Truck noise makes me want to KILL

Want to know why I try to engage trucks? If I hear a truck it means there is a player, which means possible danger for me. This is by the way the reason why I don't use trucks. It's a huge magnet to zombies and players. They know you're there but you don't know that they are there.
  2. I have to admit, sometimes when I'm in a hairy situation I also think about combat logging. But then I say to myself "NO, you're not a pussy. If there are problems you can't walk away from 'em, you need to face the music!". So in the end I don't combat log. :) Trust me by the way, combat logging would have prevented a lot of "You are dead" screens. But someone I know said this of Arma 2 "There a lot of people who just respawn when we crash. I always walk because it learns me to be more careful next time and learn from my mistakes.". So if I die, I accept this penalty. If I don't want to die I should be more careful and will eventually learn from my mistakes. :)

    Namalsk and Mods

If you prove to me that the driving and truck mechanism is ported from Arma 2 then I would like to see it. Otherwise I have reason to believe they made their own system. If they already decided at that point that they we're leaving the RV engine then they wouldn't just port it over from Arma 2. They either port it from Arma 3 or make their own which is compatible with the Enfusion engine.

    Akm/ak101 not spawning

Well, some people prefer other guns over the AK. An AK has a lot of recoil of course and firing controlled shots is kind of hard with a full automatic weapon. Against the AK74 and AK101 a SKS has an adventage. The bullets, SKS uses 7.62x39mm, the AK74 uses 5.45x39mm and the AK101 uses 5.56x45mm. That is a big difference there which could decide the outcome of a firefight. The AKM uses the same ammo as the SKS but it's harder to control the shots and firing accurate. I also think the AKM is a lot louder than the SKS. Though, there is no argument that the AKM is the best full automatic weapon at least damage wise. But yes, assault rifles are powerful because they are made to combine a full automatic SMG with a rifle. In real life the chance of surviving a 7.62 bullet is very slim when the right bullets are used. Small entry wound but a freaking big exit wound.

    Akm/ak101 not spawning

Well, they have a huge disadventage. I'll refer to the "heavy hitting guns". :) I noticed you get exhausted very fast while running with an AKM in your hands. I jogged like a minute and was already heavy breathing. Guess it's because of the drum mag. ;)

    Combat PvP

It's already in the game. If you click exit, you're character will stay in-game for another 30 seconds or something. So be careful logging out.

I have got to be the unluckiest player in DayZ

I'm not sure if hiding in a building is such a smart idea. Basically you're trapped and you have nowhere to go. You even don't know if the player is still there after 15 minutes of waiting. They are good for cover and checking things out or even trying to lure someone. But engaging interaction from a building is a bad idea in my opinion. It even is a huge advantage for the other person. If the other person is unfriendly, I just wait it out, he has nowhere to go so he is pinned down.

Well, my search is over. :D

    SurvivaL Please ...

The way I see it right now is that in the future there will be different gameplay servers. This is a very smart decision from the developers to keep all the players happy. My guess is that there will be servers which have a ton of food, weapons, etc. But there will also be servers which has almost none. If people get fed up with one style gameplay they can always switch to another one. I will be the person who is mostly on the hardcore survivalist servers/hive and occasionally visit a PvP server to do some PvP'ing. In my opinion, the server I want to play on should be like "OMG OMG OMG AN AK! Oh crap, need a mag now". Not the kind of server where you go "Hm, an AK, great". The kind of server/hive where if you see a player you need to say "hey, nice bow you got there" instead of *dang dang dang* "You are dead".

    Akm/ak101 not spawning

I've searched numerous places for the AKM and had no luck. Always find a AK74 but no luck with the AKM. Found drum mags and magazines for the AKM but the weapon is missing for me.

    Hunting Reference Guide for 0.57

Found a Fox a few days ago in that area. Not sure if they always spawn there though. Keep in mind that they are hard to spot because they are as tall as the grass. I guess I found it because I was near the crash site at Veresnik and was actively scanning my environment. I don't know if it is a confirmed spawn point for Foxes but I found one there.

    Surviving too long does this..

Great for survival: true Great against infected or players: false But yeah, the stone knife is a great tool at the moment.

    Surviving too long does this..

I can do even better: First you get a stone knife and craft some improvised rope with 2x6 rags. Now you have two scenarios. Scenario 1: if you have a fishing hook then cut a long wooden stick from any tree with your stone knife. Now create a fishing pole and dig up some worms with your stone knife. Next go fishing and cut the fish with the stone knife. Collect some sticks and 1 oak bark and 1 birch bark or 2 oak bark. Create a hand dril kit with 1 oak bark and wooden stick. Cut another long wooden stick from any tree to put the fish on. Create a fireplace kit with an oak bark or birch bark and stick. Throw some sticks on it so it can burn (make sure you have enough back-up sticks). Ignite the fire with the hand drill kit. Place the fish on the long wooden stick and pose the stick towards the fire. Once the fish gets yellow it's ready to eat. Scenario 2: if you don't have a fishing hook then cut a long wooden stick from any tree with your stone knife. Create a bow out of it and make some arrows (chicken feather + sharpened wooden sticks). Kill an animal and gut it with your stone knife. Collect the bones and the guts. Cut one bone in to a fishing hook with your stone knife. Cut another long wooden stick and create a fishing pole with the guts and the stick. Dig up worms with your stone knife. Go fish and cut the fish with your stone knife. Collect some sticks and 1 oak bark and 1 birch bark or 2 oak bark. Create a hand drill kit with 1 oak bark and wooden stick. You don't even need to look for a rope, fishing hook or what ever. Straight natural survival. :)

    Dynamic events locations

How about more helicopters spread across the map with no loot. Loot will spawn at 1 of the helicopter (picked by random) after a random timer has expired. A random timer starts again and spawns loot again at a random helicopter. The helicopter changes positions every restart or every wednesday with maintenance. By this way you have less hoppers because the choppers can be anywhere and they may even have no loot at all.
  15. Which server(s) were those guns? OT: As other already said, cut down the tree should do the trick.
  16. With your example there is a great possibility that 105 unreachable hammers will spawn. It is not quite as easy as you think. They use static spawn points so that loot isn't everywhere. People think that spawning loot is an easy thing. Unless you want an easy system it takes more than your example.

