  1. Hello survivors, lately I have a character on the server "EU WOBO Community Server | 12hr | Admins | 07:00 - 19:00", which is a private hive. This character has a different playstyle, in short I only use a small amount of items and get my food from fishing, apple picking, hunting, etc. The same goes for clothes but as we all know, you only can get those clothes if you tan the leather in a barrel. And yes there is more to PvPing, if you play the game however you want. My problem is that I am not finding any barrels, at all. I have checked more than 100 sheds (I think even more than 250), industrial building, etc. but haven't found any barrels. Most of these sheds were up the north-east (Belaya Polana, Dobroe, Karmanovka and Turovo). I checked these towns each day at least once or more with no result, even while there was new loot in them. My question is, is there a limit on barrels, in example 10? If so, does that mean if these 10 barrels are currently "in use" that no barrels will spawn? Or is regional controlled loot already in because I have been checking most of my time in the north-east. However I have spawned in the south and started checking for barrels since I got some cow pelts in the center of the map. So when I went north-east I have been checking sheds along. I hope you guys can answer my question or I can use someone else his/her barrel so I can move on. Don't get me wrong, I like having an hard time to find something or get something done but this is ridiculous. In these hours (10+) I could have gotten everything to go run and gun with approximately 3 characters and I'm talking fully decked with everything to spread chaos. Thanks in advance!
  2. While technically it hasn't been abandoned, one could argue it is abandoned. It doesn't receive the love anymore from the developers nor the community who stood behind it. At least not the love that the game is going to be finished and is going to be what's promised. Modders and the community are indeed keeping this game alive. They have achieved what the developers couldn't. It might not be perfect, but they achieved it and that says a lot.

    Did you factor in people playing mods vs. people playing Vanilla? I think without mods, the numbers would be maybe a bit higher, about the same or even lower than it was.

    I wouldn't get my hopes up too much. It's what a lot of people did in the past and we were always disappointed. With DayZ, it's best to be pessimistic rather than optimistic.

    Exactly, you don't blow away let's say 30 to 35 millions just by salaries with a team of about 100 (not sure what the numbers of DayZ devs were back then). And that's with the assumption that they only used the money they got from DayZ, which of course isn't true. Remember, they bought a tank, a T-72 to be precise. Don't believe me? Look it up. With those kind of expenses, I would blow through those millions as well. It's just the suit people not wanting to give the game some love and only want to milk the game.

    That's true but as I stated multiple times before, if they finished the game and then sold DLC's and maybe even waited with the console releases, they wouldt've generated more income across the board and are able to sell multiple DLC's without any complaints. But instead they slowly choke DayZ and try to milk it as much as they can while lying and betraying the community, including the die-hard fans who have been waiting for a completed product all this time.

    The problem is, they're not using that money for DayZ. And trust me, they made a lot of money with the original sales, the console sales and the Livonia sales. The fact that the team got reduced shows us that the money isn't going to DayZ but rather to another game or something else.

    Ah yes, the 2020 roadmap. Except this isn't really a roadmap. Perhaps you guys at BI need to do some research as to what a roadmap is. And on top of that, it's extremely disappointing. Plus you also admitted that you've lied to us. Also, post-release support usually means fixing a few bugs already present but mainly concentrate on adding new content, you guys are doing the exact opposite. What a joke. DayZ Development: Lies and Deceptions, it's a new book written by BI, now available in your local bookshop.

    With the beta and 1.0 release the developers intended to have a stable platform and the stable core gameplay loop. They had to go into beta because apparently the code was so messy that it got hard to work with. So instead of focussing on features they focussed on cleaning their code and fixing bugs, making sure the game is stable and the core gameplay loop is stable. What they meant with core gameplay loop is that the features which were current in the game weren't bugged or didn't ruin your experience. With stable platform they meant a stable game on all platforms and including modding for PC. All of this is ironic because the core gameplay loop is far from stable and you need to do tons of workarounds to make stuff work currently. So basically, we're back to square one. Also the core gameplay loop is subjective. For me the core gameplay loop is something way different than how it is right now. For me it would be more survival style rather than the mixed survival and PvP style that it now is. Edit: I believe this is all explained in the post where they announced that they would go into beta and then full release. Should be in the announcements iirc.

