That sould be the purpose of the protector case but not of the other containers.. The drybag shouldn't be bulletproof neither the first aid kit or the pot. I know u can store item in pots while carrying water in them but i dont think it's a feature made on purpose

I agree with you, but that's not what you wrote you wrote "make the containers useful again" which they are.

I'm talking about first aid kit, ammunition box, dry bag, protector case.

I'd like to see then as they were before 0.57 update Ex: The fist aid kit now can carry 4 slots and it take 4 slot in the backpack so there is no benfit in carrying it, is just annoying to take it to hands and look what's inside.

Before 0.57 the first aid kit can carry 6 slot of medical stuff but it takes only 4 slots in the backpack because it organize well the stuff in the sapce the same could be with the ammo box it takes 8 slots and provides 12 slots for ammos.

Drybag already serve the purpose of keeping dry what's inside so it can take the same space it offer.

    What you guys think?

I see what you're getting at here but there's one major thing you forget... The containers work as "protective cases" and they're extremely good at it. I usually have my first aid kit with medical supplies and then a cooking pot for spare mags/ammo and another cooking pot for my pistol to take out zombies. + I now have 4 liters of water on me to drink from. :) Containers are by far useless mate. They save stuff from being ruined. So if you have an MP5K perhaps, put it to your hotbar and place the MP5 in the bag. Then the MP5 won't be ruined if you get shot and ruins the container. :)

EDIT: When i write "bag" I mean the 12 slot waterproof bags that you can find in a variety of colors.. :)

How long has this game been in development? And you take cars etc out?  You are taking away what made dayz great to begin with with each and every update.

People will pull the alpha card but no, we paid for this. Sort it out at an acceptable rate for christ sake.

Can you tell me why it's not acceptable to pull the alpha card? Do you think 3 years and 1 month of development time on a big game is enough? Simply put; it's not! And the devs are not only making a game, they're also creating a new game-engine for the game at the same time. YOU... My friend.... Is the the one that have misread/not understood the statement on the store page when you sat down and wanted to buy the game. YOU are the one that has misunderstood the term "Early Access". Now sit down.

  4. I like the idea you're having here, I really do. But I think there's one major downside to this very thing and it's map size. I mean Chernarus+ is huge don't get me wrong but with 60+ (and they're planning on having even more than 60 players on servers) the servers will quickly become crowded with random houses being boarded up and players starting work on a house but never finishes it etc. I think the map simply isn't large enough for this unfortunately.

Basically, the ability to "sprint" while crawling.

Which would have the same amount of noise generation as crouch running, lessening its value in sneaking past infected, but would be of great benefit in a fight with a player/being pinned down by snipers. A sort of shambling across the ground on all fours as low to the ground as possible, to be used when dodging sniper fire and getting past low cover.

There's already 2 different speeds of crawling in the game. There's just normal "press W to go forward" crawl and then there crawl with the sprint button held down too. Unless you're referring to the fact  that It's too slow at the moment?

Hey guys, I just put this together a test for what I think would perhaps be a much better plan than the strange Rough/Precise Skill System the Devs briefly touched on for the Soft Skills. I think that a negative reward system can only be bad and won't make any sense in any logical RP sense - Chopping wood making me worse at sewing, for instance. I think that a growing, yet limited, 'grinding' system is absolutely fine. . as long as it is limited by the day.

    Lifetime Perk
On a scale of 60 Base Stamina where 1 Stamina is used every second you spend sprinting, gain +5 Stamina per day survived, up to 12 day cap. This would double the Stamina scale to 120, essentially allowing you to run from 1 minute to 2 minutes.
This is also assuming that the Stamina system will recharge .5 every second as long as you aren't in jogging mode (Not Sprinting, just moving in basic jog) - Walk or not moving only. In this way it would take 2-4 minutes to recover the Stamina bar, based on your Lifetime Perk.

