done.
-
No it can't. I believe the whole reason we're not seeing anything is because the new engine(enfusion) is not compatible with the old engine. They've basically stopped working on this version of DayZ and have been hard at work on the Beta version.
-
There's not much left for them to patch on this build while they are busy working on the the new game.
-
Lol, I've been following these forums since DayZ mod, played DayZ mod and purchased DayZ Dec 16, 2013 so to even attempt to talk down to to me and try to make me seem like a noob is a futile attempt lol
-
So you're basically saying that DayZ is real Life? That when it gets dark in DayZ you're gonna go to bed? When it starts raining you'll go to bed? Dude, it's a game and the focus on the game is the challenges that come with the "game". So are you going to log off every time the game gets too hard for you? Oh, sun is going down, better log off. It's raining, better log off. Do you realize what you've been saying lol?
-
The same people who don't like the rain also don't like the night time or any of the survival elements of DayZ. These are also the same people who bought DayZ under the assumption is was just another run of the mill shooter and are the same people who want mods that give starting gear and spawn points.

Years ago??? Lmfao, you really haven't a clue. Just stop, you're making yourself look pretty stupid
-
Have you bothered to read any of the devblogs? Do you even know that they've stopped working on this version of the project and are recreating a new engine? Do you just spew drivel without any knowledge of what your are spewing?
