    Status Report 12/6/2016

    After their big edits are in, things like inserting bears, more items, more vehicles, even more land mass to Chernarus are going to be coming in like hot cakes! :D Curious, however, about the new player controller! Will it also affect AI in that it will give new postures/status appearances based on damage or weather - Much like I assume injured poses will be included in this update for players. Gods, what is there left anyway? - Player controller, Base Building, Soft skills? - The rest are just variations of already included hardware :D

    Ahh, this is true! I have a feeling that Post-Christmas is going to feel very exciting for them in their development, with teams splitting off to work on updating environments and the player controller!~ I wonder how much more work will need to be devoted to it before it's running smoothly! Definitely hoping we'll be entering a time of One Update every month as the final pieces come together! I may be a fanboy for DayZ, but I gotz the hope!

    I think the fact that they used that kind of language, in general, that they were going to still pitch to the PvP and Streamer communities, that they won't be left in the dark MUST mean that more and more of those crazy survival dangers are ramping up to be in the game soon. I'm not sure why that should scare the common shooter if they didn't have any illusions as to what DayZ is in the first place. I don't know about you guys, but the atmosphere I feel from the Devs and this SR is that Beta begins essentially as soon as .61 hits Stable, which I assume will be about the 20th or the 13th of December. (They may leave the control station and give their guys a week for Christmas, so it may happen this next week :) )

    Status Report 12/6/2016

    Thanks, guys! I was a bit perplexed yesterday when I didn't find a SR on the forums and had to resort to looking at their twitter for their announcement. So basically, we're on the last stretch of bug fixing for .61 - Veryyyy unlikely we'll see Cars until deep into January and even February. That's kind of sad, but whatever increases the production and gets us to where we need to be! I'm ready for .61 Stable already!
  5. Hey survivors! It's looking like .61 is very snazzy in the new iteration of the Exp Release! Here's hoping we can get it onto Stable by the morrow! So, with all hopes set that we'll have it gracing our Stable servers before Christmas, what is ONE Feature that you wish you could inject .61 that we're bound to see in upcoming builds? I'd go for Stable vehicle control and enhanced physics! (Getting crazy that the things that I want are actually countable with one hand now! Beta is NEAR!)

    damage done by wolves

    Based on what I've seen in videos, they appear to be working pretty fantastically! Damage seems acceptable and they really do provide a challenge for the survivor. Curious if they will ever receive a vicious pin attack that can disable a player if it leaps on your back or what not. A quick knockdown, for instance.

    More Variation of Infected

    The Devs have already stated they wanted to include more predators such as Bears and the like, in addition to Wolves. They also showed an animation on their Trello of an Infected breaking down a door, so I'm sure that's coming soon enough :) As for other kinds of Infected, as long as it's realistic and not Left 4 Dead. . Maybe! This is supposed to be a rabies-esque virus, so I doubt it'll resemble anything *zombie* in the truest sense.

    CR 550: Discussion

    Oooh, pretty rifle! Will this come as a variance of a Winchester in terms of ammo/scope, or will this be more closely related to the Mosin? Also, in terms of audio quality, will its' shot be very distinctive that a player will pick up on its sound and know right away it was this gun? :D Last question, how rare or common will this gun be? Am I correct in assuming that there will end up being far more civilian weapons running around in relation to military? Thanks for all the hard work! Can't wait till we can see more of .62!

    Sugestion. Zombies chasing like wolves

    I think the general idea is that Wolves are somewhat more durable to shots/melee weapons than Infected - So maybe more Health points for the Infected? Not sure I agree there. In terms of giving them flanking behaviors and trying to hit you at your sides in a pack mentality. . That MAY be interesting. I'm pretty much just waiting for them to increase their running speed by a bit and giving them more violent actions, like bashing down doors, climbing ladders, hurdling through broken windows.

    Ohhhh my goodness. Enhanced Forests. . I don't know why it hasn't crossed my mind in a while. . But this coupled with better audio and lighting will create such an awesommmme camping experience, if should one desire.

    Crazy Zombies = Unification?

    I'm pretty sure that the meatier parts are being loaded in within the next few months and are all happening around the same time. I have hope that the Devs will be cranking out updates once they get the initial engine stuff implemented. As long as physics, infected upgrades, and environmental upgrades, and harsher survival methods are created in the game, then it will be A+. . And I can see all of those things happening very soon, not to mention the new player controller and like a million other things.

