Yeah, I hardly can't wait until DayZ is finished. It will be a game which doesn't get bored that quick because there are so many ways you can play the game. Let's hope for 0.59 experimental soon.

I see a lot of players asking the same questions. Please read the thread people so that we don't bother Brian with double questions. Not really though. Think about horticulture, hunting, improvements being made to AI, weather, diseases, temperature, the list goes on and on. I once saw a stream of SepticFalcon where he was running from an horde of at least 30 infected at Balota airfield. He was literally scared that time. To top it all he was being shot by a player as well, double trouble. :P

Also, I think most programmers can mod for DayZ Standalone as long as you know the API and the basics of programming. Maybe I'll make a mod as well, who knows. :) If anyone has any suggestions, feel free to PM me. :P

I agree, we can pry some more info and know where we stand. There were a lot of questions though, finally caught up reading them all. :lol: Oh lord, just think about it. Rivers frozen so no fishing, ground too cold so no possibility to grow vegetables. We're doomed! Now, I have 3 questions myself, if Brian is still answering them: 1. As I understand the new renderer works with DirectX 11. With DirectX 12, Mantle and Vulcan coming up, which one is going to be used if even used and why? 2. How are things shaping up at the moment? Are you guys on schedule as planned at the very beginning? 3. What are the things you (and your team) are hyped for the most in the feature?

Look at it like this. You're looking in DayZ for a green or black raincoat. You have found a pink one and figure that it will do until you're further in the game. That's basically how it works. They have unoptimized textures which are temporary just for testing/developing purposes. :) Don't kill me if it isn't true but my guess is that with the infected back in 0.59 the animals will be back as well.

They are optimizing the new renderer to at least match the quality of the current renderer. And with quality they mean how things look, etc. and not performance. ;)

Then my guess is that you used the wrong wording. I assumed that "the vehicle stuff falling off (LOOK AT THOSE NOT GLITCHY PHYSICS, WHOO!)" was meant to be sarcastic. Also because of the first sentence and the sarcasm (perhaps it was not your intention) I didn't take your message serious as a whole. Besides, I'm not bitching, it's a bit weird that the first thing someone mentions are new weapons instead of complimenting or getting hyped (because of) these new features. It's all about the formatting. If you would have mentioned the new features first and made a comment about the new weapons at the end like "any news on the new weapons?" I would have replied in a different way. It will probably depend on the bullet. Bullets which are used in assault rifles are really devestating. It can pierce through walls so some metal shouldn't be that hard. :P

I'm not sure when it will hit experimental but if you watch the third video about the action animation you can clearly see the character picks up the rice different from how it currently is. Perhaps this is the new character controller or character animation. :) By the way I love how the item is called "Fake bag of rice". :lol:

*sigh*, almost everyone is crying about the slow progress of the game. This status report shows the leaps the developers are making with all these new great features and all you can come up with is "I am disappointed because there is no news on new weapons". I'll leave it at this because I don't even can't describe myself, you just confused my brains.

Absolutely love the new status report, keep it up. I specially love the amount of video's and pictures. I hope this suits everyone's needs concerning the status report and the postponing of 0.59. The car which can be broken down looks really nice and realistic. All these new things show a lot of potential. :)

I guess loading/saving characters who got kicked/left in a truck is bugged a bit. I never had this bug before but I did have my character "wiped" as well on some servers but quickly left and went on another server. On the other servers I would have my normal character instead of a fresh one. Another thing ColdAtrophy, how is the tool called which shows those stats in the top left corner? It looks damn handy. :)

They are dynamic at the moment in Experimental and will be dynamic on next Stable release. -
You're exactly saying what I'm trying to make clear here.You're saying "at the helis", ever thought about looking around them instead of at them? I know my very first helicopter was a NATO one, it had loot at it. While I was running away and sorting my inventory, I noticed more loot further away from the helicopter. This really pisses me off, most people don't look carefully and then they are going to complain. Watched enough videos and streams to know what the majority misses when looting.

That's an interesting scenario. I would say yes but do not take my word for it. Best thing you can do is ask a developer.

No, the items will stay. There is a catch though. All items have a despawn timer, some short, some long and some very long (tents, etc.). After this timer ends the item will despawn. This does not concern items in inventory, items in stashes (the actual item like the tent itself does have a timer), spawned items unless moved away from spawn point. And to answer your next question: tents, backpacks, etc. are persistent for at least 10 days. At least that's what Brian Hicks said

I don't understand these people. They still keep going after you when you have a gun or pistol. The chance they survive that is very slim. -

I had a taste of all three (low, mid and high pop). To be honest, you learn most things at the high populated ones. I'm the kind of person who doesn't want to die but don't mind dying when I do. At first I was bad at PvP (staying in the same spot after I got fired at, making horrible choices, approaching situations wrong, etc.). But now, I actually start getting the hang of it. Getting better at shooting, flanking, approaching situations, talking, etc. Trust me, in time you will learn. I have almost 500 hours now and my aim is kinda bad. But I know 1 thing, before anybody could see me, I already saw them. I did learn to be careful, spot things what other players wouldn't, etc. Perhaps that is more important than aiming. So in conclusion, just play the game. :) -
