Eventually, probably when modding is out, I would love to find a cellphone and be able to text others, play games on it, or even call!

Ooooh man, this is exciting! I would LOVE to hear more about the Map Design and such! :D Questions!: 1.) Are you guys done with your final Iteration of Chernarus? Or will it be extended? 2.) What challenges did you face when trying to make the Map Design work well in a MMO setting like this? 3.) Can we expect to see any other great changes to the Map, or the flow of the Map?

Hey guys, a lot of you know me, played with me, or have been killed by me <3 I'd like to simply discuss what we know about .62, the time it is taking, and how things will change when it hits EXP/Stable. First of all, this is not a flame thread, nor a rant against the Devs. DayZ is already a good game and I've gotten my money's worth. Anything who thinks otherwise is insane after playing hundreds of hours. With that said, we all know what we would like, and we can see visually how the Devs are putting it together on their newest SRs and Vids. I think beyond what anything else desires, the Devs want this game to be legendary more than anyone else. And it is and will be. .62 So, let's start off with what we know! Updated Forest Visuals, Roads, Restructured Train Tracks, Restructured Terrain (In some places, Western), Updated Cities (A few) Updated Audio for most actions, as well as Forest Audio. The Promise With these things listed being added into the game, there are a whole mess of reasons why this patch could be a HUGE evolution for the game world and how players go about their time while playing DayZ. The massive changes being taken place will essentially make it so that most of what you see in game, what you hear around you, and how you get from A to B will change and be that much better. Such a large change will no doubt allow players to go 'explore', despite being regulars or having the map in your head. New Adventure through unknown and better looking lands. Pleasant on our ears, as well as possibly more realistic. Perhaps the finalization of loot distribution if the 'Visual Overhaul' is only picking at a few cities in changing. The Fear With all that said and the hype that comes along with envisioning the future Chernarus, there are still factors that weigh heavily on the player's mind and the prospective consumers that may wish to buy this game. There is the obvious and stated officially idea that this game will never finish, even to the point where they asked the question in a few of their SR Vids. This is not a good statement to hear or even be identified by the Devs, but it is out there and believed. There is a certain 'Face' that must be maintained in the business world and if the Devs take in that kind of insult to their efforts as true belief, it may become a self-fulfilling prophecy and I don't want to see that. Still, there are frustrations in the time that it is taking to pump out their efforts. I am not a game designer, animator, or have any business connected to whatever they may be doing in their efforts, but from an outsider's standpoint, there is a caution I feel towards raising my hype towards development. With about 3.5 months into 2017, there is still no ETA for .62 - a patch that was supposed to be changing only forests, but as time mounts more and more keeps being promised and added. While I'm relatively optimistic towards DayZ's future, I am just not seeing how the things involved in .62 are taking this long. . They're replacing textures and sounds in systems that they already have working as operational. So why then have it taken this long to arrive on Experimental? My fear is that they're afraid of letting it loose too early because they have an incredible amount of work ahead of them for .63 (BETA). Not wishing to make the players wait another possible 6-12 months for Beta to come out, they could perhaps be holding it to the point where they have approximately 4-6 months wait. And in doing so, they keep adding what's going to show up on .62. While this may sound nice to some, it is delaying progress and giving uninformed players the impression that the game 'will never finish' or 'is too old'. In general, at this point, or hopefully Beta, updates should be coming quicker. . But time will tell. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Anyway, if you have an idea or want to comment on this, feel free. Just please no flaming the Devs! It is pointless and some of us are defensive of this game we love :P

I was more looking for an ETA for .62's release, but they center all of their information around BETA. I wonder, again, if this is because they're mostly done with .62 and are holding it till BETA isn't so far off, as to not give the players another long wait for update?
-
Good report :) Fantastic and info-heavy for any who don't follow development. But.. Still no ETA for .62? :/

