Have you ever seen the character take out the mag out of their vest first and then the mag in the gun? As far as I know, I haven't.
-
Not necessarily: Of course, the in-game animations doesn't support these reloads but taking out the map first isn't always the case.
-
If you reduce both, the balance will still be off.

I have no trouble whatsoever to keep my energy or hydration up. Perhaps when I have just spawned in but I never go yellow hungry after I looted 2 or 3 towns. Even hydration isn't an issue for me because I regularly drink an entire bottle or canteen of water and fill it back up. If I have found a cooking pot, I make sure that one is full as well. Also if I have the space I will keep a Can of Bacon in my cooking pot. Should I get in trouble, I always have enough calories and water to survive, no matter if I'm lost in the middle of nowhere with only trees around me. If you're having trouble with energy and hydration, you're clearly playing the game wrong because it's piss poor easy right now.

Source: https://forums.dayz.com/guidelines/ By the way, if anyone knows any duplication glitches/exploits, please let me know so I can "try" them, aka confirm them and report them.

They removed it because the offline mode is redundant now. If you want to play offline, you have the possibility to download the server files from Steam and start your own server. Then you can play on your own of with more people at home on your LAN server. Or even have the option to let other people play on it through the internet.

It's actually only a texture mod, it doesn't change the weather as far as I know, at least, I didn't notice any difference. I've heard the author was looking to made weather changes with the mod as well.

I usually play/played on vanilla servers but since bases and vehicles are currently worthless, I sometimes play on modded servers. I really like the Winter_Chernarus, SnowClothing and Weapon Redux Pack combination. Perhaps combined with the trader to make it not 100 % a PvP fest. Even though it is only a texture a mod, it changes the game a lot and is very refreshing. Unfortunately there are very few 1pp servers with these mods and even in general. In 3pp you have a lot of people camping buildings, peeking in 3pp and waiting for their opportunity, it's utterly horseshit. I will probably play vanilla when everything is back in the game and works correctly. I will most likely switch between Chernarus and Namalsk. Not sure if I want to do this on the public hive since ghosting has become a real issue now with base building. Let's hope they will fix this.
-
Would you care to share the coordinates or location with me in a PM? I'm not going to check out the base or raid it or what ever but I might give you an indication if it's a good or bad spot. You don't even have to share the server it's on, only the location. If you don't want to, I fully understand that.

If you're having trouble figuring out where you spawned, there is a way to find out without spoiling the fun of learning the map by using a third-party map. First of all, you always spawn at the coast, it will be either in the east or the south. If you know the (approximate) time on the server you can use the sun to know which side you spawned at. Now that you know whether you're in the east or south, you can work with that. There are two ways to get to "civilization". If you spawned on the beach itself, start walking north if you spawned south or start walking west if you spawned east. If you spawned inland, do the opposite, going south if you spawned south, going east if you spawned east. At some point, you're going to hit the highway. The highway starts in the south west and end at the north west. So no matter which direction you follow on the highway, it's always going to lead to either "civilization" or the end of the map/debug. Now that you're on the highway and are following one direction, you will hit one of the coastal towns or cities eventually. You now can check the sign at which town or city you are. Since they are in Cyrillic, you have two options again. Check the English translation on the internet by checking the page provided by @drgullen or check a third-party map. The other option is to loot the town to try and find the in-game map. Once you found that map, you can determine where you are by the sign of the town or city. Spawning on the south side is much more favorable than the east side because all the cities and towns are generally closer to each other. So if you spawn on the east side and are unlucky, even when you follow these tips you might get in trouble with thirst or hunger and might even die a few times. Once you know the map, you will know where the ponds and rivers are and places where you can go to get food or water. From Kamyshovo to Solnichniy and from Berezino to Svetlojarsk have a long distance between them with few loot spots in between. These 2 paths might give you some trouble but later on, you'll manage. That's all there is to it. Once you've played the game for a while, you will learn the towns and cities, the names, the layout, locations, etc. and it will get easier and easier. Right now, 8 out of the 10 times I can determine where I exactly spawned without even having to touch my mouse. It helps that you know the map but it will take away the feeling that you're lost or getting lost at all, something you will never get back. If I get lost in a forest for example, I know in which area I am. So whatever direction I take, I know where I'm going to end up at and from there I can continue on. The only downside is that I would've lost some time because of unnecessary traveling.

I like to disagree with this, I do think persistence is broken. We're now talking about a server crash vs scheduled restart. What about a manual restart or taking the server down for a (mod) update or whatever? I don't know how long you have been playing DayZ but I have been playing it for quite a while. Server crashes are nothing new in DayZ's development. In the past, all persistent items would still be there after a server crash. Conclusion: persistence is in fact broken. There has to come a fix for this, you can't expect the servers to run stable and never crash, that's impossible. It can crash because of multiple reasons, it might be the server files, it might be the OS of the server or even the hardware. Persistence backups used to be a way to restore corrupted persistence which occurred in some rare occasions. Back then, creating a back-up once or twice a day would suffice. If you needed to restore persistence, some hours would be lost but it occurred so rarely that it wasn't really an issue. This is something the developers have to fix, not the GSP's or server owners. Creating regular backups is a workaround, what we need is a complete fix. It worked as intended in the past so why shouldn't it work right now or in the future? I really hope they fix this as soon as possible. This is currently, in my opinion, the most pressing issue. I have no incentive to play on official servers because once you're geared (which doesn't take long either), there is nothing left to do. On top of that, I haven't even tried base building on an extended scale, only messed around with it a bit.

