This really explains it all. Yes, most of it was not perfect, but a lot of stuff is not perfect now, so that's not an excuse. And most of those things aren't even that hard to make like fishing, fish traps, etc. This SR has me really furious. Yet again are they cutting back on shit and stabbing us on the back, it's unbelievable.
-
What's bothering me as well is that he has answered on specific questions but not the most important question out there. They're scrapping shit again but not saying what they're going to scrap. It might not be their intention but this SR sounds to me like "we're stopping development, we're adding a few things like guns, items but no new features. However, here is our DLC, give us money... LUL!". Unless the DLC is for free. I'm never ever going to buy that DLC and hope no one else does as well. It would be outrageous and a real stab in everyone's back. It would mean that in the end, they didn't go for the survival game they initially promised and kept promising but went with the BR game.
-
*sigh*. My biggest question now is, which features from 0.62 have been scrapped (bows, fishing, traps, broken bones, etc.) and which features which were promised are going to be scrapped (vaulting/parkour, bears, helicopters, etc.)? We really need more information on this matter to get an overview of the damage.

Honestly, I'm not sure how this works but it's most certainly not on maintenance day. It's either going to be at a restart or it checks randomly if a new car needs to be spawned. No, at least they shouldn't. They only should despawn when the vehicle itself is ruined (black smoke coming from the engine block). At that point, the car will definitely despawn. It's not possible currently. At least, I wouldn't bother with it if you don't want to lose your car. I found this out the hard way recently and lost a car with some stuff in it as well. But it's not only structures, server restarts might fuck up cars. With an emphasis on might because of I have seen the weirdest shit. I have seen a car standing where it spawned and a couple of restarts later, it was flipped on top of a pile of logs a couple of meters further. Or a car which moved a couple of meters by itself. And no, this is 100 % not the doing of another player. When this happens (cars moving by itself on a restart) and they hit an object, they will most likely get ruined and despawn. Also, make sure that the wheels aren't sunk in the ground. Talking about structures, not only cars have problems with structures. It seems tents do as well, since I placed a tent in a barn. When I came back later, it was gone, without a restart. And no, it wasn't a player since no one had been on the server. And that would be odd as well since the SVD was still in a wooden crate, a couple of meters from where the tent was.

The 5th Reich, huh? Is it so awesome that it skipped the 4th Reich? -
3rd person peeking is actually looked down upon by a lot of players, including me. Especially the kind who just sit still in a building, peek and wait for the perfect moment to kill someone, those are the worst. That's why I prefer 1st person.

Because it might not be so easy to fix. It took over a year for PC to get duping fully fixed. Although they did some hotfixes with fixing various methods, people would always find new methods until the new character controller fixed it for good on PC. At least, I haven't heard of duping yet and any methods which were found, were quickly patched.
-
It amazes me that even though there are 5 replies, no one has answered his question, so the guy still knows fuck all. Duping is short for duplicating. In DayZ this means duplicating one or more items by using certain exploits/glitches. Items involved can really be anything from a weapon to a backpack full with stuff. Sometimes people even duplicate full outfits, this is mainly done with groups, where everyone looks the same. Why is it bad? First of all, it ruins the balance, the fun of those who want to play a survival game and makes it unfair for those who aren't fully decked out. Then there is the CLE, which means Central Loot Economy. DayZ's loot is determined and maintained by the CLE. If someone dupes a lot of AKM's, they will stop spawning because the maximum amount of AK's in the world has been reached. Thus it ruins the balance of the game and the fun for others.

Yes, good idea... for you. Go mod it in. Shit like this will NEVER be in Vanilla.
-
Did you not read his post? He said that these kind of features will NEVER be in vanilla.
-
That's fairly easy. Why use a third-party engine when the company builds in-house engines? There are of course exceptions to the rule like Blizzard using Unity for Hearthstone but that was purely because they wanted the game to work on mobiles as well.
-
Oh how I would love more of these kind of interactions. Salute to the duo for actually doing bandit stuff and interacting.
-
The chance of getting something like this on console is very slim. Unless they give you guys the ability to host your own server, it's going to be hard to accomplish something like this. With modding, it makes it even easier because without it, it would be a lot of preparation work.

Dear Dev-Team, can we get some ANSWERS regarding the FUTURE of our beloved GAME?

I honestly can't find it but I've read or heard them talk about it. Of course I might be wrong since the FAQ still say that procedural coloring is still planned but that post is from february 2018. Maybe @ImpulZ can take away my doubt? 🙂
-
What @drgullen already said. Also, the developers have mentioned, if I remember correctly, that coloring items wouldn't be reintroduced in the game. I am however uncertain if they mean painting them with spray paint, coloring armbands and other items in barrels or both. Let's hope they were talking about coloring items in barrels because it would suck if we didn't have the ability to paint Ghillie suits, unless they come up with another way.

If you want an evenly balanced game, you must remove NV from it!
IMT replied to rickyriot's topic in General Discussion
I think they should stay in the game, especially for balance purposes. Yes, you're reading it correctly, for balance purposes. Having that said, they should be rare as fuck otherwise there isn't really any balance. Those who search and keep their character alive long enough should be rewarded and have an advantage over those who don't give a crap about their character's life. That's the balance aspect which I'm talking about. But removing them because someone can get an advantage over someone is ridiculous. It even applies to the real world, where someone with NVG would have a massive advantage against someone with no NVG. Does the world need to get rid of NVG now because it gives an unfair advantage? The USA has the biggest military budget in the entire world, do they need to cut that budget because it's not fair for other countries? The logic why you want to remove the NVG doesn't make any sense. This can be applied to so many things. Cars should be removed because it gives you an unfair advantage in movement speed. Guns should be removed because you have an unfair advantage over someone with no gun. At this rate, you'll literally end up with a running simulator. -
"and this wasn't rooted out before the console launches", this sentence pretty much tells me that you have no knowledge on the subject of game development. Stuff like duping, exploits and glitches are found by the players, the developers have no idea that such issues are there until they're made aware of them. You can pre-emptive solve stuff but different players do different things which lead to different results. In the end, some player is going to find some sort of exploit or glitch which are unforseeable by the developers. They can't check every centimeter of gameplay everytime they push a patch because at that point, the only development time is spent towards testing rather than actually developing it. The reason why the duping hasn't been fixed on consoles are unclear. It might be a more complicated issue than we know or think. But the developers aren't coming forward with any information (at least to my knowledge), so there is no basis on which we can build an understanding of the situation. And that, in fact, is completely their fault for keeping the radio silence.
-
As far as I'm concerned it's a non-issue on PC now, though. I'm certain it will become a non-issue for Xbox (and PS4 if it's possible there) at some point.
-
And that's exactly what he said. They aren't in the game but they do exist in the game file. Grenades were in the game at some point. I'm not certain if they removed them because they were buggy (so even before 0.63) or they haven't been added back in because throwing isn't in yet.
-
I can tell you how it's not done and that is by making 3 topics in 2 hours.
-
It seems to becoming a regular thing. I believe Arma 2 & 3 were both shitty releases as well but were fixed afterwards. Same thing with DayZ, shitty release and will most likely be fixed afterwards.
-
And this has to do with DayZ, how? If I want to play a good WW2 game, I'll fire up Post Scriptum.
-
Same here. I'm skeptical until something official is announced or of course it is actually released.
-
Saw it as well, it's weird that it's on an official PS blog but Bohemia hasn't released anything official on their social media.
