  1. Thanks buddy! I just like the idea of Zed reallyyyy controlling the nightly situations and to prey on the fear of players of feeling safer from zombies. . In the night, you may be more occluded from other players. . But the Zed would be instinctively on the hunt for you. In retrospect, in the day all scanning players could find you even easier in the bright light, whereas Zed would be less harmful. This may infact cause servers to alter their course from (24/7 Daytime) to a full course, which I think is the better route always.
  2. Upon further analysis of my idea in conjunction with everyone else's, I really don't find the idea of them wishing to avoid fire and such that crazy.. If they've lost their sanity to the point of true animistic instinct, it would be as if a wolf or another creature would avoid fire to not be burnt. . But that doesn't mean it wouldn't flank you. Also, even if it kept them back momentarily, you'd have to continuously change your angle to match their flank. . and considering there may be many more zed in the future, chances are you'll be getting attacked by the back. It has its' draw back. From my post, allowing the virus to have developed light allergies is not exactly a bad idea. In the day time, you'd simply find that the majority of zed would be residing within buildings (Which is a lovely feature of terror from those unsuspecting) and wouldn't limit them from exposing themselves to the sunlight, it might just slow them down and/or lose their radius on how far they can track you. When giving up, they'd angrily run back inside another building and recuperate. At night time, however, their senses would be a lot more tuned to hunting - as well as the cooler temperatures allowing their no-doubt feverish bodies to sustain a lot more movement. They could sprint faster, hear smaller sounds, and most definitely conglomerate into hunting parties that would search their towns - or go out in the woods for water/prey. In general, day time would be more of their sheltering/recuperating stance - even huddling together within buildings for safety (Again, animistic behavior) - Then as night descends, they'd thrash out and howl loudly to announce themselves, like a rooster crowing, until they're moving very quickly through the towns in wolfpacks.

Who else is hyped for the new audio?

I really enjoy these sounds as well. Makes the Infected terrifying! - I also hope there's better support to keep the night dark and unexploited with higher brightness/gamma.
  4. Hey guys! So I decided to experiment with the settings a bit in game to see where my FPS would go and wow did I have results. Essentially the final product was reducing the Resolution to the lowest possible size and reducing the text size to normal. After that, I placed the majority of the panels on Normal. I had been playing on low/very low with very minor assets but with a large resolution with 15-24 FPS. By simply reducing the resolution to its lowest point, it skyrocketed to 30-50 FPS and I was able to put all my assets to Normal as well as the Rendering to 100%. I had no idea that such a gigantic boost was possible with just one tweak. Also, ran the game with 50% Gamma and Brightness - It is infinitely more immersive and the light effects shine through so freaking well from bright to shady. I thought I was playing another game altogether.

Who else is hyped for the new audio?

Oh God, yes. I cannot wait. . I hope this is implemented soon - Or at least brought up really soon. I want to be freaked the hell out at the zombies, as well as be frightened by the natural sound effects.
  6. Thank you very much for the opportunity! I'll look over the information and send an application promptly.

    Adjustments to the Settings

Haha that may be right on other computers, but my game really hasn't taken a beating - And honestly, having decent framerate is amazing. I've never had 30-50 FPS before in this game and it's game-changing. My graphics aren't being punished that much, really. I can tell some slight distortions, but it's really nothing that makes the game that ugly. If anything, with the details lifted and boosted, it balances out.

In desperate need of .308 ammo

Strange! I haven't been playing too often, but I played about 15 minutes ago and found a few loots in some random wrecked cars. Maybe bad luck?

O.o Did they ever not? I still find loot in them.

Map size and design, regarding player camps

I just found a Clan's Base, I'm assuming. . 10 Tents, 8 Barrels, 3 Medical Tents, 2 Cars. I felt like I hit the lottery. If it was easier to upload a pic, I'd show y'all. Anyway, left a note in a barrel saying, "Dear Friends, I love you. Be Excellent to Yourselves." And with that I stole an AK, a Silenced Pistol, a VSS, hundreds in ammo, and a car. Maybe the Map does need to get bigger, eventually. . But Base Building would have surely helped these people from me trouncing in randomly and finding their treasure trove.

    Infected Suggestions

Try breaking up your wall of text into bullet points, man! Posts like these are hard to read :o With that said, I did read your post and find a lot of your ideas very much like the community's! We all want this business! In my post, I also have some of the same stuff going on. It's all in the hands of the Devs and their vision. . I just hope that we see it sooner rather than later! Definitely a fan of deadly and SCARY AF Zed.

    Neutral Zone

Are Romulans on the other side!?!? xD Interesting post though. I'm not sure this could exist in DayZ just based on the PvP mechanics and direction the game currently has - Unless some kind of punishment was dished out by attacking. But simply turning off the ability to kill others doesn't seem very realistic to me. And even if this were activated, there's always the exploit of sitting right outside the Neutral Zone and waiting for people to cross over, shoot them, take their goods.

Map size and design, regarding player camps

Haha believe me, I understand how you feel, even if I'm just a bit over a third of your game time. I've been seething before at the pace of this game and the things that just don't make sense, or rather. . The inane waste that has been given to guns and clothing over the core features I WANT to see. I'm with you with a much larger map - Perhaps one I can never fully explore unless I play for days and days at a time, but even then may never be explored fully if base building and the like changes the scenery often.
  15. I agree and can understand your viewpoint on these matters - But there's something you neglect. Our Experimental servers ought to be the ones testing the performance of MORE Zombies, even if they're not better in any fashion. I, so far, haven't seen this kind of change to test the lag or how it would change the quality of life in the game. I have great hope that they certainly can work, even to the detriment to our FPS. I suppose that is why the new Renderer is coming out in this next patch. . But I'd truly love to see at least twice to quadruple the amount of CURRENT zombies just to see how different the game becomes. One zombie running at you is no issue. - But Four, coming from every cardinal direction, is a lot more likely to make people panic.

