To be honest I think the only reason they give the option to respawn while unconscious is because a lot of people DO get stuck in it right now. I've been unconscious for 15+ minutes before and never woke up, and I've heard of people waiting up to 30 minutes before dying, which is probably just starving to death at that point. I don't know how long unconsciousness should take, but I've heard that there's supposed to be a limit on maximum time before you know you're basically bugged. I agree that people should be forced to wait while they're knocked out, but it would be much better for everyone if the unconscious state was reliable.

I see what you're saying, basically a more helpful, constructive group of players to test things and post feedback. I don't think 50/50 exp servers are as bad as all that though, I've still had some of my more interesting encounters to date on exp servers and I really like how easy it is to find people up north in exp servers. I think the regular exp servers are a great medium for experimenting and providing feedback, esp. considering they provide clear instructions for any random person to provide feedback (server messages is how I found out about forums/feedback tracker). KoS just adds a little spice to the experimental process.

I don't need a password protected server. I want to play with the unwashed masses. Throw me in the mud! I still find random helpful survivors on public servers anyway, and I like taking my chances XD -- Also, I thought Peter's part of the blog was interesting, saying that people had to learn the crafting mechanics by themselves or from others in-game in the past and now, to help make more of these moments, they're introducing... tutorial shadows and hints? This is just my opinion, but I kinda like the grunge-y, frustrating way of learning how to do things without hints. It especially bugs me for guns. If I have an AK which I am quite content to have only a suppressor on, then shadows constantly reminding me of the other possible attachments are really gonna get annoying. There could be cool ways of having helpful features, but sometimes I think tutorials serve to skip over otherwise fun and engaging parts of a game.

Anybody been finding any UMP mags in military locations besides helis? I found an UMP the other day with a mag in the same tent, I think someone dropped it, but I've been looking in new barracks, old barracks, tents for a couple days now and haven't found an additional mag... I need them... I have the first functioning 1911 I've had for the whole patch and I don't wanna blow all the ammo with the UMP... ugh...

REMOVE ''Player Kill Count'' from newui

I don't care if this is left in or taken out either way. I think it's cool info to see how many people your character has killed in order to stay alive, but if some people think that info is too sensitive then whatever. I'm always keeping track of my current character's kills in my head anyway, haha. Don't think this will change anything except making my job of keeping track easier. -
Yeah I just didn't know if OS version had anything to do with what DX the computer could run. Mine's running DX12 so it should be fine. I guess all that I'm wondering now is what happens to people who don't have DX11, but since it seems most decently modern GPUs have DX11 support, I guess they should just get newer computers.

Will all machines be able to run the new DX11 features? Do you have to have Windows 10?

I've been finding that boar spawns are pretty consistent. There are 3 places that I've noticed boars spawn in almost the exact same place: In the field directly NE of the VMC, One on the road to Mogilevka from Elektro about 100m past the Staroye intersection, and one in the forest directly above Prig. Look for the big cluster of rocks I sometimes find 2 or 3 boars and other wildlife within 5 mins of each other in those woods. Perfect place for a hunting tent if it didn't get found every time. I hope you have fun trying to find bad weather because you're wasting your time.
-
It's true for barrels, tents, and cars. I'm not exactly sure how long it takes for barrels and tents to despawn but I think it's around 2 weeks without any interaction. I think it's shorter for cars but still a long time.

I currently like the pace of the food status changes, to me it's one of the only reminders that I have to "keep my character alive". Although it is kind of funny that I have to eat 3 cans of peaches every 15 minutes of running just to keep my stats up. I think more hardcore survival mechanisms like freezing, injuries, sickness etc will affect the food part of the game very much, making it less of a chore and more of a goal. I'm sure eating's gonna be changed a lot and I really like that they said non-perishable food items would be very scarce and that finding a wild animal would be a relief. Farms will probably be much more popular too.

Uuugh I can't wait though, I can't wait for when the survival aspect of DayZ will be genuinely challenging. I want to be starving so bad that I'll consider killing my fellow freshie that I just met just to eat his meat! Oh God!
-
I agree 100% with this, I like the updates but it I think everyone would appreciate more transparency when it comes to delays and major problems. Of course they are going to be careful about what info they release for obvious reasons, but it would be nice if we got a "We can't push the next patch, here's why, and here's what were doing."

I have no problem with people wondering when/if the game is coming out, etc. But when people start to act like they know the development phase better than a dev team, it really pisses me off. "Oh, fix the massive amount of bugs first then add new content! I want a squeaky clean early access experience wah wah wah!" These people just can't get it through their skulls that EACH "new content" added brings with it a large chance for more and more bugs? That being said, I do wonder about the pace they're going at myself. It seems like they're asking a lot of themselves to want to have beta out by Q2 (whatever that is) but I'm at least grateful that they keep us updated on a somewhat consistent schedule.

