    I actually deleted that section as yourself and Emu showed me the flaws of having Combat related passive bonuses. Now everything would be user actions that benefit you in normal ways - No more better sway or damage, just speed involved in menial tasks. Also, I made it a 5% Max Gain a day, with a max limit of 100% - Taking a full 25 days to max out everything. Truthfully, I wouldn't be against death as the only reduction - Making the life of the character easier to level up and not feel like you're losing anything when not playing. The only reason why I added the skill reduction in inactivity would be to give those players who are coming back a task to try to practice forward again. -- With the Rank Levels, I think it kind of fixes what you were talking about. If you were an Expert of Medical tasks, you could never drop below Skill 50 - and such and so forth.

    I can agree on quite a few things on this :) So essentially, without the Tactics section of Soft Skills (Combat ones) it's a pretty decent list, I think. The skill degradation was something I thought might balance the game when players take off days from playing or have IRL stuff to do. - As for reducing your skills 1% every full day you miss with the limit of 10% reduction, it MAY be far too much a reduction. . Perhaps if it picked at random 1 Soft Skill to reduce by 1%, the reduction penalties for inactivity a solid 5% at max (5 days not playing). Remember that even at 0% bonus passive, you can still utilize any of these skills. . You'll just be slower and less effective as someone who's practiced these out.
  6. Honestly, on this server, if you want to act yourself just in Chernarus hellhole you totally can xD You just have to respond as if things are affecting your character, ya know? Haha

    Oh, I understand. But notice that there is also Skill Decay to offset any winnings unless you are an absolute DayZ freak and are on it 24/7, and the fact that you can only raise your character's skills by 5% every day played to offset a grind. That would be doing any of these actions 5 times successfully. To get to the highest level, you'd have to play on it 12 consecutive days and not die. The game should feel like it's rewarding your character as time goes on and you're doing a lot more - Not rewarding/subtracting from you as the one touched on by the Devs implicated - And maybe the percentages are off, but this was just a tester that I think would probably work a lot better :) These passive bonuses aren't meant to feel necessary at all, just a choice of the player to pursue if he wishes to turn a 6 second animation into a 2.4 second animation at the most - Making your character feel like a much faster, more resilient, and more resourceful kind of survivor. . Which, if you've put that much time into raising all of your skills to the highest and put that much time into your character and not died, I'm okay with them being badasses haha.

Not sure if you're into it, but a good amount of people are on Aftermath DayZ RP, which is a Hardcore 1PP RP Server with events and factions :) No KOS rule in place, but there are PvP zones to go seeking trouble, if you dare it. It's half EU (Server based there), and US. So you get best of both worlds in population in game! http://aftermathdayzrp.com/portal.php

    Thanks for the replies, guys! I really just put this together quite quickly as I think this, although a grinding system, may be better and really not even necessary to gameplay. It's whole chief purpose was to reward any action you decide to do by making you a bit faster or more successful at that action. Just like in real life, if I practice shooting, fishing, bandaging, or even planting things to farm. . I get better at it IRL. - But if I spend time away from these activities, I am unpracticed and thus am worse at what I do. - The lovely thing about this system is, it doesn't matter if all of your skills are at 0% because it would be very much like it is right now. . You wouldn't even notice. However, if your character had survived for 6 Full Server days and you've been doing things to gain your practices. . Then you are just that much faster and better at it. Still, in the end, it's not a HUGE thing that people would ever need. . Just a reward for players who have given their time to the game. =) PS - Yeah, the grenade thing. . I didn't know what else to say for that kind of activity. Maybe it should be changed to Traps, where it just reduces the Trap setting time 1% to 60% faster.

    Reason to keep playing?

    Can't believe I'm about to say this, but. . Fast Updates. The Devs are blasting out Exp Updates every week or so to fix bugs and add content. More and more is coming, while what we have is barely even the game they'll be turning it into within the next 6 months or so. Also, this game is not about progression right now. . It's a survival social game - It's almost a test of morality and decision-making with the greatest goal being that you've survived and beaten the odds.

    Vanishing during gunfight

    Occasionally bodies will become invisible when you kill someone, only searchable if you scan over where their body was when killed. Certainly could have been that, or he could have crashed or logged off.. though his body would have stood there for at least 10-15 seconds.

    1pp - character too short?

    I think the only thing that should increase is the character's perspective, especially while in Crouching mode, as there are several instances where you cannot see over windows that seem plausibly short enough to scan over. Making a random length spawn won't work because players will just kill themselves to get a new player perspective that suits their needs - That would break immersion. Also, I believe the art team made like 20-something new characters to choose from that they'll be putting into the game at some point.

    Not a bad idea, honestly. I'm not sure what the Devs have planned, but I could see this working out pretty well and not -really- detract from either party. Good job :)

    is it just me...?

    Watching my friends pwn bigotry ;D Honestly, this is a straight up Pv*E* game - As in Player VS Environment, because in this game even the other players are just a piece of the world potentially capable of harming or killing you. Just because at the moment another player can most expediently end your characters life, it may not remain so. Ammo and gun spawns will reduce, Infected population and danger will increase, more predators will be introduced, and so many more threats will be given to the world. Essentially any idea that this is a simple game of Kill-That-Guy is foolish and won't last in the next few updates.

    Is DayZ still too easy ?

    Personally I don't want to say its perfectly balanced because obviously Beta isn't here - And I won't say its too hard because there is plenty to exploit and not everything works as intended yet. It's good to remember that this game is in Alpha and that there is a shit ton of content they've worked on that we don't have access to yet, but will quite soon. The 2016 In Review post by Baty is the most insightful thing One can look at if they want to see what the Devs have been working on. (I.E. Everything we've wanted) Things may take time, but this Dev team is finally at the top of the hill and ready to run down at full speed. I imagine 2017 will be extremely expansionist and ambitious on their part. I won't even pretend to know the first thing about programming, but I'll say these guys have shown in these full months that they're A+. Keep up support, take breaks as per any game, and join back as new stuff comes - The DayZ mantra.

Just kind of wanted to start a topic on things that you'd most like to see in the .62 Visual Update :D I am very sure that the DayZ Devs have some great ideas in mind that will likely change the landscape into a much closer vision to what will be, but it's fun to guess! Some small things I'd like to see Ruination of most buildings - Holes cut out INSIDE certain houses, more unique destruction amidst homes of the same type. Snowwwww. A giant imposing wall around the North and West borders that is distinctive of a large scale Quarantine. Much higher growth in all sectors, long grasses in fields (Reminiscent of Jurassic Park 2 with the Raptors ;D)

  21. As we all know if you want to survive easily in DayZ at this juncture the solution is to find an apple tree and spam the RNG until you get enough to get Green status. This makes the game easier than it should be and provides an easy escape from the survival atmosphere. It's time to change how fruit trees work mechanically. My proposal is simply this: Add visible fruit to the trees that can be picked one by one until there aren't anymore. These trees can reset every two hours or whatever the Devs deem a good amount of time. Fruit on Tree: 'You have picked an X' No Fruit on Tree: 'There was nothing to be found'

    Oooh good question. I believe what I remember hearing like a year ago that loot was spawned across Chernarus every 5 seconds across the Central Economy :) Hope this helps!

    Hey guys! Just curious what song you guys feel is closest to the feeling you derive from game :D Personally, the progression of music and dance is like the progression of DayZ - The words, the voices of the players haha. A toast for the scumbags, all the ones I know <3 (The Players) A toast for the jerkoffs, the ones who never take work off <3 (The Devs) (P.S.: Watch that whole video after a doobie. Oh my~)