Map size and design, regarding player camps

Haha you're free to do as you please, buddy. Only offering you an outlet to actually voice your opinion that doesn't sound like a whine. Yes, they've got their job and I hope they are making plans as you desire - and the rest of us desire. Just stating, it may actually help out to really feature what you'd like in a way that another could see and go, "Oh wow! That -is- super nice. We should have that." Essentially, where even the Devs would have the same reaction and decide to go in that direction. It's still no promise, but more than simply asking for it without any detailed iteration.

Map size and design, regarding player camps

I believe the map will be expanded, but only after core features have been presented. I actually thing that it could expand in all directions and have islands of interesting loot, as well as heavily infected/radioactive locations that will be terrifying to go through. This game has a lot of potential for that sort of thing, but we can't lose sight of what has already been achieved (A damn sizable map) as well as the many things that are promised. So for now, it's a wait and see thing. If you really want to help out, draw up some designs and feature them in a sexy way - Don't just ask for new places, make them as a key for the Devs.
  18. I think people are widely concerned about the TIME it's taken to get to these points and what has been given every patch (Clothing, Weaponry) rather than the core features the majority of us agree would benefit the game greatly, such as zombie population and AI - and a lot more. I have renewed hope in these things, but what is important is that these things be communicated to the masses - and vice versa. The fact that posts like these exist and the long time members post their own dissatisfaction should mean something. It also means something to have a Developer actually respond in kind to these posts. Essentially, as long as we are listening to each other and responding with tangible evidence, as well as assurance, things can progress. I want to believe that BIG changes are soon incoming, but it'd be foolish to not question from time to time.

    Adjustments to the Settings

Very curious responses! Truly the only thing that appeared to change was the Text Size and the Box that encompasses it. I'm not really sure why but the graphical difference is actually heightened by the Object/Terrain/Shadow boost - Even with the Resolution lowered to the lowest size 640xsomething But my rendering can go higher than 100% with this change and still press me with about 30-50 FPS and my computer is nothing to write home about. A good benefit for those of us who have lowered scaled comps.
  20. Mine, and others, collaborated ideas to turn this game into the Survival Gem we all wish it to be! I deeply welcome ideas and criticism! Also, some of these ideas may actually be already IN-GAME - Therefore, if it is listed, it is merely because it is desired in greater quantities! Have a look, tell me what you like, tell me I'm an idiot, or what have you! I don't mind! This came to me because I believe the current effects of damage to a bit too simple - Unconsciousness or Death shouldn't swiftly arrive from a gunshot/melee attack, but the breaking/disabling of the body should be occurring a lot more. I'll try to refrain from posting things that are already in the current state of the game - Simply more for complexity. Please feel free to add more ideas. Right Hand/Left Hand Removal of Inventory TAB/Updated Bag Entrance Items: Weapons Food/Drink Applicable Items Medical Vehicles!: Weather!: Interactions!: Additional Building Types!: Infected Personality!: Other Dangerous Foes While I have read that Wolves, Bears, and certain other dangerous wildlife will be entering the game eventually, I thought I might as well add them also in the list for reference. Animals To increase the chance of an attack while hiding out in the woods, I propose we add certain animals that are lurking and follow their own AI path and locations on the map to make them unique. This also gives players an entirely unique way of playing the game. Rather than traveling to cities for goods and guns, one could (dangerously) live out in the woods. (Link: http://rbth.com/articles/2011/04/26/the_twelve_most_dangerous_russian_animals_12694.html) Other Humans To branch out further from the natural dangers of Players/Infected/Animals, I thought. . why not improve upon the setting of the map by including other human-type characters controlled by the AI that are just as dangerous. To this point, I would believe the area to be in absolute quarantine after whatever war occured in the massive area. Adding to that, there being Helicopter crashes and military areas that are still standing. . This makes me believe that other forces may be in play. Atmospheric Horror Additions
  21. I don't mean to remove the entire Inventory system at all. I simply meant the process of hitting TAB and having a proximity display, your character, and your entire inventory is entirely unsatisfying and completely destroys immersion. My suggestion was simply to cut out the TAB Proximity Display for looting to force players to really search their grounds for goods. - Of course we'll need better performance in the game and less bugs to do with disappearing equipment for this to work well. As for updating the bag entrance, I think it'd be rather interesting to only have realistic things 'OPEN' to see at all times, such as pants, upper layers, and vests. - Whereas Bags would be closed until you desire to open them. This could potentially give those items higher weather resistance.

    Adjustments to the Settings

Surprisingly when I lowered it, it changed no features at all. . I was like O.O Wait, what? Seriously. All it did was boost my FPS without shrinking my screen size.
  23. Would others be happy with the idea of being able to patch up ruined clothing with rags, also? I like your idea, it supports realism.

    Status Report - 15 Jan 2016

I can think of one definite good use for the RPG - Possible base raiding tool to knock down heavy defenses.
  25. Just getting quite frustrated. I am sure that they are working as best they can - and I'm no programmer, I'm in the USAF - but it just seems like so little potent information comes out to stir the masses. I'm so utterly tired of seeing more guns and clothing. There's no mention of Zombies in .60 at all. . I just want to hear even a tidbit. Even a damn hint haha.