I had a ton of problems driving the bus up north at first, but I found out that it handles hills and tricky places a lot better if you leave it in high gear. I always use 3rd/4th gear even on the steepest hills and it takes them like a champ. From coast to NWAF takes like 7-10 mins with the bus now.

Ok, so I got killed by a hacker and after that the server reset. I joined a different server, the game crashes, so I start DayZ up again and don't remember which server I was on so I clicked "play" to hopefully get the same server as when it crashed. The game freezes for about 1 minute and I press ctrl+alt+delete and it unfreezes itself and puts me back on the main menu. I remember the name of the server and join it, but when I join it my character won't stop spinning to the left. I kill myself, still spins to the left, unplug mouse and keyboard, still spins to left, restart my computer, go on dayZ and click to find a server. The "Internet" shows no servers available even though my filter is set on default, so I go to the "history" tab and all the servers show up there! So I join one and now I keep getting Authentication timeout. SERIOUSLY WTF IS GOING ON? Do I need to uninstall DayZ??
-
Basically I got DayZ'd hard today. Just wanted to have fun high popping by myself and see if i could get any kills. First thing that happens is a hacker kills me, then, 30 mins of trying to get the game to work, then a couple hours of getting killed by full geared squads with duped guns as a fresh spawn. I'm done with DayZ until the next patch.
-
Oops, joined another server, it restarted, joined another server, game crashed. I have no words...
-
UPDATE: I restarted the game and it fixed itself. Ok so If you get a game crash followed by the spinning glitch followed by authentication timeout glitch, Do the following: Restart DayZ > join a server > restart DayZ again > restart computer > start DayZ again > join a server > restart DayZ again. It's that simple folks! Why didn't I think of it????

Is there any hope left? Please tell there is!
Kohlbar replied to -MadTommy's topic in General Discussion
To me, even the fact that they are still (somewhat) consistently bringing Dev blogs and updates is hope enough. What is going on? It's fucking hard to say from our end isn't it? It's hard to see just how many bugs/gamebreaking issues they have to iron out daily just to keep the game going in the right direction. I understand where you're coming from though, it's hard to play anymore because it just seems like a grind to get looted up, go kill some people, die, and repeat. All this plus the many people deciding to dupe and/or script is really starting to tarnish the gameplay. Really hoping they develop the survival side of things more soon. Edit: and I would just like to randomly vent my frustration with not having a dayz-themed forum anymore. GRRR!!! -
Ooooh I'm salty. My friend told me that .60 was being released tonight so I went and PvP'd with my friends in Cherno until my character died. Had a good night though, met a friendly player and did some trading before turning a corner and killing a guy with a FAL that ended up killing my friend in the volley. The friendly came running back as soon as it happened and helped me sort out the loot. Ended up getting surrounded and sprayed down on the hill next to construction site. Oh well, onto the next character.

I recently bought a new HDTV to use as a monitor for my PC. It is a 24" LED LCD HDTV from Vizio. Only problem is, I notice a very distinct monitor lag when playing DayZ now. The world sort of blends together when I spin around and when I am running, I can see multiple instances of my rifle as it swings back and forth. Kind of like a flipbook animation. My old HDTV, an 19" Emerson TV DVD Combo had NONE of this lag on it whatsoever, so I'm wondering, what is the best/cheapest monitor for gaming and specifically for DayZ? I feel like I got better performance with the old 19" monitor, too. Idk why, but all the movements were much more defined and nothing blurred together like with this 24" TV. I think maybe it is because the screen was smaller and lower resolution. I know there has to be some affordable options with no lag, because my old TV was only $180.
-
Yeah it's ghosting or input lag. Funny thing is my TV does indeed have a setting for video games, but turning it on literally has no difference. I'm thinking about buying an ASUS VX228H 21.5" it says it has a 1ms delay designed for good gaming. I looked at BenQ too but they're a bit pricey.
-
Huh, neat. Yeah I don't recognize that brand, but if it suits you that's great. I personally prefer smaller screens than 27" for pc gaming. Update: This is slightly off topic, but this monitor makes games like Happy Wheels just about unplayable. It looks like I have beer goggles on and all the movements are dragging behind themselves. Really kinda vexed about this monitor right now.
-
A setting to change response time? There's a setting on my TV called "Game Low Latency" which is supposed to decreased video delay and I have that turned on.

So true, right now the biggest challenge of the game is "How do I fit all this ammo on my character?" The survival elements of the game are barely even in existence at the moment, and are by far the EASIEST part of the game.
