Was messing around in berezino shooting zombies with a chambered P1 on a full pop. There's nobody ever in Berezino so I was like whatever. Turn the corner, there's 3 semi-geared people running right for me. I say "Hi!" And they do the nervous shuffle around me while talking for a bit. After a while me putting my hands up was brought into question. I agreed to compromise by putting my gun away, but the fucker still said to F2. I started running off as I get shot with shotguns. I keep zig-zagging, while hearing some teen screaming "WHY U RUNNING BRO" "RUNNING IS USELESS" "BE COOL MAN" I told them I was cool, that they should've just agreed to trade, and I get killed. Upon respawning, I spam the "Hide Body" with F so hopefully they didn't get my shit. I learned a couple things, though... Don't go shooting off rounds in a full pop expecting nobody to notice for one, don't approach a 3 man shitsquad for 2, and 3 running IS useless. Would've been better off trying to kill at least one of them. Maybe the rest would've skittered away like the pathetic scavengers they were. 1.1k hours in and I'm still fuckin learning new things, nice one DayZ.

For the last couple weeks for me, server lag has been absolutely on the fritz. Lots of rubber banding on full pops, taking half a minute to register something has been eaten, etc. Also there is a bug where if you are on a server when it automatically restarts, the game puts you back where you last logged in, not where you were. DeadlySlob made a video about it. Only way to avoid this bug is to relog before the server restarts.

Oh shiiiiiit you just got buuurrrned. It's true though the best way to know the state of the game is to play it yourself. Everybody's experiences and expectations are different, and personal traits and environment can all affect the way you perceive what your eyes send to your brain. Keeping this in mind, nothing anybody says to you about the game will be an accurate representation of what you will see. Ya just gotta look, look with your eyes:))))))))))))))))))

So I thought, rather than engaging in glorious coastal PVP, why not extend some players knowledge and go around telling people random facts.

That's hilarious haha, I love how you were just bugging the dude in the first clip while he was having a firefight LOL -
I usually destroy and take everything I can and if I have a note I'll write something like gotcha suckers

Damn, weird, I always look in houses for ammo and it seems like I am wasting my time because I can't remember 1 instance of finding .308, SKS or mosin ammo in a house, just in cars and milly tents.
-
You know what? I'll tell you where I have found 100% of my .308 ammo. In cars. Not in houses, not anywhere else. Just cars. I found a loose stack of 12 the other day and recently found a pristine box of 20, both in cars. It honestly doesn't seem like houses are spawning loose ammo at all.

The truth is I always like 1st person in DayZ better. My first few hours were played in it and it's much more of an immersive experience in my opinion. Also, I like shooting in 1st person a lot more than I do in 3rd. However, I really do enjoy 3rd person for the screenshot possibilities, looking at my character run around in all his awesome gear, etc. and I really love the freedom of having the choice to switch 1/3PP. The thing I've been thinking about lately, though, is the wall-peeking that people can do with 3rd person. The thing I'm wondering is if there's anyway possible to make 3PP more of an aesthetic choice and less of a blatant combat advantage? It's just funny to me because 1st person, being harder already for not allowing peeking, has additional disadvantages built-in! For instance, you can't look over your shoulder if you're wearing a dry bag, mountain bag, or raincoat. 3PP almost feels like an entirely different game because there are all these intentional survival elements you can see in 1st person, but to escape them all you have to do is press Enter. Just kinda bummed out right now because I enjoy using 1PP so much yet getting killed because someone can see me from 75m away while safely behind a wall really annoys me. I appreciate that you can't peek over the taller walls such as in NWAF anymore, it just seems like there is a LONG way to go before 1PP and 3PP can compete on an even playing field.

Looking forward to giving Cherno a thorough browsing.

I'm just here with my AMD card hoping DayZ doesn't pander to the Intel crowd like many other games do... also really wish people would start reporting on AMD performance so the AMD crowd can have some idea of what to expect. But whatever I guess I'm not cool because I got AMD and everyone knows Intel is the best and only option for gaming blah blah blah blah...

Isn't overclocking your CPU like... bad for it? Really tired of people having to resort to all these fancy "unparking" and "overclocking" tricks to get DayZ to run acceptably. I just have all my sets on minimum and rarely go under 30 in cities. Looking forward to the day when none of this shit will matter and the game will just run well on decent PCs.

You'll know when to switch gears by when it starts sounding stupidly high-pitched.