    So you're telling me if I fight a bear with a Mosin, I'm going to survive? And food and weapons aren't rarer but guns like the FAL, M4, AKM, don't spawn when they have been looted and stashed away. It's a very dumb way of enforcing balance because they can't get their shit together but they don't want a million assault rifles spawning. Also, there isn't always a car or object you can jump on, especially if you're in the forest and you get jumped by a pack of wolves. And if the tanky bear is the reason to make the game harder, why not make the infected and wolves tougher as well? Why don't we add some super infected while we're at it.

    So in order to make the game harder, they gave us a bear which is as tough as the Bear Form tank in World of Warcraft? Remember when they were talking about getting an extensive animal behavior system? The current system is already quite extensive compared to a lot of other games but the current bear just doesn't fit into that. A lot of changes or additions to the game to make it harder don't make sense and break the fun. It doesn't make sense that you NEED an assault rifle to kill the bear otherwise you're dead. The Mosin or Winchester should do fine, even the SKS should be able to take that thing out, especially if you shoot critical organs, etc. There are also other ways to make the game harder like limiting loot. And I'm of course not talking about the stupid decision to count certain items in containers, etc. so they never spawn after a while. Only now in Livionia is the game harder because of less wells, limited food, more infected, etc. Problem is, people need to buy a DLC to have the increased difficulty, this should've done a long time ago in Chernarus. Remember Beta, the stage where they were going to fix bugs and BALANCE the game?

    This is another balancing issue which I don't like. I didn't want to say anything because I don't want to be that guy and shit on something exciting. But yeah, I don't like how the bear is a Godlike animal and can take multiple high caliber rounds to the face or other critical organs and just shrug it off. They made it Godlike to make it "harder", but in reality it's bullshit. It's sad because those with a good aim and who can place a well placed shot with a high caliber, should finish that bear in one shot.

    You have zero clue what you're talking about. The effective firing range of the VSS is 300 meters. It's a very deadly sniper weapon because it's a high caliber (9x39mm). It isn't even the same as a 9mm which you portray it out to be, which is the well known 9x19mm. The weapon is very effective at close range and stationary targets because of the cartridge. It's a slow cartridge which makes it hard to shoot at moving targets on longer range. Although I personally don't like the gun due to only having a 10-round magazine, it can be used very effectively if used correctly. With a well placed shot, you can take someone out instantly. Also, for some reason the gun is very loud despite being interenally suppressed and shooting subsonic ammo, which I hate it for as well.

    So now it's our fault the game is such in a bad shape and development is so bad? You're one funny guy, let me tell you that. And I'd rather have a stable game, that's the reason why they released the game, or so they told, to get a stable platform. One year after release, we're still stuck with an unstable game and even with new bugs. But hey, money is flowing and all is ok, right? Yeah, that was a bad decision, a very bad decision. If they didn't release the game, I wouldn't be negative right now and still support them. But hey, they wanted (not need) more money. So they had to release it. Really sad if you ask me because they could've made a lot more buck if the game was stable and somewhat finished when they released it on the consoles, PC and released Livonia. It's not that hard to see and understand, you don't even need a marketing degree for that, it's just plain and simple logic.

    Well guess what, they don't care. They released 1.0 glitchy, they released the console ports glitchy and they released Livonia glitchy. I guess they are stupid enough to release a broken game, they will gladly do so, because they have proven they will. And why would we be nice to the devs? I don't think they deserve praise if they're doing a shit job, now do they? Maybe do some research before commenting.

    Yes, it's so much better that I have more hours in 0.62 and previous versions than now. To be fair, it's perhaps not the game itself which has sucked all the fun out of me but rather the developers. Ever since they went to beta and release, I haven't had as much fun in the game as I did before. The stuff Derleth mentions is valid and should be answered. But we all know Bohemia and they will probably only touch on the points which they can react positive to. All the negative stuff gets filtered out and kept away from us. That's just how it goes and it won't change. Lies & deceptions, that's the DayZ development process for ya.