    Three Things YOU Still Want

    Badass stuff on the trello! Today's SR was pretty great, even if .61 isn't here >_< Sounds like the real meaty and juicy parts are on their way. I supremely hope that they can figure out physics to perform realistically, including the bob and force applied by bullets to a target (Person or otherwise). After seeing the video with the intense numbers of Infected chasing after Brian, I'm further excited by the idea of Advanced Movement (Climbing over walls, collision as you brush against things and individuals, more forceful martial might) as well as STAMINA! Oh my Godddddd. . All of those Infected and a limited run meter. . Getting caught means death. - This by itself will force players to adopt a teamwork perspective if they want anyyyything of value, or wish to survive at all. Hiding in the forests won't save you, because wolves. DayZ is HAPPENING.

    Status Report - 25 Oct 2016

    Hey guys! Thanks for all the hard work! Love the status report and hope that we can get this set up soon! I know I'm going to lose entire days to the scary survival you guys are going to pump out. Two questions! 1.) How's the Weather modifier? Is the threat of hypothermia a consistent and imminent threat to survivors? 2.) Will the new damage system localize areas of the body for a percentage of health affected, and if so will that apply to Infected also? I would personally really like Infected to be able to bleed, as well as bleed out, when shot. None are wearing armor sufficient to stop them from being affected as we are.

    Crazy Zombies = Unification?

    Oh, yes, absolutely. I believe this will fundamentally change how the game works and how interaction is based on trust. Food and supplies will be that much harder to obtain with that many zombies, and it will almost force a ninja gameplay style if you want to get in and out without attracting any attention. . It will also deter players from firing their guns on others whilst in a busy town for simple fear of being torn to shreds from the onslaught of the running horde. I can barely wait to play this. . Nor wait for the impending improvements infected will be receiving soon. I can only imagine so much, but the idea of variation of Infected 'types', the animations to destroy a door or at least break it open, upgraded sound packs to be scarier, further rendered appearances to be HD scary as hell. . Probably so much more. It also makes me wonder if we'll be getting more animations with the player controller, such as leaping through windows at a cost of health/possibility of bleeding - But more things and way to escape encounters. Thoughts?

    The Frequency of Updates

    My only worry is that .61 will come out (And it'll be great, mind you), but .62 will take another 5-6 months before releasing. . Seriously hoping that their new engine is implemented well and updates can be easy peasy after that.
  20. So the idea on this would be a Colored Tiint that would appear across the screen, heightened in color in the corners on the screen. (Imagine a transparent colored shade overlay across the screen, whether in 3PP or 1PP) This would appear whether or not you would be in 1PP/3PP and only appear in Extreme statuses. Tints Normal - No Tint Hypothermia - White Hyperthermia - Red Sick - Green Bleeding - Flashing Black every 10 seconds for an instant --This provides an instinctive appearance for players to see that would prompt them to act accordingly - Also, when the flashing black screen is engaging during a Bleeding Status, it will pump up the adrenaline and feeling of extreme tension and loss of control.

    Thoughts about base building

    I'm hoping that 'Base-Building' is more about pieces that a person could make over time with a lot of effort - without the use of most electronic tools. Barricading, building makeshift walls and doors and traps. . Basically, just make use of all the buildings already in the game and then fix up storage, rain collectors, and some kind of generator for lights and other electric goods.

    For future updates, is it possible to implement Arma 3's physics engine for vehicles/bodies? I was always curious as to why you guys didn't just draw from their spawning system and vehicle database - Or if it was possible now to.

    Colored Tint Status Appearances

    Obviously I didn't mean having like green paint across the screen, but more of just tinting the color - Saturating the picture with more of the color associated. I also think there should be more auditory responses to statuses. Trembling breath, retching sick, etc. If not this, I'm interested to see what the Devs will do to make the character responses to statuses more realistic.
  25. Just some random thoughts that I believe would enhance the game's direction. Let me know what you think! Military Set military gear to spawn at all military bases but in rare quantity. This decentralizes NWAF and makes every military area that much more appealing, it provides the setting that getting a military set is highly rewarding and proves to others that you're competent in survival, and it makes common civilian and police armament that much more common. Guns Shotguns placed in General Stores. AK-Variety/Hunting Rifles placed in cars centered in the middle of large Cities. This allows players more places to find reasonable armament and also provides a risk/reward for players to venture to middle of larger cities for their high chance of having a AK or Hunting Rifle rather than Military bases. Cars Assign a fully functional car at NWAF, NEAF, and Balota. Placing vehicles at these military sites increases the value and risk/reward of the location, tempting players to attempt to get the car out of a hairy situation.