Hey guys, while we all bide our time for the next SR and the next update to .62, I thought it'd be fun to have a small discussion on the new animations that we'll be seeing in .63 and the new player controller. What are some new animations you'd like to see? :D I have quite a few in mind! Movement Moving uphill - The player would lean forward and even grab at the ground occasionally for grip and perhaps exhaust the Stamina bar a bit, making the character huff a few times. Moving downhill - The player would lean backward a bit and take gentle steps, with the Sprint button capable of slinging their body forward to slide on the ground a bit (Surf downwards a small distance) Inertia - Self-explanatory, have the character be limited by weight of own body and of the goods they place onto their body. -- If weighted by a ton of goods, if attacked or shot, should have player fall forward onto their stomach (Prone) Running - Less upright, constrained by weights, hands/arms more fluid. 'Stealth' - More creeping walk, ability to lean against walls and walk for less sound. Attacks When Hurt - The player should grab at the subject location that was hurt and groan for a second, blood seeping out from the wound subject location (Head, Arms, Chest, Legs). When Hurting Others - The player should move fluidly towards them and strikes should look realistic. Fatigue - No more infinite sign gun sway, but either a flickery center aim or one that lowers and you have to keep it up. Infected Grappling Players - Leaping onto their legs or back, holding on, and slowly damaging the player - but also limiting mobility. Breaking Down Doors - It's time to let it out of the bag already. We've seen the animation, let's do it! Running - Should look more like a player, not a poopy pants grandma. Bonus - A distinctive animation of the Infected gnawing at dead bodies OR certain Infected carrying melee weapons to attack with would really blow open the debate of just what kind of Infected they really are; Dawn of the Dead or 28 Days Later.

We have our new SR starting tomorrow and it has been 12 days without an update on Exp so far. It may very well be the week of announcing .62! -- Or it could just be more good information to mull over and possibly a new video. I'm going to have my hopes on .62, though, and can only hope that with the fundamental changes being done, that vehicles also get more love. The more and more I come into contact with them, the more I see that they are a staple of this game. I also have the belief that with many more vehicles, and the Retrievable Car Parts mentioned before, that this game will entice many back to the game - even without the awesome new player controller and such. -- Anyone else feel like it's close?

Hey guys! In the lull of waiting for more news from the Devs about .62 and Beta, finding it kind of hard to play at the moment! But I do enjoy looking towards the future and still following along a lot of information about the platform and such. A question I'd like to pose to the Forum Community is. . . What is the most desired vehicle with a function? To make things simple, I'm only going to include Five choices to pick from - while others can be commented and considered on. All of these choices will have immense roleplay potential as well as add huge amounts of value to the vehicles, themselves. For a group, even just one of these vehicles could provide a huge boon to their gamestyle - or at least give a potential action to be played upon. Let me know what you think! Take a moment and think of the situations you could be placed in if you had one of these vehicles! -- Regardless if these come in DayZ 1.0, they will be modded in, if need be! Police Car - 4 Seats, Lockable Backseats to transport hostages, Flashing Lights/Sirens. Fire Truck - 4 Seats, Huge Inventory, Can store huge amounts of Water, Flashing Lights/Sirens. Ambulance - 4 Seats, 1 Stretcher Bed in Back that promotes healing, Flashing Lights/Sirens. Humvee - 5 Seats, 1 Gunner Position, Armored vehicle. Fueling Truck - 2 Seats, Can store huge amounts of gasoline.
-
Looks like the poll essentially narrows down the kind of players that are active at the moment! Majority wants a more PvP-Centric Reward and Vehicle added to the game :) I do have no doubt that all of these will eventually be added - if not in vanilla 1.0, then the modded version!
-
What I love is that all of these vehicles have a unique RP potential and would add THAT much more to the game world! Police Cars would allow people to act like cops more realistically, or even give baddies a way to capture others! The Fire Truck I can see being super important in the future when water is limited! Having just one of these at your base would be like having a Well of water. (WATER WARS!) The Ambulance is, again, more flavor, but it would allow a team to truly act like paramedics - or just give people a mobile clinic to heal at! The Humvee is an obvious favorite for it's multiple uses and imagery it produces! Place one of these at a military area and watch as a group becomes the A-Team. And Fueling Trucks are a fantastic idea because then we even get a flavor of Mad Max! (GAS WARS!) because in the future, this resource may be very limited as well. Also, I chose Five Vehicles because they could simply reskin the Sedan and the Cargo :D