    Strengths -
⦁     Lumberjacking, - For each Lumberjacking task performed, increase speed by 1% of action, up to a maximum of 60% faster. Maximum of 5% gain per day.
⦁    Carrying, - For each 10 minutes that Carrying limit is reached increase maximum Carrying Capacity by 1%, up to a maximum of 60%. Maximum of 5% gain per day.
⦁    Endurance - Each full day lived increase Health by 50 all the way up to a maximum of 6000 Health, a full 1000 additional internally.
    Precisions -
⦁    Medical, - For each Medical task performed, increase speed by 1% of action, up to a maximum of 60% faster. Maximum of 5% gain per day.
⦁    Mechanics, - For each Mechanical task performed, increase speed by 1% of action, up to a maximum of 60% faster. Maximum of 5% gain per day.
⦁    Farming - For each Farming task performed, increase speed by 1% of action, up to a maximum of 60% faster. Maximum of 5% gain per day.
    Tactics -
⦁     Scoping, - For each successful shot you make while scoping lower scoping sway in all states, exhausted to chill as a cucumber, lower sway by 1% up to 60%. Maximum of 5% gain per day.
⦁    Close Quarters, - For each successful melee strike you make increase damage by 1% up to 60%. Maximum of 5% gain per day.
⦁    Explosives - For each thrown explosive increase range player can throw by 1% up to 60%. Maximum of 5% gain per day.
    Skills -
⦁    Skinning, - For each skinning action performed, increase speed by 1% of action, up to a maximum of 60% faster. Maximum of 5% gain per day.
⦁    Fishing, - For each fishing action performed, increase success rate by 1% of action, up to a maximum of 60%. Maximum of 5% gain per day.
⦁    Driving - For each 10 minutes spent inside of a car increase maximum speed by 1 up to a maximum of 20 mph. Maximum of 5% gain per day.

Soft Skill degradation up to Servers, but in Vanilla perhaps every day not played reduce Soft skills by 1% up to a reduction limit of 10%, thereby not destroying players who don't get to play everyday, but lowers their abilties decently to reflect their inactivity.

I like the idea you're having here but I'm seeing several flaws with this system if you think about what the devs mentioned. Firs thin is, as you're saying yourself, It's a "grinding system" even though It's not as bad as some of the previous mentioned things It's still "grind" to get the most benefits. Which is exactly what the devs don't want. They just want you to play the game just like you would before, and then you get better at the things that you just so happen to be doing. So for example the "Explosives soft skill" that you mentioned would cause a lot of players to start throwing around grenades to get that perk up because they had some grenades laying around. If the system wasn't implemented they would never even have touched the grenade in the first place. Catch my drift? And I don't know if many of these perks are just "dummies" but quite a few of these also go against the rule, that the devs set out for, on the soft skill system. They whole plan of the soft skill system isn't to make a player "better" (which the Endurance, Scoping, Close Quarters and Driving perks go directly against) because they do so that a player have an easier time killing another player because they have been alive for longer and done certain things. The driving perk doesn't make it easier to kill someone, but it just doesn't make any sense at all. Why would you be able to go faster because you've been driving for a longer amount of time? I could see it work implemented into a system such as "Mechanics" where, if you find the right parts, you would be able to install certain types of vehicle parts that would give the engine a little bit of a boost and therefore increase top speed, acceleration etc. a tiny amount. This also makes it so that a player that doesn't have any "skill" within mechanics can find a car with it already installed in the wild. and therefore make it a bit more dynamic.

    Hello,

Been gone a while, checked on a few patches but I think .61 really caught my eye. I played the crap out of dayz a year ago, ran solo, clans and decided to leave it alone a while and see just give it some time to be developed further. Part of it was I was simply burned out haha after playing for some 600 hours. What was there left to do? So i played other games for a while, elite dangerous, GTA ect ect

I spent a few hours playing .61. build..................I like it! I like the new loot count. I think I only found 2 cans of food. The rest I had to get off the land. Much more of a realistic survival exp. This I def give a thumbs up! All my time running solo a year ago I kind of hoped for a day with in the game. Also the zombies I think have come a long way. There appear to be much more of them, they seem more organic with in the game. Not just running after the instant you near them, if one uses stealth they can be avoided. Kind of something that was totally missing before. Technology wise I improved my cards to 970 slis...and 5.1 head phones, which make for a much more realistic game play, vary enjoyable. So that plus the improvements to the engine makes for a much better game play exp. Also really like the gritty improvements to the city's and map itself. So yes there was a zombie apoc in a eastern euro hell hole and no this is not just arma 2 with zombies. I am really glad to see much progress! I think my interest has been re-sparked.

So what is weather advisorys? I keep seeing that pop up on server mes? is that something new?

