Oh man. . Think of the traps that can be set by leaving items like these out in the open. . xD

[Dev] Eye zoom 'probably' being removed entirely

Thanks for the write-up, I am sure it took some time. Though most of what you said was true and relevant, if the DayZ Devs do decide to remove the 'Eye-Zoom', it simply won't matter anymore. Besides that, the 'Eye-Zoom' is, again, not a realistic feature in the way that it works exactly like a Binocular/Scope. Eye focusing is more like a Camera, like you said, but blurring the outer rims and clearing the center (As I said). Adding to this that DayZ is a game and there just simply is not a way to replicate real life inside a game. - DayZ is pretty damn close, and if they have to remove this feature to allow better spatial rendering, It's understandable. Everyone will be on the same playing field with this change, so it's really not bothersome, to me. -- Like I said at first, I'm likely a minority For this change. But I do see potentially more caution in players as they can't eagle-eye/VATS to see if someone is way over there precisely xD -

100 Meters is actually pretty decently far away for the human eyes to pick up things precisely, adding to that light levels and environmental camouflage. The above picture is actually a pretty accurate shot of what a real life encounter would be like with someone at that distance. They'd be tiny, in the distance, looking close to a dark spike. If you're in a dark area, you most likely wouldn't even see them if they weren't moving abruptly or making any loud noises across that distance. For visual of 100 Meters and why I think it's silly that we have robo-eyes in DayZ. - If it DOES stay, I won't be upset by it because obviously some enjoy it and it doesn't take anything away from my experience. -

Guys, I'm not a kid or can't understand what you're getting at with Human Vision, but we all know it cannot be perfectly replicated for a game (Yet?). The In-Game version that we use now is a 'Focus', sure, but it is indeed a Zoom feature. I realize now it's a subject of various sides. . But still. . I live in Colorado Springs and go hike in the mountains about 5-6 times a week for a few hours at a time, so I am used to seeing others at a great distance and 'focusing' on objects/structures to see them more clearly. However, I literally cannot Zoom my eyes haha. If this game had a true perception Focus, it would be more like keeping your same vision of things while the center focuses further and more clear - while the outside rim would become more opaque and blurry. That would be more realistic, to me. -

I may be in the minority, but I actually always found the 'Eye-Zoom' to be horribly unrealistic. I'm not sure about the rest of you, but I don't possess robot eyes that zoom in so far that I lose perspective of what's closer to me. I would say that the best solution is just to increase render-size/distance of characters in the distance in lieu of having robo-eyes. Just like in real life, you should actually need binoculars and scopes to see well at a distance. - This will also render everyone just as vulnerable from a long-sighted foe. Win-win in my book. Edit: As for those who say that this is going to remove the cautiousness of 'smart players', I really don't think so. I truly believe caution comes from a personality type and experience, so those who are cautious now will simply find another manner of doing so. -
M1NDR's GamesCom Update :) Really great info!

Totally and logically possible that they want to limit public experiences so there's less risk and there are people who actually have the job of PR, like Baty. But it certainly strikes me odd that the Lead Producer (Eugen) would be the big boss and attend all the Talking Pieces, while the Creative Director (Brian Hicks) who we are used to delivering content to us, was no where to be seen. Not trying to be a big gossip, but. . There may be something else going on >.<

On the chart I just posted, there is INDEED a Finisher Attack to an opponent that is on the ground. - There is also a Pin to the Ground move. . That may the disabling one. Also, you can still shoot their legs and such to break them, but I do see now what you've brought up. It'll be near impossible to directly hit -that- limb that I want when the Attack Animations are fixed. Not a huge loss, but it does make one think about how melee battles will be played. - Haven't seen a Block yet on Demo xD

Also, just for kicks :)

Hey dude, since no one else answered, I'll give you my respectful 2 cents. First of all, he's not a Texan so that shouldn't be the issue with Hurricane Harvey. I believe he's actually got residence in both Prague and Seattle. From his latest twitter, he said that he reached his limit when someone told him they'd like to abusively attack his mother. . No other details on that except that's sick whoever thought that was clever or a good internet jab. Even with that said, I've noticed a really bad trend on Hick's feed this year of him acting rather depressive and excuse the disrespect, but just whiney about everything. I would not put it passed BI to simply not invite him as his attitude isn't great for the kind of excitement they're trying to create. Best of luck towards the guy, obviously, but his absence was definitely noticed. It's a good thing they have Eugen, Peter, and Baty and the others who have become popular through their SR involvement.

Yeah, definitely an interesting system they have currently. . It may be something that you could get used to though :) If not, I think. . The button chart that I posted a few days ago had a Double Right Click Toggle for Aiming. . Hopefully! xD

Rene :D His own footage at GamesCom!

You know, Eugen and the others are really impressing me with their enthusiasm and confidence for this Beta :D Apparently, they are working on the game while at GamesCom, turning out new Updates for it. . Whew, talk about devoted to work. They have got me on a Hype Train that is too fast to get off xD

M1NDR :) First person blood texture New ground texture (I think) New 'ready' stance when holding the knife (Unless this is simply a mid-animation screenshot)

Hopefully some good info will come out today ^_^ Compliments of @Wolfgeist on Reddit, summarizing some of the awesome changes. They said apples and stones are spawning on the ground, and aren't unlimited. the new melee system automatically detects entities in your proximity, not sure if this means a soft "lock on" mechanism or what exactly. Eugen said you will see the character holding the mag and you can see every round being loaded, on a revolver you can see the exact amount in the wheel, pretty cool! The stamina bar isn't linear: it will replenish slower the lower it is, meaning you don't want to let yourself get totally exhausted. You can place a generator using the precise placement system and connect it to an electrified fence. There is now a belt slot, hopefully we get belt holsters and knife sheaths! The "resolution" of the inventory has increased meaning there's many more slots in each container, some items will become smaller or bigger generally meaning you will be able to carry more very small items than before. Many functions such as crafting, first aid, etc will function from the quick bar. Sound will be affected by walls so zombies will be less likely to hear you through a wall. we will be able to distract zombies with objects thrown. The contents of our stomach will be more realistically simulated including digestion, etc. Maybe your belly will stick out a bit of you're full?

I'm sure that they are shooting for Novemberish, wanting out to throw it out as an early Christmas gift to themselves for working so hard.

Pretty sure its' Hold Right-Click to raise your hands to get into Attack Mode, or Use Mode. While not holding Right-Click, your hands are down.