    Spawning with no pants

Maybe the Hunter Pants is a new item so it didn't spawn. But try to keep your pants on next time, mister. When I catch you next time with no pants on I will call the Chernarus police force!
  18. In games like DayZ Standalone it needs to render a lot of distance. This brings the most stress for a graphic card. I would begin with setting the terrain details to very low. Then you can play around with the shadows, clouds and objects. I would disable ambient occlusion and postprocess quality. AntiAliasing on low and play around with the other 3 things. The textures doesn't reduce FPS that much so you can put these a bit higher. Try everything out and play around with the settings. You will figure out eventually which settings will make your game run smooth.
  19. I am fully aware of that and won't be disappointed, pissed or what ever if it does reset, that's why it's alpha. However with such a big update to the loot system there would be a greater possibility that the persistence would get a reset. Knowledge is power, that's why I asked. ;) Keep up the good work.
  20. Thanks for the clarification. Do you guys already have know if the persistence will be reset again with the 0.56 update/new loot system? Would like to know that, if it does I'm not going to bother with setting up tents, backpacks, etc.
  21. I am confused, somebody needs to clarify it. Can I place a tent at the moment? Will items like backpacks despawn with a server reset or a crash? And what happens with items in your hand which are not in your backpack when you log out, crash or the server restarts?

.55 loot, I'll just leave it at this.

I have read some topics and some replies concerning the loot in 0.55. A lot of people are stating that new players will not like or survive in the current state of the game. This is complete nonesense. I'm quite a new player, been playing like 2 weeks now. I started around 0.55 and was also dissapointed at the beginning of the patch. The zombies were mainly my problem but not anymore. Sure, sometimes I die because of a zombie but to be honest 1 zombie isn't a problem for me. You just need to know how to fight them. And as already a lot of people stated adept yourself to this new playstyle. Since I got to known the game a bit I didn't run into any problems concerning dehydration or starvation. But I can tell you one thing. Everyone who is complaining doesn't understand how to play the game, can't adept to the changes or don't know how to survival. Most of these people are running towards the airfields, military bases, etc. That tactic is wrong, very wrong! The current loot system is much better. I admit that there must be a higher percentage that military loot spawns at these locations but the spawn timers or amount of loot which spawns there must be brought down. Think about it logically, it all makes sense. There has been an apocalypse, the military is in cities trying to fight the zombies and protect their and other people's life. They get overwelhemd and hide in toilet shacks, garages, storage units, houses, etc. It makes sense that there will be military loot scattered all across the map. It wouldn't make sense if it only was at the airfields and military bases. I will leave you guys with some tips but you should be ashamed that you need these from a beginner. When you are a newspawn search for apple trees or red berries to get the light green hydrated and energized status. If possible search for a waterpump and drink until hydrated, maybe even stuffed. After you are hydrated and energized you can roam some houses. But keep in mind, don't go even near the airfields, military bases and yes even the big cities. Everyone who complains that they can't survive will check there or be there. Of course they can't survive if they only check there. Stop looking for these freaking big guns like AK, M4, mosin, etc. Practice stealth and surviving naturally with hunting. If you don't know the location of animals look them up on the internet, for Christ sake. Craft a freaking bow (they may be still bugged at the moment though). It's the most stealth weapon in the game and if you know how to handle it you can kill zombies without aggroing other zombies. And if you aggro a zombie, stay still and aim for the head with your fists or better yet a weapon. If you run, you will be a dead guy. Find a bottle, canteen or alcohol tincure to put water in and always have 2 to 3 with you. I prefer bottles because they have the most volume so you need less canteens or alcohol tincure. And when you hit a town, check for a waterpump to fill them up and get hydrated there. Most of all search ALL houses and look EVERYWHERE, not only the usual places. Also check garages, cars, jeeps, toilet sheds, etc. Just look everywhere for loot and I guarantee that you will find loot. If there is not a lot of loot or even no loot then don't bother checking because someone has already been there. And if you want a weapon go for a improvised bow, trumpet or sporter 22 until you find a better weapon and have enough ammo. But remember, the better the weapon the higher the chance that you attract more zombies. That's all there is, it isn't hard really. It isn't an apple simulator or farming simulator, just mix these things up a bit. This game can't get boring at all because there is so much to do! And if you really can't find any food just go to a big city or a place where a lot of players are and be stealthy and kill a player. Cut them up and take them as food and the food they have on them. If you don't like this playstyle how I described it, I highly recommend searching another game. I believe and think that the intentions of this game are to rely on natural surviving. Craft your own gear, weapons, hunt your own food, etc. So I suggest that you learn how to survive naturally because you will be forced to more and more eventually. Better to do it now on a slow pace than doing it in a fast pace later on. So for everyone who is bitching about the loot: stop bitching! I'm a beginner and I can survive easily. If you are playing this game a long time already and can't survive then you should be ashamed right now because that will make you even a bigger beginner than me. Hope you guys will use these tips and stop complaining because this is not necessary. By the way, read the changelog, the wikipedia for DayZ and tips instead of playing. This helped me a lot to get to the point where I'm currently at. Happy stealth hunting and surviving naturally!
