Like... I literally figured it out it's holding LT + holding Y to do a power attack. Like I literally said specifically an xbox control and 2 people respond with keyboard commands. I'm not angry.. honest... I just hope someone else who has this question will one day happen upon this tiny little thread and get some help out of it. HOLD LT + HOLD Y
-
I just read on reddit apparently it's uhh holding Y while aiming with a melee weapon. so if anyone else has this problem rofl there you have it. I'll try it when I'm on next.

I've been playing DayZ on Xbox recently as I haven't had a pc for a while now. The full server I played on for these past couple weeks has been a series of strange lags and glitches almost constantly. Zombies that aggro and stay stuck in place, doors that take 2-3 seconds to open, but that's not even the worst of it. I was playing on a character that I had for a while, running around in the woods looking for my improvised shelter (turns out it got raided) I hear a few shots in the middle of the woods, I'm all "Maybe that's the guy that raided my shelter!" so I go running around, after a little while I see a guy running through the woods looking pretty well geared and a mountain backpack... he doesn't see me. I start running up behind him and... *bzzzzzzzzzzzz* game crashes. Feeling pretty pissed, I log back on and decide to try to raid a base I've been keeping an eye on for a while. I throw 2 grenades at it, the TOP FENCE gets damaged while the bottom fence stays PRISTINE. This is annoying enough, but I also attracted the whole zombie population of Mogilevka on me, so I rally them into a barn, shut the door, go outside there's only 3 zombies left. This is fine, I think, but all of a sudden one of the 3 outside hits me twice and causes 2 bleeds in a row. I kill the zombie and start to bandage, then I see 2 more basically teleport-vault over the fence, so I run away with them in the distance, but I keep getting hit. I vault the fence they vaulted, run into the middle of the field while still getting pelted by zombies that are not there, I'm looking around seeing the zombies at least 30 ft away from me and I'm still getting punch sounds and going unconscious, finally I fall over and a couple seconds later I'm dead. I understand if nobody reads this whole thing, It's just that it's basically the worst I've ever seen full pop servers act. I watch streams from PC players on full pops and they all act mostly right, the zombies work etc. Yet on Xbox we get 3 second door opens, crashing and freezing when approaching a geared player, zombies that are stuck in place, having erratic movements, and hitting you left and right while you're sprinting and you can see they are off in the distance. /rant

The skies really were special. I've also noticed lighting's been affected by an issue where light doesn't beam out of houses down on to the street like it used to, except if you catch it at a very specific angle. I'm hoping this is just a bug that can be squashed, not a permanent lighting change. Some very spicy voices on these forums still, mee-yow.

I kinda liked when night time made everything seem grey-scale lol. Maybe that's just sentimentality though. When I played 1.09 it was super dark. Now I'm playing 1.10 exp and the night time is sometimes hard to notice because I can still see just as well as when the sun is starting to set. Imho if it were somewhere between those 2 I would be happy lol. From experience walking alone in the woods at night it can be blindingly dark (it's scary I don't recommend it). However, if the moon is full out, it's very visible in open spaces. I think moon and clouds determining night time visibility would be awesome.

Public (and press) reception of DayZ in 2020
Kohlbar replied to emuthreat's topic in General Discussion
I've been enjoying 1.10 thoroughly on xbox so far, as laggy and buggy as it is, it feels a bit more hardcore than the previous patches. DayZ's development has always been either ignored or unfairly put down in most of the media. I also feel like many people are quick to give modders more than their fair share of praise (not that they don't deserve any). -
I'll say it's good for that much at least. I had to use mine in self defense and while the guy didn't get hurt, I think he was confused and scared enough to not pursue me anymore.

Hi guys, I'm wondering if anybody out there has had any experience with rubber bullets for the shotgun. I've got some rubber bullets and I was wondering is it possible to kill people with them? Do they go uncon from body shots? Any feedback is appreciated.
-
You know, if they get a bit of attitude with you, you could "interrogate" them further with more rubber bullets to the head and see how many it takes... you know... for science
-
I did some testing with rubber bullets and found out it takes 6 shots with rubber bullets to blow up a gas station and 3 headshots to kill a zombie as of 1.10 exp.
-
Yeah I noticed later on that the statuses did eventually change, only much slower than they used to. I already like this display of the food stat much better.
-
Yeah, I only have the rubber ones in experimental atm. Shot one guy in the chest I'm pretty sure and he seemed none the worse for wear. That's good to know about not damaging items 😄

I've been playing the experimental 1.10 on console, I looked on console section of forums but there's no thread for 1.10, so I'll post here for now. Really fun update, I had a friendly interaction with someone talking about the update while he slowly starved to death. I promised I wouldn't cannibalize him, so I didn't. Later in Elektro, I got shot at by a guy, we both fired about 6 shots at each other, missed all of them (I might've hit him with 1 rubber bullet in the chest, not sure), and ran off in opposite directions to deal with our zombies lol. Some things I've noticed: -testing blood type doesn't seem to reveal blood type (unless this was lag) -I had an issue with not being able to switch to my melee weapon and when I tried punching zombies, there were no hits. Even punched a wall and no hits. I logged out and logged back in, and my pistol was in my hand with all the ammo emptied. I don't know how to reproduce this glitch, seemed to happen pretty randomly, but it happened twice in about 20 mins. - My statuses seemed to be bugged, I stayed wet for about an hour after rain and ate plenty of food without food stat changing to full from half white.