Is it Possible for 3PP to NOT be Overpowered?
Kohlbar replied to Kohlbar's topic in General Discussion
You see, that's not my point. Point is I LOVE 3PP, but only use it for cinematic photo ops and vanity. This is more of a QUESTION than a complaint. I'm just wondering if there's any way the playing field could be a bit more level. IDK Just a thought. I also admit that 3PP has its disadvantages in very specific situations (sometimes 1PP will offer a more realistic and open view from closed spaces) Truth be told, I was really impressed when they adjusted 3PP to not be compatible with the taller walls such as NWAF. It made me all giddy having seen countless videos where people were tracking down others at NWAF using the safety of the wall. -
Heheheheheh, but really? how? I get so many grenades I end up throwing like 5 of them at zombies... they're everywhere! I LIKE TO MANAGE MY INVENTORY BY PUTTING STUFF IN medical boxes and protector cases!!! Med stuff goes in med boxes, magazines in protector cases! Never double carry you'll lose your primary!

A few thoughts on.. (Difficulty, Modding, etc)
Kohlbar replied to Hicks_206 (DayZ)'s topic in News & Announcements
I liked being forced to eat berries on the side of the road, wondering if they were poisonous or not, wondering if I was gonna die of hypothermia before I found matches, and cursing at the fucking houses for having no canned food in them. -
Well said.

Hi, just wondering does anybody else feel deeply bothered by looting up their own previous character's dead body? I've been told I'm crazy for feeling like this, but whenever I die in game, I just really dislike going back and getting my own gear. I don't even like seeing my own dead body; I would much rather scratch the previous character completely and start fresh on a different one. It makes me feel kinda bad when I'm with a friend and they're like "I'll save your gear for you!", but I just tell them to take any of my stuff if they want it or hide the body. For me it just ruins the immersion and feeling of the game to go back and put on the same clothes and use the same gun I died with. Anybody else feel like this?

I agree 100%. This topic is just me expressing a personal feeling about the game and asking if anyone feels the same. I'm not saying people who do this are wrong in ANY way. Indeed, there are so many different little exploits to choose from that it's basically a waste of time to play in a "traditionalist" way. However, using my own dead body for loot just throws the whole game off, personally. And while it does bother me that people use suicide as a teleporting system, I have to admit that I can't blame them. There is literally NO good reason to keep a character spawned north of Berezino, and I think this comes above a more refined spawning system.
-
You have a good point, but to be honest it seems like not all the spawns are being used at all. If you look on iZurvive, there's spawns way up above Svetlo in the Northeast, in the west just north of Dubky. To me it seems like plenty of spawns. Not to mention that spawning somewhere besides the coast would throw off the whole "going inland" adventure

End goal of the game? "PvP fiesta" or "gritty survival game"?
Kohlbar replied to WolverineZ's topic in General Discussion
I'm excited for when weather systems work again and really hope they make their way into .60. To me, raining, the risk of hypothermia, and finding a suitable place to setup a fire to warm up is a great part of the survival aspect in this game.\ -
I didn't make this thread expecting people to come up with suggestions on how to fix the spawning issues, more just asking people's opinions on how they personally felt about interacting with their old character's items. I'm surprised at how many people dislike the idea of running back to your own gear though. I thought I was in the minority based on how 90% of public hive players play and considering even the most hardcore YTers/streamers (such as TRMZ, superftlol, puhdado etc) regularly use spawns to get back their lost gear or meet up with their friends again.

My gear goal is usually trying to get one of the rare weapons from a Heli crash and stacking it up with ammo and attachments. XD Only difference for me is I only use pistols for secondary. If I carry a UMP or MP5 in my backpack it feels like it's just a matter of time before I accidentally lose it or my primary weapon while switching, so I just keep a primary + a pistol. I love the UMP and if I find it I use it as my primary.

Yes! Running back to the base to "re-up" with a fresh AK and hopping right back into the action is also something that makes the game feel weird to me. I don't mind visiting the same camp on different characters as long as I don't just use it to choose another loadout for my next PvP mission. However, if I am to believe what I heard Hicks say multiple times, nothing is "hard-locked" into the game at this point. Really hope this deal of people spawning to grab their own stuff, suicide-teleporting is something they keep in mind because it would be interesting to see how they deal with it.

Charcoal seems to be pretty effective atm. Just got sick by eating a raw cow meat in a depressed fit of anger after a PvP encounter gone terrible. My messages went from "I feel nauseous." to nothing after 1 Charcoal tablet.

To be honest I think the only reason they give the option to respawn while unconscious is because a lot of people DO get stuck in it right now. I've been unconscious for 15+ minutes before and never woke up, and I've heard of people waiting up to 30 minutes before dying, which is probably just starving to death at that point. I don't know how long unconsciousness should take, but I've heard that there's supposed to be a limit on maximum time before you know you're basically bugged. I agree that people should be forced to wait while they're knocked out, but it would be much better for everyone if the unconscious state was reliable.
