It's pretty silly to complain about there not being enough stuff on the coast, but honestly I'd just like to see a reason to go to Novodmitrovsk, Cernaya Polana, or NEAF again
-
Yeah, they're not rotting "zombies" they're technically seriously infected humans, so I think the damage on them is about right, they should hit harder though. I haven't noticed any of my clothes being damaged much less ruined by infected in a while. Personally I would like to see a chance of infected leaving nasty scratches that cause sickness.

Maybe the tent condition could affect item decay. Guns in a pristine barrel would degrade slower than guns in a badly damaged barrel. To keep the loot in better condition you'd have to repair the tents or barrels.
-
Do cars in car tents go towards total vehicle counts? Thanks for clearing that up by the way, I appreciate you taking the time to comment on this.

I get your frustration, I'm usually one that always prefers less loot, but when there are only a few vehicles on the map to begin with (and when their persistence works properly) it will be very frustrating to scour the map only to waste time because all the good vehicles are hidden away in obscure corners of the map. I like the extra challenges to consider in DayZ such as ruining items and the future risk of contaminated loot, but CLE does seem like an issue they need to address. If there's only a set amount of loot allowed on the server, why should all the good stuff be tucked away in camps?

Can't agree enough. To me part of what makes DayZ unique is that all players, from full gear survivor to freshie, are on an even playing field. There's no perk to help your aim get more steady, you must steady your aim. There's no perk to make footsteps sound louder, you must listen. This also applies to morale... The morale of the person playing is very much part of how they play, and I don't think this can be simulated. A player who is scared will be shaking, a player who just watched his friends get mowed down might be more likely to bum rush in rage (or run away), so on so forth.

Nice, I tried rockin with a skorpion in the bag a couple characters ago, but I switched between it and my primary (Mosin) with the hotkeys and boom, lost my Mosin. Reminded myself why I only carry 1 primary and a pistol haha

The girl in that video was using 0 recoil hack. For real though I think that lots of recoil reduction should be in the player's hands with small movements of the mouse. One of the biggest reasons I like the combat in this game is that most of the *skill* is left up to the player, and not perks or leveling making the game easier automatically. However I will agree that the AKM's natural recoil seems a bit wild at the moment. I don't think being hit with a bullet should slow players down. Most games I've played that implement similar systems just make it seem like you're walking through gravy whenever you get hit, and it's infuriating. The running speed will be reduced dramatically once vehicles come out, so I think that will go a long way for balancing player speed vs. gunfire.

Hahahhahahahahahaha no that's normal, I like the dedication though! I would say your character's health statuses are bugged and "stuck" in being unconscious. I suggest your friend giving you CPR a few times, if that doesn't help then nothing will and you might as well press respawn. Just out of curiosity how did you go unconscious?

Yo @TurtleHermit, according to recent dev reports there have been big improvements in player sync, such as players falling through stairs, getting broken legs from being upstairs in a house etc. I think this will apply to zombies as well and possibly mean no more invisible zombies, zombies going through doors etc. all coming to .61. Something to look forward too, definitely. Also, it's another thing that makes the wait all the more excruciating D:

Desync - When should I expect for it to be a minor issue
Kohlbar replied to Morten Søgaard's topic in General Discussion
In one of the recent Status Reports they said they found and fixed a major issue for player and zombie desync which caused zombies to go through doors or become invisible. Of course the player's internet connection will always play a role in how bad the lag is, but I'm excited to see how it is on .61 -
The Early Access program is still relatively new, and it's really becoming an interesting experiment on human patience and understanding. Many games are in development longer but people just don't see it, but since we get to see this, many people are throwing their hands up and saying, "this is taking too long!" People who know about game development know what a grueling task it is and how finicky of a job coding can be. Then there are those who think it is as easy as building a tower of blocks, and say, "Why aren't the blocks being placed faster?" It's kind of infuriating sometimes, and don't get me started on the Steam reviews. Think of all the stress felt by members of a studio while working on a major project, and all the while they are getting barraged by countless internet strangers. I think for this reason it's important to stay optimistic and patient.

But I want Sparkles the Wonderpuppy...

What movies/series/game would describe DayZ for you?
Kohlbar replied to exwoll's topic in General Discussion
To me the game seems a lot like The Walking Dead since there's so much PvP, but I'm hoping it becomes more Night of the Living Dead, where people are genuinely scared of zombies -
Bullet damage or clothing ballistic damage protection bugged.
Kohlbar replied to noobgamer99991's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, the current hitbox system has significantly less health damage if the bullet hits the edge of the head hitbox, and even has a chance to go through the player. I hope they don't "fix" that, seems like a cool feature tbh -
1st person perspective only (Message to devs)
Kohlbar replied to cs_wolf's topic in General Discussion
I play mostly on 1/3pp servers, but spend 95% of my time in 1st person. I just like it better for most of the activities in DayZ. I'm all for balancing combat and was glad they made it harder to peek over high walls, but honestly I don't think it's that much of a big deal and 3rd person adds a lot of entertainment value to the game. I think both perspectives have a place in the game. -
Today a random person ran up on me and a buddy in Staroye and we chatted for a bit and I asked if he had anything to trade. He said "not really... oh and you can keep your gear" to which I replied "I wasn't worried about it." May seem like a stupid thing but he seemed to be much more in a hurry after I said that, and I kinda felt like Rick Grimes LMAO

Today I shot an AR15 for the first time in my life. It was the 3rd time I've ever fired a real gun in my life, and when it fired, all I could hear was *BAM*-skweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee my ears were ringing! Of course, this made me think about DayZ and the realistic effects of shootingguns. Is it normal for ears to ring when shooting a high-powered rifle? My friend shot the rest of the 30rnd magazine without ear protection and I was in the corner plugging my ears LOL.
-
That's awesome! I can imagine being stuck in camo building with ringing ears from the breach grenades
-
I guess the classiest option available would be the striped 2 slot shirts, but other than that there's no classy trader's outfits. I think it would be great to see someone in a tuxedo lmfao
-
To me that is PvP both players know what they're getting into when they join an open server. They know there are other people around that could kill them at any given second. Veteran players will respect this fact and treat every building as a breach, scout dangerous areas before going in etc. However, I still think this is a survival game. Yes, PvP is a huge part of that survival (as @-Gews- mentioned it's about the only one that works as a challenge atm). I enjoy PvP the most when the other person poses a significant threat to me and I have to make a decision to engage, run away, talk. I know a lot of people who play this game ONLY to be in PvP situations though, and I think that takes all the excitement out of it.
-
For real, survival makes this game feel much more fulfilling than any old boring PvP game. To me the more challenging the survival is in this game, the better. I can't wait til the survival mechanics are more developed and stuff like sickness, starvation, infection, and dying from zombies become real threats. I guess the same problem I've had with this game for a while is that it's too easy to survive so people entertain themselves by shooting each other.
-
There was talk about getting them before Christmas, alas they're still not here. I wouldn't hold my breath either, vehicle desync will be fixed before they bring in new vehicles.
-
It seems like they're leaning towards not having wolves in either. When I hear "cautiously optimistic" from the devs for this game I just read it as "probably not gonna happen" lol. My foot is looking tasty though...
-
Yeah, it was loud as hell. I'll definitely wear earplugs next time I shoot. I can see how this would be an overbearing feature do implement into DayZ, but I really wasn't expecting that lol