Glad you're back man, yeah DayZ is really getting into the time now where all the major systems are being introduced and we're seeing huge changes in how the game works and plays (for the better). Now I think the "weather warning" you're referring to is the fact that you can't start fires properly in some buildings in the current stable version of .61, and getting wet/rain is really dangerous now as you get hypothermia quickly when drenched. So It's basically just a heads up :) (This is my guess on what that is because I don't have server messages on my self for immersion)

A little video I put together showing a bit of gunplay and some weirdness with hits registering on players. Not sure if it's me, or because it's alpha or something?

Either way, this video sums up the last few days of gunplay for me, more than a few clips like this... What do you think?

Now there is some issues on .61 with hit registration at the moment, but I think what happened with the first few magnum shots was that the "bulletproof bush" saved the guy which  has been an "issue" on DayZ for a very long time. So I think what happened there was simply the bush being bulletproof, and not hit registration however It is a problem as I said. :)

I got to play for a few hours last night, I had lots of "session lost" as usual on my end.

I noticed no difference between x64 and x32 except for one memory crash using x64.

I was running inland like a madman when I hear those horrible little deer making that "almost puking" sound and my kid beside me playing Skyrim asked what the hell that was. I explained they were little deer who's only defence is to run around on the bottom of ponds and/or make gawd awful sounds almost like a zombie trying to make predators shit their pants. I veered left towards the sound to show him and shortly after saw them running towards me, it took me a minute to register something wasn't right "wait, they're supposed to run away". I ran right for the middle of the herd, had no gun figured I'd run with the deer for a bit at which point I heard a faint bark. It was unexpected and I was quite surprised by the deer running towards me but it looked like the wolves were chasing the deer herd.

So now this is happening I remember I want to garrison in a house or deerstand and see if those damn dogs ever drop agro so I veer right to a house a short distance away, I get close to the house not sure if the wolves are on me or not and the memory crash happens. In a panic totally focused on my wolf research I shut down DayZ and restart it in x32 for whatever reason and log back in to the same server as fast as possible. I rush into the house and sht the door, start looking out the windows but no wolves, can still hear the damn deer though. I guess I wasn't paying attention or delayed statuses and it turns out I'm starving to death so I head out to pick apples in the yard and figure out what to do next. I'm still pretty fresh and lacking much storage space so I pick some apples, eat pick some more for awhile.

I've been getting pretty good at hearing footsteps before the stepper sees me lately, I sit still a lot with the subwoofer cranked. So I'm at my apple tree and I hear some erratic footsteps outside the fence, it's not an infected for sure, sounds kind of like a player shuffling trying to peek. I call out "hello?", "I can hear you?", etc. and get no response so I know I have to move and figure this out or run, I get up and start to look around the fence to see some wolves circling me, not a howl, bark, nothing. Now I'm excited, run to the house and shut myself in while the wolves surround it, I crouch and eat an apple in the back bedroom. The wolves continued to growl and attack the walls whether I was crouched, prone or standing, I held out for about ten minutes before I got "session lost". I logged back in immediately, no wolves, waited a bit and they never came back or respawned.

I went back to x64 on the next "session lost" and played another hour or so no more memory problems, a few more disconnects but that's all my on end probably to do with th recent snow we had

I don't think wolves drop agro and "lock on" to players with a totally different mechanic than infected or the cutoffs for whether they can/can't sense players work much farther than the infected.

I wish I could have got longer waiting in the house.

Other than the issues (as to be expected on experiemental, unfortunately) that sounded like a really cool play session you had there, bud.

I thought it was the carbine weapon, lol. It looks almost the same. I guess u can equip a long range scope on it. :)

It is a carbine, it's just the model 550 rather than the model 527 that is in the game right now :)

  11. Beautiful looking rifle, that. All-in-all a general "specifications chart" so to speak for the weapon would be great like: ammo type, mag size, rarity/availability, "supported" attachments, effective range etc.

Second question(perhaps not completely related): Weapons like the Scout, is planned for DayZ. I was thinking about different "military grade" sniper rifles? Is there plans on adding a NATO (for example) sniper rifle that supports extreme long range sniping? Perhaps a new "top-of-the-line" round such as the .338? Or do you guys think you have reached the "top" in how powerful you want the rounds to be? I understand it might not be a question that can be answered as of right now, but is it something that has been talked about?

almost impossible to deal with these forums, login errors geez.

I am still looking for scopes, it could be possible those scopes have not been fixed to the new engine, and its trying to render too much. Ill keep looking and see what i can come up with. I run in a window, so it may show different then full screen mode. Ill do both to test it.