Hey guys! So DayZ is awesome and improving every day! Let's see what you guys have for your Top 3 Pick features to see still! Mine are: Advanced Movement/Stamina Barricading Realistic Physics of ragdolls and vehicle (Bonus 4th: Environmental Destruction)

For as much work you put into that presentation, I am definitely all in to see this in the game haha. Chernarussian Death Star sounds hilarious, also xD

Wow, I've been thinking on this lately, as well. IMHO, The Public Hives are the reason for a lot of unfair advantages that can ruin experiences and lessen the playing field. For what was mentioned above, the 'secret' private hives that people can use to loot up gives the owners a chance to be fully kitted with no resistance. Privates, for being their own server and world, feels and breathes like DayZ should. No way around it and I've experienced SO MUCH LESS hacking that it is no question as to where I play. Removing Public Servers is a step in the right direction, I feel. -- The Server Landscape will certainly change as some servers will fall and die, while others will grow. But in general, having less places to go and having only the option to play on ONE world, will grant numbers to a lot more Privates in need.

Hey guys, just posting up this Info vid that Eugen Harton did a few days ago in Prague at White Nights.

Dayz Veteran but not sure best way to meet my friend in game
Espa replied to redmantab's topic in General Discussion
Depending on if we're using a TS or not, we'll generally just try to run to each others location. Playing quickly with friends is kind of tough unless you're lucky with spawns. -
Ooooh DayZ is coming. . Sing it to us, Devs <3
-
Ooooh interesting! :D I love the new animations I spied! Fist fighting looks great! Hopefully there are kicks too!

I wonder if these will finally be put to use :D Or these . . https://trello.com/c/xxn9t08Q/56-new-zed-sounds-wip

Took me a minute to find it, buttttt. . Voila.

Just to point out some key points for you :) Technically, you can already go to a building that you believe is never used and use a lockpick on the door to lock it, thus having a 'safer base' -- But other players will always be curious when there's a locked door and attempt to break it, so choose wisely where to go! As for future Base Building, yes! It is a feature that is being worked on with quite a lot of interesting stuff to see and do with it :D When we will see it is up for debate, as that will come shortly after .63 comes out I would assume. I would place bets on maybe at the end of the year, we'll be able to build smaller things IF Precise Placement of goods is operable. https://trello.com/b/5yzeFpo2/dayz Scroll down on the In Progress and you'll find a few models.

Totally understand dude. Honestly, in the end, I want DayZ to run like an amazing sandbox that feels Singleplayer -- But lo and behold, there are other players around to interact with.
-
For the casual or new player, running to a specific kind of house to find a bed just to log out will only raise frustrations. I think the best fix for this would simply be to make the respawn timer to like 2 minutes when killed, a sort of timer (visual or literal) while unconscious, and when you're logging out - Have a signal that will either let you do so (Not in combat) or forbid the button from being pressed because you were attacked in the last 30 seconds or so. Raising the log out timer to 15-30 seconds with a resting animation would be great though.

The new attack animations look great! :D I can't wait to see how players are affected by these swings/stabs! I'm really not sure how much more work is being put into .62, but it sounds fantastic! The audio part of the update will certainly be amazing and much needed! Can't wait to be immersed into Chernarus even more ^_^ Am I wrong to think that .62 doesn't sound that far off from being done?? I want to see it, like.. Thursday/Friday haha. (Here's to hoping!) QUESTION - Are Infected receiving any new Audio sounds, as well?