Exactly, I remember the time when I used to play on my own, in my own timezone. During weekdays, it would always be night when I was playing. Even though nights weren't nearly as dark as they are now, it started to bother me. Back then you still had the black and white nights and eventually it would bug me that I was always playing without color. I think the acceleration used on Experimental (x6) isn't too bad, maybe x8 is a bit better but I'm glad they dropped the real-time on Experimental. Which also wouldn't hurt is a separate acceleration for day and night. That way you can still have long days and short nights or short days and long nights if that's your preference. It would mean that nighttime doesn't go to waste and everyone goes to a daylight server or servers have 24/7 daytime since night is a lot shorter and most likely much more bearable to those that don't like nighttime.

I wish there were more 1pp servers with these mods. Last week I started playing on "RicooDayZ | [4] | Modded | [Winter - Redux - Trader]" which was a 1pp server with a good population. On my second day the server started having some trouble, lots of people disconnecting, etc. I wasn't having any issues but after a restart I pressed "V" and suddenly saw that I could go to third person. Apparently the server switched to 1st/3rd person which is a bummer. After looting Tisy and getting 2 FAL mags I made my way towards the trader at Green Mountain. When I was just north of Vybor, the server crashed. Now to be honest, I really can't stand to play on a 1st/3rd person high pop server. I don't want to deal with those twats who sit in a building, peeking in third person and suddenly *bang bang* "You are dead". I really liked the combination of mods and was really looking forward to try out the trader mod. Unfortunately there is no other good 1st person modded server other than servers which are modded to shit. There is one other RicooDayZ 1st person server but unfortunately it doesn't have the trader mod. I just don't understand how people can stand and play 1st/3rd person. I've had countless firefights where I said afterwards "this wouldn't have happened if it was 1st person". Glad you're having fun though.

Trust me, not knowing the map and the game is challenging and fun, cherish it while you still can. Being able to navigate without the map, knowing which loot spawns where, how to deal with the infected, knowing a lot of information about the features, etc. will make the game really easy.

I'm not sure if the official Stable branch servers have any time acceleration but that's the problem. If you want to play in your own region and you only have time to play in the evening or night, you will always have to play in the darkness.
-
I've never heard of that bug but I have heard that those barrack windows were buggy. Perhaps a combination of both bugs.

If you check the video in 0.25, you can see the Mosin shot would've either hit the arm or missed completely. I think the problem here are the windows, it seems you can't shoot outside the window but can shoot inside. Also @bersauron to make you feel better, been there, done that. I have multiple videos on my YouTube channel (which are hidden), which contain slow motion footage with shots not registering. In one video you can clearly see where I hit someone with a FN FAL in the chest but it did not register. In this case, it ended in my death eventually. These videos are from previous patches so they're not relevant anymore but it can be and is frustrating when something like that happens.

The very first mod was Sandbox from Sumrak. :)

For me night is a double edged sword, on one hand I love it, on the other hand, I hate it. The fact that we need a light source is great, specially to avoid missing details but on the other hand, the fact that a lot of the times it's literally pitch black sucks. It isn't really realistic, now is it? Unless there is a lot of overcast and there is no moon. The moon is no light source but a reflection, it reflects enough to light up the horizon and if you're lucky the ground. If it lights up the horizon you can make out houses, trees and what not in the distance. Also where are all the stars anyway? Light pollution anyone? I think night still needs some balancing and tweaking. It shouldn't be pitch black with a couple of stars and a weak moon in the sky. Either make it pitch black (every night overcast) or make the night right with the right amount of stars and the correct reflection of the moon.

I think you were just unlucky. I experienced somewhat the same as you in 0.62. I was stuck in a rock and got teleported by Bohemia, problem was, I didn't know where I was. When I logged in, I just started looting the houses trying to figure out where I was. Was looting an office building, walk in a room and *bang bang bang* got killed by a guy with a pistol before I could react. Eventually I figured out I was in Vybor. Also, I didn't just lose an AKM, M4 or SVD, I had the elusive FAL which tooks hours to get, I was geared to the teeth. I swear that gun is cursed, instead of the epic kills you imagine with that thing, it will get you killed in the shittiest ways. It sucks, but that is DayZ.
-
I pulled those numbers from the types.xml from my server files. Since I didn't change anything in there, it should reflect the default values which you see on vanilla servers as well. I think the original server files you download on Steam are the same as the vanilla server files Bohemia uses.

That is heavily outdated. Tents/Barrels: 45 days Traps: 2 hours Bags/(Improvised) Courier Bag: 6 hours Fur (Courier) Bag: 2 hours (not sure why this one is only 2 hours while the other ones are 6) Those are the most important ones since all the other items vary a lot. If you want to know the lifetime of a specific item just let me know, I'll check it out for you.

A while back when I was watching Sada's stream, he had a cold. He popped a few Codeine pills and his cold was gone.

First of all, the maximum amount of calories used to be 20.000 and I believe it still is. Also, I still think there is vomitting right now. At some point you will get an icon that your stomach full is and if you keep eating you'll vomit. At least, it used to be this way earlier in 0.63. When I get the icon I always stop eating or drinking. And I do leave food behind if I have a lot of calories stored already. But there is way too much food anyway.

I found a Civilian tent in a shed yesterday.