I do notice there is a huge freeze from 90fps to 8fps then goes back to 90fps. I doubt that is the towns unloading items or big tents. I think that too is also in still.

So none of the bugs we really posted on prior have been basically fixed. Some did with the updates but not many as for mechanics etc.

I think that issue you're having there will be fixed if you delete your .60 .cfg file (documents folder) It did for me anyway, as I had a similar problem when I installed .61

NO i totally agree with you, i am just saying give my settings a try with vsync, and AA. Motion blurs etc.. until we get it optimized.

I am just going to test it for you, to see if i can come up with the same problem. If only i could meet up and test your FPS drops. You and a few others experience this.

What scope is that long ranged? so i know to pick it up on the b95 right?

Yes the hunting scope on the blaze is just fine, also binocs, PSO-1 etc. Basically all "fullscreen scopes" seems to have the issue, the further the zoom the worse.

It cannot be it though dude as I have said turning my settings to low doesn't help me, what is it that people don't understand? I've said it a billion times, I have tried going to the lowest possible settings and to the highest, same result when using the scope. And also I shouldn't really run my game at 1920x1080 when I use a 1440p monitor. CHANING MY SETTINGS DOES NOT WORK, PLEASE

  15. 17 minutes ago, sneakydude said:

Good system, have you checked all of the settings or do you just leave them to ultra? and not adjust Vsync or AA or any other settings.

You would have to tweak everything. I haven't tried to go into .61 but willing to give it a stab today. Ill test all the video and come out with a decent scenario for you.

Mine is a 850 pro x2 mirror, i7 4770k, gtx 780ti SC 3gb, 16gb it is rather close to each others system. Your card is the newer titan correct?

Here's a video showing my issue, this is after deleting my .cfg file and all that good stuff, just put some medium settings in there and this is the FPS i get when using the scope, as I said changing graphical settings doesn't affect the FPS by much in the scope, changing my resolution to 1920x1080 gives me about 25% higher frame-rate or so (I don't have a video of this sorry).. My FPS in this video is not my average FPS (as It has set fairly weird settings because I've reset and just put some random stuff on) my normal FPS lays between 65-150 or so. Except for when aiming, like shown.. then my FPS is trash.

  16. I've played DayZ since the mod and SA since launch I have 2500 hours in the game, and I know quite a bit about the different "weird" issues that it could have in terms of graphical settings, so I would expect that my problem isn't an easy task, but as I have stated before, I could've missed something potentially.

  17. I'm not sure which generation of the card it is exactly.. But our systems are very similar, I have tried everything. This specific type of problem I'm having happened in .60 (and .61), or at least I feel it a lot now. It may have happened before .60 because of the low frame-rate already, but I doubt as I did have decent FPS in the wooded areas and that's where the main issue is now, or well it doesn't need to be forest areas, just as soon as there's a few birch trees. And my settings are specifically set, and even - as I've said about 23 times now - changing ANY graphical settings other than the screen resolution affects the FPS, perhaps there's a little gain when turning AA off completely. My FPS outside scope is ofc. impacted by graphical changes, but in the scope, near none..

  18. My specs of my PC is Nvidia GTX Titan 6GB GDDR5, Intel Core i7 4770k overclocked to 4.2 ghz (watercooled), 16 gb of HyperX Beast RAM, 500 gb samsung 850 pro SSD. The problem you're describing is not my issue. My issue is low frame-rate no matter how long I stay zoomed in for, and the especially bad ones are orange broad leaf "birch" trees. Even running the game on the lowest possible settings, I have the same effect where as on the problem you're talking about, lowering the texture detail and texture filtering will sort out the issue. This is NOT, my issue though.

  19. @Zing Freelancer Yeah, I get that, but I don't really understand how the performance is that bad, even changing my graphical settings to low, I still have horrible FPS when using scopes. The only thing that can "improve" my FPS is lowering my resolution, It's the only thing affecting my FPS in scopes significantly. I dont really know what you're talking about the "bush problem"?

EDIT: And I'm running a GTX Titan, and i7 4770k so it's not like I'm running DayZ on a toaster. It has always been a bit of a problem with most Bohemia games for me, hopefully the new engine has a remedy..

  20. Also yes there are problems at the moment with the server side performance not being very good, which can make some weird stuff happen in .61 exp. Usually a good indication of slow server performance is zombies moving slowly and animals having a slow moving pace aswell