Ok, I was playing with my friend, we were killing zombies, eating stuff, hunting and skinning/quartering animals, and we both ended up getting sick. After a while we noticed eating anything and drinking water caused us to immediately puke. I tried to get to the bottom of it by trying different things. Anything I ate/drank from my inventory (even chlorinated water) immediately caused puking. However, drinking soda from a zombie by putting it in my hand, not in my inventory didn't make me puke. Drinking directly from a well didn't make me puke. I found some sardines on a table, opened the can without putting it in my inventory, ate them and they also didn't make me puke. Eating pills/charcoal had no lasting effect. I came to the hypothesis that everything in my inventory was somehow contaminated. Did the meat taint my inventory? How far would the disinfecting have to go to clear the sickness causing stuff? I know almost everything in the game is able to be disinfected, so would I have to spray the backpack, the food inside the backpacks, my knives, my clothes? I you ask me the sickness is a pretty extreme mechanic right now. Not saying it's a bad thing, just damn, it's hard.
-
Thought gloves took care of that. Thanks, though, will do.
-
So to avoid it, wash hands after killing zombies?
-
I even chlorinated water from my inventory while it was in my hands, drunk it, immediately puked it up, went to a water well, and drank until I was content with no puking. I'm honestly starting to think this is either a bug or a faulty part of their sickness system, because however you look at it this is not realistic lol
-
Bruh I know! I ate plenty of tetra pills, tried eating small amounts, any amount made me puke! I could go at the water fountain for minutes though, and no puking. I'm honestly wondering, because I've heard about things getting contaminated, how far it goes in DayZ or if it's just a glitch. I had gloves on when I skinned animals, so I didn't think I had blood on my hands, unless bloody gloves are also a thing. It was so strange and it didn't resolve until I died. A tiny portion of canned food from my inventory would make me puke, then I would eat a whole can of food from the environment and keep it down just fine. I hope someone else has had this experience. It was on Xbox version, so I don't know what similarities the sickness mechanic has between that and pc.

Your Best and Worst Memories from DAYZ SA
Kohlbar replied to Mantasisg's topic in General Discussion
Best would probably be my first kill I was looting around Berezino, sneaking, being very cautious. Suddenly I hear footsteps, and a guy sprinted thru the building I was in, then he did a double-take and noticed I was in there. He said "Hey, wanna fight?" and came in swinging his axe. Terrified, I brought up my pickaxe and said "I don't want to fight!" I was so panicked that I forgot how to stand up, so I was crouched swinging at his head and somehow killed him. He went down, I took all his stuff and that was my first kill. Worst: I think it was the .58 experimental and I was walking in the woods by Myshkino town when I noticed about 4 full gear people run to the well. They were sitting there drinking, so I thought I'd try a cheap shot with my repeater. It was about 150m shot and I missed the stationary targets twice. They all started chasing me, so I ran with my tail between my legs. I thought I was a safe distance away and they'd just forgot about me when I went up a deer stand. While I was at the top, I heard several footsteps surround me. I tried telling them to let me go and stuff but they wouldn't have it and shot me through the wall of the deer stand. I was unconscious and one of them came up and said "This is my doing." and finished me. Probably the most pathetic I've felt playing a game. -
Possibility of adding early content for Supporter Edition
Kohlbar replied to G18C's topic in General Discussion
This is the first I've heard of a "supporter edition." Aren't the people who bought the original Early Access release and posted on forums/feedback, supporters? -
If you don't care, don't play. This salty bitterness on the forums isn't helping anyone.
-
I agree with this, they hardly ruin clothes now let alone break bones. I would much rather be scared and sneaking around than easily walking 20 ft away with one looking at me that still doesn't aggro. This would also make dispatching zombies more of a priority when entering towns because you could not easily loot around them, and I for one appreciate dispatching zombies.

Do support staff take the sunday off? (any mod could pos answer?)
Kohlbar replied to dont_ask_me_again's topic in General Discussion
I've heard that if you're logged on the server while it restarts, you will be out of the house once the server starts back up. Besides that, I've seen it happen several times and nobody's been able to get out of it other than by suicide. Good luck. -
For those complaining about the development time of DayZ
Kohlbar replied to Guy Smiley's topic in General Discussion
Sometimes it feels like DayZ just proves that Early Access as a concept is a bad idea, if a game needs a huge amount of time to release things, can an audience really be expected to play a semi-functional version of the game with no new content and not get frustrated? I would love to see a list of all the EA games that have broken their initial release dates. I'm guessing it's in the high 90% range.
